I agree that Churches are taking advantage of their tax exempt status but the thing is we need tax exempt charitable organisations because of how society is set up. Tampering with that might have unforeseen repercussions. IMO though I think Churches should be taxed for any income that is not used for charitable works or the running of their organisation.

Churches are NGOs where monies are collected to spread the gospel. Spread the gospel means telling people their past and future sins are paid for by Jesus Christ, a Jew who was executed for blasphemy two thousand years ago. Any other thing they use money for is by the way. Any charity is by the way. The Muslims and Christians use the public space to threaten law abiding people with hell fire and that ought to stop. It will be stopped at one point. Churches are NGOs and they don't make profit. All the government can get from them in an organized settings is personal income tax from their workers.

Mega churches and the economy

Mosques don't generate automatic revenue. An Alfa will work for you and charge you like a lawyer does and that will be the end of the transaction. Any serious government will not allow any extra government institution to be laying claim either covertly or overtly to a portion of people's income in the nation and that is what tithe collection is which puts churches in direct competition with the state.

The Bible is not the word of God.


The Bible is worse than the Quran because we at least know who wrote the Quran while the Bible is a compilation of books written over thousands of years with many of the authors unknown. The books purportedly written by Moses were written originally in languages which Moses could not have understood given that he was an Egyptian that spoke Kemitic Egyptian and none of the Bible languages that did not exist during his life time.
Early Christians had no Bible as it is today as they were Jews that used Jewish books.
Early Christians only continued the tradition of Jews of designating the written works of their founders as holy books.
The Bible books in the new testament that were canonized were decided upon long after the demise of their writers and the ones chosen were the ones that suited the purpose of the founders of religion. Many others were disqualified.
Before a book can be admitted in the academia, it should have a known author at least and it must be articulate. The Bible lacks these two qualities.
There is nothing wrong in admitting the Bible as just literature, the likes of which are many but designating the compilation of books as the word of God is taking it too far. No book at all should be placed above peer review. More so the Christian Bible.

Atheism was unknown in most human cultures. There is no word for it in Yoruba. If atheism is prevalent in your culture, then there is something wrong with your spirituality.
It is normal or intelligent to doubt the existence of God if he is as described in the Quran, Bible or the Torah

Most children in the south west go to private schools. I guess this shows that teachers in private schools are largely unqualified
