@Willywilly a.k.a Freewilly,

Please do not quote me out of context. Highlight the entire post I made, state clearly the issue that led to that statement, before you take one sentence out of the whole piece and wave it in the air as if Christopher Columbus just discovered America. Anyway, that is the kind of mumu-ish thing you specialise in, so why am I not suprised?  huh

The entire sentence was:

Period? You are entitled to your own oppinion which may not be correct. You cannot expect us to accept them as the gospel truth.

The political elite do not represent themselves only, they represent specific ethnic interest groups. You can deny it all you want.
Nobody is expecting you to accept anything as the gospel truth. Do your own research and if it conflicts with mine, paste the evidence here and let the public be the judge. Don't rely on hearsay to fan anti-Northern sentiments in cyberspace.

The political agenda of the political elite has always been their own belly and their own interests, irrespective of what part of the country they come from or claim to represent. If they claim to be representing any constituency, it is only on paper and by word of mouth. No one knows the name of the House of Reps member that is supposed to be representing my area or your own sef for that matter, neither do we know who the Senator is or what he stands for. They all rigged themselves into office, and celebrate their so-called achievements on the pages of Nigerian tabloids! The masses are the ones left to suffer. Ask Saminu Turaki what benefits the talakawas of his state enjoyed, as he was pocketing the billions he looted from the treasury!

I never said it's a no man's land, all I'm saying is that it's not Yoruba land. We're all Nigerians, I should have as much claim to any place in Nigeria as anybody from any other ethnic group, end of story. If this is not the case, then you will have to redefine what it means to be Nigerian. There's no reason why a Yoruba man born outside of Lagos can become Governor while an Efik born in Lagos cannot, what is the reasoning behind that?

It's either One Nigeria or not, no ifs and buts.
Donzman needs to learn about how Lagos came into existence, know the original inhabitants like the Aworis, Egun, 'Saro' etc. and acquaint himself with the fact that Lagos stopped being a capital since 1991, over fifteen years ago. Someone also needs to remind him that only Lagos Island up to Iddo terminus alone, was the former colony of Lagos. Other areas like Ikeja, Epe, Mushin, Ogudu, Yaba etc. were all firmly under the old Western region in the sixties, just like other parts of Yoruba land. Lagos as a state came into existence in 1967. In fact many historians classify Lagos as "an old Yoruba town." Anyone can read Encyclopedia Brittanica online, as well as many other articles about Lagos, to get a clearer picture. Yet, he still wakes up and says "all I'm saying is that it's not Yoruba land. . ." Well, only God knows what it is then, since Donzman has declared to us, what it is not. As a non-Yoruba Lagosian, I wouldn't make that kind of silly remark without proof. One needs to be sensitive to the feelings of the indigenes of a place, and live in mutual harmony and respect with them, by recognising their history and acknowledging the fact that they arrived there before you did. Last time I checked, Mercy Eneli an Igbo woman from Obosi in Anambra state, was a Mayor in Lagos City Council in the 'sixties and even has a popular street, named after her in Surulere area of Lagos. Maybe Donzman can tell us the names of all who prevented her from standing for election in Lagos, during that period and how many non-Yoruba Lagosians offered themselves up for election and were denied a chance to contest, based on their ethnic background.

I often tease my Yoruba friends who hail from Lagos & Isale Eko, as 'Eko for show' or party rockers, as a joke, but I wouldn't insult their sensibilities by denying that their area is not part of Yoruba land, or trying to act as if it is a so-called 'empty' region located in the middle of God-knows-where.

Nobody is obsessed with Lagos, Lagos is at the core of this issue because it is a MULTIETHNIC state. How can you say it is right for only one ethnicity to have the right to lead in a multiethnic state?. . .You need to go and look up what it means to be a country of different constituent ethnicities, you dumb bigot.

By your reasoning, Irish folks who expressed disgust at a Nigerian becoming mayor over a town over in Ireland are right. Stupidity!
Since you were the one who turned it into a multi-ethnic state and relocated it across the Niger, kindly point us to the part of the constitution that deals with the demographic composition of Lagos. Going by your reasoning, obviously Lagos was a vast, empty wasteland devoid of people before it became a multi-ethnic state. Last time, I checked nobody was preventing anyone from any ethnic group from standing for elections in Lagos state. Or did you offer to contest for elections into any office in Lagos, and someone denied you the ticket because you were from a particular ethnic group? Tell us o!

As for the Irish folks, please go to Ireland and debate their stupidity with them. Am sure they would give you a standing ovation!

It is as much your fault as it's the baby mama. If she was dumb enough to sleep without protection, she should be ready to face life. If she made a decision to not abort. She should be ready to face life as a single mother. See, what I am trying to point out here is this, we all choose the way we want to live. She chose to have a baby out of wedlock and she will have to live with that decision.

Yes, people sleep with others. Heck, the sex is sweet and you know deep down, you feel nothing for her. That if push turn to shove, you'll go with your GF. Believe me, girls know this, but some are stupid enough to think the guy is going to leave the GF for them. Yeah, wishful thinking.

