Ofodirinwa:There is no city in Nigeria that is up to Abidjan in development. What Lagos has is population. I don't think any is up to Accra or even Dakar and it was not like that in the past. Those cities have amenities like constant power, condos, good roads, and etc. Their skyline is even more appealing. Lagos is trying though. They have a metroline but no constant power yet and no substantial investment by government in housing. What is special about Ohafia? Big cities have advantage because they draw in many things because of the sheer size or population. Five million will be something in today's world. Then Lagos and Ogun actually have the highest HDI. It is easy to predict Enugu will join them soon because of the IGR. The reports I have seen with good reference say that. Not random AI or wikipedia articles https://globaldatalab.org/shdi/shdi/NGA/ |
esnbrutality:I don't understand your argument. Independence was 1960 and those appointments were made after that. I think 1962. According to you only Igbos merited to be the VCs of UI and Unilag and the rector of Yabatech at the same time despite that the Yoruba had more scholars and more senior people and Zik as President had no input in how those Igbos got there. It is clear Zik did the same thing you are accusing Tinubu of today and he was able to do it because he was President. Yet to you he held no powers. I don't know if Awo was jealous of Zik but who wouldn't be? Zik was big back then. He was President |
esnbrutality:Zik was more or less a King. He was held in high esteem and his name was written in the independence constitution. If he were PM what do you think he would have done that he didn't make the NCNC/NPC coalition do? Everyone called him sir and deferred to him. Compared to him the PM was an errand boy in many respects after all nothing can be done in the parliament without a simple majority. You can't remove Zik's name from those who ruled Nigeria. Yes the colonialists favored the Igbos and preferred Igbos to control Nigeria. Check their census figures but the VCs and rector were appointed by the FGN and not the British. To you it was competence that made Igbos to be the VCs of UI and Unilag at the same time and also the rector of Yabatech? It is not competence but the same thing you are accusing the current President of doing now though by population and revenue Yoruba deserve more than 35 percent of all appointments It might surprise you as an IPOB/ESN sympathizer to hear the claim that the British that you love to hate worked for the Igbo but that is what all the evidence point to |
Happy birthday to the boldest Nigerian entrepreneur. Many more years in excellent health and prosperity |
esnbrutality:Dull? So Queen Elizabeth who was ceremonial in Britain did not have any say in the government? The PM deferred to the President and there was nothing substantial being done without his input. How do you think it was possible for Igbos to become the VC of UI and rector of Yabatech? Over many Yorubas that were their seniors? The Igbos took majority of federal positions under Zik and etc. They were in charge of almost everything despite that the Yoruba that were qualified doubled their number and you say Zik was just ceremonial? Stop that |
esnbrutality:Zik ruled Nigeria or you think it was a small thing to be President? The whole place was saturated by people loyal to him. Ironsi also ruled Nigeria and he got us to where we are today. He shouldn't have taken over the government because the structure was still intact. Stop saying Igbos never ruled Nigeria |
Morizo:People living on Yoruba land 70 million plus Igbo land 25 million plus. Hausa land 60 million plus Total over 155 million. Explain how they are not up to forty percent of 220 million. Don't tell me other people live on those lands because other people live on every land |
callmetade:I know. Are even Egyptians Arab? They really are not. What I am addressing is how people try to portray the Arabs as weaklings when that is not true. Israel back then had powerful allies and that was the deciding factor. |
If UN recognizes Israel then they must guarantee security in the region since they are not in support of a genocide against the original landowners |
SmartPolician:Forget census. Have you calculated the registered voters under the control of each group? It is only the combination of Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba that constitutes a majority. A combination of Igbo and Yoruba don't and Igbo and Hausa don't and that is the reality. |
Predictor3:I don't understand the difference. If you use the weakened form of a pathogen to build immunity that is vaccination. |
Christistruth00:It is possible for one thing to be invented twice. A British scientist is credited for inventing vaccination. He was said to have noticed that girls that milk cows don't get infected of small pox and it was because they were exposed to cowpox. Sanponna priests used to take pus from small pox victims perform operations on it and inject children with it and any child that survives will be deemed to be above small pox. They know that the vast majority survives while a small minority don't. It was better than small pox wiping out the whole community |
Why do people always say Iranians are not Arabs when talking about the war? Arabs are not sissies but they had no resources to fight an Israel recognized by the UN and backed by the west and even Russia. That was the situation in 1948 and in the sixties. It is not the same situation of Iran in 2026. Iran had decades to prepare for the war and if there were a war between Israel and Iran with Israel backed by the west and Russia in 1948 or in the 1960s then Iran would have suffered the same fate as the Arab countries. That much should be understood. According to the proverb 'A wise cripple can never be the victim of a war that was foretold'. This is because the cripple would have moved out of the potential conflict area before the commencement of hostilities. Iran had decades to prepare for the showdown and they also have Russia and China on their side unlike what happened when the Arab nations fought Israel. Back then Russia and the western powers were in support of Israel. Presently if any big Arab country is attacked by Israel, they have the armaments to return fire just like Iran is doing today but Egypt which is the biggest one of them is a close ally of the USA and they have agreement with Israel as well. The USA ensures that radicals don't take over in Egypt. Turkey that was the biggest power in the region in the nineteenth century though not an Arab country also have the ammunition to return fire if attacked but Turkey is a NATO member. Nobody will sit on their arse and not improve their situation for decades when they know a war can break out anytime and that their potential adversary is arming themselves. They are all spending on their military and that is what even Israel is worried about. Ten billion dollars spent by Turkey, Iran or Egypt is the equivalent of over one hundred billion dollars spent in Israel or the USA. So time, allies and etc is why Iran is different from the Arabs of 1948 and the 1960s not much else. |
