Charly68: Seems some folks are in support of the stupidity of this young girl;no matter the difference she seems to be too mannerless to me..no courtesy for her own father...God says honor your father & your mother so that your days may be long ...if you honour your Mama alone without honoring the one who fathered you,you haven't obey God. Two wrongs can never make a right..she ought to be silent instead of throwing public tantrum at her father. The same bible talks about fathers not provoking their children. Or did you forget that part? |

Alero3Arubi: The problem is not in using oil money to develop hither parts. It's in using it to do developments that are necessary and can refund if not help create cash for further developments to occur without the need to burden the oil money further. You sef see what they repeated use the oil money to do, is it an economic project? And for crying out loud, the places producing the said oil money sef isn't even developed so why even leave the and go use proceeds from their resources to create beauty else where when they aren't even able to afford basic amenities. Oga I know you are smart. So try to analyze a post critically not just show that you are smart by posting smart, intelligent write ups. Analyze each point too. Intelligence isn't useful if its not used wisely. Yes! I read your post and got angry enough to reply you because i expected better from you. The places producing the said 'oil money' are not well developed because the leaders in those places are busy looting the money, instead of using it to improve the lives of the citizenry, while the indigenes are busy engaging in kidnapping, looting, blowing up pipelines, creating toxic illegal refineries etc. which scare away investors, and make it difficult for genuine projects to be established in the area. |

We all know that only the FG can execute mega projects of which the volume in the east is nothing compared with the West and North. As we speak now the FG has built one mega city each in the west and north. Every big or novel development projects are sited outside the east or connect south west to north west. Another excerpt from the scenes you missed on Twist of Fate at this site: http://www.desitvbox.net/kumkum-bhagya-14th-september-2015-written-update/The Episode starts with the Inspector coming to Abhi and telling him that he is under arrest. Abhi is shocked and tells him that he steals people’s hearts, and not money because he is a rockstar. The Inspector says he has proof and Pragya complained against him. Abhi is surprised and tells them that the money is his own. The Inspector says the money belongs to Pragya now and asks him to sit in the jeep. Abhi sits. Purab tells Bulbul that Pragya called the police to arrest the family member who has stolen the money.
Abhi is brought to the police station and sees Pragya standing there. He remarks on her actions. Pragya comes to the Inspector and tells him that it was Abhi’s money. She says there was a misunderstanding that the money was hers', and the money came from a charity function. She says her own money will come in a few days time. She withdraws her case. Abhi thinks Pragya might be telling the Inspector to increase my jail term. The Inspector asks Abhi to go home, as he is free of charges. Abhi says I will not go, as you people might shoot me. The Inspector says Pragya has taken back the case. Pragya asks Abhi not to thank her. Abhi looks for Rickshaw.
Abhi's Grandma thinks about what to do to save Abhi. Aaliya says if Pragya frees Abhi, then it means she still loves him. Aunt Indu gets angry with Pragya. Tanu says we have to take her class.
Abhi's Grandma says first think how to save Abhi from Police. Pragya comes home and looks at them. Abhi's Grandma thinks she came alone, which means she sent Abhi to the Police. Aaliya thinks of how to use Abhi against her. Abhi comes there walking past her. Aaliya is surprised and says it means she loves her brother, even now. Tanu says thank God Abhi, you are here. Abhi's Grandma hugs him, and asks what happened.
Abhi tells they couldn’t arrest me, as someone saved me. He tells that he is saved by Pragya Arora. Tanu says she threatened to send me to Jail and proved that I have stolen. Abhi is surprised. Aaliya asks why she didn’t think about money and yet she freed you. She says may be……..Abhi says I am her walking ATM and non-ending bank account. She uses people for her advantage. If I would have been arrested, then people would not buy my albums and Pragya will not get money. He says you can sell even a dead person, for your advantage. He says Pragya you thought that you will control me, but don’t forget that your remote control is in my hand. He says your weakness is me, rockstar Abhi……brand Abhi. You can’t do anything to brand Abhi. Pragya asks him to think whatever he wants to. Abhi rues to torture her from now and tells everyone not to worry.
Abhi's Grandma thinks Pragya couldn’t keep hold on her emotions and freed Abhi ruining her plan. Just then Pragya comes there. Abhi's Grandma applauds her tauntingly, and says you freed him like Savitri. She asks why did you do this without asking me. Pragya apologizes to her. Abhi's Grandma says My trust on you has gone. You have raised doubts in Aaliya and Tanu’s mind. They will think that you still love Abhi and acted for a make over. They have known about your weakness now, and will plan against you. I thought you will be successful to expose them and I can unite you both, but now I think I have to see you both separated.
Pragya says she couldn’t see him going to Jail, and says her win is useless if Abhi is not with her. She says she can’t see him in trouble. Abhi's Grandma says I would have brought him home and reminds of her promise. Pragya says she didn’t forget the promise made to her, but also remember the promises made to Abhi during their marriage. Abhi's Grandma says this step was wrong and you told your weakness to your enemies. She says now you both will be in trouble, why can’t I see you both happy?
Abhi's Grandma says you will be responsible for your separation and for your failure, and if this happens then I will not forgive you. Pragya begs her not to say that, and says she will never be separated from Abhi. Pragya says if my love is my weakness, then it will become my strength too, my love will help me win in this fight. Just then they hear someone clapping and they look around, shockingly. http://www.desitvbox.net/kumkum-bhagya-14th-september-2015-written-update/

