The Obama campaign team sent activists in a ‘big bird’ costume to Mitt Romney’s campaign. The ad mocks the Republican candidate for singling out the public broadcaster behind Sesame Street for spending cuts. One read ‘this middle-class tax hike brought to you by R-O-M-N-E-Y’ Mr Romney said in a presidential debate last week that he would slash funding to PBS, despite liking Big Bird. Opinion polls suggest Mr Romney has hit Mr Obama’s lead after the Republican’s strong debate performance. With election day looming on 6 November, the two White House rivals campaigned on Tuesday in the key election swing state of Ohio. No endorsement! It’s a Big, Yellow, Menace Sesame Workshop, the non-profit behind the long-running children’s show, said in a statement that it was a nonpartisan organisation. “We do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns,” the organisation said. “We have approved no campaign ads and, as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.” Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt said the campaign was considering the request. The US government partially funds PBS and National Public Radio, both targets of conservative politicians. Mr Obama has used Mr Romney’s comments in their first debate to attack the Republican candidate’s spending priorities. The advertisement pokes fun at Mr Romney with clips of him mentioning Big Bird and PBS throughout the campaign. “One man has the guts to say his name,” says the ad, flashing to Mr Romney and then the feathered character. “Big. Yellow. A menace to our economy. Mitt Romney knows it’s not Wall Street you have to worry about. It’s Sesame Street.” A Romney spokesman accused the Obama campaign on Tuesday of not focusing on serious issues. “I just find it troubling that the president’s message, the president’s focus 28 days from election day, is Big Bird,” Kevin Madden told reporters. The latest Reuters poll suggests Mr Romney has erased Mr Obama’s advantage with voters on a range of issues, including the economy. A Pew Research Center poll indicated Mr Romney was leading the president by four points. And according to a Gallup poll, Mr Romney was at 49% to Mr Obama’s 47% among likely voters. However, Mr Obama was leading in the same survey among registered voters. VIA - XtremeGists

A bus conveying passengers just sumersaulted at Costain bustop A commercial bus just summersalted at Costain bus-stop in Ebutte-Meta region of Lagos. The said bus was conveying passengers and smmersalted in full glare of commuters at the junction says an eye-witness. The bus “landed on the conductor and another lady, a passenger. It was spilling, thankfully, diesel. Folks dashed for the scene immediately. And there I saw the Nigerian spirit! In what seemed like a telepathic agreement, a group of young men gathered around d bus, bent under d side on d ground, and started pushing! The men were pushing, and one of them sincerely praying to God for mercy on the people the bus was resting upon. The push was tough. The bus wasn’t a Danfo, it was just a big bus. At a stage, it started coming back, almost overpowering the pushers. The clear danger here was that it could fall again and then finally kill those under it. So the spirit of emergency took over. The push was intensified. More hands joined. And…at last…the bus was raised. http://xtremegists.com/2012/10/flash-bus-sumersaults-at-costain-bustop-ebutte-meta/ |

Iskra: @el-patch...these are the type of comments that show how very far removed and pathetic our values have become. Of everything to comment about in that post, it is his watch that caught your eye. He wasn't in a fashion show, he has just been made an ambassador due to his hard work, his using his mind constructively and all you see is his watch. If you were to give a talk to secondaRY school or primary school students(sorry, you cant even give a talk I am sure) what would you tell them. Watch or shoes or car or shirt doesnt add any value to you. Think creatively and produce something that endures and be contented with what you have or work with your conscience to make life better for yourself. Not only seeing his shinning watch because I am sure you will do same if you were in school in a university or even walking on the streets and you might even be salivating with dangerous greed and only the amount of values you have in you will determine what it will lead you to do. A strong value system is a priceless commodity. Spread this. If you dont wear a gold watch in your life it doesnt make you less a m,an. If you produce the best furniture there is by your hard work it is better than the naked avarice you just showed in your post. This is what happens to students in schools ,universities and even in our society on general where wrong values has led to our society standing on its head and it is the result we see everyday playing out in all sorts of cultist criminal gangs wanting to wear fine clothes as a sign of belonging(stupid thinking) or force a girl to go out with them(weaklings in their minds), drive a car you dont have the means to own or care for(criminality and laziness). Lets reset our values, we dont need church or mosque for this we need people to shed every form of societal pretence and hold on to true substance. Hard work really pays, hard work and smart CONSCIENTOUS thinking pays.Hey easy dude,,, easy! |
Akshow: for real?Yeah for REAL bro |
A very hearty congrats to him,,, he's a big talent. |

manosteel: What have we done to Farouk Lawal, Oteodola? Most times, we channel our energies pursuing showdows and forget about the real thing.Leave the bunch of fools at the EFCC,,, left the likes of Otedola, Mike Adenuga, Obasanjo, Diezani Alison Madueke and co to chase shadows... stupid move by a failed government! |
maclatunji: Of course and they don't ask questions about how a single man can afford to give such huge amounts away without stealing or some other form of crime. Even Dangote can't give away N1 billion without putting his business in danger. He can only make such donations to fuel political campaigns to get $1 billion in return.Who is this big fool?? Do you know that at one point Bill Gates shared his wealth in two and gave half to charity?? we're talking twenty something BILLION DOLLARS... so get yur shit right! Nigerians are just known for greediness, selfishness, and other top nonsense you can blab about! The EFCC are a bunch of canker-worms! Do you think if you pay tithe you can collect it again?? They're just ignoramus'! I won't blame them, Nigeria is a failed state! The fools planning on arresting ministers of God - Rev Fr, - should be prepared for the wrath of heaven... |

Thanks to you, me and all of you all – Facebook’s hit it’s 1billion active users milestone!Facebook CEO - Mark Zuckerberg today said in a statement on facebook blog that the popular social media network has reached a 1 billion "active users milestone". “This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month. If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you. Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life. I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too,” wrote Zuckerberg in an official blog post. Facebook had 955 million active users in July 2012, and though gaining 45 million users is not a small task, it seems as if the world’s biggest online social network took a little bit more time than expected reaching the 1 billion milestone. So how active are you on the popular social media, are you one of the great facebook active users?? http://techinfomania.com/2012/10/facebook-harnesses-1billion-active-users/ |
Nayoanalytical: I want to advise the so-called Nigerian stars and perhaps celebrities,no day passes without seeing in Nairaland the Birthday pictures of the Ini Edos,Monalisas,Genevives,Elliots,Okereke Linus',Joke Silvas,Omosexys etc.Brothers and sisters, let us stop brandishing all these stuffs perhaps showing that you are opulent.Nigerians are hungry and need change in economy,'fighting corruption in high places, fighting against injustices, these should be our targets as a people who have future and not just showing me pictures all day long.Youths do not have jobs,no more sense of belonging because of high rate of poverty, most people have resorted to self help like kidnapping, ritualism, armed robbery etc.Let us stop much of this merriment and ask our crumbling government some questions and back them up with actions.Like seriously?? So real cool peeps like you still exist in Nairaland and Nigeria as a whole?? I thought it was filled with knuckle heads like the poster and the immature broads all voicing stupid thoughts... |

Kip wasting ur cock-breaths hating on a lady who will still act on screen n make more money no matta wat ya'll think abt ha.How much do she earn for screen acts?? Nigerian actors and actresses are the worst paid in the world,,, so it points to big wig prostitution... |
dasparrow: @PostLike seriously, I was confused myself! If it were an American celeb that talked back to his twitter followers all social media would go frenzy! Btw Twitter will abruptly ban he or she... What was she even saying? I don't think that broad attended a secondary school ![]() |
