Christianity EtcWho Is The Monotheist?. by lawani(op): 3:42pm On Sep 10, 2024
There is no polytheistic culture that does not have an overall deity that is above all others. They all have names for that entity. We can say it is non Abrahamic spiritualities that recognize one God since they don't fight amongst themselves. If you fight and kill yourselves, you can not be said to be worshipping one God. Shiites, Sunni, Catholics, Protestants, Pentecostal etc all do not see eye to eye.

The gravity of public Islamic prayers.

A government allowing people to gather publicly to face a foreign capital to pray on its land is undermining its own sovereignty gradually. That sort of thing should not be done in public buildings. If it will be done at all, it should be in private homes. Face your own and not a foreign capital to pray.
CultureOrisas And Prophets by lawani(op): 11:59am On Sep 08, 2024
Orisas and Prophets

Orisas are our prominent ancestors that did exploits to advance human civilization. The closest thing to it in religion is prophet but orisas are not prophets. They do not hear voices in their heads, they can teach what they do to others meaning their approach to everything is academic and they are well aware that people can match and surpass them. Therefore there is no last orisa like we have a last prophet in Islam who is the only mouth piece of God that must never be questioned. There is no only son of God that is unique too as in Christianity. All orisas used the academic approach. Academic spirituality is different from religion. Orisas also do not occur in only spirituality as do prophets only in religion. Orisas occur in all fields of human endeavor. If you substantially bring advancement to humanity then you are an orisa and that is how it has always been. If you hear voices in your head and you suffer from a psychiatric condition called delusion of grandeur then you are a prophet.

Since inflation and economy is biting really hard, and food crops is now gold, I'm reconsidering the idea of farming even though I have never farmed before.
Recently after thinking hard on various options and lack of enough funding, i realize I can start my plans for farming using a 3 plots of land lying fallow and close to the town, belongin to a close relative of mine.
.
So the next question is what's the best crop to farm between now and November on a 3 plots in Southwest, considering the season, yield and one year maximum harvest time.
.
I will appreciate answer.
The most popular are cassava and maize.
CultureWho Is Ogun?. by lawani(op): 3:50pm On Sep 07, 2024
Who is Ogun?.

Ogun is often misconstrued as the orisa of iron but the actual designation of Ogun is as the orisa of initiative and action and iron is just one of the many initiatives brought by the many Oguns that have been incarnated on Earth. Action can mean war is why Ogun is a war leader.
Initiatives lead to a better society is why Ogun is a political leader or King.

It was Ogun that brought markets for the exchange of products. It was Ogun that introduced money. It was Ogun that brought iron smelting. It was Ogun that brought binary computing. Every civilization advancing innovation is channeled via the energy of Ogun which is a male energy. The female equivalent is Oya which is why Oya is called Obirin Ogun ie the female version of Ogun. Oya is noted for swift change while Ogun is noted for initiative and action.

The ekitiparapo revolt was due to the heavy hand of the ajeles on the ekiti and ijesha, they were fed up with the oppression, the ajeles were raping their wives, imposing heavy taxes, taking goods forcefully in markets etc,the Eastern Yoruba could not bare it anymore they had to revolt
I am not an authority on that history but the Ibadan were not harsh. They were actually begging and forcing people. It was a mixture of diplomacy and force but the forest Yoruba's were used to their independence and that was the problem

When we asked for a break-up so that everybody could live their life accordingly, you people said no. After using our cotton and groundnut money to discover oil, you think we should foolishly accept your agitation that everybody should go their separate ways? Just as our resources were used as a national cake, the oil we now rely on must continue to be used as a national cake too.
And for candid advice, no part of Nigeria will be allowed to leave; we are together till the kingdom comes. Not now that we have managed and perfected our hegemony over you. We will consider the Yoruba with power at least, but for the Igbo, they have to pay for the atrocities committed when they took arms against the establishment, of Nigeria in 1966.
If you say national money was used to discover oil which is debateable becaise oil companies are the discoverers, what about southern money that was used regularly for the North before independence when tax collection in the North was nothing to write home about?. Then if Nigeria remains one, nobody can prevent an Igbo presidency. Remember Peter Obi won in Lagos. It can not be prevented in a democratic setting. The hegemony you talked about can only work in a non democratic setting not in a democracy. If you thinl there is any hegemony now, you deceive yourself. The three biggest nations in Nigeria should be managing their own affairs. They are too big to be together. They should have their own country with own official languages

Ibadan only stooped to conquer.

