Lakson0001: Try to be in your normal self before you respond to people too. If you know Alibaba is not the govt that suppose to rise and provide for this people then why is he repairing those roads?? Or is it not part of the govt responsibilities??
Pls help yourself to think deep about the what's really happening and Use your brain to respond pls What is happening is nothing more than extortion. Those youths are trying to fleece Alibaba of money, upon which they have no right to lay claims. Try to engage your brain before you respond, next time. Alibaba owes them nothing. Why da heck is he supposed to 'rise' and provide for those people? Is he their father? Or did he bring them into this world? By repairing those roads, he is not just helping the commuters and the community, but also himself, as his vehicle too will not get damaged by potholes on that road, once such potholes are fixed. Shed this mentality of entitlement that is in your head, and try to reason properly. Did those youths give Alibaba money to keep for them, that they are now asking him to pay for fixing the road? It is youths like you and such Warri boys, that give other hardworking Naija youths a bad name! |

benfluleck: I can relate with this post as I have an uncle who owns a hotel and is about to shut it down, unfortunately, a lot of you commenting do not own businesses that is why you are making assumptions.
You can pay your tax every month of the year, that doesn't stop FIRS or LIRS coming up with their own figures after their inspection (yes they come and inspect businesses). So people who are not in the know let me tell you who you have to contend with if you want to attempt to start a business in hospitality.
I can't give exact figures but this is some of the figurea we have to contend with
Local Government - 500,000 a year for an entertainment license, road, water FIRS - 500,000 approx LIRS - 500,000 approx Environmental and Health - Levy - 550,000 Lawma - 220,000 Lassa - (I can't remember) NEPA - 12M a year: The light is terrible but what can you do. Disel - 8.6 M a year Tourism - (can't remember this amount Land Use - (definitely over a million)
All of these agencies will come uninvited for their inspection and all will threaten to close down your business. All of these agencies are justified in a reputable environment however they never use concrete figures but will use arbitrary figures based on assumptions of how well they think you should be doing.
An example: They told my uncle he was owing about 4Million for Payee. However when we checked their calculations we found the figures we gave them for our payments had been doctored, In their figures, it showed we had multiple cleaners earning about 5Million naira a month (for a hotel in Nigeria how ). We are still contesting this figure.
Where is the profit going to come from look at the NEPA bill Can you imagine??! Didn't I say that FIRS (including other govt agencies) employ cretins and imbeciles, as members of their staff? How can they say an establishment has "multiple cleaners earning about 5Million naira a month" ....does that even make sense? How much do cleaners earn? By the way, what da fvck is Environmental and Health Levy?? cc:lalasticlala, move to FP please. |

We were billed N3.5m on one of our sleeping companies. We eventually paid no more than . N250,000 including accountant's fees. In a sensible well-organised country, you should not even have paid up to 80k on a sleeping/dormant company, wtf? Govt agencies specialise in extortion and pay lip service to MSME businesses. themanderon: That is the sad story of this country. They will never give anything to you, but will scramble to grab everything off you like a band of cowboys killing off dreams in the process. Go to civilized countries and see how the government gives tax cuts and soft loans to small businesses, because they realized they are the ones that stimulate the economy and hereby increase the number of people employed in that economy. But here our government and their thieving agencies sit down and daily device ways of stealing from the people. Worse is you never get value for whatever you are being taxed for. Thank you! DualCore1: If your website isn't dealing with sensitive data, you do not need SSL. Now the question boils down to what you regard as sensitive data. In the past SSL was an expensive route to go through and only a few startup sites bothered to follow that route with one of the cheapest licenses like the Positive SSL license which is about $15 per year. The more serious licenses call for much more serious verification processes and are as expensive as $500 per year or even more (those sites you see with a green bar, respect them).
Now most host service providers in Nigeria offer free SSL with the basic hosting plans, thanks to cPanel's Auto SSL feature, Let'sEncrypt and Comodo. So if you have a website, ask your host if they offer the free SSL from providers like LetsEncrypt.

