niggi4life: There's nothing as painful and degrading as defamation most especially when it's one sided and morealso a Book which even give details in full names of the guy involved. I have come to realise that nothing is as wicked as listening to one side of a story and hurrily conclude . The lady Toke or whatever has always painted herself as an angel without her own flaws. I am not against her feeling hurt or down, but using my name to sell a book and over exaggerating is way way beyond boundaries
We human have a limit to accommodate bullshiits though, the Maje guy even tried for allowing her sell a book You have obviously not read the book, or else you would realise that she also published her own flaws, and laid bare her faults for the world to see. In fact, as you go through the book you would feel like slapping her for her stupidity concerning some aspects of her life, and her failure to see the handwriting on the wall. Finally, his lawyers are just issuing threats. The court has not passed judgement. So what do you mean by defamation? |

If you go deeper and ask many of them what is the meaning of Irabor, Omorodion, Idahosa, etc., they will tell you it is due to external influence of the Bini people, and that those names are not the ancestral names of the forbears of the Delta-Igbo families that bear them. Just watch. |

bigfrancis21: Akpanya is a community under Igalamela/Odolu L.G.A of Kogi State. Being a border town between Kogi and Enugu States (Kogi is circled in blue in the map above), it’s so far away from its Local Government Secretariat which is located at Ajaka and very close to Igboeze South and Igboeze North Local Government areas in Enugu state. The community is made up of about 6000 Muslims, living in the Christian majority community - about 95% of the community are Ibos (Igbo and Hausa languages are commonly spoken). The Igbo Muslim community of Akpanya are not originally from the village, but made "hijrah" to the community after their ancestors converted to Islam. They have a very long history in the Akpanya community and are fully integrated into the community and its life. The Akpanya village is a very remote village that seem to enjoy nothing from the government in terms of provision of infrastructure- no good roads, no drinking water, no electricity, no good schools and no hospitals. These Igbo Muslims of Akpanya have for time immemorial been mainly petty traders except for few among the younger generation now that are drivers in different companies and organizations, they survive on little, yet they tasked themselves to work extra for the purpose of making sure that their faith is maintained by building a Mosque which is used up to today as their one and only Central Mosque. There are two other Mosques three kilometers away from the central Mosque but are never used for Juma'ah Prayer. meaning, that all the sorrounding communities converge at this Mosque every Friday. Adjcent to the Central Mosque, is an uncompleted building which is serving as a classroom for teaching Islamic Studies, and it is called Islamiyya School. There are no desks, no chairs and no good blackboard. The Akpanya Muslim Community According to Alhaji Sayyidi (the Mufassir of the community), Akpanya is a very large community within which you can drive up to 40 kilometers before leaving the community. The inhabitants are mostly settlers who are Fulanis and the Ibos (Ethnic Ibos being the larger segment of the population). Married men number around 500.
The Akpanya Christian Community with the help of the Catholic Church founded a school of higher standard that rivals that of the Muslims and so virtually all the Christian children were withdrawn, including some of the Muslims. This caused a decline in the population of the school which adversely affected the income of the School; as such, the highest pay for a teacher per Month now, dropped to four thousand Naira Only(4,000). You have just confirmed what greatjoey said. The Igbo community in Akpanya are settlers or migrants into the area. They are not aborigines or indigenes of that town. So Akpanya does not have an Igbo origin. |

angelTI: Why call the name of God now when what she did is legally wrong! You don't write such derogatory remarks about someone without the person's permission.
I never really liked this Toke girl from day 1 because she is just too fake! Legally wrong, how? What derogatory remarks, biko nu? Have you even read the book? Did she call him names or use four letter words on him? All she did was to say exactly what went wrong in their marriage and the roles that each of them played in contributing to its demise. All she quoted in her book were the facts! Isn't it true that he was having an affair with another girl, while they were married? Isn't it true that the girl gave birth to a child for him out of wedlock, while he was still married to Toke? These are the facts! Maje should either put up with it, shrug it off and lie low, or write his own book stating his own side of the story. Period! By asking his lawyers to write to her, he is just giving her book free publicity. Now those who were not interested before, would get curious and rush out to buy the book! parisienne: Maje has only succeeded in making the sales of that book skyrocket! Shikena
#MajeTakeNote Exactly!! In fact, if one producer succeeds in turning that book into a film, Toke will smile to the bank for many months to come... |