He promises that his sister will never have to face trouble, and he will face her troubles. Pragya asks him not to prove anything and keep an eye on the family. She says she will see how to protect Abhi. Abhi thinks he can’t roam around like this, and thinks about why he doesn’t want to see Pragya. He comes out of car, and stops at a tea stall. Ronnie keeps an eye on Tanu and messages Pragya. Pragya says I will catch her red handed today. Aaliya brings the food. Everyone looks at the food with mixed reactions. Aaliya says she will serve them food and serves them. Everyone is shocked to see the uncooked, half boiled food. Raj says he had food already. Abhi's Grandmother wonders if it is tasty. Mitali taunts her mother-in-law.
Aaliya thinks Tanu might be in Pragya’s room. Pragya is here downstairs, so she will never get to know that Tanu has stolen the money. She thinks to make her busy and serves food. Pragya thanks her and says my tummy is full. She asks do you want to stop me forcibly. Aaliya says no, it is your house. Pragya goes upstairs. Aaliya thinks to alert Tanu and looks for her phone. Aaliya takes Mitali’s phone to message Tanu, but her number is not saved in Mitali’s phone. Aaliya goes upstairs. Grandma smiles.
Tanu searches for the money bag and thinks she will put theft blame on Ronnie. Pragya and Ronnie keep an eye on her. Tanu gets the money bag finally and starts dreaming of her marriage with Abhi. She turns and sees Pragya standing. Aaliya watches her and thinks Tanu is caught. Pragya slaps her hard and says I didn’t know that you will stoop so low. Pragya says I have caught you red handed stealing the money from my ex-husband’s room secretly. She says I asked Ronnie to keep an eye on you. Tanu refuses to steal the money. Pragya asks her to come downstairs and asks Ronnie to bring the bag. Aaliya gets worried thinking Tanu might take her name. Pragya brings Tanu downstairs. Tanu tells I didn’t do any mistake. Abhi's Grandmother asks you brought my soon-to-be daughter-in-law, forcibly. Pragya says I will tell you what she did then you will throw her out.
Pragya tells that she will surprise everyone. Tanu also replies I will tell everyone what you did? She complains to Grandma and says she has slapped your to-be daughter in law. Abhi's Grandmother asks Pragya, how dare you give her a tight slap? Tanu says don’t know how much she will torture me? She asks her to call Abhi. Abhi's Grandmother says I will call Abhi. Dasi or Aunt Indu tells Dadi (i.e. Abhi's Grandmother) to ask Pragya, why she did slap Tanu. http://www.desitvbox.net/kumkum-bhagya-9th-september-2015-written-update/

Better opportunities in that sense means that there are less competition in those places when compared to their present location. Guy, you are the one that lacks a clear mind. How can a person from an economically prosperous area, who claims to possess economic and commercial clout still be complaining of marginalisation? You sef, check am nah! |

