A lot of women waste their time in relationships that are heading nowhere, because they are in love with a fairytale picture called love, and are not taking time out to study the person they are involved with. It isn't the length of time you spend in a relationship that is the issue, but how much of your partner that you have gotten to know, in that long or short time you have been together, that matters. As a woman, you need to ask: How does my guy view & handle money? Does he see it as a means to an end, or an end in itself? Is he ready to do anything to get it or can he walk away from it, if he feels tha stakes are too high? What are his values & virtues? His likes & dislikes? How does he handle anger? What motivates him, turns him off etc.? Can you guarantee that if he hits serious money tomorrow, he won't turn his back on you, and run after that fine, little 'Sisi' in a miniskirt? How does he get along with my family? What kind of respect does he have for me? Does he value my opinions and my actions? For goodness sake, ASK questions about anything you need to know!!As a man, you also need to ask: What are the things that my girl holds dear? What values does she have? What are the things that can lead her into a screaming fit and what are the things that give her the greatest pleasure? How does she treat those that are close to her? How reliable, hardworking, spiritual, prayerful and caring, is she? What is the most important thing in her life? "Who" and "what" are the things she values most? How does she handle conflict? What is her breaking point etc.? Can you honestly love her the way she is, care for her, inspire her to be the best she can be, and guarantee that when the chips are down and all else fails, she will be by your side? The issue is not wether you court for 1 year or 4 years. The issue is 'have you learnt enough about your prospective partner to be comfortable enough, in marrying him or her?' ![]() At every stage, do a quick emotional check to make sure both of you are on the same page in that relationship. Ensure that you are not thinking "our relationship is going to end with a happily-ever-after," while your partner is thinking "how-do-I-get-out of-this-thing-without-making-a-scene?" |
Naturalle:A close mutual friend that he never bothered to tell his girlfriend about & didn't introduce to her, until he had already made her his house guest?? Jeez!! ![]() Did he inform his babe before the other girl landed, that a female friend would be coming for a visit? ![]() Did he make it categorically clear to the visiting chic, that he was in love with his girlfriend? Did he act all 'romantic' with his girlfriend in front of the visitor (e.g affectionate touches, hugs, pecks etc)? Why didn't he suggest to his girlfriend that the visitor should stay with her, since she was a fellow woman and he was a man, and he didn't want anybody to get any funny ideas? Abeg, make di girl forget the guy, o jare! Is it when he takes the other chic to the altar, that she would know for sure he has been playing her? ![]() |

Jiro, Try the waterside in Port-harcourt. Talk to those women who sell fish in the markets, as a lot of them have relatives or friends that are fishermen, who supply them with fish to sell, on a daily basis. But let me warn you, it isn't likely to come cheap o! |

Hmmn. . . . .interesting perspective! Shugalump, do you want the honest truth? Dat guy doesn't love you. . .ehm, lemme re-phrase that. He loves himself more than he loves you. Ignore the fact that he has told his friends that he loves you. He may have been saying it in jest, or just to save face. A man who truly loves a woman will always want to hang around her, and keep her close to him. Love is a noun, but it is also an active verb. If he isn't showing it, girl. . .it means he ain't feeling it! ![]() May the good Lord give you the grace to move on with your life! Believe it or not, there is someone out there, who will value you, love ou & tell you all about it, if only you care to detach yourself from a relationship that is going nowhere. the original poster was right. The silent treatment is all about wielding power, inflicting pain & showing who is boss. A man who truly loves you will not subject you to that! ![]() |