Abegi, carry go jo. If her family wants you to marry her, tell them you will, when their daughter starts to tell the truth. I so hate liars!
Yeah, people sleep with others. And when they decide to do so, they should be straight-forward enough to take responsibility for their actions, accept the blame, acknowledge their error and stop trying to lay the reasons why things went wrong, at the doorstep of the other party, or start acting like a victim. It takes two to tango. Did the baby's momma impregnate herself? Gamers finished his misdeed, and had the guts to suggest an abortion after he was found out. Assuming the chic didn't bcome pregnant, he would have continued 'chopping' her for free. So where is the 'lie,' in this whole thing? Most women will tell you, that having a baby out of wedlock takes even more guts, than having an abortion. They think of the shame, the costs of bringing up the kid, the chances that anything could go wrong with the pregnancy or during childbirth etc. Yet, someone is here blaming the girl for NOT using protection and telling lies, instead of telling the guy to stop digging himself deeper into the hole in which he has found himself. Or did the girl hold a gun to his head and force him to sleep with her?? Men who decide to use women for sex, should be prepared to face the music when things go wrong, instead of offering cheap excuses. sad

Gamers said he loved his girl-friend. So why was he banging another chic? Ooops, he was trying to prove. . .just what exactly? That he was virile? huh So why didn't he use protection with the other chic? And am sure those banging sessions must have taken place more than once, over a period of time. This story reminds me of what happened to my neighbour's only daughter, last year. That young girl is now in the shoes of Gamers' baby momma. Simply because she was stupid enough, to fall for a smooth-talking dude who used her. If Gamers knew he loved his girl-friend so much, he should have kept his pants zipped, like I said earlier!! Period. angry

Who knows what other kind of excuses & stories, Gamers gave to his girl-friend each time he had to be with the other chic? Abeg, make I hear word. If you are man enough to sleep with a chic, you should be man enough to marry her, when push comes to shove. Or was Gamers' girl-friend denying him sex, when they were dating? Was that what led him to take solace outside? C'mon, let's hear more excuses!! undecided

No one is trying to steal Lagos from you, people from all ethnic nationalities should be treated as equals in Lagos. You can't say One Nigeria with exceptions when it suits you.
Here we go again!! Who is complaining of inequality? And who has been accorded unequal treatment?

All people are saying is that, when you come to a place, kindly accord the hosts some courtesy and relate with them on the basis of mutual respect. Period. You cannot go there and claim it is a no man's land, simply because at one time it was a federal capital. Those who were indigenes and lived there before it became a capital, nko? Did they become extinct, all of a sudden? And since it stopped being a federal capital, have those indigenes and their descendants moved, disappeared or gone into oblivion? Can a Kanuri man go to Onitsha and claim it is a no man's land, because it is the commercial gateway to the South-east?

It is like Christopher Columbus saying he discovered America, or Mungo Park saying he discovered River Niger. So what were the natives who lived on the banks on the river, doing? Folding their arms and waiting to be discovered?

Last time I checked, no one was preventing any Nigerian from owning property in Lagos. Go to the land registry in Alausa and see the names of those who have applied for Certificates of Occupancy, or title deeds to properties in Lagos. They cut across the length & breadth of all ethnic groups in Nigeria. So this issue of some folks whining about lack of property rights & inequality in Lagos, is nothing but sheer childishness.

This is very understandable. No one is, really! I've thought about leaving my GF but I can't bring myself to do it. I won't allow her to suffer for my mistakes and it'll be the last thing that I'll do to her.

Care for Baby mother too and I wont allow her to do this all alone. Can't abandon her. I've thought of a million and one reasons like she planned this, trying to trap me and all. But I just can't act like a typical guy faced with this situation.

The question remains - based on my resolve to take care of both women, how do I face her dad with these intentions? I'll marry my GF but hope to compromise and accommodate Baby mother if she doesn't get married in future! Nasty move but coming from guilt!!!!!!
Just listen to yourself. When you were busy sleeping with the Baby's mother, you didn't think she was trying to trap you then, abi? Now that there is a bun in the oven, you are ascribing one million and one reasons to her actions, as if it didn't take two to tango. Now, you want to marry your girl-friend in addition to having your cake and eating it, and you think things will work out between you two, despite the fact that you have cheated on her and there is living proof of your 'escapades'. How do you think the baby's mother will feel seeing you say 'I do' to someone else, after you have left her as a single mother? You even had the guts to suggest she should go for an abortion, in order to cover up your mistakes. You are really pathetic.  sad So you hope to compromise and accommodate Baby mother if she doesn't get married in future?! Gosh! You need help! Just listen to the garbage you are spewing out. How exactly do you propose to accomodate the baby's mother, pls? Kindly let everyone know. And if she gets married, you will stop the accomodation, abi? Kai! See wonder! Oh I guess, if she gets married, you will automatically abandon your duties to your kid.

