China 7.0 is not developed?
The United States 11.0 is not developed?

Namibia 33.0 (Third highest)
Denmark 33.4 (Second highest
Lesotho 37.3 (Highest in world)
This means there is no correlation with development and tax rate.

When a person presents data so show that you're wrong, you can present counter data or you can just learn and move on.
Western European countries are largely socialist. They have expensive health care systems and low to no rate for citizens.
All those countries in Africa with high tax to GDP ratio definitely have a higher HDI than any west African country and I don't need to check. It is somehow pedestrian to think a nation spending half it's GDP on its infrastructure, economy and human capital will not be better off than another spending ten percent or less. No free lunch in Free town!

There is no developed country where tax to GDP is less than thirty percent. Don't calculate only federal revenue. The only developed country like that is the USA that has no universal healthcare.

And this is China for 2024 and China isn't really considered as developed

PoliticsRe: Igbo Is Ranked 4th Among African Ethnicities According To HDI & MPI by lawani(m):

Top 5 biggest economies in world GDP percentage gov revenue (IGR)

United States - 11.0
China - 7.0
Germany - 10.9 (Largest, most productive, and best economy in western europe)
India - 6.7
Japan - 11.4
Tax to GDP in the US is 25 percent and they still force you to buy health insurance. Don't use federal revenue alone. That is not how it is calculated. China is 20 or 25 percent without considering the non oil revenue from government companies. None is less than 30 to 35 percent in reality if you add everything.

US GDP is like 30 trillion dollars and total government revenue is like 8 trillion dollars. Do the maths

These are the highest in the world shown in the screen shot.

Ofodirinwa:
Staying on topic, I showed you how government revenue size (IGR) does not correlate with level of development. I compared Australia, Mozambique and China. Any three nations can be produced and you will see no connection between the two. There is no correlation. My source is the World Bank: https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/GC.TAX.TOTL.GD.ZS?locations=QA&most_recent_value_desc=false

If China decided to cut taxes by 50% to allow those businesses to grow, the businesses revenue and the country's GDP will increase. Government revenue from tax (IGR) will drop 50% to 150 billion. Does that mean China's economy has shrunken? Does it mean China is less developed after the decision? Does it mean the economy has slowed down? In this scenario, IGR has dropped 50%, but based on all known economic models, less tax usually leads to more spending and faster business growth.

In 15 years the states who want to introduce this IGR is a replacement for development idea will see the results of their endevours (slow to no growth due to over and double taxation and government dependence).
Government revenue size in comparison with GDP correlates with HDI. High tax to GDP correlates with high HDI. The highest tax to GDP are in western Europe like Sweden and etc and they have high HDI. No country where government revenue is less than ten percent of GDP can have high HDI. Give example of such a country and let's check. If tax to GDP is very low then HDI will be very low unless the government has a very large non tax revenue. Just show one country, mention the country with low tax to GDP say even ten percent that has a high HDI without having a high non tax revenue.

In short there is no developed country where the government does not have a large revenue relative to the GDP. Some are 45 percent of GDP. If there is any mention one
CultureThe Difference Between Awo Ogboni And Awo Orunmila by lawani(op): 12:01am On Apr 13
The difference between Awo Ogboni and Awo Orunmila

What to realize is that Awo is just a group of people who share secrets, work together and see themselves as one. They have hierarchy and they have leadership. In that sense I am an Awo of Chemical engineering since I have a BSc in that field and even a published work.

The Awo Orunmila is an Awo of diviners that use the system of divination introduced by Orunmila over five thousand years ago. They have leadership and they have hierarchy.

The Awo Ogboni Obatala is a brotherhood of people in a typical Yoruba nation on which the prosperity and advancement of the community rests. They also have leadership and they have hierarchy.

Love of community, humanity and good character is needed to thrive as an Ogboni and this is true for any brotherhood or Awo but more important for the Ogboni.

The Awo Orunmila must master the Orunmila signs and know how to use them and also satisfy any other conditions required by the leadership of the body just like you have to pass over two hundred units of courses to be awarded a Bachelor of science in Chemical engineering to become an "Awo" of chemical engineering.

you're shifting the goal post. Nigerian states also produce oil so what makes that a disqualifier?

China is 7.0, Mozambique is 21.9, Australia is 23.6, This shows no correlation between IGR with development, economic growth, economic health etc. It just shows how much money the government charges for it's services (assuming services are even delivered after expenses are paid).
Nigeria produces oil but the huge population offsets it. If we were just ten million then the HDI will be higher even if there is corruption. That is why Libyan HDI must be higher than Nigeria's

What does your figures represent? If tax to GDP then you are wrong for China which I know is around 25 percent and China still makes huge money from state owned companies. They make over 300 billion dollars per annum from state owned companies and that's more than ten times the budget of Nigeria. Their population is not up to ten times of Nigeria. They spend all that money on their people

Obi supporters are mobsters you say? Tinubu supporters who were mainly Buhari supporters. The same Buhari who's supporters killed 800 people in the 2011 election when he lost including serving youth members from the South ..