almondjoy:Thank you, o jare! Na true word una talkIslander:Ain't that the truth! Unfortunately the most guilty are the loudest here!--You know yourselves. When you are attacked for expressing yourselves, others think they have found their missing doormats. Forgeting that in this faceless and nameless world of Nairaland, we still have feelings. I agree with you. If you spit on ma face-- I certainly will puke on yours. . I actually tried the 'turn-the-other-cheek' attitude initially, (when I first joined this website), but later realised that some folks saw it as an excuse to launch more rude missiles in my direction, because they misinterpreted such silence for weakness. Later on, I tried the 'let's-appeal-to-their-reason' approach. Did it work? Whosai??! ![]() I have since discovered that the only language such people understand, is the 'tit-for-tat' response. Since then, I have learnt to respond in kind to anyone who uses vile language on me, when it is unprovoked. Love44:Stereotypes would still exist, even if people decide to stop dating outside their own ethnic group, today. Stereotypes are formed & perpetuated by lazy minds devoid of intelligence, and folks who are too lazy or backward to search for the truth. So they would rather hang on to a label or a sick epithet, as a means of defining an entire group. If you do a simple survey, you would find out that those who peddle such negative stereotypes about other groups, have people who share those same negative traits in their own backyard, or within their own ethnic group. ![]() Like I keep saying, the good, the bad & the ugly exist in every single tribe, district, region, street and ethnic group. There are no holy saints, anywhere. Just be true to yourself and keep doing what you can, to be the best of every good thing, that you can be! ![]() |
Love44:Love44, abeg no vex jare. I think Toshman was only joking. A lot of men secretly admire Efik & Ibibio women, and long for them. . . .but many of them don't have what it takes to keep them. Efik & Ibibio women are cool!! ![]() |
Uche2nna:Oh thank you! But if we all don't brainstorm and try to analyse the various causes objectively & thoroughly, how can we even get ideas to resolve the situation? I have always believed that the problem of the north has been poverty, ignorance and lack of resources among other things. The elite use these things as tools, like you rightly said, to keep the masses in subjugation. The almajiris are drawn from among the talakawas - the poorest of the poor. And they imbibe teachings that have been wrongfully interpreted to them, by their teachers. A lot are brainwashed during their Arabic education. They learn many of these verses by heart, and are not taught to understand or critically examine & apply the decent parts of it in a positive sense, to their daily lives. And because they do not even understand it, they cannot decide objectively what parts of the hadith or Qu'aran should be kept, modified or even jettisoned, if it isn't compatible with the modern world, or if it doesn't fit into their current lifesyle.Parents of the almajiris do not have funds or reseources to send their kids to schools to get a Western education. So they ship them off to Arabic schools where the fees are low or non-existent, and these kids are turned to street beggars by some of their teachers, in their bid to survive. They are also the first set of people recruited by extremists when things get hot. In fact, what we need is a strong President and an empowered civil society, (both within the North & outside of it) which will hold Northern governors accountable for providing free, massive doses of Western education, in order to prevent these kids from going through further brainwashing in the hands of the mullahs. The best hope for getting this done, is to have a federal government that makes their re-orientation and education, a top priority. They need to be taught how to think objectively, and learn the basic things that would make their lives work and cause them to live in peace with their neighbours. These almajiris attend Arabic schools which are cheap and widely available, because they can't afford to get a Western-oriented education that will free their minds, and impart true knowledge into their brains. How many children of the rich political elite in the North are almajiris? How many of them take to the streets to brandish cutlasses and matchets to mow down Christians, during riots? It is the brainwashed children of the poor that the elites use, to achieve their nefarious ends after giving the mullahs in charge of these kids, some money. ![]() Like you rightly said, if Nigeria does not pay attention to this army of unemployed, brainwashed youths called almajiris, then this problem is going nowhere. And the issues in the Niger-delta could end up being child's play, compared to the mayhem they could unleash in the years to come. Don't forget that many of the brainwashed kids of the 'sixties are now adults, carrying around the same mentality that their fore-fathers had. So if nothing serious is done to stem the tide in the next few years, the cycle will still continue. |
Isn't it funny how Laudate shifts her position depending on the situation? ![]() the Islamic religion supports jihad, and the killing of infidels. So, what is there to understand? Guess who said the above? Our girl,Laudate Don't believe me?Check out this thread.Post 8-https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=77592.msg1490852#msg1490852