Develpeast: The southeast is not less prosperous as their other geopolitical zones. The southeastern people are a people that are opportunistic in nature. They look for opportunity and if they find one, they make good use of it. Do you think the people living in the east are poor or wretched? they are not. there are quite a number of millionaires and billionaires in the east as we speak but when you look at it well, when the number of people doing your line of trade have been saturated, then there is a need to move. the movement did not start today, the movement started in the 80s. When the number of traders filled up the onitsha, owerri and aba markets, they started moving out. Most of these decisions were made during yearly end of the year meeting with brothers and kinsmen. they discuss about the places they have been and the opportunities there in, seeing that there might be better opportunities, the ones that think they are not making much profits follow their brother to the location while they take with them their boys who they later make owners of their businesses. the pattern continues to grow and grow until they filled up the different places you see now. That is the number of reason if you are an igbo man, they ask you if you have joined an 'otu', that is a group. so that you wont be lost about the happenings in the particular place you are staying.
the igbos are marginalised because the facilities needed to expand their economic base are not present. they know they can achieve more if the amenities are present in the east but since they are not present and these amenities are present in other parts of the country, then they must feel marginalised. Because you can drink gari doesnt mean if there is an opportunity to eat fried rice, you will not eat it. The system has marginalised igbos because they are been strangled by the way the government runs it activity. Stop contradicting yourself. If the South-East is not less prosperous than other parts of Nigeria, then they should not complain about marginalisation. It is only less prosperous, less endowed, and less viable communities that should complain about marginalisation. |

Develpeast: Mr, where have you been in this country and I do not want to mention other countries, okay. Just name it. You cannot compare the economic impact the igbos have in this country based on number of people with other ethnic group. If you come to the north, apart from the indigenous hausas in the communities, name one other ethnic group that has any impact on their economy than the igbos. Is it in Kano? do you know that airport road, nomansland, sabon gari, some parts of badawa layout in kano are all dominated by igbos and check the level of businesses done in those areas, then you know what the igbos are doing there. Do you know that igbos compete favourably with the yorubas even in their own domain? Is it Lagos, Ibadan, sarki, akure, etc? Brother, apart from companies which they shared between themselves and gained so much economic advantage in the 70's, the yoruba have not in any dominated economic activities in any part of the country apart from their homelands. You don't get the point, do you? If your south-eastern states are so viable and prosperous, then why do most of your citizens migrate to other parts of Nigeria? If they have so much economic clout, and they have dominated the commercial landscape, then your people should not be crying about being marginalised. Simple! |

wirinet: I stopped commenting on this issue because it is a fruitless and frustrating venture trying to explain to Nigerdelta youths that the oil companies do not owe them free lunch. Please ask the person making mandatory for oil companies to provide them light, if they will pay for the Generators and fuel. Who will maintain the equipment used to supply them free light. What happens when the companies finish their operations and leave the area? If the oil companies owe them free electricity, what about water, roads, telecoms services or even food. Should be oil companies provide all these just because they want to do business in the region? Is this why some are insisting they relocate tho the Nigerdelta? so they take over the responsibility of government? My brother, I tire o! Each time this issue of Niger-Delta communities and the IOCs come up, the same arguments are recycled. Ask me what their governors have done with the 13% derivation that they have received till date? What have their community leaders & youth leaders done with the community development levies they impose on each contractor that carries out any project in the Niger-Delta? If they cannot account for such funds, won't the bigger funds also develop wings and fly away too? This idea of using force, criminal activities, threats or militancy to compel firms to empty their purses all in the guise of some so-called 'development,' is part of what is hindering inflow of investments into the region. The Niger-Delta communities have been using this method for over 20 years, what has changed? |
Politics › Re: Reps Reject Oil Firms’ Relocation To Niger Delta by laudate: 4:33pm On May 10, 2017 |
HughJazz: they don't get it . they are entitled as F*ck . they just want the IOCs to build everything while the government do nothing. instead to go and hold their governors accountable they just accuse the IOCs of everything because it's easier to criticize the IOCs than their Kins in the governor's house Exactly!! All over the world, IOCs pay taxes to government. Amenities and infrastructure are then provided by the govt in such areas. This leaves the IOCs free to carry out their operations, with the communities acting as a watchdog to ensure their environment is not polluted, and toxic or harmful emissions are not released into their land or water systems. When this balanced relationship occurs, the IOCs are then able to contribute of their own freewill back to the communities in a tangible, planned, sustainable and long-term manner. The current hostile antics of the communities hampers and reduces the ability of the IOCs to appropriately plan and empower their host communities, over a long period of time. |

