What kind of silly, dirty announcement is this?? All the times there has been electricity outages on the Island, how come they have not announced it, and why are they now announcing this one? On the Lekki-Epe axis, power supply is so poor and erratic, that many homes can count the number of hours they have received power supply in a month, on the fingers of both hands. Yet, the bills still read the same high charges, without fail. The thunder that will fire Eko Disco is still doing push up at the edge of the Lagoon..!! |

jpphilips: An investment of this nature target foreign markets, except the NNPC will have to operate a form of domestic supply obligation. You need to sell LPG in usd to recover investment cost. There is already a domestic supply obligation in place. NLNG supplies 250,000 MT of cooking gas to the domestic market annually, and even bears half the cost of shipping from its Bonny terminals, to the Lagos LPG coastal depots. |

Castroii: how can u generalize that entry level salary for bank staff hover around 100-150k, whereas ET in gtb takes home 207k mnthly, and I doubt if its among d top 5 highest paying....... Bros NL is a very big forum with different class of pple, dont just come here and say just anything without being sure if not you will end up making yourself look stupid.... Peace. Nah, you are the one that will end up looking stupid. There are over 28 commercial banks in Nigeria. You have mentioned just one as paying 207k monthly, while 2 other people mentioned Access & Skye bank as paying over 240k monthly. Are you saying those 3 examples are the norm in all the other banks, which are the majority? I have worked with bankers before, and I know many people who are entry level staff in most banks. Their salaries in many banks are lower than what you quoted up here. Why don't you conduct your research on all the remaining banks before coming here to misyarn?? The banking sector in Nigeria is one of highest paying sector as far as salaries are concerned. What banks pay their workers however differs from bank to bank. This is partly due to the fact that there are no particular regulations that stipulate what private organisations should pay their workers. Also, the financial strength, customer base and performance of the bank are other factors responsible for how much a bank pays.
Here is what some banks pay their staff in Nigeria.
Zenith Bank Zenith bank which is regarded as one of the most stable and reliable banks in Nigeria as of today pays its entry level staff about N110,000 (One hundred and ten thousand) monthly, which comes to about N1,320,000 (One million, three hundred and twenty thousand Naira) per annum. This is reasonably good enough for young graduates who know what they are doing. Suffice to say that this payment subsists only for the probation period of about a year, after which the salary increases.
First Bank As the name implies, First Bank is seen by many as the strongest bank in Nigeria and the bank has many achievements to prove this point. First Bank’s pay for its entry level staff goes between N90,000 to N110,000 monthly depending on department or unit. And this increases with confirmation and as you grow in rank within the system. Though FBN is the oldest bank in Nigeria, many people still prefer to work there because they believe that the chances of job security here are higher than some new generation banks.
GTBank GTB stands as the bank of the masses, yet maintaining a very positive and professional outlook. GTB pays her staff at entry level the sum of N209,000 per month after confirmation, which makes it one of the highest paying banks in Nigeria.
Fidelity Bank Fidelity is one of the new generation banks, but has done quite well within a short period of its existence. The bank started as a Mortgage bank in 1988 and converted to a commercial bank in 1990. On the salary scale, it is doing pretty well too for its staff. Fidelity pays about N140,000 monthly at entry level, an amount many young graduates will agree is good enough to start planning life with in Nigeria.
Central Bank of Nigeria It is also good to know what the apex bank pay its staff. CBN does one month training for its new intakes and pays N122,000 per month afterwards. This is aside the many mouth-watering allowances. Many industry watchers say CBN is the master when it comes to allowances. So what is lacking in actual salary is made up for in allowances. https://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/what-nigerian-banks-pay-their-workers.115180/ |

There are igbo streets in Kano and Lagos, Sabon gari kano is all littered with igbo named streets, a certain part of the city was renamed Nomansland and the Kano govt accepted it. Go to Onitsha and see Nupe Square, Bida road (Bida is a town in Niger state), Sokoto road, go to Aba and see Dan Fodio Road, Mosque road etc. Go to Enugu and see Adelabu street, Ademola street, Brainthwate street etc. Nobody have any apologies for your inferiority complex and lack of adventure. The Niger delta are being deceived of igbo domination while those that tell them to resist igbo domination are begging for igbo domination to their economic advantage. Igbo men just won HOR in Lagos. Hausa and Yorubas are afraid of Igbos leaving their land, they make sure the Niger delta live in panic of the igbos and remain anti igbo, while they (yoruba and hausa) keep tapping from the economic prowess of the igbos. Calabar and Warri has all it takes to beat Lagos, the only reason they will never come close to Lagos is Lack of Igbos. Niger delta minorities live in delusion that somehow igbos will be supressed and this will cure their minority status. Nonsense way to think, the only solution to your minority status is to have a merger with igbos, there are more minorities in the North than south, the fulanis are even killing them but yet, they maintain the Arewa political block with the Fulanis and somehow, they are regarded and Northerners and have a better say than you lots. No, I believe you wanted to write: "The referendum should not be limited to the so-called SE/SS because of the inherent presence of Ndigbo, ( but include the Igbo people resident in Kogi and Benue States) or only areas where there are Igbo as indigenes of the states..." Kogi and Benue States contain different ethnic minorities. jsaak: While it is a good thing for Messrs Sahara Energy and a few individuals at NNPC, this does not appear to bear well for Nigeria, why? NNPC is in a joint venture with SE to supply Nigerian gas to lift under the Cabotage act. The vessel is NOT registered in Nigeria, so there is will not be registry income to Nigeria and as I saw in the picture again, there is NO Nigerian seafarer onboard, so it is a "Nigeria" vessel that we should all celebrate with no quantum of inputs from Nigeria! There are qualified gas seafarers from NLNG that would have made Nigeria proud on these vessels, a Nigerian registry could have helped our flagging fleet! Finally, 38,000mt for both vessels means they're made for river ports! River ports, in what sense? What is the draught at the jetties where these vessels will be loading & off-loading the gas? That is what you should consider. Larger vessels will run aground and get stuck, if they go into shallow waters or inter areas where the draught is not deep enough. |

