Worriedgurl:Its a document that gives details on the time you entered the States. Just google it and locate their website and click on it, type in your passport number and date of birth on the relevant section within the website, it will bring out your entry records. You can then print it out. Note that this only done after you've entered the States. |
Worriedgurl:I'm yet to get my drivers license but I can tell you what I think are required. I'm not 100% sure though. The documents required are your social security number, your passport photo, your international passport, your drivers license and evidence of place of residence (this I will use the mail I got from the bank, my marriage license and mail from SSN as they all have my residential address written on them) and i94 printout. Note however that you must have resided in the State for 30 days before applying for Drivers license. |
Beautyaddy:Yeah you will have to update your SSN once you get the green card. But the beauty of it all is that its done free of charge! The reason why its important to get the SSN asap is because it is needed to get drivers license, some Courts need it for marriage and some Banks need it for opening of account. I had to get the SSN solely because of getting drivers license. I can't imagine myself not driving for a long time. I need to drive around town ![]() |
bojar:Its normal to see Administrative Processing. Every application always go onto Admin Processing before it gets Issued. As long as you weren't told to submit any additional documents, you are fine. Mine also read Admin Processing until the 5th business day before it changed to Issued. I won't be surprised if the Administrative Processing changes to Issued for you either today or tomorrow. Congrats once again. |
For those who have entered the States with their K1 Visa, I advice you go get your Social Security Number (SSN) asap. I got mine without stress. All they need is for you to fill out the form (you can get the forms online or get it in their office), present your international passport, your birth certificate and your i94 printout. Once you do that, your number will be out within 2 weeks. No single dollar charged! I've gotten mine and intend using it to get my drivers license. Note that you can still go ahead and get married to your fiancee without the SSN. You can even open a joint account with your fiancee without the SSN. It's only a few Courts and a few Banks that insists on SSN before you can get married or open a joint account. I did mine without getting the SSN. However I couldn't get my drivers license without the SSN and that's why I had to wait for my SSN before applying for drivers license. Regards |
@nayee and @bojar, did the consular officer tell you when it'll be ready? Mine told me 5 business days and it was issued on exactly the 5th business day (exactly one week). I also overhead them tell some applicants 10 business days which is 2 weeks. Don't worry, you guys will get it. However I recommend you contact them via email if you get no response after 2 weeks. Regards. |
Anacye:I honestly don't know. |
Anacye:You may want to ask Shaybebaby. She visited Jamaica sometime ago. I got to know from her thread. Send her a PM or ask someone on the thread she created: https://www.nairaland.com/3356874/jamaica-no-problem |
bojar:You are welcome bro. Please keep us updated. God bless. |
bojar:You can track your passport using this link: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw== Secondly, I don’t have another Means of ID required for collection, so I intend going with photocopy of my Passport data page and my Appointment Confirmation page (My ATM too) Will I have stress getting my passport with just these ?I don't think you will have any issues. |
DankbaresHerz:Send me a PM. |
desertboom:I'm sorry this thread is not for that. This thread is for those who already have a fiance who is a US Citizen. However I can post a comment made by someone on this thread to guide you accordingly. Here is it below: lasthero: |
DankbaresHerz:212(a)(4) is given if they think you cannot take care of yourself financially when they give you the Visa. This won't be a problem for K1 Visa as long as your fiancee is working and earning a living wage. She Will be your Sponsor. She can even get someone else to join as a co-sponsor. So you are good if that's the case. PS: Below is a breakdown of the different 212(a) denials: 212(a)(4) - denial due to Inadequate Financial Support 212(a)(6)(C)(i) - denial due to Fraud and Misrepresentation 212(a)(9)(B)(i) - denial due to Unlawful Stay in the US |
DankbaresHerz:Please clarify what section of 212a were you issued. There are three I am aware of: 212(a)(4) 212(a)(6)(C)(i) 212(a)(9)(B)(i) |
A3AP10:Oh Ok. That explains it. Well this thread is for K1 Visa only. I'm glad you've resolved it though. |
A3AP10:I'm really confused with your question. Normally, an account is created with ustraveldocs BEFORE you go for your interview NOT AFTER. What kind of visa was issued? K1 (Fiance Visa) or IR1/CR1 (Spousal Visa) or F (Family Visa)? I suspect the later. Well since you are done with the interview, I don't think you need to create a new account with ustraveldocs. Just go and pick up your passport. |
A3AP10:Did you not create an account with ustraveldocs before going for the interview? If you did then there is no need to create another account. Just go to the address on that paper (DHL Office) and pick up your passport. Congrats. Please give us updates on your progress. Regards. |
Drenimarcus:We are managing bro. Wish I could start working asap...but it's a gradual process. |
