i think things will improve with time. many telecoms comp are laying optic fibre here and there. i was in Ondo recently and was amazed by the level of work going on their optic fiber laying going on everywhere. well, for major and populated cities like Lagos, i think the inter connectivity channels are not adequate enough. terminals at every street ougth to be linked by optic fiber. this is the only way out of these mess

or say a 2.1 4th year student in mech eng who went 4 an it interview, but cannot explain what conduction, convention and radiation means

what do you people have to say about someone who just graduated, but can not read a pry 2 Eng textbook

@ all in the house
How good is the montessouri teaching method for kids? I have a three year old precious princess and i want the very best for her.

BEST, BET, get a private teacher for her.

as with dc wiring, almost all our electronics/ electrical appliances are ac with few having dc input, that means you will need a lot of inverter

Pharyn:
I want to build a career in it. I am highly passionate about the use of DC in house wiring.

How can I enter into the elect/elect engineering profession?
Thanks

well, starting afresh might not be something that easy, since i believe you are now a grown up man with responsibility and probably a job with a reputable pharmaceutical organization whose commitment to your duty might not give you the chance to attend classes as regular student. of course think of the stress of going to buy jamb form, sitting for the exam and attending lectures for up to 5 years and offering say up to 100 courses.
i doubt if any university in the country at present offers any engineering courses on part time level.
well, polytechnic are another alternative for you to climb up the ladder. many university offers part time courses in many aspect of engineering. if you need their list with more details i can give them to you on a private placement.
if your time is really that precious, you can give city and guilds a trier. i have city and guilds certificate myself and it has an equivalent of OND and HND respectively pendind on the stage of the examinatin you have. the exam is taken twice a year in ( something relative to gce in weac or ican exams) you prepare yourself and seat for all the conmponents of the examination. if you need more details, you can mail me and i will give them to you.

Pharyn:
Hi Ajanlekoko.
I'm a Pharmacist. Somewhere in th middle of my study in school (penultimate year), I suddenly discovered my passion for wires and electronics. Because of the nature of the time of discovery, I can't stop Pharmacy School. I finished very well (3.97 out of 5.00); did my Internship and NYSC (Hospital).
Right now, I want to enter into the electrical/electronic world. Advise me: HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT?
Note: I have a special interest in Renewable energy and Lighting Systems.
Thanks

it depends on what you what you want to do with your electronics, either as an hobby or to make a living from it. but if you need my personal advice, you can mail me so that i can give you a call.

computer archi is one of the most interesting academic activities which interest me now. naturally, i am not passified by the present intel dual core. i am looking forward to the new processor by ibm which has the computing power of present super computers.

the world celebrated the 40th anniversary of the historic Apollo 13th mission this week. this mission was meant to be the third mission to the moon but was aborted when an oxygen tank of the module exploded during their path to the moon. the astronauts could not returned immediately since their rocket had already been fired towards the moon. they had to wait for three days for them to go round the moon and fire back towards the earth. the moon landing part of the mission was aborted. during these three days, they had to cope with the extreme of all conditions. low temp, little supply of oxygen and food. the best mathematicians in the world were flown into NASA to help the astronaut navigate their way round the moon and back to earth.

SEFAGO:
All in all education is a waste of time, and it should be streamlined, and the time spent in school reduced.

moores law states that information doubles every 2 years or so. if that is the case, should that not transformed into allocation of more study time or what?,

beaf has said it all.
law of conservation of energy does not permit such. so you have been watching too much of bank php advert please think twice

@ ajanlekoko

here is an Nigerian prof at Stanford, Kunle Olukotun. A notable name in the computer tech industry, particularly in multiprocessing and web server performance.