pandax: I reside in PH and not abroad. In fact the cost of PGS & IVF has gone down now. There are clinics like Nordica, Bridge and the rest in Nigeria that can comfortably carry out the procedure with their foreign partners. it is doable. I married my wife with my last N1m in my account and I knew that we were not compatible because of our genotype. I love her and was able to do it because we did not tell anyone except my mother-in-law who supported us. Till today, we have not done white wedding as most churches refused wedding us. I told my wife to follow me that God will see us through. Today, I have tens of millions within 2 years of marriage and my healthy triplets are on the way. Maybe, after delivery we will go back and see if churches will wed us. The fact that you are lucky to have tens of millions in your account within 2 years after your marriage, does NOT mean the next man or the next couple who follow your footsteps, would do so. IVF is still not cheap, and is still beyond reach for many people in today's economy. It is best to be practical, and NOT build castles in the sand. |

Fhowe: Nigerians just like to discourage one another it is even 150k we are no longer in the 80s and with competition it will still come down . How? Are you aware that most of the things used for these tests, are imported and dependent on availability of foreign exchange? What was the USD rate in the '80s, and how much is it now? In the '80s, what was the cost of a CS operation, and today how much does it cost now? tunjilana: Firstly there are two options for them and they both require courage and a lot of money
No 1. IVF (which can fail and is crazily expensive. genetic diagnosis + IVF could gulp close to 5-6 million for 2 cycles)---I advise they visit a fertility clinic and confirm the cost first
No 2. Prenatal diagnosis - Test the pregnancy at 10-12 weeks and abort if SS. This is emotionally draining and considering you are not clear on the number of abortions you will end up doing
In summary, this decision is not for the faint hearted or lazy. If your brother embarks on this option and funds become a major issue coupled with a wife who isn't financially ready as well, meeehn that love go evaporate o
I advise he goes about to understand the cost(financial and emotionally) of avoiding a sickle cell birth and if it is something they can deal then goodluck else simply find a woman you are compatible with.

Regards Tellemall: What if that SS child is the first or second child?
Looking at it mathematically, that particular 0.25 will occur randomly unless they have full control of other dependent variables such as their gene transmission, which we know they don't.
That is a rather high risk to take. Lives shouldn't be gambled on. God bless you both for speaking the truth! You have both said it all! Everyone is tossing around that word 'abortion,' as if it is a slang for a new tie or shirt. It is an emotionally draining procedure, for most women. I have a friend in church who had to go through it several years ago, and she still confesses that she has nightmares about the incident and keeps hearing the cries of a child, in her dream. Most of the time she wakes up restless, with a heavy burden of guilt on her mind. A woman would have to harden her conscience, in order to be able to go through that procedure, repeatedly. It takes a toll on them, emotionally! |

