@Dutchleez please let us know what the RFE/RFIE was about when you get it. |
Dutchleez:Hang in there bro. You'll get your approval soon enough. I hear they are pretty faster these days. |
sharpman1:Congrats in advance bro. They will contact you to submit your passport soon. |
ojay2053:I'm guessing International Passport and Passport Photo. |
Tunduncious:Click on this link below and go through the thread. You'll see the answer there. https://www.nairaland.com/4800968/usa-fiancee-k1-visa-thread |
ojay2053:Yeah don't wait for 30 days. Its usually a generic statement. Let her call. They will ask for your details and hers...so she should have them handy. |
ojay2053:Well we thank God it has been approved. I suggest your petitioner calls the NVC guys. That was what my petitioner did even though mine was K1 Visa and not CR1/IR1 Visa. |
ifunanyamaka:3 months? Wow, yours was fast! Awesome. Please can you tell us the questions that were asked during the interview? Also concerning the interview scheduling, I'm told its the NVC together with the Embassy that schedules the interview, so does that mean that there's no need to create a portal with ustraveldocs? If so, how does one track his or her passport after the interview? |
ojay2053:Ask this question on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5116939/usa-spousal-visa-process-k3 |
JWTheocracy1:Send a PM to Modath (her phone number is also on her profile page). She seems to know a lot about the process. Be careful though of scammers as I can't vouch for her. But I notice she's an active nairalander and several of her posts has made feontpage in the past. I believe that speaks well of her integrity. But again, I'm not 100% sure she's genuine. |
LegitBachelor:I also invite my fellow nairalanders to this thread. Please let's discuss. |
experttaiw:Post your question on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5116939/usa-spousal-visa-process-k3. I will respond there. I don't want to derail this thread as its solely for K1 Visa discussions. |
Let me start by saying the much I know about Spousal (CR1, IR1) Visa. CR1/IR1 Visa is issued to the spouse of a US Citizen or US permanent resident. The major requirement for the issuance of the CR1/IR1 Visa is marriage. If the marriage is two years or more the visa issued is IR1 Visa but if less than 2 years then CR1 Visa is issued. The process starts with the US Citizen or Permanent Resident filing a petition for his/her spouse using the form i130. The filled form along with the required documents is submitted to USCIS. It takes quite a while to get approved (I hear it could take up to a year). Once its approved, the case file is sent to NVC for further processing. The NVC then transfers the casefile to the embassy and schedules an interview for the beneficiary. If the interview is successful, the visa is then issued. The beneficiary gets the greencard the very moment he/she enters the State (unlike fiancee visa where he/she has to file for green card which could take up to 6 months or more). I guess thats the summary. Spousal Visa is cheaper than Fiancee Visa. Both US Citizen and US Permanent Resident can apply for Spousal Visa unlike Fiancee Visa that can only be filed for by a US Citizen. However Spousal Visa Petition takes a longer time to be approved compared to Fiancee Visa (1 year vs 6 months). This means the petitioner won't be with his/her beneficiary for quite a while if going through the Spousal Visa route but the advantage of the Spousal Visa is that the beneficiary gets the green card immediately he/she steps into the States unlike the beneficiary of the Fiancee Visa who woild have to apply for green card (that takes up to 6 months minimum or even over one year). I recommend you click on this link for the official info on how to apply for Spousal Visa: https://www.uscis.gov/family/family-us-citizens/bringing-spouses-live-united-states-permanent-residents This link is the wikipedia of Spousal Visa: https://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/IR1_and_CR1_Immigrant_Visas. You'll get lots of info there. Honorable Mentions |
experttaiw:Unfortunately this thread is dedicated solely for K1 Visa. I have searched for discussion thread for Spousal Visa bit didnt see any. However I saw a very scanty thread on Spousal Visa which I hope will blossom into an active thread in no distant time. You may want to register your presemce there. I will post comments there too once in a while. Here's the link to the thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5116939/usa-spousal-visa-process-k3 |
Drenimarcus:Finally! Congrats bro. I wish you and your future Iyawo the very best. |
cookiejar99:You're right. There seems to be no dedicated thread for discussions on Spousal Visa. Perhaps this thread can serve. I however noticed you included K3 Visa in the title. K3 Visa is no longer issued. So I suggest you modify it to just CR1 and IR1 Visa. I hope to be active on this thread even though I didn't apply for Spousal Visa. I rather went through the Fiancee Visa route but there are some similarities. I will contribute the much I can and share some experiences I had in my fiancee visa journey that I feel will be beneficial to those on the Spousal Visa journey. Regards. |
tadetobi:The Visit Visa (B1/B2). experttaiw:Since he's married, he can't apply for K1 or K2. He should go for IR1/CR1 Visa (Spousal Visa) |
Drenimarcus:Calm down its not even up to 5 business days. Your visa should be ready by end of work today or tomorrow. It usually takes 5 to 10 business days. Yours should be out in 5 to 7 business days since you were told by the CO that it will take 1 week. So just relax bro. God has already done it for you. |
Beautyaddy:@nextlevel2222, In addition to the entry stamp you can also get an i94 printout from this site: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/ Click on "Get Most Recent i94" For the other documents needed to get your SSN you can see my previous post on it (https://www.nairaland.com/4800968/usa-fiancee-k1-visa-thread/22#77395643) |
