Science/Technology › Re: 2012: End Of The World As We Know It? by lekside44(m): 3:12pm On Jan 14, 2010
earth quake, volacanic eruption, climatic changes cannot bring about the end of the world. what can bring about the end is the big bang in which all the universe are pulled together to a certain point by the gravitational force field. this compresive force at the centre tends to be greater than the replusive force between the nucleus of the atoms. as a result, we have a nuclear reaction in which the nuclear binding forces which holds the nucleous of the nucleous dissipate their energy to the enviroment. this energy throws all matters in different directions which results in the formation of another generation of universe. this theory had been proven by the observation of dopplers shift (dopplers effect) in the universe. only a collision with an astroid could end life otherwise (watch amargedion by bruce willis).

well, mutallab had been a good boy, a devoted Muslim who took is religion seriously. his problem came when he posted his loneliness on the internet. the terrorist group are also on the net chatting and scouting for potential terrorist. they caught up with this young boy, brain wash him and prepared him for the mission ahead. i will blame his father. i think he knows exactly what this boy wanted to do. the boy must have discussed it with him: his intention to blow up America and his level of training. this prompted him to go straight to American embassy and not Togo or Britain. the man has more to explain to the whole world

Crime › Re: Christmas Parcel Bomb Rocks Lagos Media House by lekside44(m): 3:50pm On Dec 24, 2009
what is really a bomb?
a bomb is a substance which can combust (burn) in a very short time. the faster the rate of combustion, the more the impact per unit mole of the material. in essence, we should be carefull when we used the word bomb. what we consider a bomb today, i do not see the lagos substance falling into that category. during the first world war, hydrogen gas is used as a bomb. but the impact compared with todays bomb is a childs play. a bomb works in this way. it burns at a very fast rate that it creats a very high instantaneous high temperature and pressure. this igh pressure now travels to other destinations so as to come ate equilibrum with othe atmosperic pressure. as this wave travels along, it shatters every substance it comes acrooss whose maximum yeild stress is lesser than the instantaneous value of the pressure at that point.
in essence if the explosion just chatters the boys hand, without even detonation the other once, then, it should not be taken as a bomb. rather, we should see it as a banger. maybe the boy is in the building to market his newly invented banger to Mr , , well, since this is xmas period, they should just leave the boy alone to go home, at least i hear more than a thousand banger everyday.

Interesting so far!

Tech Vs Financehuh for most engineering degree I believe its not Tech vs Finance but TECH FOR FINANCE!!!

Hot and mathematically oriented engineers are most sought after in Finance-Quant,Financial engineering and computational finance

Like engineers U build models, derivative products and then the world is in dire need of Novel Risk management models

If U have a PHD in stochatic calculus,Physics,Maths or Probalility with a grounding in C++-then your a rare breed for this Highly compensated and elite class of Engineers!!! -to me this is Tech Finance,
of what benefit is it for a man to have all this and lack money?

HI, Ajanlekoko
Am an EE graduate who has been arnd since feb. i luv to hav a career in telecoms but things just don't seem to be right yet. I got a job few months ago with a telcom infrastructure provider, but being a trainee engineer was sent to the NOC of one of their clients(A major player in the sector). What i want to kno plz is, if i shld continue along that path and HOPE to enter the main stream soon, or to abandon ship right away, coz, am actually not learning any thing there or at least thats what i think.
( i actually made a 2:1 frm skool)

And again, how and where can one build a career in telecoms, and if u don't mind, i need specific names of companies that can be a good breeding ground for me. I don't even mind the pay right now. Plz i need your advice, as soon as u can, i think its quite urgent!
you can not really learn much in the industry. if you are really bent on learning more, you should go and study further. our industries are really meant for potential manager or consultants and not really engineers as i really said when i entered this thread. nigeria is not conducive for design engineers.

Education › Why Do We Go To School/ What Do The Kids Learn In School by lekside44(op): 2:18pm On Oct 23, 2009
WHAT DO THE KIDS LEARN IN SCHOOL? is a popular verse from Will Smiths version of just the two of us. it is a pity that we have so many schools in the country today, but many are without aims and objectives. many students go to school today. but ask many why they are in school, you may be suprised that less than 10% knows why they are there.
learning is meant to be the priority reason, but a lot of people will say because they want to make money and get rich. you try to misbehave in public, people will say, but you said you are educated. why are you misbehaving? if then behaviour is one of the top priority of schools, what can we then say of our own mutallab who went to some of the best schools in the world?
going to the genesis of school and learning: the time of Aristole and other Greeks philosophers down to Alexander the Great who establish the first university why they did that?
basically their motives is to know more about nature, human behaiour and the society at large.
today, we hear a lot of noise on tv, radios and newspaper that the standard of education are falling by the day. i asked what are the standards required and what are the standards we are. what are we meant to be learning and what are we been taught. nairalanders your contributions pls

N207 million what?, thats a lot of money.
what the federal govt should have done is instead of demolishing the structure for the sewage pipe, why not redesing the pipe for the structure. law is made for man and not man for the law. even our creator, the ALMIGHTY FATHER alters some of his plans when moses and other great profects in the bible dialoded with him. for example God promise to put off his plan of destroying Sodom and Gommora on the request of abraham, but this could not materialised because the conditions were not meet. God prospone the destruction of isreal when king Ahab repented. I wounder if man were god, they would destroy us all because the type of sinnful life we are living is not the master plan of God for mankind when he created Adam. rather God makes an alternative plan B in person of our Lord Jesus christ.
i think they could have engauge in may be an underground tunnels for the sewages. At least in many advanve countries, they transport their sewages under ground passing through buildings, underground railways, etc.
abi do they have a share in the conpensation they want to pay the arewa hospital? anything is possible

well man, if you need your masters, just go 4 it anywhere your cash can afford you. 4 now i think your ideas and many young entrepreneur Nigerians can make any little difference because of the rigid structure of the establishments. maybe your msc certificate will increase your cash and status cote with the organisation. i bet, unless you are the minister of power or better still, your ideas for better and more efficient power production and distributions migth ends up in the dustbin or remains a dream forever.

While there, Turai will rub minds with the finest nuclear scientists on modern methods of firewood gathering and managing a charcoal fire. Career › Re: Telecommunications Professionals Zone by lekside44(m): 12:49pm On Sep 14, 2009
AjanleKoko:
Good question. In the old days, nobody had backhaul (transmission infrastructure) but NITEL, so everyone basically connected to NITEL. But since that carrier has basically gone south, all the networks started building their own trunking infrastructure, starting with microwave, and now with Fiber. MTN, Zain, and Glo, all have national fiber networks for backhaul. Also, you have long distance carriers like Phase 3 networks, Gateway, Suburban, and some other fringe players, who provide site backhaul and long distance traffic haul via a variety of media, from fiber to VSAT and/or microwave.
pls explain more on long distance carriers like Phase 3 networks, Gateway, Suburban, and some other fringe players,
AjanleKoko:
However, for Internet access, the SAT3 is still controlled by NITEL, which is part of why it is usually more down than up. Many operators rely on SAT3 for Internet provision, not only the traditional players, but even the new ISPs like IPNX and Swift. However, this might change next year with all these cables landing all over the place, like Main One, Glo One, and all the other 'ones'.
pls i will like to know more about the alternative carriers available in nig and their operators.