Cindino20: I m forced to drop my comment after reading this..it is not my place to tell an adult what to do...to each is own....
my brother have you thought about what you re about to get into and the implications of the advise you re dishing out. thinj about some of the points below.
to advise people or to get married when you both are carriers in a country like Nigeria with the very bad state of the health care and bad shape of the economy is actually not a wise decision.
Even if the would be couple were to reside in a country with free and more advanced health care system i wont advise them to go on.
Do you ve an health insurance plan that covers these treatments? Do you even have an health insurance plan at all? if no will any health insurance take you on with such issues..i doubt cos they aint no fools and are set up to make money ..to them you re just a bad client that will be avoided cos your future family will viewed as a client with "pre existing condition"
Today you re okay and can afford sampling and IVf...the economy is not risk proof and things can turn in a split second and really go sour especially in Nigeria's case where the economy is highly dependent on oil.
if things go south and your economic condition changes, will you be able to afford these treatments? is it not better to avoid them than set up your life to be dependent on such things?
I keep hearing sampling the Foetus baby and then do an abortion if the result is not favourable.
why in 2018 would any sane person gamble with things they can easily control..The science is there ..preventive medicine is cheaper. why put yourselves through this?
I am liberal as it gets but i dont see why someone will set up his life to regularly sample and do an abortion. Abortion should be done when needed and it is not something you should plan to do regularly. the effect of abortion on your would be wife you still dont know...if you were to be the one (the lady) would you regularly subject yourself to such...if the abortion was to be conducted regularly on you will you still go on with this plan?
are you also aware that before an abortion..you need counselling because of the emotional implications? have you thought about the effect of the emotional implication of the abortions on your relationship?
IVF cost abt 10-15K usd. if you go down this route do you ve the money stashed up already and can you afford this for the number of kids you want.
Unless you re an otedola with the Money..this sounds like a no brainer to me man.
Adopting seems to be an option..can you deal with that?
love is beautiful....dont mess it up..if you really love that girl and you love yourself ..you will take a walk...you dont always get the things you love...sometimes you ve to let go.
In all...I wish you the very best going forward!
I m starting to think that those pushing the IVF and sampling technicques re people who ve made such mistakes but dont wanna own up to it or medical professionals who stand to benefit from it....smh!
@Dopeangel....Talk to your bro once again and if he insists so be it..you cant do much and dont involve outsiders just close friends and immmedialte family.
btw you keep hammering on the effect it will have on your family..if after the warning, your bro decides to continue cos he wants to solve a temporal problem with a permanent one...then it should be his problem and not that of your family..it sounds harsh but yes you ve your own life and the mistakes of others in this case one that can be avoided should not have negative effect on your fams happiness...If he is man enough to neglect the science and pull a movie script on you guys then be man enough to also allow him face the consequences of his actions..you cant eat your cake and have it.
you ve done well as a brother..maybe a bit too pushy cos you want the best for him. Guy, I didn't realise we still have such intelligent people like you on NL. May God increase the wisdom He has deposited in your life. Thank you for educating him, my brother. The cost of adopting technologically advanced techniques in healthcare, keeps rising in Nigeria due to the foreign exchange disparity. All the equipment, reagents and other stuff used to carry out PGD, CVS, IVF etc, keeps rising due to the cost of acquiring the right equipment, to carry out these tests and procedures. Today, IVF is about =N=3 million, tomorrow only God knows how much it would be, especially when we do not manufacture any of the inputs used to carry out the procedure, locally. Electricity in many medical centres is in short supply and for many hospitals, the cost of generating their own energy is on the high side, and keeps increasing. |

I sat down with both families and briefed them, everything boils down to MONEY. I am capable of handling the financial burden of either IVF or PGD and we are willing to take it to the next level as soon as she through with her NYSC. just as AA and AA marriage doesn't in any way equals to HAPPINESS, AS and AS marriage is not equal to DOOM. the key is to be well informed and make a sound decision. I always tell people - if you carry an AS genotype, please be fvcking upfront about it, right from your very first date! Don't even postpone a discussion concerning this very sensitive issue. I mean what were you doing for 3 good years, that you did not discuss your genotype all through that period you were dating? Or didn't both of you know about it? As for AS+AS couples getting married, the only way it would not end in doom, is if the couple has lots of money to take advantage of the medical procedures like PGD, CVS & IVF, if they want to have kids. If they do not have the funds, they shouldn't even dream of getting married, until they do! |

Your brother doesn't need faith, he needs sound, professional, unbiased advice.
They can raise 5M to feed strangers at their weddings but can't raise 1.5M for IVF to ensure their unborn children are safe. Foetus Test at LUTH Sickle Cell Centre is almost 300K, they can't do that but can use the money for iphone instead of detecting the genotype of your unborn kid.
I'm AS, my wife is AS, we used a mix of faith and science. Let your bro try the test at LUTH if he can handle the consequences of an SS foetus. If not, he can try IVF.