According to.the Odu Ose meji that birthed Ibadan, Ibadan has always had its way. Ibadan has never been defeated in any battle since inauguration though it is a new city. Ibadan contributed over fifty thousand troops to the British to force open Ijebu. Ibadan is always on the right side of any war. Ibadan preached to the rest of the Yoruba to embrace unity and peace but none of Ilorin, IJESA, Ijebu and etc agreed. All were forced under Ibadan eventually. Balogun Ogedengbe of IJESA agreed for a while and went on expedition to Benin on behalf of Ibadan and he was successful but when Fabunmi Okemesi started the rebellion that led to the Kiriji civil war, Ogedengbe broke his agreement with Ibadan and took over the leadership of the rebellion from Fabunmi Okemesi. Some Ekitis decided not to join the rebellion, seeing wisdom in choosing peace. The war started in 1877 and it led to the colonization of Nigeria. What Ogedengbe, Fabunmi and their men fought against was what eventually happened in 1957 according to Ose meji that birthed Ibadan. Ibadan eventually became the headquarters of the western region losing only Ilorin and territories that were hitherto under her to the North. Ilorin and Jebba were Ibadan provinces while Borgu was an ally. In many ways, Ibadan was a very successful capital according again to the Odu Ose meji, rolling out policies that were outstanding like free and compulsory education, a national investment company which till today is the largest conglomerate in Africa.
Ibadan having to defer to Britain before uniting the bulk of the Yoruba under her in the western region of Nigeria that became independent in 1957 according to the dream of Aare Ona Kakanfo Obadoke Latosisa was a case of stooping to conquer.

PoliticsA Chronicle Of Attempts To Break Up Nigeria by lawani(op): 4:42pm On Sep 05, 2024
The Northerners i e Hausa-Fulanis were the first to attempt to divide Nigeria before independence but they were pacified with the Prime Minister position by the Dr Azikiwe led NCNC. They again wanted to divide Nigeria after the General Gowon led counter coup in 1966 but they were advised by the British to.keep it together. The initial war cry was Araba meaning breakup but Major General Ogundipe the most senior military man still alive left the country to.the UK to become the High commissioner and General Gowon a leader among the coupists became the head of state and convinced Chief Awolowo of the west to support him.
The next attempt to break up the country was when General Gowon broke up the Eastern region with the creation of more states in Nigeria. Colonel Ojukwu the head of the Eastern region did not agree and war broke out. Another attempt was the Gideon Orkar led coup d'etat against General Babangida's government.
The Boko Haram too are spiritedly trying to break up the country but the oil money holding the country together has not allowed them to succeed. Their complain is that western civilization is our undoing and they want to return to the glorious era of the Kanem Borno.
The only major group yet to champion the breakup of Nigeria are the Yoruba but they came close to doing so after the state murder of Bashorun Abiola who won the Presidency and was in detention. It is needless to restate that if the floor was not left to the Yoruba alone in 1999 for the Presidency, there would at least have been a civil war in Nigeria and the powers that be will know the right people to support.

Lagos economy.

Lagos has twenty one million people out of which at least five million adults should be working.
Lagos is the only unit in Nigeria that is being optimally managed, so all eyes should be on Lagos.
I want to do an estimate of how the workforce in Lagos is distributed into sectors. The only figure that is verifiable is the number of workers in the Lagos state government which is around five hundred thousand workers. Tax from the remaining 4.5 million is supporting the 500 thousand strong civil service and that is how it is in the organized world.

LASG- 500,000
FG - 100,000
Transport (NURTW and share rides)-100,000
High end Organized private sector. OPS (Banks, oil companies etc)- 100,000
Low end OPS (Filling stations, hotels, bakeries, pure water factories etc)- 1,000,000

Specialized trading- 500,000

Do you have any objections to my estimates?.

PoliticsEconomic Development, Economy Size And Per Capita Income. by lawani(op): 10:41am On Sep 05, 2024
Economic development, economy size and per capita income.

