Big deal.
Don't most banks have mini ATM card rigs in every branch now? It's as simple as importing china made rfids for a penny on the dollar and imprinting them en masse.
Oga, stop talking about what you do not know. sad It is not just the production of the blank cards, but the design as well as security chip & pin, embedded in the cards, that are the issue.

If Visa, MasterCard etc have not given you the EMV certification or approved your bank's image as well as the embedded security codes in it, your cards will not work on ATMs or POS terminals across board. shocked

These cards are designed to receive and process data, the minute they are inserted into an ATM or POS. The whole process goes beyond just buying blank cards. undecided

You are only seeing the end of the whole process, which takes place at the bank branches. You have not seen all the important production stages which goes on before the cards arrive at the bank's branch. sad

The banks themselves get the cards from companies like Secure ID, or Berkeley-Cupola or other firms, that have been certified by Visa, MasterCard etc, to produce the blank cards and carry out the personalisation of such cards.

And because petrol is subsidised, the oil industry is losing billions in naira...which means it cannot make investments in facilities, including increasing gas production.

Because, let's be honest...we flare lots of gas into the air because it is cheaper to do so.
When people like you do not understand the dynamics of the oil industry, yet you want to argue about it, you end up looking dumb.

First you talked about gas, and said it was because of subsidy, that there were no investments in that area. I corrected you that gas is NOT subsidised in any way, only petrol enjoys subsidy. sad

Now you are saying the oil industry is losing money because petrol is subsidised, which is why they cannot make investments into the gas sector.

You have got it all twisted. Investment in gas gathering facilities or gas production, has nothing to do with petrol subsidy.

Did a company like NLNG that has been producing gas for years, or Chevron or Shell Gas tell you anything like that? shocked huh Chevron has been producing LPG propane gas for export, for years in Nigeria. Did they tell you that petrol subsidy affected them? shocked

The subsidy only affects the refining of oil, or production, marketing and distribution of white products i.e PMS or petrol.

The reasons for inadequate investment in gas, are far too diverse and too complex to be attributed to petrol subsidy. angry

Oh, so you only went to London and you are misyarning like this? Did you go to the countryside and places outside London, which are far from the city? Did you go to different parts of the UK, in rural Scotland and Wales? Abeg, go and sit down. Even in the UK, not every part of Britain has gas piped into homes.

That's because the government subsides the petroleum industry...which crucially makes many oil companies not make enough proifit...and which restricts investment in the downstream sector.

If we removed subsides...allowing oil companies to make their profit...this would attract more investors, who would build more facilites for gas processing....and gas piping. Good thing...government won't need to spend a dime.

But since Nigerians don't like paying high prices...we use subsidy to keep prices low...and things get worse.
Oga, stop peddling false info. angry Cooking gas is not subsidised, in any shape or form. We pay the local equivalent of international price, for cooking gas in Nigeria.

Only petrol is subsidised. That is why cooking gas is more expensive locally, than petrol in many areas. Even diesel is no longer subsidised, as the subsidy was removed a few years back. undecided

Yet this mumu is talking about cylinders
And many fools dey say its a nice development
We can never move forward as long as we have hailing fools
Why do people like you keep talking without any insight or rational analysis? sad Are you the one that will lay the pipes, or do the reticulation to pipe gas into buildings in Nigeria?

Do you know how many years and how much funds it would cost to do that all over Nigeria, with the level of infrastructure we currently have? shocked

Why do you people like to castigate everything, but cannot provide solutions? huh In India and many parts of South East Asia as well as Latin American countries, gas is still sold in cylinders. Even in rural parts of the US and Canada, especially in off-grid homes, gas cylinders are common. Pls don't talk about what you do not know. angry

ItIn simple terms an interference engine gets valves bent when the timing gives way in motion or when it is not in motion and you kick the car and engine rolls.

"valves aren't expensive but the job is" means each valve could cost you not more than 2 to 3k for quality but the job is a tough one, engine has to be brought down opened and dismantled, bent valves removed and Engine internals scrutinized for other faulty components like seals, engine block, piston damage if non then it has to be coupled back exactly with the right torque wrench for bolts grin. in other words your average Joe doesn't have the required expertise or tools for doing it. The engine though will work but won't last.