Is it everyone that spends 5 million on a wedding? Don't believe all the hype you read in the society pages of several newspapers or online publications. A lot of people are still getting married for far less amounts, in Nigeria. Go to the same LUTH you mentioned earlier, and see how patients die like flies due to lack of adequate financial resources to buy medication, and undergo treatment that is critical to their healthcare. I have seen a widow lose her 3 week old baby before, due to lack of funds to buy drugs, inside that same LUTH ward. Are you the one going to stabilise the OP's brother financially? What if he gets married and they are not financially stable enough to do PGD, CVS and IVF? Even IVF has its own failure rate too, depending on age and other factors! CONFAMA: The probability that they will give birth to a sickler is just 25% which is still low to me although the risks increases if they continue to bear children overtime without limitation.
My advice to the couple is to limit the number of their children to just one or two at most. Sultan5: This is a very tricky and delicate situation. I am a strong believer in preventive medicine but also a strong believer in God. From a medical standpoint this marriage is risky. The financial and emotional drain a child with SS brings is enormous. It will eventually cause a strain between them if they are not strong enough. Not to talk of the effects on the extended family. And that's just one child, what if they end up with multiple children been sicklers. I can't even begin to imagine.
On the other hand nothing is set in stone. With each pregnancy they have 1 in 4 chance of giving birth to a sickler and 3 in 4 chance of giving birth to a healthy child. Those aren't bad odds if you are a gambler. I believe faith is extremely important. I remember a few years ago in Winners Chapel Warri, a married couple who were both AS were testifying with a new born in hand and 2 smaller children close to them. Am sure you can guess their testimony, none of those children were sicklers. Some can say its pure luck others divine intervention. What I will say is Faith is a powerful force don't underestimate it.
Best thing for you to do is ensure again they both understand the risks. If they choose to go with faith let them, it's a powerful force. Don't interfere, your brother is not a child and neither is the girl. They know the risks and have BOTH chosen to go through with it. As long as neither one is mentally unstable or unsound in mind, its their choice and they have made it. You have to accept it, try to put aside your own stance and support them because that's what family do.
Trying to threaten the girl with only make matters worse and strengthen their resolve even more especially since your parents have given their blessings. The only thing you will succeed in doing is alienating yourself and I honestly don't see what good that will do.
Please understand, this wasn't an easy decision for them to make and you adding to that isn't fair to be honest. Yes they have made a decision you clearly don't agree with but in the end he is your family. And she will be your family should this pull through. Family gives support so give it. I will just advice you to place it in God's Hands and let him stir the situation to the permanent site. Oga stop this bad advice, sharp-sharp! Faith is not foolishness. And faith does not give you the license to tempt God. The couple giving testimony at Winners' Chapel, do you know how they met and got married? Was it by clear divine instruction? If they heard clearly from God, that they should go ahead, then God Himself would probably have suspended any of the SS negative traits in their bloodline, and caused the situation to work out in their favour. Anyone who decides to imitate them, without the same clear divine mandate, would only have himself to blame, if he does not escape the SS problem in his coming generation. Do you remember the phrase tossed out to the sons of Sceva, when they tried to imitate Apostle Paul? Imitation can become a costly mistake, if it does not follow the same principles as the archetypal prototype, which was laid on a strong foundation of originality. For AS+AS couples, there is something called the principle of independent assortment. It means that each of the A and S genotypes, can match up with other S genotype, in any random formation. That is why even when people say, that there is a 25% chance of having an SS child, you should know that, this same chance could come into play, every time that the wife conceives. It cannot be predicted with certainty, which of the pregnancies would result in an SS child. It is like rolling a dice. You could be lucky and none of the kids might be SS, or you could be unlucky and ALL the children might be SS - sickle cell sufferers. I have seen AS+AS couples with 4 children, and 3 out of the 4 kids were SS! I have also seen AS+AS couples, with 3 children and only 1 was an SS. A few years ago, I met another AS+AS couple with 2 kids, and both of those children were SS. On my street is an elderly couple with 2 kids as well, but none of those kids are SS. Both children are AS. Now, how does one explain that?! It is a lot like playing russian roulette - highly risky and unpredictable. I always tell couples who share the AS trait, if they are not married: Walk away and DON'T do it! If you ever see a sickler having a crises, you would weep for them. If such AS couples are already married, then they should think of adopting kids, or if they have a lot of money, they could consider Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) alongside in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), in order to minimise the risk of having SS babies. But the entire procedure costs a lot of money! Each time I see unmarried AS+AS couple professing love and embarking on a journey of foolishness into holy matrimony, I sit them down and explain the challenges they would face to them. If they persist in their foolishness, I pray that God opens the eyes of their understanding, so that their village people do not end up playing ludo, scrabble, or lottery, with their destiny! |

