Well, you are the one all over this thread claiming to be 'separating fight' or 'being the judge over both warring factions' when you're obviously biased and one-sided. It is an implied impression. Quit parading yourself as such, your 'outstanding track record' on this forum belies that which you seek to be.
Where did I parade myself as anything? shocked And which outstanding track record are you talking about, biko nu? huh Where and when was this so-called record launched? And where exactly did I claim to be separating fight or be a judge over warring factions? Must you lie to get your points across? For the last time, stop reading meanings that do not exist, into my words or my responses. Kindly stop chasing shadows. It does not suit you at all.

Exactly, you see Laudate taking sides with the first guy by ignoring him and calling out the second guy, and he thinks he's being unbiased in his judgment. Without the first guy instigating the war, there would be no war instead. The impression I am getting from Laudate here is that, oh you should not retaliate when attacked, just allow yourself to continue getting thrashed. Really? undecided
Again, your prejudice is showing. sad The first Yoruba guy made a comment. The Igbo guy responded. Did you see me saying anything at that point in time? No. Then the Yoruba chap replied the Igbo guy's remarks to him, only for the Igbo fellow to start complaining and alleging hate. That was what got my attention. Both of them were dishing it out to each other, so why should one person now start complaining and alleging unfairness and hate, especially after he himself had unleashed e-fisticuffs in the direction of his traducer? I have never said 'do not retaliate when attacked,' so stop putting words into my mouth. All I am saying, is that after you retaliate, then do not play the victim by alleging hate, especially when it is obvious that you have dished out the same brand of hate that you are now accusing others of giving to you. undecided Now, is that too difficult to understand, or do you want me to break it further down for you?? huh

I have seen you guys do this several times and it never ceases to amuse me. sad

If you can do the same, then you would be an excellent judge. Otherwise, your current state of mind disqualifies you to be a judge here given your 'outstanding track record' on this forum.
Where and when did I lay any claims to becoming a judge on this forum? shocked You guys are amazing. Stop reading meanings that do not exist into my comments. Go back and read all the posts that have been made by every single respondent on this thread, for better clarity and understanding, before you decide to quote me again. If you want the title of 'excellent judge', please go ahead and take it, if it makes you happy.

I certainly do not need it, as I have never seen myself as one. sad

the bolded conclusion is the problem. From what I read, the Yoruba guy was first to draw blood although the Igbo guy's retaliation was disproportionate.

the yoruba guy was also first to accuse the igbo guy of politics of hatred (This politics of hatred will take you nowhere)
And you did not see anything hate-filled in any of the Igbo guy's responses, ba?? The same Igbo guy that said "calling out an ethnic group using derogatory remarks," is not hatred. I guess it is a sign of affection and respect in his own area...

he is admits he is spewing hatred but he is also saying that the Yoruba guy spewed hatred first but is the first to accuse others.

I am neither yoruba nor igbo but i have seen that the tribalism/hatred is from both sides on this forum.
And so? huh The Yoruba guy was the first to make a derogatory remark, and AustineE1 responded with a remark that was even more vicious and vitriolic than his own. Didn't you see it? sad Then the Yoruba guy responded with another comment, and your friend AustineE1 got furious and accused him of hatred, after he himself had dished out uncomplimentary remarks in response to the Yoruba guy's post. Why?? My point is that both of them responded to each other in the same vein, so why is one person crying foul and coming here to complain?? undecided

Finally, yes - tribalism oozes from both sides of the divide, but if you do a content analysis, you would often see that one side is usually the first to draw blood.

Its either you are trying to be smart by half or you didnt read his first write-up,when he stereotyped Igbos as being 'clannish and incapable of being trusted with power'. Except hatred has other meaning which i dont know! Calling out an ethnic group in a derogatory manner is not hatred.
And you responded to him with vitriolic remarks that exceeded his own. sad So why are you now complaining?? Because he chose to reply to your vitriol with another comment that was not even as bad as your own? Is that why you are upset?? huh

Maka gini?? Why?? huh Kanu is a freedom fighter. And all good crusaders always end up in jail, at one point in time or the other. Mandela was in jail for 27 years, before his people could smell freedom and throw off the shackles of apartheid. Let Kanu take a leaf from his book. He has only spent less than a year in detention, and he is already complaining. There are still over 26 years left to go!