Adewumi Seun (Ekiti State)
Teidi Tosin (Kogi State)
Adowei Elliot (Bayelsa State)
Okpokiri Obinna (Abia State)
Gbenjo Ayotunde (Osun State)
Ukeoma Chibuzor (Imo State)
Nwazema Chukwuonyerem (Imo State)
Adeniji Jehleel (Osun State)
Akonyi Sule (Kogi State). Those were the names of corp members killed by Buhari supporters.

What gets me angry with them is this, all they say is 'See those Obidents see how they abuse online yadayada " shebi if anybody abuses you,you too.abuse him back naa,abi o shey wa le to ba yen?

Did they beat anyone from voting? No

Did they threaten anyone and tell him not to come out and vote like MC oluomo threatened igbo people? No.

Did they invade yoruba areas in the East and beat them up and tell them not to come out and vote like thugs did in Lagos? No

So tell me exactly what they did. They cant say except to dey cry all about

This woman like her fellow Buhari Tinubu supporters are the most delusional set of people I have ever seen but they should keep on with their grand delusion.
Hopefully 2027 elections will not hold. Thank God there is now more non oil than oil revenue.

Nonsense gibberish, what you wrote there is not reason, just nonsense. Christians don't see religion as a competition but muslims do, Christianity preaches forgiveness and mercy. Not jihad, nobody is called infidel in the Bible, no demeaning words, or words that builds resentment and animosity in the Bible.
If you have one million tithe payers, will you want the number to drop given that you have expenses? You are wrong that they are not competing for members.

In the Bible people are warned against being unequally yoked with unbelievers. Yes good morally upright people are dismissed as unbelievers in the Bible.

We are talking of now, these modern times... besides knight Templars were protecting merchant and the free world from rampaging ottoman empire, it was a response to the barbarity of the Ottomans... besides that was in barbaric times, since the 19th century no record of killings under Christianity. Stop supporting barbarity with useless argument.
If Muslims were ruling Christians would fight them. They are all the same. If protestants are ruling Catholics will fight them. The Shia Muslims will fight the Sunni. The Lord"s Resistance army or so is a Christian terrorist group and so was the IRA. Christian nations nowadays are more prosperous is the only difference and Muslim nations were like that during the dark ages. They were more civilized. You can't just rewrite history to say Christians are peaceful when they were absolutely not. Christian saints burnt over 100k people on the stakes in Europe during the inquisition for being witches. No Muslim atrocity can match that

That screenshot is talking about Spanish word for Christianity, cristianamos, different from what am saying.

My point is, this organised Christian religion as practiced today, with it's Christmas and Easter holidays etc, was sanctioned by Constantinople, and Roman Catholic church was the first church under the organised Christian religion...you are talking about syntax and word translation... before the creation by Constantinople the word Christianity was never been used.

I have nothing against Christian religion, this whole discussion started because of the bashing of traditional culture. I respect Christians because they are peaceful and they are no Christian terrorists etc. I have lots of Christian friends.
Killing people for God started with Christianity. Forceful conversion started with Christianity. Mohammed was obviously converted by non trinitarian Christians is why he believed in Jesus prophethood and virgin birth. Islam is a sect of Christianity merged with Meccan culture. If no Christianity there would have been no Islam

yes they are different. The Religion has not completed then. and there has been killings everywhere before the birth of Muhammad. no Salat no hajj no Ramadan. that is the reason why Allah sent the seal of all prophet to finalise the religion. as I said Religion is perfect but it's the human that aren't
The uncompleted one is better than the completed one of Jihad, jizyah, rape, arson and etc. If you want to be Muslim go back to the uncompleted one that respects other human cultures.

No killing over beliefs or God on Earth before Islam and Christianity. If there were give an example

Adam believe in first pillar of islam. what is islam? Submission (surrender) to the will of God (Allah).
who is a Muslim? One who submits to the will of Allah.
Adam was the first human and first prophet
He believed in one God (Allah) Nd Obeyed Allah’s commands then Repented when he made a mistake. that makes him a Muslim.
Muhammad is the final prophet (Seal of the Prophets) the one who brought the final and complete message (the Qur'an)
Ok if you believe some people were Muslims before Mohammed would you agree that they were a different kind of Muslim? There is no record of them preaching to anyone to abandon their culture, they fought no one, collected jizyah from no one, did not have a last prophet and they had no holy book. They are therefore different from the breed we have today

I disagree with the highlighted because Ògbóni is political they are in charge of whatever goes on in the community while ifá priests are only consulted when there is need for their services.

