Long distance, bad traffic, poor transport facilities and infrastructure is slowly, but relentlessly killing budding relationships, between members of the opposite sex, who live at opposite ends of Lagos (i.e. Lagos Island, Lagos mainland and the suburbs). Romance › Re: Island Residents Are Refusing To Date Mainland Residents And Vice Versa by laudate: 8:52pm On Feb 02, 2017 |
Naijasinglegirl: I am not sorry I don’t live on the Island. And I don’t live on the mainland either. I live around the ‘extra lands’ off the mainland and when I tell people my location, toasters to be specific, they be like, “Too bad!” As if Ambode is not the governor in my area.
Boys are willing to do London/Lagos long distance relationships but cannot do common Ikorodu/Ikoyi relationships. No boy even wants to do Uber for you from your location to a first date meeting on the Island because the cost of a trip is God is Good Motors rate from Lagos to Abia. You mention where you are living to a prospective toaster and the next thing he says is, “The last time I visited there was 2002.” Oga who asked you?
A ‘toaster’ would mention an event/party that took place on the island and when you express your disappointment on why you were not invited, he’ll say, “But you are in town now.” Excuse me?
The worst of them are the ones that offer free lifts. You’d be minding your business at a bus stop on the Island, patiently waiting for an Oshodi bound vehicle so you can take a BRT from Oshodi to Agbado Ijaiye and later the 20 minutes okada ride from the bus stop at Agbado Ijaiye to your own Lagos when a guy in a camry would pull up and say, “Can I give you a ride home?” OGA DO YOU KNOW WHERE MY HOUSE IS?
Sometimes I mention where I am headed and the manner they zoom off is disrespectful. The time I was stupid enough to accept to be dropped along the way, I regretted. For some of the spoilt Island boys, along the way means the second curve along third mainland bridge or sometimes an unnamed location where you’d wait for a vehicle for one hour and have no choice but to start returning to the bus stop because your routes have been messed up.
Even people living in lbeju Lekki and Ajah outskirts are joining to discriminate mainland people with talks of, “The only thing that takes me to the mainland is the airport” Ko serious. At least I don’t have to cross the Atlantic Ocean, queue at four toll gates and pass eight roundabouts before I get home.
You know the most annoying part? The husband materials in these bush areas have refused to date their own. All their girlfriends are based on the Island. Issokay.
http://www.naijasinglegirl.com/apparently-single-dont-live-island/ ROFLMAO!! What a fantastic piece. But wait o, how do you Ikorodu residents who work on the Island, cope??! My friend uses the ferry service from Ikorodu to CMS, and still gets to the office in Marina before those who live in Ajah or Lakowe. Anyway, your write-up about what people in Ikorodu go through, is almost similar to what babes in Ibeju-Lekki axis also face, on a daily basis. My female colleague had to end a relationship with her bloke who lives in Ikeja, because according to him, coming to see her in Ibeju-Lekki from Ikeja is like going to the opposite end of the earth! |

It was a huge expanse of sandfield land reclaimed from the lagoon, through dredging by the Lagos State govt. Nigeria media use to call her "Elegant Stallion"
Onyeka Onwenu seems to be private about her man, children and familyhood.
You hardly see her husband hanging around her.
Relationship stuff seems not be seen around her.
We do not know who is dating her!
Her contribution to the Nigerian music industry is commendable. She belongs to the generation of our good old singers like Sunny Okosun, Sunny Ade, Kris Okotie, Jide Obi, Felix Lebarty, Christy Essien Igbokwe, Charly Boy etc
She is also a contributor to our music association that is PMAN
She once pull force with force with Tony Okoroji of PMAN and even Charly Boy
She is from Imo state and once served in one of the federal ministry under the defunct Goodluck Jonathan administration.
Wishing her Happy Birthday! Guy, do your research now. Onyeka Onwenu is one of those elegant chics that rocked the social scene in the '90s. In the past, she dated Kris Okotie the musician-turned-pastor who now heads the Household of God Church. She was devastated when he left her to marry his wife. Then she met a Yoruba guy called Ogunlende and married him. The chap was already married, when they met so she became his second wife. The guy later divorced his first wife. Onyeka has two sons for him. The first son Tijani Ogunlende is also involved in the media and entertainment industry. She was very close to the late Tyna Onwudiwe who was also a singer. |

Sanchez01: Banks use an internet service called 'Leased Line', which means that the main bandwidth is channeled to their HQ while other locations of the bank are fed through fibre-optic/microwave radio backbone. My point is, should their carrier (provider) be affected, the entire branch of the bank would be affected, regardless of where you go.
Normally, all corporate bodies have back up links. I wonder what went wrong with Zenith. Thank you, o! That was the same question I asked them at the Zenith branch where I went to carry out a transaction yesterday. I went to 3 branches of Zenith along the Lekki-Epe expressway on Friday & Monday, and the story was the same. No network. It sounded so silly in these days where you have multiple service providers that are offering leased lines, everywhere you go - especially in Lagos. Haven't they heard of risk mitigation, disaster recovery, contingency planning and back-up leased line services? Their CTO should be sanctioned for not being able to correct this kind of network failure, that stretched for such a long period. Does Zenith think that running multiple adverts on CNN and DSTV will automatically translate into improved services? |