Yup. . . .I made that statement!! So what is your point? And how does it conflict with all the posts I have made here? I don't recall stating that I supported Islam, in any of my posts, in this thread. All I have been saying here, is that we don't know how to keep the peace. And we should do some research & find out how other Islamic countries have managed to avoid Muslim-Christian conflict. So what is wrong with that?? Did anybody listen to me? No. They turned the whole thread into an 'Islam-bashing' thingy, and till now very little coherent analysis or suggestions have been put forward. You guys can keep bashing Islam & Islamic countries till kingdom come, it is no skin off my back. We all know that is the favourite occupation of some folks in here. But it doesn't add anything new to the debate, & doesn't offer any suggestions or propositions or solutions that would reduce or eradicate the Muslim-Christian conflict in parts of the North!! ![]() Yes. . . .we already know Islam supports jihad, and the killing of infidels, but it isn't practised that way in several Islamic countries and Muslim-christian conflict isn't as pronounced in them, as it is in core parts of the far North. Why?? That is the question that needs to be answered. So why can't the continuous bashing do this simple task, or produce any suggestion of value, or shed any enlightenment on the whole issue? And which of the more decent ways that such Islamic countries have adopted to avoid Muslim-Christian conflict, can be adapted or replicated here? |
davidylan:Oh, my level of comprehension is pretty low? Um, were you the one complaining about personal attacks a while ago?? Jeez!! As for Dubai being a tourist destination, when did you point that out? After how many pages of latching on to Saudi, as if that was the only place mentioned in that post? davidylan:No you can't see anything, except what fits into your hate-filled vision. No one asked you to applaud the Saudis. All that was pointed out is that Christians are not killed in a predominantly Islamic country like Saudi, with the same frequency with which they are attacked & killed in certain parts of the far North. Um, I forgot. . . .such a comment doesn't fit into your world view. davidylan:Yeah, and since neither you nor your side-kick have been able to diagnose the root causes, (except to rant & rave about Islam, which is your favourite past time) who are you to talk about silliness? |
nwando:You don't read most of them?? Now what part of the Bible has that inscription - "Thou shall not lie??"Truthfully,I don't read most of them.now buzz off with your chatty self Confess that you have read my posts, and I shall be merciful. I might even decide to forgive you. |
almondjoy:Ah, omo. . . . .give up on me, ke? Haba! No try am o! |
nwando:You just love dishing out dirty words, don't you? And what syndrome do you have? A laudate-bashing syndrome??! Let us know. ![]() nwando:You don't read them, so what was going on with that reply you gave me, in the Muslims' thread about Saudi & Dubai? You don't read my posts, yet you know that the 'reasonings are way out there?' Hmmn. . . .now how would you know where the reasonings are, if you didn't read them? And how would you know that laudate disagrees with sensible reasonings, if you don't read my posts? How on earth did you ever get an insight into their contents, to be able to know what kind of reasoning, permeates them?? Um, let me guess. . .did you use telepathy?? Or clairvoyance? |
davidylan:Don't let this hatred blind you. You are so fixated on Saudis, yet I also mentioned Dubai in the same breath. It took an extra "how many pages", before you conceded the fact that the word 'Dubai' was there at all. As for noise, you too have been making a lot of it, especially each time you find it so hard to acknowledge the basic points that have been made. Am yet to see any objectivity in here. When people have concrete, workable, sensible solutions to the carnage, (instead of bally-aching about Islam which doesn't add anything new to the debate) let them paste it here, for others to read. Until then, sayonara. |
almondjoy:True!! Well said!! ![]() |
almondjoy:Let us hope some people will understand this basic concept. Seun asked another question in the preceding pages. Seun: Quote from: SeunMaybe nwando will give us an answer soon with all her knowledge of the Qu'aran & the hadith! |
davidylan:No one is looking for a jail-free card, although you might be needing one soon. My post did not focus exclusively on Dubai, neither did it focus exclusively on Saudi, so what is your point? And if Christians are not killed, but are persecuted for their faith, whipped and deported, isn't that still better than the carnage in some far Northern parts of Nigeria? Or are you suggesting that killing them outright, would be more acceptable? You never even acknowledged the fact that I spoke about Dubai initially, when you were ranting about my using Saudi as an example. Yet, you claimed to have read my post more than five times!! Jeez! Why am I not convinced? ![]() davidylan:I never for once in any of my posts used Saudi as an example of a place, where freedom of religion thrives. All I stated in one of my previous posts, was that Saudi, Dubai & a few other nations are Islamic countries. And Christians don't lose their lives in such places, as much as they do in some parts of the North, down here. So why don't we research that? Your partner-in-hate nwando did not go through my post with an open mind, before she launched brickbats in my direction. You merely followed suit. Na wa o! ![]() |
