You must be very f00lish. For your information, impeachment notice is just like query. Why can't Almakura respond to the allegations? why did he run to Abuja to cut corners? Imagine the f00l of a governor using millions of local government funds for DTA for himself and his wife and you're here typing rubbish with those leprosy eaten fingers of yours. Its your kind of youth that destroys this country.

When I read about people's silly comments on NL sometimes, I laugh. There is this scholarship exams organised by NUC for first class graduates yearly, and in the last exercise, the first 20 best candidates were from private universities. EducationASUU Walks Out On Ministers, National Assembly Members by Leebeedo(op): 9:52am On Jul 10, 2013
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday walked out on senators, House of Representatives members, the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayat Rufai and her Labour counterpart, Emeka Wogu.

ASUU members, who are on an indefinite strike over a face-off with the Federal Government, staged the walkout during a meeting called by the National Assembly Joint Committee on Education to find a lasting solution to the crisis.

This is as the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, yesterday agreed to suspend its sevenweek old strike.

The Joint Education Committee had invited both ASUU and ASUP to a meeting in order to find a way out of the strike embarked on by both unions.

The committee also invited Rufai and Wogu to the parley.

However, while the meeting between ASUP and the two ministers were still ongoing, representatives of ASUU, who were asked to wait for their turn, walked out of the premises of the National Assembly to protest what they described as undue delay and waste of their time.

The representatives of the ASUU left the National Assembly Complex in annoyance, saying they were slighted. One of the members, who declined to give his name, told newsmen that they had another appointment to attend.

Another said, “asking us to excuse them is a slight; why should they ask us to excuse them; what is it that they want to discuss that we cannot be part of.”

The lawmakers, who were oblivious of the action of the university lecturers, were astounded when they were briefed later. Also, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, Senator Uche Chukwumerije, who chaired the joint sitting, expressed anger over the action.

He, however, fixed another day for the meeting with ASUU officials. Chukwumerije said that the committee would intensify its negotiation with the government to ensure that the issues at stake were resolved.

“All we are urging is that you call an emergency meeting with 24 hours because the students are getting restive. We need to understand that if these students go out of hand, it will cause more problems for the country.

“Please trust us to keep to this two weeks we have given you to try and implement your demands,” he said. Senator Sunny Ugbuoji (PDP-Ebonyi) said it was unacceptable for ASUU to walk out on the committee as this showed a disregard for the entire parliament.

“ASUU has walked out on us and this should be said in plain terms. What meeting can be more important than this meeting?” Ugbuoji asked. Reacting to the development a member of the committee, Hon. Farouk Lawan, described ASUU members’ action as academic arrogance.

Lawan said ASUU should have been patient and waited to hear from the members and the ministers, noting that no other meeting could be more important.

He urged the committee chairmen not to relent in rescheduling another meeting with ASUU in the interest of the students who were still at home.

He described the “snub” by the ASUU representatives as not expected of university lecturers. During the meeting with polytechnic lecturers, the Joint Committee on Education was able to resolve the issue as the National President of ASUP, Dr. Chibuzor Asomugha, said his members would do everything possible to call off the strike soon.

He said: “We will try everything within our ambit to do the biddings of the National Assembly on the need for us to call off the strike soonest.”

Samuraigirl: I couldn't help but shake my head in shame at some of the comments you lot have made up here. Try to get your facts right before you put any trash here as you'll only end up displaying your heights of ignorance (and ignorance is no excuse) hence disgracing yourselves.
Have you students never stopped for a brief moment to wonder at the state of our university environment and how debasing most universities tutors offices and lecture halls are? Some even share office spaces and have had to furnish their offices using their personal funds. I had a very brief stint with one of the major oil companies when I returned to this country. There was so much at my disposal- luxury office space, everything good that you can imagine as you read this were part of the perks the job offered but I had to leave the job for lecturing in one of the fed.unis. This was what made me decide to return home and I was only diverting from my original intent taking up the initial job.
I practically shuddered when i was told how much I'd be getting as a tutor with a doctorate degree but i went ahead with the job.
My second disappoint was being shown a store room sort of as my office and the worse part was having to share it (i love my personal space and i was completely put off).
Told them straight up that i wasn't going to work in such immediate environment. Was promised an extreme make-up of the space but no i didn't get that even after series of applications from me and the dean to the works dept. Did I say the dean's office was also a turn-off? uncountable yeses to that. Well, the summary of this all is that I had to cough out a little over a million to get my office fixed to my taste. I've been promised a refund but i'm not banking on that. Was told of office reshuffling couple of months after i'd fixed my office but i had to make it known upfront to the authorities that I wasn't moving an inch. Then came the case of my having to temporarily give up my space for a foreign prof who was on his sabbatical. I bet you know what my response was. I even had to contribute about 40 percent of the money used in purchasing a power generating set for the faculty as the one they had was a noise mill right behind my office.
I have spent alot providing study materials for students and some other things i've had to personally fund.
I was opportuned to be in the office of one of the legislators in Abuja when I was doing an EIA job and i was suprised at all the facilities my eyes saw not to mention the bunch of men clad in suits all in the name of PA. I asked myself what particular jobs this lot did that they provided these men to assist them and at the end of the month, taxpayers monies will appear in their various accounts.
I could go on and on but i'll stop here. I think you students deserve better than what you're currently being dished out. I don't see students unanimously revolting in this country. Why is that? We're richly blessed in this country. You and your teachers deserve better learning environment, working environment and working conditions. So if you lot can't stand up for yourselves, let your tutors do that for you while you stop