Before the advent of Christianity, Igbo families often held naming ceremonies for their newly born or after circumcision conducted 8 days or two native market weeks after birth if male. Anybody who says otherwise does not know Igbo culture. Re-ea-ally??! I was called all kinds of nasty epithets a few years back, when I told some chaps on that thread that a naming ceremony is part of Igbo culture. Here is one of the responses made on that thread: Donzman: @Laudate The link you posted has vindicated me, it has also called on you, TerraCotta and the rest to admit you were wrong. There was no naming ceremony mentioned in that article, the article clearly described the process most Igbos go in naming their kids. They name them after the experiences pre-during-post pregnancy, there is no OFFICIAL ceremony where people gather just to name a kid.
Now Thiefofhearts, Laudate and TerraCotta, where is the apology to Donzman, Babyosisi and the other people who have been banging it into your heads that we do not have naming ceremonies?
P.S.: After reading that article, we still have people who think Ikwerres who name their communities in the same exact pattern, Umu-this, Umu-that are not Igbos, people need to be more honest with themselves! https://www.nairaland.com/59913/what-significance-yoruba-tribal-marks/6 |

1bkaye: It's not baseless though, in fact it applies to most men regardless of country to be honest. Places like Nigeria especially though because misogyny is very much deep rooted in our system.
Lmao, I've not only listened but observed for myself and come to the conclusion that it's a very solid assertion.
Most Nigerian mens' qualms with women who are successful are the traits that tend to come with it. Successful women tend to be more self confident, self assured, independent, assertive, emotionally stable, self sufficient etc than average and they can find this intimidating because she's less likely to be as easily controlled as someone who is more easily subjugated. So whilst they may not mind someone with a good career on paper (although I still maintain that this sef can still be an issue because of ego and the whole 'man of the house provider' thing) and smart enough to not be considered stupid, they want that to be as far as it goes as the other traits give her more leverage to be able to challenge him (as you've actually confirmed lmao).
Lmao, what's wrong with being opinionated and decisive? (in other words, actually being able to challenge him like I said). I don't doubt that there are some instances of some women being overly aggressive, disputatious, confrontational etc but at times it's just a case of a genuinely assertive woman being misbranded and confused as 'bossy' and 'abrasive' because we've been socialised to see it as 'masculine' trait and 'unladylike' so people are more shocked when they are and view it more negatively even though a guy is doing exactly the same thing.
You can be assertive, bold, challenging etc and still be 'warm', 'affectionate', 'nurturing' and 'thoughtful', they aren't mutually exclusive characteristics. Call a spade a space, most Nigerian men just want doormats else are intimated. Babe!! You don research this matter, well-well! |
Celebrities › Re: "I Have Never Wanted To Be Married" - Funmi Iyanda Says. Nigerians React by laudate: 11:26pm On Jan 18, 2017 |
Kondomatic: A very baseless assertion there.
Now lemme educate your a little.
Men want from their woman what they can't get from their friends and business associates. Things like warmth, affection, nurturing, thoughtfulnes etc. Men want women that will support and encourage them not challenge them.
Don't listen to the people that say that men feel intimidated by successful women, it's false.
Women who think that the reason they're still single is because their wealth intimidate men are simply looking for any available excuse to give.
The real reason is that many successful women don't know the difference between what makes one successful in his or her career and what makes a successful marriage.
Men love successful women but problem arises when the qualities that make a woman such a big success cross over into the relationship.
In a woman’s career, she may rise to the top by being very opinionated, aggressive and decisive. But when these same qualities cross too far into the relationship, we don’t like it.
We appreciate an accomplished, successful woman but we don’t want to have to come home to a stressful, competitive environment after spending all day in a similar type of work environment. Bros, what did you just say here? "Don't listen to the people that say that men feel intimidated by successful women, it's false." Haba!! You just fall my hand, big time!! Instead of you to just speak for yourself, you are here trying to speak for all the malefolk including those that have serious self-esteem issues. I know many men, who are intimidated by the success of their wives or the success of women around them! My former boss was a classic example. He refused to promote any of the women in my dept., despite the fact that they were skilled, knowledgeable & hardworking. His wife had one of the best results in her ICAN final exams, and actually got job offers from two multinational firms immediately the results were released that year. They got married rather quickly after her results came out, only for him to forbid her from taking up any of those offers, and he even made her resign from where she was working, at that time. His excuse? The firm was not paying her much anyway, and it would be a waste of time for her to work! Bros, that is just one small example out of many. You need to see the way he talks down to her in public. He does so in a highly condescending tone. And each time he sees a picture of a successful woman in the papers or on TV, his next comment would be: "Only God knows what these ones are looking for, sef!" Another of my friends dumped a lady he was dating, simply because she got promoted and her new position came with a car! Meanwhile, he was still using his leggedez-benz, to trek all over the place! The lady in question was quiet, prayerful, humble and hardworking, but he just couldn't see all that. |