Esorae85:Yes there is but I don't think it's that expensive. It's used to be in the range of N1000 in 2017. Perhaps it should be around N5000 or less at present. It is done by the High Courts and is sent directly to the embassy. You'll be given a receipt after payment. A copy of the receipt and divorce decree is to be submitted by you to the embassy. I'm told this divorce decree verification can only be done if the US Embassy gives you a go ahead to do it. But you may go to the High Court Registry to inquire further. And yes the medicals can be done in Abuja. Someone has already addressed this on this thread. You need to read from the beginning to see discussions on this. You can also click this link: https://www.nairaland.com/4800968/usa-fiancee-k1-visa-thread/15#75580903 |
saintrise:DS 3025 is called Vaccination Documentation Worksheet. It is filled by the Physician and included in your sealed medical report which is not to be opened until you get to the embassy. You'll however also get a photocopy of the DS 3025 as a personal copy. Keep that document as you will need it when you want to apply for greencard. |
Enasdan:No it has no effect. |
sandraigho:I don't understand your question. Are you concerned that they will find out you had sex with your fiance? They have no business on your sex life. Your sex life business is between you and God. You won't be denied because of being pregnant. Or Is your question about the fate of your unborn child? You won't be denied visa if you are pregnant. They may however ask question on where you intend giving birth and they will need evidence to show that both you and your fiance is ready and able to pay fully for the delivery of your child in the United States. Provision of such evidence might be difficult but once it's done then you are good. If not, they will delay your visa till after your delivery and will also advise you do K2 for the child. Personally I will advice you wait till after delivery before you go for your medicals as you will have to do X-ray which is not safe for the baby. |
@Teefortee, thanks for your kind words. And yes o, the name is changed lol. For your medicals, you are to go with your International passport, interview confirmation printout, letter from NVC that shows your case number, small sized passport photo. Most medicals don't require an appointment. A simple walk in is okay. You might need to call in advance to be sure of the exact passport photo dimension. Blood samples and urine samples will be taken. Also you'll be given some immunisation shots. Other tests that will be done are eye vision test, blood pressure measurement, height, weight, etc. You'll also see a doctor at the end. He will take your medical history and do some medical examination. By and large, its usually a routine without much issue. However if the person has an infectious disease, then that disease has to be treated first before they can forward your report to the embassy. I posted my experience when I went for my medical assessment. See link here: https://www.nairaland.com/4800968/usa-fiancee-k1-visa-thread/7#73999234 The number of B1/B2 visa rejections has no effect in your K1 visa application. All they want to know is if your relationship is genuine. Once you guys have evidence to show that then you are good. I wish you guys the very best. |
@sandraigho, the B1/B2 Visa has no negative effect on your K1 Visa and vice versa. You can even visit your fiancee with your B1/B2 Visa while you wait for the K1 Visa application to be adjudicated upon. |
Drenimarcus:Your leave is granted bro. Your Fiancee deserve a treat today ![]() |
Drenimarcus:Wow congrats bro. I'm so happy for you. Kudos to your fiancee, she deserved the kiss and much more ![]() @sandraigho, I advice you go back home and commence the K1 Visa Process. Its the right thing to do. People have stayed behind in the States, got married and filed to adjust status and got their green card but it's a risk not worth taking. |

mrversatile:Read this thread from the beginning till the end, you'll get lots of info that'll guide you appropriately. You can also click this link: https://www.nairaland.com/4800968/usa-fiancee-k1-visa-thread/9#74840688 In summary, it's best to wait till you get a go ahead from the embassy before scheduling your interview. You can get the go ahead via email from LagosIV@state.gov or via tracking your status on the consulate website: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker It's also advisable that you are preemptive while waiting. Don't just relax, send them an email (email should contain the following info: fiance email, case number, date of birth, passport number, phone number) inquiring if they've received your casefile and also be checking your status online. PS: While booking your appointment, make sure it's at least two to three weeks after your medicals. |
@OOT1, No need to contact them again. They'll respond in a weeks time. Even if they don't, you're still fine. |
Esorae85:Not advisable. They tend to mess things up. The petitioner along with his/her fiance can do it. All it takes is a bit of reading and asking questions. |
nextlevel2222:The cost is $1225. Documents required are basically the documents you and your petitioner submitted when submitting the i129F form. You'll also need to submit Marriage Certificate, DS3025 (vaccination record), K1 Visa, i94, NOA1 and NOA2 and other documents to support your adjustment of status submission (i485). You may also wish to submit documents that confirms your relationship is genuine. Example of such documents include communications logs (emails, WhatsApp, etc), joint bank account, joint insurance coverage, pictures of wedding and other loved up pictures, etc. The USCIS should give you full details on the necessary requirements. Also there is the i485 instruction document that will guide your submission. The wedding should be genuine. That's all that is required. Even if nobody attend your wedding, you're fine as long as the marriage is genuine. Regards. |