ariesbull: EXPOSING HOW MUCH THIEF AWOLOWO STOLE FROM NIGERIA
(1) He was stupendously wealthy during his lifetime, infact there is NO company at Oba Akran in Ikeja ,Lagos where he does not have at least a five percent equity, Dideolu Court in Ogba alone cannot be valued at less than N10 Billion ,that was the place that he had in mind to be his Seat of power if he was elected as Nigeria’s President.
(2) He owned Shonibare Estate but the man he was using as a front and who later went to prison over some issues which Awolowo himself was privy to eventually laid claim to the estate. “He got all of this wealth due to a great measure of goodwill and tax waivers he gave to investors whenever they come to establish their business.
(3) Anytime you buy a bottle of Coca-Cola you are enriching the Awolowo Dynasty,
(4) Go to Ijebu Ikenne and you will discover that the price of bag cement there is different from other parts of the nation due to the subsidy that the citizens enjoy on account of Awolowo who was their son and I hope you know that West African Portland Cement is in Ewekoro and not Ikenne.
(5) He listed such blue chips like Dunlop Nigeria Plc, (i) Guinness Nigeria Plc. (ii) Neimeth Pharmaceutical Nigeria Plc. (iii) May and Baker Nigeria Plc. (iv) Vitafoam Nigeria Plc. (v) Wahum Nigeria Limited . (vi) CAP Nigeria Plc. (vii) International Paints of West Africa [IPWA]. (viii) Berger Paints Nigeria Plc. (ix) Berec Nigeria Limited. , (x)Kabelmetal, Nigeria Bottling Company Plc (xi) Leventis Nigera Plc., (xii)West African Portland Cement Company,[Lafarge ]. (xiii)Wema Bank Nigeria Plc. (xiv) Scoa Nigeria Plc. (xv) CFAO Nigeria Plc. (xvi) Cadbury Nigeria Plc. (xvii)Wemaboard Estates, Odu’A Group. (xviii) Livestock Feeds Nigeria Plc. (xix) Nigerian Breweries Plc as places the Awolowo family have commercial interest to mention just a few.
(6) Apart from this stocks analysts believe that the most visible of his investment ,The Nigerian Tribune Newspapers cannot be valued at less than N100billion today in terms of brand evaluation as Thisday Newspapers was valued by the Owner ,.Mr Nduka Obaigbena at N200 Billion recently during a media chart while celebrating his fiftieth birthday sometimes last year.
WHEN A THIEF BECOMES A KING MAKER:-
“He made Sijuwade rich, because he was his business associate and in fact some of us held very strong views that he was one of his fronts and later the same man became the Ooni of Ife”he added Mr Adebayo Adeyinka recalled his several years of following grass root politics right from the days of Action Group to the Unity Party of Nigerian era in the second republic but now lamented that he had since lost all interest in partisan politics due to the massive corruption in our polity.
HOW AWO FAMILY NOW REGARD ‘’AWOIST’’
“On account of this great betrayal Awolowo family members regard the “Awoist” as a group people should deal with using a long spoon till this day and this explains why when The Peoples Democratic Party Government gave some of them political appointment lately they accepted it without thinking twice.
“Dr Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu was made an Ambassador by Former President Olusegun Obasanjo while, Mr Segun Awolowo Jnr was given a plum job at the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja as a Secretary. “Recently when Afenifere was disintegrating Mama out of concern for her husband’s legacies decided to call a truce because as she puts it then, she did not know what she was going to tell her husband the day they meet in heaven
MAKING OF THE ‘’BEST PRESIDENT ni.GERia NEVER HAD’’:-
Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was a leader who believed that the state should channel Nigeria’s resources into education and state –led infrastructural development.
At his own expense albeit controversially ,he introduced the free primary education for all of the Western Region ,he equally established the first television service in Africa in 1959 and expanded electrification projects in the region using the proceeds from the highly lucrative Cocoa export industry.
http://ihuanedo.ning.com/m/group/discussion?id=2971192%3ATopic%3A125357 You and this your propaganda that cannot be substantiated. Una no dey tire? What was the volume of shares Awolowo bought in each of those companies you listed here? Oya, publish the details sharp-sharp! When foreign companies decide to invest in a country, the govt is free to give tax breaks and incentives to help them establish their businesses locally, due to the fact that their operations will generate employment and income for its citizens. Awolowo must have provided those incentives, as part of his functions as Premier of the old Western region. Even MTN was given a 10-year tax holiday due to its pioneer status, when it decided to set up operations in Nigeria. All the companies quoted there are PLCs (i.e. Public Liability Companies or Public Limited Companies). Their stocks are freely traded on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and citizens from all walks of life, freely buy and sell their shares on a daily basis. Among their share holders are Efik, Kanuri, Ibibio, Yoruba, Bura, Itsekiri, Igala, Hausa, Ebira, Tiv, Mumuye, Bachama, Nupe, Igbo etc. people from the length and breadth of Nigeria. If a publicly quoted company makes profit, all its shareholders are paid dividends including the Igbo ones. If they lose money, all the shareholders also lose money, including the Igbo ones. Now, if its true that Awolowo owned shares in those companies you listed.... in your own view, you believe Awolowo committed a crime by buying shares in publicly quoted companies, and earning returns from his shares? How ridiculous can you get? Every Nigerian at home and abroad, is free to buy shares in any Plc company of their choice! So why belittle Awolowo for doing something that every other citizen has the legal right to do? Ok, please try not to feel pained by the fact that Awolowo was rich in intellect, funds and material things while he was alive. It only shows that he was an astute manager of men and resources. |

