I don't think you need to change your accent. However you need to understand that Nigerian English is a lot different from British English, from phrasing down to pronounciations.
i.e. Nigerians: "They are telling me I did well!" British: "They've said I did well"
or Nigerians: "I have spent years doing retail banking in Nigeria" British: "In Nigeria, I spent several years working in retail banking"
Thos are the areas of speech you need to be mindful of when trying to communicate. We Nigerians tend to talk fast as well so that is another area to focus on if you want to be understood by your colleagues. Fast, how? 1 Like |

I'm just wondering why the agent would even consider allowing someone who is new in the UK with no licence for manual car to drive one?
Na strategic! BTW.. taking a horse to the river don't mean it would drink from the river.. The op would have just been honest like she's done here to the agent and buy sometime to watch YouTube and learn. |

Told them I can drive both You are perfect with automatic, but trial and error with manual. Kindly request provision for an automatic or search for one to purchase as its requirement for your job. If you are not confident on manual, and tomorrow the woman gives you keys and say drive my husband decline if you must. In the meantime take a deep breathe, and have a good sleep make fatigue no go add to tomorrow issues at hand. Cheers 2 Likes |