spewing trash fron your gobs.
May God bless you and your generation, the silly populace don't and will never understand. I am a lecturer too and I'm ready to wash my dirty linens outside.
Do u know that a fresh intake in CBN earns around 250k with a first degree qualification and he gets so many fringe benefits inclussive such as pay for building, car and lots more while a Phd holder in the university earns around 160k. Imagine the huge disperity!

One of them, Agboola Kolawole, who blamed his indulgence on poverty and inability to pay his children’s school fees, disclosed that he had so far sold four heads of his deceased siblings to a herbalist, who in turn sold to some persons they identified simply as Alhajis. The Alhajis, as gathered, offered to pay one of the suspects N40,000 to get a live human being, only for the suspect, Sanni Kazeem, to be apprehended during his search for prey.

alakid: Some people can be so illiterate and would r wait to learn facts before they type rubbish.
None of Nasarawa state govs has ever been Hausa/fulani
Abdullahi Adamu, Aho tribe
Akwe Doma, Alago tribe
Almakura, Gwandara tribe
The main issue in Nasarawa state is that of a greedy tribe (eggon) that is hell bent on gettin power in 2015, note the Eggon control only 2 local govts out of 13. Do the maths
The Egons are part of the real owner of Nasarawa state. The Gwandara people migrated from borno state and are really few.The egons are the ones that voted almakura into power with a pact that he will rule for just 1 tenure and solomon will take over. u know how power is.....the rest is history.
My question for you is why did the governor habour fulani herdsmen and Chadians in his home town when he knows than they attack egons. All these while that they've been attacking egons, did he say anything in the dailies?

Nigeria is doomed! I live and work in Lafia and I want to give u guys a full gist of what really happened.
Everything boils down to 2015 gubernatorial race. The Egon people said they are tired of been ruled by foreigners (i.e migrants from Maiduguri) which the current governor Umaru Tanko Almakura and the emir of Lafia are and so they’ve started preparing for 2015 elections. The militia group actually recruited youths but they never did it forcefully, Egon youths voluntarily enlisted themselves because we never heard of such occurrence @ the church (Egons are predominantly Christians, say 98%). Sometimes, we see the militia group matching around Lafia peacefully with their black uniform not disturbing anyone or causing mayhem and even sometimes, we see their leader drive around his SUV robed with all sort of charms and we laughed.
The governor got scared because of the growing strength of the militia and even attacked them severally through Fulani herdsmen, they even killed a Fulani herdsman close to my house early this year.
The governor’s second shot was through the emir. He invited the chief priest to his palace and tried to charm him but the chief priest defeated him and it was even rumoured that the emir was dead that period. (RUMOUR)
Discovering that he couldn’t succeed with his Fulani herdsmen and the emir strategy, he decided to use the police, SSS and civil defence guys through the commissioner of police, one stupid Yoruba man that doesn’t know his job and really good at driving around Lafia with his dead BMW disturbing with siren sound. The commissioner fell for it and he sent his boys to arrest the chief priest of the militia. They claim to have gone there peacefully to arrest him, but ask why they went with machine guns. The killed some of the militia guys but the militia wiped them all, just about 6 of them escaped. I don’t think the militia group used guns because I went to the hospital where they deposited their remains (Dalahatu Specialist Hospital at Shendam road) and I saw deep cutlass cuts on them and I also saw stuffs like blue powder on them, they were burnt and were over 100 in number. Immediately this happened, the governor ran to Abuja and later ran to kano probably to meet with the emir. The commissioner cried all through but many don’t know why he cried. It’s because he’s to retire in 2 months’ time but now will likely face dismissal.
The candidate egons want to put forward is Solomon Ewugha (not sure of the spelling)