Topman7:Skin pigmentation is an adaptation to the climate. That is basic science. The latitude of your habitat as a people determines your average phenotype overtime. I have neanderthal DNA in me as a Yoruba. The DNA is from over twenty thousand years ago and Neanderthals were natives of Europe and white. I have white ancestors and I am black now. Anybody with neanderthal DNA had some white ancestors It can be possible that the foundational Yorubas were white since they have Neanderthal DNA. Some Europeans have ten times more Neanderthal content than the Yoruba if I remember right while some have just like three times and Europeans too were dark as at a few thousand years back but both west Africans and Europeans got Neanderthal DNA from ancient white ancestors. There are ruins in Europe that were built before the last ice age. They were not built by the ancestors of the current Europeans and those ruins were obviously built by ancient white people unless you think people can live in Europe for 100k years without becoming white. Nobody can live in west Africa for five thousand years without becoming black |
Topman7:You don't need anything but common sense to know that white people lived in Europe before the last ice age. Just common sense is enough |
GboyegaD:Top managers are generally paid ten to fifteen times the rent they pay. What is their worth? Your salary is determined by the cost of living of your city |
LegendHero:Yes the Yoruba are made up different nations that have the same origin, world view, culture, language, spirituality and etc and the most powerful among them in recent history is the Oyo and they also have the highest population. Most existing Yoruba nations have paid tribute to the Oyo at one point or the other in their history though Oyo rose to prominence not quite long ago. Ife is regarded as the spiritual capital and representation of the first human civilization or city. No Yoruba nation that I know of ever paid tribute to the current Ife but they all felt duty bound in the past to protect the city as their origin. Obviously in the ancient past, extinct Yoruba states would have been tributary to some Ife that existed back then |
LegendHero:They are not subjects but where else would you meet a King if not in his palace in his capital? It is not like today that kings travel abroad on holidays or for medicals. It will still be expected for you to greet a King in the normal way even if you are not one of the subjects though even among the subjects some people don't publicly pay obeisance to the king traditionally. |
If you light fire to money instead of spending it, what will happen is inflation will reduce. It will profit those printing money and if those printing money are complaining then they are hypocrites |
Let all security personnel be reposted to their states of origin There is nothing wrong in liberalizing the possession of weapons ie fire arms in any country. Security is very important. In the olden days, every city was militarized at least among the Yoruba and if there is a need to defend the country it will be the duty of every citizen. Even women in some constituencies used to participate. Among the Yoruba, the Military was in the main not a full time occupation except maybe among the Oyo. In today's world and especially in today's Nigeria, any responsible person should be able to bear arms after a thorough background check and private security firms established for profit should certainly be able to bear arms in order to compliment the government. In Nigeria today, the whole space is defiled by having security people who are not native to the station where they work and this was the main reason the coup d'etat of 1966 was successful. Non native soldiers assassinated the Northern premier once and the leaders of the government of the west on two different occasions. This obviously was why when Chief Awolowo was released from prison by the General Gowon administration he insisted that all non native soldiers must leave the western region and they left. The whole world was watching too especially Britain and they may have played a part in ensuring the government agreed. No group in Nigeria signed up for Nigeria so that their land will be militarily occupied by non native security some of who work hand in hand with armed bandits in today's Nigeria. The NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is sending unknown gunmen as vigilantes to communities under the heavy attack of unknown gunmen. Let all security personnel be posted to their states of origin. It will certainly lead to enhanced security. Let Nigeria break up if it will break up. The Hausa should not because of the around 6 billion dollars per annum or less that they collect from the FG refuse the change. What after all is five or six billion dollars a year to over 50 million people? The Hausa can raise five hundred dollars per head per annum on average by themselves even in the first year after breakup and that is over twenty billion dollars per annum. The revenue per head can be up to that if not more since any society is a mix of struggling and well off people. It can also be possible to reach an understanding with the oil bearing states. However offshore oil in reality should not belong to only littoral states. Let all security personnel be reposted to their states of origin and let Nigeria break up if it will break up. It will be an albatross off the neck of Africa and indeed the comity of nations |
magoo10:He never mentioned choosing a candidate for the SE |