Economic development is about the sheer number of industries present in an economy. In this wise, it is somehow clear that all economies are almost evenly developed since most sectors occurs in all economies. Presently there is the classification of high income countries as industrialized and developed while low income countries are classified as developing. This should not be so.
The disparity between nations is in organization and organization is to do with the efficiency of personal income tax collection within a country. It is not to do with development, the production of high tech goods or the number of industries in the economy.
Most nations described as developed do not necessarily have more industries or sectors in their economy than others but they are all high income.
By sheer volume of consumption of goods and services India is definitely the richest country or largest economy on Earth today because it now has the highest population since June 2023.
High income countries can only consume more than India in the department of luxury goods like private jets and yachts consumed by a handful of high net worth individuals.
There is absolutely no reason to consider western Europe or North America as more developed economically than India, China and etc. They do not have more sectors in their economies. In fact, many of them actually have less sectors or industries than India, China and etc. How then are they more developed economically?.
Then a very low per capita income is actually a super power if the average person in the country in question can afford all the necessities of life like food, shelter, clothes, internet access and etc. If you can do it with one thousand dollars, why spend one hundred thousand?. Having to spend one hundred thousand dollars per annum for the upkeep of one person is the cause of homelessness in high income countries. The people at the bottom of wages are bearing the brunt.
When cost of living is eventually evened out across the world, the average per capita income of nations will be much less than five thousand dollars per annum.
BusinessNo Single Person Is Richer Than A Country. by lawani(op): 6:21am On Sep 05, 2024
No single person is richer than a country.
There is this very common misinterpretation of data where some very high net worth individuals are described as richer than some nations.
No individual is richer than any nation because net worth is not the same as GDP. What is similar to the GDP for one human being is returns on investment.
Most high net worth individuals do not get a high returns on their investment. Some make as low as one percent per annum and that is what you can compare to a nation’s GDP not their actual worth on paper.
Somebody worth 200 billion dollars is not totally guaranteed 2 billion dollars returns per annum in a place like the USA. Actual shared dividends should be used and not stock appreciation.

A country can not really be valued but if it is to be valued, you should treat it like real estate. My formula is thirty times what the annual rental is. For a country, it should be thirty times the GDP while it is noted that the value will double when the population doubles, therefore a country can not really be valued.
CultureDo Awos Of Orunmila Do Human Rituals?. by lawani(op): 9:00am On Sep 04, 2024
Do Awos of Orunmila do human rituals?.

There are many priesthoods of different orisa and anybody can use the Osanyin method to establish a charm or juju and it is what you establish that will work for you. You are free to choose any eleven or twenty two ingredients and if you choose a human being you can not blame an Awo Orunmila for that as it is your own failing. You can not blame Orunmila or any Awo Orunmila for that.
Osanyin is another department of spirituality entirely and it is not the same as Awo Orunmila.
The 256 signs of Orunmila are used to mine information from the spirit realm. It is a spirit language with many others like it and it is not more than that. Through IFA, your spirit can teach you limitless things. Your spirit has access to limitless information from other spirits and from the data bank of God. IFA in itself is not juju or magic. It is just a language that an Awo Orunmila understands.
A body of Awo Orunmila in any Yoruba city used to be a chartered body in the past and it is unheard of that a member will be listing a human being as an ingredient for any ebo. How can that sail in a properly constituted chartered body?.
Ebo is not the same as Oogun or charm. Ebo is what concerns the Awo Orunmila while Oogun is for the Osanyin priesthood.
The knowledge of Osanyin is neutral just like say the knowledge of nuclear energy. How you use it depends on your need, your mindset, your challenges and who you are as a person.
However it is worth noting that there is nothing wrong in using someone condemned to death by a competent jury for rituals because wild or tame animals are better than some people.

True.

And that's precisely my point.

Norway is punching way, way above its weight on a per capita basis. It produces more than it consumes - and it sells the surplus to the rest of the world. Wetin remain to do again?

Its public finances are strong.
Its life expectancy rates are high.
Its growth is export driven.
It has consistently recorded trade surpluses.
Its institutions are strong.

And so on...

Norway isn't perfect. It is a high cost country and of late, its productivity growth has been declining. Its export growth is also powered in part by oil - a finite, non-renewable resource. But it has managed its oil wealth in a way that puts profligate countries (we won't mention any names) to deep, everlasting shame. Norway's sovereign funds (from its oil and gas revenues) have become something like a long term financial force of nature...while one over populated West African country like that...is broke (completely broke) and heavily in debt. undecided

That West African country had it all. It had it all and pissed it all away. There's no coming back from that.
Norway does not need her oil to be a big exporter. Its fish is enough. I think Norway is second only to China in fishing. Norway is really a great country. It is not right to say she is depending on oil. Norway however is earning forex not very much above its weight because all countries earn forex. It is the quality of management that differs.

Ok.

But they have managed their affairs in such a way that the grandchildren of Norwegians who have not yet been born - already have quite high chances of success in this game called life.

Meanwhile...one West African country like that has hundreds of millions of people. That country has people who regularly boast about how many they are...as if uncontrolled procreation is a world sport worthy of praise. undecided The people in that country are largely poor, barely literate, poorly educated, poorly skilled and quite hungry. Many of them are in poor mental and physical health...and they don't even know it. They are very, very angry people and this anger routinely spills out in terrible bloodletting that would leave the average Norwegian speechless if he ever came across it.

Quality, not quantity. wink
I am not saying Norway has done badly. I in fact commended them but Norway's actual consumption and hence economy can not be all that larger than Osun state but that is a discussion for another thread. Norway is a good example of how an oil rich country can be run well