ariesbull: Let me break economics down....Igbo economics is based on group economics....We buy from ourselves
Then when we move out of our region, we create a niche and make money...During Christmas and Easter we all head home...So also the money
Now when Yoruba don't travel ,they don't do us...In short we enjoy it. We keep the eastern economies and south south economies to ourselves ...We keep the money at home and at the same time repatriation of overseas based ones ...To ensure business continuity and spread the over sea wealth...We just simply go back pick our kinsmen and teach him the business all these going on while you are doing great owambe and eating amala or asking for owo mi da
This is the same thing Chinese do...And that's why Igbo cities are cool today. Oh if you have e training wked to eastern cities you will understand but we don't want you to travel. We want you to assume that your place is the estimate so that we don't want your eyes to open
Chinese's are doing it in Lagos and Africa .. Asians are doing that in Lagos and Africa Igbo are doing it in Lagos and Africa
Fortune favours the brave ...no venture no success
But, we want you to be in your region and populate that place so that we can have a better market ..Don't travel. It is pointless, let's bring the business to you. Don't worry ...Ever heard of the term....Igbo sense
Oh we are still the most educated....So the skilled jobs in your place we take some slice off it and still have our jobs back home to ourselves
Best of both world....One Nigeria is fantastic...We must all enjoy it for now....If Biafra come....We reoatraiate forex( he will get agitated) Hehehehe...you lot like deceiving yourselves sha. The Chinese you mentioned, have you visited their country? Their cities are some of the most developed in the world, with great infrastructure & technically skilled people. Same goes for several Asian countries like Singapore, Indonesia etc. They do not go to other countries to denigrate their hosts, or claim a non-existent prowess or flaunt a superiority that they do not possess, which your guys are fond of doing. Those Chinese and Asians do not seek salvation or economic prosperity elsewhere, without developing their own communities first. Unlike your kinsmen. As for that claim you made about being "still the most educated....So the skilled jobs in your place we take some slice off it and still have our jobs back home to ourselves." I had to laugh out loud. Did you conduct a survey before you arrived at this conclusion? sniperr007: Yes,slots should be given to d host community for both skilled and unskilled and as we speak, this is done in major IOCs eg chevron & iteskiri pple, Mobil and eket pple.
If you work or ve a very close relative in management of an IOC, u will understand why they have to do more. U cannot do sane thing over and over and get same result. I can tell u dat in bayelsa as we speak, its d youth that dialogue with ioc and although d progress is slow but better than when the old men did.
Shell built osubi airport, why cant they help provide electricity for their host community. Its this lack that causes d youth to attack pipeline because its d only way they can draw attention to their needs.
They are doing good stuff oh. But can do better. As regards Libya & co. We ve limited information abt what's goin on their so pipeline could b burst
Back to the main topic. ND needs companies to help educate and develop the region. You still do not get it, do you? The IOCs including Shell, are NOT supposed to build airports, or provide power or scholarships etc. It is the job of your govt, to do all these things. But because your govt has abdicated its' responsibilities in these areas, the IOCs are just doing their little bit to bridge the gap, so that you people will not hamper their operations. It does not give you or your people a sense of entitlement, to continue expecting the IOCs to spoonfeed your communities with amenities. Your militants are the ones bursting pipelines, stealing crude, refining illegally and polluting the environment, then turning round to point accusing fingers at others. Until you can get it into your head, that the culprits are your state & fed govt who should be held accountable, you will keep seeking crumbs from the IOCs. Finally you said: "ND needs companies to help educate and develop the region." Oh, you think those companies will come when your militants continue kidnapping, looting, killing, breaking pipelines and polluting the atmosphere with their illegal refineries? What has the ND communities put in place to attract investors to set up in that area? |