That is why a slave can't become Olúáwo in Ògbóni.
The Awo Orunmila have their own community and they choose their leaders by themselves. They can bypass elderly people to appoint a younger person as Oluwo. I know of examples even in the modern day and it is to do with your expertise. They will not choose an incompetent person over a slave that is competent
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity The True Religion? Debate by lawani(m): 6:27pm On Apr 12

So originally all Oluwos are Ògbónis.
Right?🙂
In the past, all free elderly men in a Yoruba city were Ogboni but it can be possible for a slave to become an Oluwo of the Awo Orunmila since it is by knowhow and expertise. Such a slave will not be a member of the Ogboni. A young man can also become Oluwo in ifa but a young man can not be Ogboni.

In today's world a practicing Babalawo will most likely belong to the Ogboni council in his city apart from being a member of the iledi of Awo Orunmila

Can you really call someone like the so called Adam a Muslim given that he never tried to convert anybody, never fought jihad and never collected jizyah from anybody? How can a peaceful person under God be called a Muslim? A man who respected other humans regardless of their spiritual beliefs? That is not a Muslim

I wish we could have this civil discussion in a roundtable and everyone present their facts for scrutiny

One thing I agree with you is that we are not ready for state creation due to the greed from the political class. In My opinion, until we make politics less attractive and just a vocation were parliamentarians are paid just sitting allowances and the executive placed on a minimum wage... only then will the interest in state creation be about developmental purposes and cultural identity
I am not talking of the present Benin kingdom but the capital of the empire which existed on the same site. What exactly do you disagree with?

I think the right form of government is the party to be paying the law makers from dues collected from members and the lawmakers should be older people over 50 and any professional body, trade union and etc with due paying members should be able to field candidates that they will pay by themselves if those people need to be paid. Only the executive should be paid salaries. Other people should have their source of income and any sitting allowance should be paid by their parties for those who need it

So from our discussion so far ifá has a lineage of worshipers, it's not all worshipers that go into consultancy, and professionals from other fields can also seek protection from ifá, the ranks in ifá doesn't necessarily means a person must be a consultant before attaining higher level in ifá and finally oluwos only act as medium for members of their group not for commercial purposes!

Thanks for your time!🙂
You are just going back and forth. You can't become an Oluwo without having students. How is that hard to understand? You have to teach people to become an Oluwo. So how can you possibly find an Oluwo who does not consult for people? Even his students? It may not be full time. Yes but you must be consulting for people.

You are just mentioning worshipper as a religionist but they are actually clients. A client does not even need to know how to read ifa signs. Just follow the directive your Awo gave you

You don't know many Awos. It is like saying someone became a medical consultant without seeing fifty patients in total. Nobody can become Oluwo without consulting for others and having students.

Awo Orunmila is a handwork and if you are really good then you will have no time for any other handwork. You will only be investing your earnings into other things. Can somebody seeing thirty people a day have time for any other thing?

Yes primarily patrilineal but you can claim any of your father's or mother's compound. If your mother is a princess Ifa can choose you if you are a responsible person. Your mother's family is your family too. Only that the bond is weaker. The last Ataoja of Osogbo was son of a princess. My problem with you is even a well brought up ten year old knows broke shaming people is immoral but you are not different from the religionists that lynched Deborah in Sokoto. Then how did you know I am poor?

You are also wrong to advise me not to base on IFA to earn a living as it is a honest livelihood source for many Awo. Advise people not to steal. You can not spend ten years to learn something and then be told not to be rich from it. You can't however become a billionaire as a fellow Awo can only be a partner and not a servant of another Awo. A Babalawo work only under God after qualifying as explained in Otura Osa.

Then nobody is an Oluwo or Araba that does not consult for people. You are fond of making baseless claims on this forum

Then take me up maturedly and without insults on anything I say about your God Jesus

The above submissions are brilliantly stated!

The Chinese have ALSO invested heavily in electric vehicles and BYD from China sold a record number of electric cars in 2025 alone around the world.

There's also mini-hydro turbines and micro-hydro turbines which other countries use to get power from small streams and rivers or the use of hybrid solar/wind power systems for a seamless day and night renewable energy. The people complaining daily online and offline have for years been too mentally paralyzed and lazy to take the initiatives to cut themselves off from the national grid and go off-grid.

There's biogas from animal and human waste including rural and urban wastes that can generate electricity in urban and rural areas.

A mix of renewable energy is the way to go.

Malaysia doesn't go through the stress other OPEC countries such as Nigeria go through whenever there's a spike in international crude oil prices due to global geopolitical tensions for several decades now because they invested heavily in gas infrastructure by exporting their huge natural gas for FX returns.

Nigeria is largely a gas-rich country. The natural gas reserves and even the bitumen reserves in the bitumen belt stretching from the 4 States of Lagos to Ogun to Ondo to Edo States are far more than Nigeria's entire crude oil reserves or deposits.
Instead of individuals going off grid why not all generated electricity be fed into the grid and everybody metered? Solar, wind, gas and etc and within one year there will be electricity at least twelve hours a day for those whose main supply is solar and don't have batteries