AustineE1:
Thats exactly my problem with you lots, you make statements laced with wickedness and hatred of the greatest order, you get a response with 'equal and opposite' reaction, you start complaining that it is 'politics of hatred'. Do you know the reason why Nigeria may never get it right? You people are so screwed to the point that you think everything should be about who becomes president, the rest of the free world are investing in great ideas, businesses, science, technolgy,ICT etc while you people are polluting the air space shouting 'the president is from my ethnic group'. Smell the coffee, quit being shallow minded!
At a time when most Igbo youths are peacefully pursuing the common goal of Biafra and you are still having sleepless night on who becomes the president. Stop calling out Igbos, they have long lost faith in Nigeria, tell your fellow 'loving' Nigerians to allow them go. Keep your presidency!
Every man on his own,God for us all!
Guy, why are you getting worked up? shocked You were the first person to launch hate-filled missiles in his direction, or have you forgotten? Were you not the same person who said: "...treachery and cunning is a thread mark of your people, even your Hausa Fulani masters can attest to this. Exactly why they played a fast one on Awolowo and Abiola in this yoruba game of treachery! Tell your people to quit perpetual servitude,it wont take you no where, reason why most of your youths are either motor park touts,Alaye boys(street urchins),Omoniles and political tugs...?"
Can't you see the hate oozing from your words? Why are you now upset that he chose to dish it back to you in the same manner? His response was even quite mild compared to yours'. If it had been my own tribe that you had described in such a manner, the response you would have received would have been twice as harsh as the one you made.

My advice to you is to take it easy. Respect is not given, it is earned. If you want someone to be polite to you, then try being polite to them, first! undecided

AustineE1:
must u tell us that you are a Yoruba man before making your statement, you should be worried that majority of Igbos are faring far better than majority of your people and your slave masters, even without being the president.
And of course, igbos didnt take Obasanjos statement serious because treachery and cunning is a thread mark of your people, even your Hausa Fulani masters can attest to this. Exactly why they played a fast one on Awolowo and Abiola in this yoruba game of treachery! Tell your people to quit perpetual servitude,it wont take you no where, reason why most of your youths are either motor park touts,Alaye boys(street urchins),Omoniles and political tugs while there mates elsewhere are hitting it big.
No pun intended, one Nigeria as usual!

Why does Buhari not use our local hospitals? huh Because he knows that most of our govt-owned hospitals have remained 'mere consulting clinics,' due to lack of adequate equipment, skilled hands, expert consultants etc. The poor or non-existent state of these essential items remain a common feature or a recurring decimal, in most of our public hospitals. So he chose to go to a foreign hospital, where such things are not in short supply, and where proper and adequate treatment is the norm, and not the exception. Abi, na who wan die? shocked

Anita the babymama should sue her also. You don't go dragging people in the mud just to make a few bucks.
Why should Anita the baby mama sue her? What would she gain?? Unless she wants to show her cluelessness to the world. Didn't Anita the baby mama know that Maje was married to Toke, before she decided to get pregnant for this same married man and have his baby outside wedlock?? sad

The truth is, if she lied about their relationship, the judge will have a lot to say. But if what she wrote about him in her book regarding their life together is true, then what is the whole self-righteous indignation about?
Was he defamed? Was his character assassinated? Was she lying on him when she said he had affairs with other women?
It is folly for one to deceive oneself, even if you succeed in deceiving the whole world. One can only remain true to self.
Also of note is the fact that it was already on the major blogs around that Maje had impregnated someone else even long before her book came out. She only just repeated what everyone knew, but now from her own perspective..

Meanwhile, regarding the invasion of privacy. It can be argued either way. Toke was telling her own lifestory, shes not a third party.
It would be interesting to know the law in Nigeria about such anyway.
Abi, o! Thank you, jare. undecided Most of those making comments here have NOT even read the book! Did she call him names or use four letter words on him? huh What kind of defamation, biko nu? shocked All she did was to say exactly what went wrong in their marriage and the roles that each of them played in contributing to its demise. All she quoted in her book were the facts! Isn't it true that he was having an affair with another girl, while they were married? Isn't it true that the girl gave birth to a child for him out of wedlock, while he was still married to Toke? These are the facts! Maje should either put up with it, shrug it off and lie low, or write his own book stating his own side of the story. Period! angry

By asking his lawyers to write to her, he is just giving her book free publicity. Now those who were not interested before, would get curious and rush out to buy the book! In fact, if one producer succeeds in turning that book into a film, Toke will smile to the bank for many months to come... sad

Wow! He saw his tomorrow very clearly.
What a miss by Chief Odutola, a glory that would have transcended his lineage among the Yoruba, giving what Awo became to them.

Fast forward: I was thrilled by his English giving the fact he didn't attend formal secondary school. Hardly you come across a Nigerian university graduate of today who could write as good as Awo did at 34.

So honest. Again, morally, his types have depleted or not even in existence any more.

I have my reservations for his role in the civil war, all the same, I respect him.
Honestly, Chief Adeola Odutola missed a glorious opportunity to be part of those who moulded the glorious destiny of that young man, Awolowo. He would have been regarded as a power broker or Godfather of sorts, to the late Premier. But then again, maybe the Good Lord wanted it this way - so that no single man could take credit for the success of Awolowo's pursuit of his law degree. Who knows? undecided