davidylan:Oh I see. . . .that was your definition of a personal attack. Hmmn. . . .loosen up. It was not a personal attack, unless you choose to interprete it as one, and it was still far more polite than the nasty epithets you had unleashed on several other people in this thread. Oh by the way, have you forgotten that you used the word 'numbskull' when reffering to me?davidylan:And kindly re-read my post with some measure of understanding, without letting your usual anti-Muslim hatred blind your mind. My previous post focused more on Dubai than Saudi, and to the best of my knowledge, Christians are not dead on shot on arrival at Saudi or Dubai airports. They are persecuted for their faith, and whipped when they practise it openly or publicly, but are not killed as frequently, or to the same extent as in some far Northern states in Nigeria. For the record, what I stated was: laudate: Quote from Laudate post no.« #139 on: October 06, 2007, 06:33 PM »The part in bold type was my main focus. As for the oil workers from Western countries who are expatriates, if they do not carry their bibles with them, (even though its' against Saudi law), from where do the Saudi authorities then get those Bibles that they seize on their soil? The article below talks about Christian persecution in Saudi, but also makes another point: Of these charges, only the last was true - Mr O'Connor was in possession of Bibles, including one in Arabic, for use in his Bible study for expatriates of different nationalities, which met in his home. Under Saudi law, expatriates are allowed to meet privately and discreetly for religious practicehttp://www.human-rights-and-christian-persecution.org/saudi-arabia.html |
nwando:Hehehehe. . . .are you suffering from PMS?? Why this show of aggression? I have attended ceremonies in Igbo land. Yes. . .now why does that offend you so much? There was a girl who was classified as an osu in my workplace. . . .yes. Why does that hurt you so much? Igbos have kings. . .ehm, am not sure I ever made this statement, but I guess the title Obi of Onitsha, Eze of Nnewi and words like Igwe etc. are part of the lexicon in Alaigbo? Are they not? So why are you offended? I have relatives drawn from different parts of Nigeria. . .true! Why are you bothered by that fact? Do you want me to disown them? Not everyone's forbears come from the same village, you know!! Kindly free your mind! And please why did you say I posted blatant lies? Please go back & re-read my previous posts. And kindly digest each word in it, before you come back to attack me, if that isn't too much to ask. ![]() *One last word* you are actually the one derailing this thread by dragging up long-forgotten issues that have been discussed in other threads. ![]() |
nwando:Please who did I attack in this thread (apart from I-man who stalked & attacked me first), and what words did I use to 'attack' them? Are you okay? Madam, please re-direct your rabid hatred of Muslims and their religion, towards someone else. Abi I owe you? As for the previous post I made, I stated that some Christian tourists and business people that I know personally, who go to Dubai take their Bibles with them, when they visit the place. Who knows if they hide it in their hand luggage? Or can't you read? Must you exaggerate everything? I also stated that foreign workers in Saudi are likely to carry theirs, but you cannot go around publicly proselytizing or preaching. You jumped up to give an example of how Saudi Airways seized the Bible of an air hostess. Like I asked your friend Davidylan "is it only Saudi Airways that goes to that country?" I have heard that Kenya airlines also goes there, and I have not heard of any report that bibles were seized on board such planes. But I stand to be corrected. Are you absolutely sure that no single individual has a Bible in the whole of Saudi Arabia or Dubai?? And are you sure that no single Bible exists inisde that country?? Please note: am not defending Saudi Arabia. Am only trying to get at the reality. |
yemmight:Food vendors with decent environment hardly set up shop 'on the street' or at the roadside. And on Thursdays between 7 and 10 a.m, do they clean up the gutters which flow under the planks on which they have built their stalls? The Marina mamaput that you talked about. . . .is it the one that is located nearly opposite the First bank building?? If it is that one, that mamaput is definitely NOT on the road. |