Let us hope her father gives you the tongue-lashing you so richly deserve, and let us hope he turns down any offer from you to feature as a 'daddy' in his grand-child's life. Afterall, you didn't show his daughter any respect by using her, and getting her knocked up, then turning around to suggest an abortion. So I fail to see why the girl's dad should show you any courtesy. Go and see him. But be prepared for the worst. And don't blame him if he reads you the riot act, because you truly deserve it for being an ass.

All of una just dey talk grammar for here, as if di thing no dey happen for una side. Look, in the North, it is very common for parents to choose wives for their sons, especially the first sons. It is also common for them to arrange marriages for their kids, with or without the kid's consent. I had a female classmate that was married off at the age of 16, several years ago to a guy her father saw her talking to, on a few occassions. At first he warned her. But by the 3rd time he saw her saying hi to the same chap, he just went behind her back & married her off to the guy. Chikena. grin They now have four kids. She continued her education in her husband's house.

Another of my friends from the South-East dated an Efik girl for many years, without the knowledge of his parents. At that time, he had nothing. The girl stood by him and shared the little she had, with him. When he finally made some money, and decided to marry the girl, his parents refused flatly. sad

Later, he started dating a Yoruba girl, and again his parents refused to approve of their relationship. She wasn't from their place, was the excuse they gave him. It was much later his aunt introduced one girl from the next local govt. area to their own, to the chap. That was when the guy's parents finally gave their approval. smiley Tell me, have they not suceeded in (directly or indirectly) choosing the guy's wife for him?

It also happens for girls, as well. They keep parading different guys before their parents, and the dads & mums keep saying "No," until they finally see one that they like. Then they will quickly say yes, giving reasons that range from the sublime to the ridiculous, in order to make their pleasure (or displeasure) known. undecided Now, have they not successfully chosen a spouse for their kid, while managing to give him or her the erroneous impression that that he or she made the choice?

Abeg, where are all the Yoruba people on this forum? Na wey dem dey, sef? Can they come and hear dis guy? Chei! cheesy I beg, make I laugh well, well!! Nothing wey person no go hear for dis place!

How confused can a person be? Is this a case of someone suffering from self-hatred, or has he been brainwashed by other people?

Truly Jayon, does your mum think Yoruba life is a bunch of nonsense, too? And if you are so convinced it is a bunch of nonsense, then why not ask your mum why she gave birth to you through a Yoruba man, instead of having a baby for someone else from any other tribe, eh? *Please o, no offence meant to your mum. Am just trying to understand what led to your strange kind of reasoning.

You sound like you were brought up in one of those decadent slums or ghettos, and the way of life in those places has shaped your thinking and has formed your level of exposure.

Grow up and educate yourself, kid. Learn to free your mind.

Willywilly, you don't see anything wrong in insulting other ethnic groups, deriding them, poking fun at them and rubbishing them. But when it comes to your own ethnic group, you come out in full defence. You still have a lot to learn, but then since your brain is empty. . .it will take a long while before anything meaningful comes out of it. You and Dimka a.k.a Okoroamadi a.k.apilas and chichi81 as well as docokwy are birds of the same hate-filled feather, on the prowl! sad

denex:
This is very true. All Nigerians, must ensure that this woman does not survive this.

This should be the Nigerian peoples first major action against corruption and our first warning to those that want to corrupt public office.

You can imagine that this woman must have borrowed a N500 million loan to celebrate her birthday in the USA.

I was looking at this a an error on her part, some kind of mistake, but no, this woman must relinquish that position, leave the House of Representatives entirely, and finally be tried and face possible jailterm.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives must also be probed. How could he have vandalised that Government Residential facility to the extent that it will require hundreds of millions to Renovate?

THINGS MUST CHANGE.
When did she take a loan of 500 million naira to hold a birthday party in the US? And where exactly in the US, did the party take place? How much was spent on venue hire, decorations, catering, gifts etc.? All these things are easy to check in the States.

As for the amount quoted for renovation of her official quarters, has it been approved, disbursed, allocated or expended?

Was there a need to tear down the old structure and build a new one to replace it?

Will the 'new' house be built with marble, or coated with diamonds and platinum? Because to my mind, that is the only reason why such a huge amount can be voted as renovation costs for an ordinary house. Even at that, all those millions of naira is still way TOO much for the construction of an ordinary house, talk less of renovating one. Or are we  talking about renovating a ten-storey multi-purpose hotel plaza, and not a two-storey building used by the Speaker? Don't forget, the Deputy Speaker's house was also to be renovated. So both of them should be probed. I guess the Deputy Speaker will hold his own birthday bash in Switzerland. Who knows?

What baffles me most sha, is that of all the erudite, sensible ladies in the House of Reps. that hail from the South-West (like Abike Dabiri, Gbemi Saraki etc.) you mean this kind of woman was the only one that could be picked to preside over the entire House? Chei! shocked
