Politics / Re: Kemi Adeosun ‘Poorly Qualified’ To Be Finance Minister – The Economist by lekwas: 5:10am On Nov 21, 2015 |
Abeg e, this economist and their analysis should go to wherever with their ill intentioned analysis. Does it always have to match their speculations? Because Kemi Adeosun is not a World Bank or IMF stooge, she is not qualified. They should tell it to the marines. It is time the Nigerian state and all of Africa define their own development on their own terms. Ciscogod: 1 Like |

This is sad indeed. Any government that cannot take criticism whether direct or indirect is a failed government being run by charlatans. Education should open the mind and reasoning. If young people cannot be given the opportunity to exercise their reasoning using everyday situations how can they be expected to develop? Little wonder our educational system does not promote independent reasoning. It is indeed a shame on the government of Ogun State for taking this decision. |

I disagree with this statement 'it will not be business as usual' as I have had cause to work with some members of the Lagos state civil service and they were punctual owing to their boss does not encourage lateness to meetings. I understand when they have meetings, the doors are shut immediately its time. So if what Ambode is quoted to have said is anything to go by, then it should be from his experience having worked in the same civil service. |

Politics / Re: Buhari’s Inaugural Speech Is Illusory, Vague – Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa by lekwas: 8:15am On May 30, 2015 |
socialmediaman: Leave the clown. He is busy talking climate change and economic down turn, so we can assume he is informed. What the president talked about in his speech were things which even the blind and deaf in Nigeria knows requires urgent attention. I am not given to responding to political comments, but the trend here with some seemingly unhappy people just shows a general myopia. You cannot use media or social media to start an opposition when you are not registered in any political party. Did you see how the men who claim to be opposing themselves hobnob? Everyday Nigerians should look beyond the abracadabra of our politiking and design a roadmap of fruitful engagement with our elected leaders across party divides. I should think party politics ends with campaigning or so I suppose as the President did not say he was president of APC but of Nigeria. |

@ OP, thanks for sharing this as it echoes my most recent sentiments. In the last two weeks I have been bugged with the feeling of entitlement being expressed by young persons some of whom are not necessarily from the rich homes. The almighty 'my children will not go through what I went through' syndrome deluding our children from ages past. I feel its time we call ourselves to order, reevaluate our parenting skills and methods. It is time children are made to understand the true realities of everyday experiences and not the proverbial 'he who is carried on the back, does not know the distance of the journey'. Earlier this month facebook was awash with 'Childhood Memories' a lot of us relished in sharing those memories but do not wish our children should experience them. We are not helping them, little wonder we have too many mummy's 'men about town' and ladies who will 'prepare eba with knorr cube'. 1 Like |

Hi OP, the story you shared is incomplete and will need to be listened to fully (no on NL though). Since you live in Lagos, there are facilities available you can access: 1. Ministry of Women Affairs - Blk 18 Alausa Secretariat 2. Initiative for Sustaining Family Unity- 16 Harvey Rd, Yaba. info@iforsfu.org 3. Project Alert on Violence Against Women- 21 Akinsanya Str off Isheri Rd (by FRSC) Ojodu. projectalert@projectalertnig.org You can go to any of these places to report and they should guide you on appropriate steps to take to avoid further disintegration of the family. Do ensure you give correct information on the issues that led to the separation, was it legal or you just moved out of the home, also be sure to let them know what other remedies you have sought before now. All the best 1 Like |

Travel / Re: 10 Travel Tips For Warri First-timers... by lekwas: 5:53am On May 13, 2015 |
I am pained by this review of Warri. For any one who has never been there, it will sound and feel like an unexplored jungle. Make una forget ds grammer. I be confirmed Warri and dis description is not the the Warri I know. Was born in Odien Street Essi L/out; spent my early childhood in Agbaisi L/out- Marine Quaters Axis; my teenage years in the Deco/ Okumagba Avenue Axis. Later part of my teenage years was spent off Oil field Rd around Enerhen Junction, before moving finally to Sokoh Estate Road off Airport Rd. Even though I have not lived in Warri for some years now, (was there in December, cos I have family and friends) Warri still hold a special place in my heart. This narrative on Warri is more of a disservice. I agree that Warri has become a shadow of itself due to the self serving interests of recent governments, but I strongly believe that that city is the one TRUE metropolitan city in Nigeria. It does not matter what part on Nigeria or the world you come from, Warri was home to all. All the 'Old Warri' and Wafarians on this platform, this might be a good time to share interesting facts about the city of our birth or even sojourn. Let's send a strong message to all those giving Warri a bad name for economic reasons. The days of restiveness are gone. Uvwie and Ekpan youths 'deve' era is not as prominent; Ibori's dusk to dawn curfew is over with. All the scary things that came with the prominence of Shell also gone as there is no more Shell-Edjeba. Let's all stand up for Warri, let's stop those DBS and DRTv people from showing so so obito on Tv. This is the time for enlightenment and these comedians should either portray a good image of Warri or get discredited. My one pence worth #IRepWaffi |

Business / Re: Xenophobia: MTN Nigeria Warns Of 6,000 Job Losses by lekwas: 1:49am On Apr 21, 2015 |
MTN Nigeria has no right to issue threats of job loss to Nigerians. Before the advent of MTn were Nigerians not working? By the way, of the 6,000 in reference how many are full staff and paid well? I understand their returns are mad straight to SA so as their monies do not stay in a Nigerian bank for upto 24hrs. They should be more interested in impressing it on their home country to stop this evil rather than threatning Nigerians. I am not and will never subscribe to any form of reprisal. A decent boycott of their services will surely impact their income. 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: Nigerian Women Are Bad Drivers!!! by lekwas: 1:39am On Apr 21, 2015 |
This is pure and simple stereotype. Nigerians are quite impatient on the highway without regards for other road users. Driving like a shina rambo doesn't make you an expert or better road user. Simple road curtesies if internalised will go along way to reduce most of what the op stated. 4 Likes 1 Share |
Celebrities / Re: Igbo Leaders A Disgrace – Etcetera by lekwas: 3:06pm On Apr 18, 2015 |
Hmmmn, don't know this guy but seem to agree with him. Its time Ndigbo come together and redefine their prospects in this current arrangement called Nigeria. With the present form in which Ndigbo are organised, I doubt if given the Biafra state they so much crave, if they will make good of it. There is the need for the Igbos to play down on the individualistic tendencies that has driven them to greed and avarice. There is a clear need to chat a holistic and people centered ideology that will drive the future Igbo engagement with the Nigerian state. Deepen the natural giftedness and resilience that once defined the group instead of seeking for short cuts that lead the group to making wrong judgement calls. The Igbo need true leadership hinged on puritan nationalist ideology. |