By Saturday it was back on. As a matter if fact, I withdrew from a Skye bank ATM yesterday. You must be one of the very few lucky ones. I was at Zenith in Lekki area through out yesterday from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. and nothing could be down. This is a bank that declares millions as profits and yet cannot be bothered to install back-up links or redundancy networks that their branches can fall back on during operations, when their primary network links are down. Zenith should continue with their fake stories. Am closing down my account with them, once the branch network comes up. haon: I think what happens is dt dia data center is down and with such, transaction will not be possible. from my point of view it wasn't delebrate. do u know how much money in millions they wud av lost over the last four to five days? pls, be patient with them. I'm not a zenith bank staff, neither do I av acct with them. just from my own experience as a DC engineer Did their customers not lose money also, due to the challenges they encountered at the bank? Longman6: At school, July 10, 1964
Dearest Queen Risi: I am one hundred percent certain that this letter meets you in a fabulous state of anatomy and metabolism. If so, eternal gratitude to our Creator. If not, I am the only doctor in town for the Queen.
Oh beautiful Queen! The geography of your body is perfect. Your body is full of milk and honey, your fingers are richer than gold, your eyes see better than the moon and sun, your head contains more wisdom than the sea can hold water.
Queen Risi is the model of perfection, accepted by all the angels, created by God on a Sunday when He had no time for other duties. You are the last Queen created by God. Other women that came after you are servants of the Queen.
Risi, I know that you are always busy, the Queen that has a kingdom to rule. Without a King, a Queen is useless. My principal aim of writing this letter to you is to gravitate your mind towards a matter of importance which has bothered my soul. This matter is so important. Even as I am writing, my soul is shaking, my temperature is rising, the wind vane of my mind and body is pointing everywhere at the same time.
Queen Risi, you need a King. Queen Risi, you are the only one I see at school, at home, and on the road. The mirror in my eyes has only your divine image, your majesty, your throne. I see you in my dream everyday. When I sleep, you are the one in my medulla oblongata, the only mosquito in my net, the only sugar in my tea, the only fly in my ointment.
To go straight to the point. I want to be your King. I want to wake up in the morning and see only the Queen. You should be the only grey matter of my system, the wall clock of my room, the only oxygen in my head, the only rock in my universe, the only river whose water I can drink. My sweetest, dearest, talented, fantastic, fondest, extraordinary paragon of beauty, be mine today, be mine tomorrow, be mine for ever. Let us live and die together, buried in the Garden of Eden with our love. Say Yes, Queen Risi. Only a weak Queen says No.
Listen to what the Lord says. He says we should ask and we shall be given, we should seek and we will find, and that we should knock and it will be open unto us. I am this 10th day of the seventh month in the year of our Lord, one thousand, nineteen hundred and sixty-four, asking, seeking and knocking at the door of the only Queen. Open the door so that thy servant may enter. Herbs & Charms 179
Queen Risi means love itself; the noun, pronoun, metaphor, oxymoron, thesis, antithesis, irony, conjunction and the adverb of love. Life has no meaning to me if I cannot wake up in the morning and behold your beautiful face, your long legs, your angelic eyes, your majestic lips, your fantabulous head, your smile.
You are a wise Queen. You realize the mountain that I want to climb, the ocean I want to swim, the desert I want to cross. If you say no, there will be no King for the Queen. My life will be like tea without sugar, like a snail without shell, a cow without horns, a car without a driver, a cup without tea, a town without people. Queen Risi, I am Adam, you are Eve. If you say no, I will not be alive to finish reading your reply. In fact I will kill myself.
What is life without Queen Risi? A man without love is like a fish out of water. Queen Risi, reply today through the bearer. God’s time is the best. This is the time for the Queen to meet the King. God has united us in the Garden of Eden. What God has put together let no man put asunder. A woman without a man is like a field without seed.
From one and only, Sali Kasali Your beloved, faithful, loyal, loving king Chisos!! Osanobua! Tamuno!! Chukwu biko!! See as you take one letter, scatter the mind of one small girl called Risi. And what was Risi's reply? I dey suspect say na you write love letter to my neighbour's sister, that time we dey for boundary junction, near Minna. Unfortunately, the letter fell into her father's hands by mistake, and he flogged her silly. Tell me the truth: "Did you end up marrying Risi, after all these grammatical gymnastics, in your love letter?" |

Going on a walk to agitate for the revival of Ajaokuta Steel Mill is a noble cause but more needs to be done to get it off the ground. A coalition of public technocrats and skilful private-sector engineers, financiers, project teams and commercial firms need to come together, to revive the plant.
The technology used in Ajaokuta was said to be obsolete. Others have claimed that this is untrue. The equipment needs to be overhauled, retooled and replaced, as soon as possible. To do that, massive funds are needed and skilful expertise.
The legal tangle that accompanied the privatisation of the Ajaokuta complex needs to be unravelled and finally put to rest. The matter is long, but give me time to finish up some work and come back here, to address these points. |