Since then the APC people of Tinubu, Fashola and Ambode have been trying without success. I am glad you used the word "suppose," which shows that the light rail does not yet exist. I am not interested in numbers or what has been budgeted or spent. I am only interested in realistic options which are readily available for the use of the masses, to alleviate their transportation problems. |

https://autojosh.com/7-ways-to-spend-less-on-transport-in-lagos/ Yes, o!! I agree with this one 100%. I used to go by road from Lagos Island to Apapa, only to suffer the torture of sitting through the stressful gridlock on the bridge and inner roads of Apapa, caused by tankers and danfo drivers. The day I discovered that ferries shuttle from CMS/Marina to Apapa, I did a thanksgiving in church! Ever since then, I have always taken the ferry. No traffic, short travel time (i.e. about 15 mins), pure unadulterated breeze, few delays etc. I only wish the jetty at the Flour Mills end in Apapa could be upgraded, modernised and made safer and cleaner for all users. Taking the speed boats from Maroko end in Victoria Island to Ikoyi, are also a good way to commute. But you would need to wear safety jackets or vests, during your trip. |

Acidosis: Those discriminating obviously have not been to many places in Nigeria. The entire route from Berger stretched to Lekki is less than an hour (without the heavy traffic and delays).
Same with Ikorodu, I've always thought Ikorodu is one far place until the day I found myself there. The way people talk about that route seemed like it will take forever or at least 4 hours to get there. Alas, I spent just an hour and few minutes all the way from Ojodu Berger.
We always love to exaggerate things here. Those who discriminate of course are plainly being stu.pid, I really do not see any reason why a normal human being will discriminate/segregate two distinct places separated by a bridge. Isn't that cra.zy? On which exact day of the week did you make this journey, biko? And at what time of the day? Because these routes you mentioned have been baptised with heavy dose of traffic and lawless drivers, from a long way back till date. Weekdays are a no-go area, and the only time I have had a traffic-free experience was on a Sunday or public holiday, between the hours of 10a.m and 3p.m |

buckweath: I love Lagbaja’s music now. But let me reminisce and take you back in time.
At an art show in Oduduwa Hall, University of Ife around 1982 or 83, there was this guy, who would later become Lagbaja played a piece that was not rehearsed before with a trumpeter.
There was a girl (I can’t remember her name) that was supposed to sing Omo mi seun rere by the late Christie Essien in the show and my job was to play the trumpet solo that accompanies that song.
Started playing my solo and lo and behold this guy joined me on the stage with his Tenor Saxophone. That song was then turned into a performance galore that we musician called “JAMMIMG”. That was totally unplanned for. But the music was good. That was Great Ife back then.
Can’t forget that experience with the then young musician now called Lagbaja. He was special back then too.
Just reminiscing. That young trumpeter is the writer of this piece. And yes I still play for fun….And I still love Lagbaja’s music. More respect, sir!! I throway salute! Fine, tall, spotless combination of brains and beauty. After 3 weeks of toasting, he had to reassess his options. The distance and traffic killed their budding romance, as he used to spend 4 to 5 hours from Orile to LASU gate, each time he had to go and see the babe. The stress he encountered during the hold up on that stretch, plus the fact that he was nearly robbed at Mile 2 on different occasions, rebooted his mind. He settled for another less beautiful and less educated chic, at Ajah. Only God knows where that pretty 1st girl is, now. Man proposes, but traffic disposes.... |