LegendHero:How come Ikoyi is in Lagos then? Anything Ikoyi is Oyo |
Israel have to fight back if attacked I would not know exactly why PM Netanyahu escalated the Israeli attack on Lebanon immediately after a cease fire agreement was purportedly reached between Iran and the USA. The attack by Hezbollah on Israel was in solidarity with Iran and Hezbollah was expected to abide by any cease fire that is agreed upon. However on the overall or initially, Israel only responds to Hezbollah attacks on Israel emanating from Lebanon just like they respond to attacks from Syrian territory. You would not expect any entity to sit still while under attack. They have to fight back so as to keep on existing. It should also never be forgotten that it was the United Nations that recognized Israel in 1948 and there are now over nine million Israeli living in Israel including over seven million Jewish Israelis who can't be wished away. They have also added value to the land that was granted them as without Israel's desalination technology, the land will not have enough potable water to support one third of the people now living there. They will not have enough water for agriculture too. So the land is definitely worth far more than it was worth in the nineteenth century and it is because of the Israelis. Now, if there will be permanent peace in the region then the UN that approved the establishment of Israel must also guarantee security in the region. The land needs to be properly partitioned and there must be a neutral force to keep the peace. Any attack on Israel, Gaza, Lebanon West bank or Syria and etc by any group should be taken up by the neutral force led by the USA and funded by the UN. That is the only way to achieve permanent peace and to avoid a dangerous arms race in the region. There are already many such US bases around the world serving much the same purpose. |
If any group think they deserve 30 and are being given ten then they would have no choice than to withdraw their support from the President. Oil is also in the SW. The SW is second highest in oil production. There is no need to be saying oil is only from the SE and SS. Then the biggest assault on the Jonathan Presidency is the statement made by one MEND leader that Jonathan masterminded a bomb blast that killed Nigerians in Abuja. That is a first in Nigerian history. The person who said so did so under oath in South Africa. I think Henry Okah or so. There is nothing wrong if any group withdraw support from anyone at any time if they no longer feel served by that association |
ProudlyLagos:People forget that Lagos is not the most cosmopolitan city in Nigeria. It is Abuja followed by PH and then Lagos in my opinion or at least Lagos and PH at par. What Lagos has is population. Today cities like Accra and Abidjan even Dakar and many others now have better infrastructure and even skyline than Ibadan and this happened because of Nigeria. Only a breakup of Nigeria can bring restoration yet some are saying the Yoruba are lucky because of Lagos! |
franchasng:At the end of the day, the reality is that anybody can be chairman and who is chairman should not be an issue ordinarily. The people in ADC are still in ADC and they are the ones that will run the party. Is Mr Nafiu going to reduce anybody's vote during the primaries? |
franchasng:If all the old party members can agree that the constitution was changed then the only hurdle left will be if the old exco actually all resigned. If the resignation can't be proved there will still be issues |
franchasng:It is a two way thing was my point. It applies to both parties. Any party can sue and both have decided not to. The big thing the Mr Bala is using is not signature or no signature. That is diversionary. The big deal is that the new chairman is not eligible to be chairman according to the party constitution. Mr Bala can't last as chairman either. He can only be acting chairman |
Scorpio99:It is like someone who agreed to marry you but later reneged. There is a loophole and he is now using it. One big loophole is the party constitution that says you must be two years in the party before being made an exco. |
franchasng:Then why are you fighting online against somebody that supports your Peter Obi? Is he a leper that he can't be the chairman even for two weeks? As chairman, what can he do alone? He can't do anything alone and he definitely can not determine who wins an open primary election |
franchasng:You fail to realize that the people he accused of forgery can also sue him since they have an integrity and name to protect. If someone accuses you of rape, will you let it pass? |
Scorpio99:Who should it then go to? He was the deputy. Acting chairman is temporary and possibly can be removed even a week after. It is clear that some interests are using the man but it is because the new members left the door opened. Can the man do anything without the input of those big shots in the party? No. So why not do the right thing and reform the exco? |

muumu, Yoruba didn’t develop Lagos but who did? Lagos was a colony before the amalgamation of Nigeria and it was far developed than anywhere else in Nigeria and the Federal capital territory was just Lagos island and yaba while the rest of the mainland was firmly under the western region govt so tell us who developed Lagos? You clowns have alway gone to town with that flawed narrative for too long and we will always be here to set the record straight for you clowns whose obsession and covetous attitude for Lagos Yorubaland have always made you Throw logic out the window…….western region headed by Awolowo as always been the most developed and most progressive region which Ibadan the city of many first is a testament to how developmental prowess and may I remind you that oyo state is just the size of your 5plot region and oyo state is still far more developed and more economically viable than your entire region…….and what as my state of origin got to do with the fact laid? Is Lagos not in yorubaland? Btw I’m proudly from Lagos like you can see on my Monika and i don’t know why this is always a problem for you clowns who choose to always contest the ownership of Lagos? Is Lagos in iboland? You clowns should get a grip of yourself and stop this nauseating obsession with another man’s heritage btw proudly Lagos
