this is a professional exam which is written at certain period of the year and not every time. well, if you attend lectures/tutorial class which clashes with your work, just set it off. makes private arrangement with some of lecturer and fixed the lecture period to your own spare time |
you are got me wrong. surely, you must have your cert. before you are even considered for interview at first. the man you know only comes in when the job is highly competitive and the pay package very promising. i am not saying that this is always the case as some organization are very strict and do not follow the Nigerian factor. for example 1) the nigerian defence acedemy (NDA) admits only maximum of 6 cadets: 2 for army , 2 for navy, and 2 for the air force. your o'level and entrance exams are paramount for your call up to the interview, so that even if you are the son of the president, you will not be called. during the interview, not less than 40 prospective cadets will then applied for the 6 vacant post. this is where who you knows comes in: a general, senator, etc all fending for their own candidates are chosen. anyway, some few individuals who are nobody still finds their way in. 2) the daughter of the former NNPC chairman in person of Kupolokun sat for the NNPC job interview. She failed both the oral and the written exam, but the interviewer still gaveher the job because of the fear of oga. 3) there is a job i applied for recently. the application which was to be filled online. but to our greatest surprise, the portal of the site was closed the 2nd day after the registration started. it took almost a riot style complaint before the mgt put up the site again. |
many are ill prepared. passing neco or waec does not guarantee you are prepared for jamb. their questions are more logical than waec/neco which are more straight forward. student ought to practice past questions very well and know the technique which they used in setting their questions. |

Computers have undergone many revolutions since the creation of pc's. but it should interest every one that the ideal computer as just arrived in person of ipad computers: torch screen, nice interface (mimic of iPhones), wireless keyboard/ mouse, double as an ipod, doubles as a monitor, blue tooth, WIfi, just name it. Microsoft will surely loose a lot of its market scope to this new gadget. |
nice post |
Krrush:what a professor indeed. we are a country who do not cherish what we have. same goes to people like chike obi, chinue achiebe, wole shoyinka, philip onyegwuali and sam okoye |
despite advances made in medical sciences and technology, why do we still have high rates of infection/epidemic in our society. i believed that by now, all common forms of diseases should have been wiped out by now. why then are we spendind millions of tax payers money on health if these health technologies are not impacted to the common man on the street. |

i think 40 years will be a better age to start learning or even higher. by then, we will have better languages to learn. in the world of computing, there are improvements on hardware and software on a daily basis. so the later you join, the better package you are using. |

it is very wrong for SSS to search the office of the commander in chief of a country. mr good luck is not the president and is only acting for the president. Mr yaradua should be grateful to Mr jonathan for carrying out his task while he was away. i do not see anything that should cause quarrel. yaradua should only write the national assembly that i am back and continue as president. chike. |
there are a lot of skilled personnel in electronics and many other engineering fields, the problem is how to cola rates the theoretical knowledge with the practical. when i was younger and aspiring to be more grounded in electronics, i was marveled by the extent of practical skills exhibited by these road side repairers. many of these people have not even heard about ohms law not to mention the more difficult topics. but the way they handle soldering, trouble shoot and repair electronic gadgets makes me feel so amateurish in nature. i had then been an apostle of symbiosis, exchange of theoretical knowledge for practical knowledge. many of our newly recruited/matriculated engineers thus not have the fundamental principle/knowledge of these electronics/other engineering process. thus, when they are confronted with advanced equation which explain the properties of these systems, they become mesmerize. i think subjects such as basic electronics, applied electricity, technical drawing e.t.c should be enforced at ordinary level for prospective engineers. |
well, the war has come and gone. talking about war, you should expect all forms of atrocity; women been raped, innocent citizens been killed e.t.c. the even though many atrocities were committed against the biafrans, they also committed their own atrocity e.g they launched the first attack of the war by a air raid on Lagos. during this raid, the casino cinema at sabo yaba was bombed killing thousands of innocent civilian citizens who had gone to watch movie there. my grand mother and my mom who lived within the vicinity said they taught the world had come to an end. however, what i really hated was the massive killing of the ibos who came out of their hidings after the war had officially been declared over. joe garba, during is testimony at the oputa panel reported that close to about 2 million igbos were killed during this period. the best way to avoid the reincarnation of all these wild wild west is to prevent war as much as possible. we cannot have a war without innocent bloodshed and atrocities against mankind. |
AjanleKoko:sure. this is because it is easier to carry your phones around and call/receive call (+ other applications) anywhere you are. but the wireline have their own advantages when broadband capacity is required. this is useful when it comes to surfing the internet, broadband/internet television as we have in advanced countries just to mention a few. each types of communication will settle to its own equilibrium as price /time continues. a wireline whose backbone is fiber optics is far more advantageous in capacity but the prices are still ridiculously high. as with the network providers, a wireline linking their different mast and base station makes a lot of sense for a more efficient services since the bandwidth offered is greater than those by wireless. however, this will only make sense in an urban populated area so that the investors can recouple their investment in good time. for rural/less populated areas, wireless link makes better sense. in Nigeria and many developing countries, many of these operators began all fully wireless so as to cover as many areas as possible with the limited funds they have. it is only of recent they are now laying the cables to handle the traffic which seems to be overwhelming the wireless. |

sole niger-delta problem once and for all before oga returns. after this period, i dont want to hear any form of militancy because their son of the soil has sat and still sitting on the hot sit. so nobody is maginalising you now. the power is in your hand. |
jobs or no job, if you are opportune to go, do not hesitate(unless the money are rolling here for you ). at least if you do not get it rigth your children who are born there are automatic citizens and have a better chance than maybe back home. they may even come home and get the big jobs here. |
elbat:such, when i 1st learnt of the internet, this was one of the great ideas that sprung my mind. an opportunity to be part the living science (that is to be actively involve in research, discoveries designs etc (or even an observer) anywhere they are happening in the world). but the best bet i had so far was the prize that was awarded to some online competition organized for computer engineering students in america to design a microprocessor from the scratch. this i saw in my early days as a surfer on the internet i cannot get such web addresses again. i believe if we alert one another on such development and share such website on discussion forum like nairaland, the better it is for all practicing professionals in this country. we could even form say a yahoo group or facebook group group account dedicated only for these purposes and notting else. |
materials are downloaded, read and digest . no exams, no cert. just read and digest. Is this not the aims of education, understanding things. then why must i then go to school? |