plavic: Yes, I investigated the call.. The professor had demanded five rounds of sex from her before passing her.. Initially, she wanted to agree from the onset but on hearing "five", she declined and that was where the gbegbe began.. Both should be suspended. The girl is not clean. She is used to shady ways.. The students in the dept will not have peace until the prof is gone, so... Suspend them both.. The girl should have been more strategic and careful. If she was sure of what she wrote in the exam hall, and positive she had written the right stuff to get good grades, she should have called for an external examiner to remark her papers. After obtaining a pass mark from the external examiner, she could then have released the recording. As a student, once you are a high achiever with adequate mastery of your subjects, then your work should be able to speak for you. Very few lecturers would dare to approach you with this kind of nonsense sex-for-marks talk. And the few who try it, would get the tongue lashing of their lives. Nansense! |

Accolades, my left foot! Let him scrap his extortionist LUC charges first, then we can talk. And then let him sack the clueless Visionscape, that is determined to turn Lagos into a centre of filth and disgusting waste. All this hype will not work. Ambode has lost every form of goodwill, he had left in my book. Oh, how I miss our dear BRF Fashola....! |

rusher14: Can you see the timeline to hint you how serious the investors are ?
Argue with your keyboard. It is one thing to propose a timeline (anybody can do that!), and it is another thing to meet that timeline. Proposing or suggesting a timeline does not translate to ownership of a refinery, please. Kindly educate yourself! Has the refinery been built, and is it operational as at today? So what da heck do you mean by Petrolex owns a refinery? Grow some sense, abeg! |

Dpharisee: The Igbos who own oil bloacks paid for it unlike the TY Danjumas, Alakijas etc who got it as 'free gifts' from their cronies in govt You are too old to be telling such lies, nah! TY Danjuma paid for his own oil block. It is on record that he did so. And Folorunsho Alakija also paid for her own oil block. In fact, federal govt under OBJ tried to take the block back from her, after they discovered how much reserves were in it. The case went to court, (in fact, it got as far as the Supreme court!) and all payments and documents were tendered. Judgement was awarded in her favour 10 years later. It was a long battle. All these facts are in public domain. Google is your friend. Please try to educate yourself. In this era of info, ignorance is a disease.....

thebosstrevor: who is this interviewer or hypeman, you didnt do your research well.
how does this company makes 3 million dollars annually with 65000 users infact the company website is not working
pls before you post nonsense always verify
stop the hype,it is just useless
The myskoolportal doesnt represent a company that is making 3 million dollars revenue per year
pls stop uplifting mediocrity. The website address is http://myskoolportal.com.ng/ It looks very simple. I guess it was deliberately kept that way, to attract those who are not tech-savvy to the site. For some folks, anything complicated, is a turn-off. From what I heard, you contact the company, pay for their services upfront, and then you are given access to the portal. or they can conduct a demo for you on request. Send them an e-mail first. Billion2612: He is my boss. I work in his company and he treat us like a family. Up Krystal Digital. How does your portal work? Kindly explain.... |