Nice one NBC It’s in Order
NBC is not in order. There is nothing in the Act setting up the NBC that allows it to use brute force and soldiers, to shut down an erring station. NBC should have sued AIT to court, after investigating the facts. If court verdict is then given in favour of NBC, then it could have shut down the station in a civilised way.

Lagos would actually have gone down,if not for the betray of ifejuana,Alale,Agbam, and the humble victor banjo. The Biafran forces has already captured,Abuchi, igueben,Benin,as stronghold, advancing down ore,now if you don’t understand your history.
The federal army, was actually made of more middle belt infantry men, with the north and east holding on to high ranked position. Especially the east, who where the best experienced then. The yorubas actually had little to no army power. At ore, prior to that point in time, the northern shoulder had already been sent north, and western shoulders in the north down south.
It’s in every humans nature to gamble, and everyone has a choice banjo, ifejuana made theirs out of their gamble, return back to Enugu, kill Ojukwu, declare a cease fire, and win the respect of the head of state and your own people, who chastise you(banjo). He’ll be made governor of the west, ifejuana to the east,of which they’ll run a coup ousting Gowon to make Awolowo the prime minster. Unluckily the American attaché to Nigeria who was at Umuahia got a transcript of banjo conversation with Awolowo via the British high commission. Banjo withdrew his troops back down to Enugu without firing one shot in the Midwest, not one. Those men where not saving no millions of people,it was all personal interest and vandettas. And posterity did judge them, even the great Awolowo said it in his bio, that he regretted never seceding the mid west.
Most of you look at the war and think it’s ojukwu’s war no it’s wasnt,it’s a people’s war,the Biafran knew their fate was sealed, but would take no more of the redundant stsytem that doesn’t work. So instead of you to insult, rather salute a man who fought for not just the biafrans but for Africa, cause it died in Biafra.
It is pure conjecture on your part, that Lagos would have fallen. shocked The Federal Govt had a superior army, adequate ammunition including fighter jets, and well-trained soldiers, in Lagos. sad

Even if Banjo had kept to the plan, he and his entire team would have been decimated within an hour of getting to Lagos.

Check transcripts of American Embassy dispatches during that period, as well as records of scholars who researched the war. Banjo would not have stood a chance. Ojukwu was banking on the element of surprise, but the battalion he deployed for the job, was grossly ill-equipped for that assignment. undecided

You are actually the ignorant one here (including the guys that cheered you). What he said is right. About six years ago, I personally saw a train at the Jebba station (Kwara State) conveying stacks of empty 40ft containers towards the South (from up North). I even engaged the driver and some others in a chat (because they stopped over in Jebba) and the junior shunting guys spoke of the arrival of 'computerized' locomotives at the port in Lagos. It was not long before they moved off. The locomotive had 'Dame Patience Jonathan' inscribed on it. Earlier in that month, a non-passenger train conveying wheat (or so) had derailed at high speed very near to the Jebba station (from the approach at the paper mill axis).

The guy is right; you are wrong.

P.S.: I won't argue with you over what I am sure of.
Thank you for educating the clueless, my brother. A lot of people argue about what they do not know or what they lack info on. When Buhari and his team were campaigning in 2012, they took train rides to different destinations in the southwest.

In 2010, the Lagos to Otta rail line was revived and it has been in operation since then carrying passengers and cargo.

“From December 2010, Lagos District passenger trains have been increased from six to eleven daily using the recently rehabilitated up mainline.

“The first and second trains leave Ijoko and Agbado simultaneously by 5.30am to arrive Iddo by 6.45am/7.34am.

“Another one leaves Ijoko by 6.20am and arrives Iddo at 7.56am while two more trains leave Ijoko by 10.20am and 2.20pm to arrive at 11.56am and 3.56pm respectively and from Iddo, five other trains depart from Iddo at 8.00am, 12noon, 4.15pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm accordingly and each arrive Ijoko within a transit period of one hour, twenty minutes.”

Another observation on the train is that all kind of people are found in the coaches, from the low class to the highly placed, everyone in their own world and looking forward to getting to their respective destinations. https://www.cometonigeria.com/news/nigerian-railway-system-is-back-on-track/