There is an immigration thread created by a US Embassy Visa Officer: https://www.nairaland.com/5073021/u.s-immigration-questions-ask-u.s I recommend we also post our K1 Visa questions there too. Lets however note that the only questions relating to the US Embassy can be attended to by the VO. Regards. |
Drenimarcus:No Its very small. Even smaller than a regular passport. 4x3 is actually 1.18x1.57 inches which is smaller than 2x2 which is 2x2 inches. You can check out this link: https://www.idphoto4you.com/?Target=SamplePage_Common |
bojar:Its good that you rectified it. You might get turned back if you meet an overzealous contract staff working with the embassy. Correcting it is very easy. Just a simple mail will do. So why risk it. |
Worriedgurl:Its always good to ensure that the DS160 barcode is on the appointment printout and that number should match with what is on the DS160 printout. It might not be a critical issue to the main embassy guys but those overzealous Nigerian guys working with cgi might turn you back. cc: @bojar |
Worriedgurl:Yes it was handed over to the embassy during the visa interview. However when you go to pick up your visa, you'll also be given a sealed brown envelope. I believe the sealed brown envelope contains the medicals you submitted along with other stuff like the police report and so on. That brown envelope is to accompany you during your flight to the States. The envelope should not be in your luggage but should be in your backpack because you'll have to turn it in. |
Guys, I'm now in the States ![]() I entered the States (Dallas Fort Worth) with a one way flight. Was anticipating having issues with the airlines and was ready for them. Was ready to lecture them on what K1 Visa means, lol. But I didn't have any issues at all. I made sure my medical envelope was in my backpack. When we arrived, I was directed straight to the CBP guys who took the envelope and tore it right in my very eyes. I was directed to a room to wait. I met like 5 guys there. After a while, it was my turn and they gave me back my passport along with a yellow form (I think it's for agric quarantine) and took me straight to the luggage section where I'm to claim my luggage. Was told to go straight to the agric section once I get my luggage. Luckily my luggage was not searched. Was only asked if I came with fresh seeds which I said no. I only had processed food which have been partly cooked and/or grounded. So they just passed my luggage through an X-ray machine and let me go. And that was it! My finacee was waiting for me on the other end. It was so emotional for me. Thanks guys for the active participation. I promise to still keep in touch. This visa journey is a continuous one. Will always keep you all updated. I enjoin us to do the same too. Regards. |
Tobbylhobah:You are welcome. Please give us updates on your progress. |
sisiorente:You are welcome. I'm glad you've been able to fix it. Please keep us updated. Regards. |
Tobbylhobah:You will pay for yours and each of your children under the K Visa Category. This is because you will fill the DS-160 form for each and everyone of them. Then when scheduling an interview, you will become the principal applicant and include their names as co-applicant. |
sisiorente:Go to your profile page and click on the appointment date. You should see an option of printing or sending the appointment confirmation to your email. |
abekeade1:Yes you can. As long as its less than 6 months old. I also used the passport I used while filling the DS-160 form. |
@Sisiorente, it's usually takes them 1 week to respond. However they usually send an automated response immediately you send the mail. Did you get the automated response? If you did then just hold on for 1 week or less, you'll get a response. And it's the same procedure whether for citizen or non-citizen. You can go ahead and book. You've already filled and submitted your DS-160, you have created your ustraveldoc profile and have even filled in your details. So go ahead and pick a date asap. |
@abekeade1, medicals can be done by a walk in. No need for prior appointment scheduling. However I advice you call to get all the necessary documents. I had posted the requirements for QLife Clinic on this thread because that was where I went for mine. But you can also get the requirements from the other clinic as well by either calling or sending an email. I don't know Lagos quite well, but I think both the hospital in Ikoyi and the one off Ajose Adeogun are almost equidistant from where you stay. I can't decide which one you should go to, but I recommend you call or email the two hospitals and decide which to go based on their response. If you feel fit, I recommend you go 3 weeks before the time of your interview. But if you feel you've got some form of infection, then go earlier. |
g7ayo:This is the reason why I always recommend people wait for the embassy to mail them before scheduling a date. Scheduling an interview date before being communicated by the embassy is a form of gambling and has its pros and cons. Well, no cause for alarm. Just don't panic. It should be resolved. First of all, have you tracked your casefile to know where it is? Do you know your case number? If you do, use it to track your casefile via the site: www.ceac.state.gov . If you've confirmed that your casefile has been sent to the embassy, send a mail to the embassy requesting to know the status of your casefile, you'll have to provide them with your details along with your fiancee's such as case number, passport number, full names, date of birth, etc. It usually takes them a week to respond. I'd they don't respond, just go for the interview with all your documents and hope for the best. At worst they'll ask you to reschedule. You won't be disqualified. Regards |
