Nlers, how una see this letter?

OPEN LETTER TO Richard Mofe Damijo by Mc Olokpa ( Oga You failed us)

Dear sir

It’s with pains in my heart and with disappointment that I decided to write you this letter.

Our hopes were high when you were brought into the Uduaghan government as Special Adviser on entertainment and Talent development and later commissioner for culture and Tourism about 7years ago.

Entertainers in Delta were happy that a veteran has come back home and also in a better position to reposition entertainment in Delta state.

Because even before coming into government, you have being trying all by yourself to develop entertainment which gave birth to MADE IN WARRI. It was a proud platform for Warri entertainers coming together to showcase themselves.

It became one of the most anticipate show then in the country because that’s where you get the real warri comedians. I remember the out going governor do attend even before he became the Governor.

And so, you can see where am coming from with this my Open letter.

You happens to be one of the most respected Nollywood actor in the country and beyond. The mention of your name makes the ladies go gaga with the way you play romantic roles on movie set.

And so, so much was expected from you as a commissioner.

Sir, before I go further, please ask yourself, did you meet up that expectation? Can you boost of any achievement all through your tenure?

Sir while you answer these questions, let me continue…

The first project you embarked on was DELTA TALENT QUEST (DTQ).

The aim was to discover talents in Delta state and promote them and so entertainers came out in their numbers.

A special house was built in Asaba specially for this project just to mention how serious you took that project.

The project was broken into Comedy, Music, dance and movie.

I participated in the Comedy Audition but was not among the finally 20 comedians they picked but my close friend Koliko qualify.

That competition made even Comedian I go laugh to go and buy his car because he felt he was being insulted by one of the officials.

I still remember how almost all the comedians in Delta state came out to slog it out with themselves and be the lucky winner of a brand new car, 1million and other benefits.

I qualified for the second round but lost out in the final selection but my close friend Koliko make the last 10 into the house.

That competition alone brought lots of comedians together, friendship were built from that day. I still remember Razor, Woko, Aboki, Young chief, akuji, Apostle Handsome Boy among others.

I was also privilege to attend the finals where my friend Koliko came second with a cash gift of 500k and only that competition changed his life up till today.

The talented young man that use to put on old clothes suddenly became a SHINE SHINE BOBO, a young man with not even 5k in his account suddenly saw 500k in his account..

it was not much of a surprise when he started buy shoes, chain, suite and every other thing to look packaged.

And so you can see what that project you initiate brought to us as entertainers in Delta state. In fact some of us started waiting eagerly for the next edition. I MUST WIN THE NEXT EDITION mentality came into most of us.

But after all the maiden Edition of comedy, Music, dance and movie edition was done, it became that last time DTQ was ever mentioned.

No explanation was given as to why the project was stopped but a Top comedian recently during a chat said about 300million is still being budgeted for that every year and part of it is now being use to finance One of the BIGGEST CONCERT IN WARRI. But it still remains an allegation sha but you can’t ignore every allegations these days most especially in Government.

Now sir, the tenure of our governor is coming to her end in few months and am trying to fish out your achievements but have not being able to.

First, the DTQ project did not achieve its aim as was planned from the beginning. Let me explain a bit sir.

ll the winner are all hustling on their own to make ends meet which ordinary wouldn’t have been so if you did some follow up after giving them cash.

the winner of the comedy edition, I hear he now sells bread in Sapele and no longer doing comedy except once in a while.

The 1st runner up Koliko: The young man have grown to be one of the most sorted after comedian in WARRI but not NIGERIA which would have being possible if you did some follow up. What is Koliko Market value compare to his pair in Lagos with even lesser value?

Sir a well packaged, not too funny comedian in Lagos collect 50k to 200k per wedding but give all your winner of DTQ 20 to 30k for a wedding, they will not only crack jokes, they will also dance till the end of the marriage.

The difference between Lagos and Delta is packaging and media exposure and I will come to that later.

What about 2nd runner up Young Chief: the young man have being hustling to make a name for himself. All these things would have being much easily if you had plan for them after winning. The project gave them fish and not how to catch fish.

What about Ejiro that won the singing category? The golden voice is what I call her. Her voice can bring peace to a trouble nation. She is an all ready made material that just needed to be introduce to the world.

But sir the last time I heard from her was running a live Band. Imagine how Tiwa Savage, Omawumi would have end up as live band artist. sir, should I say another wasted talent?

I don’t even know of those that won Dance and Movie categories but I also think they ended up somehow doing other things.

The only people that still benefit a bit are Koliko and young chief who you something invite once or twice to asaba to perform. And the worst part is that when you pay comedians coming from Lagos atleast 500K, they pay our DTQ winners 50k and someone still cut the money before it gets to them.

So you see if there were other words I can use other than disappointment about your tenure I will definitely use it.

Sir you have being in this industry to know how things works but you just sat down, collected your salaries, bonuses plus all the CORNER MARKINGS ( only warri boys go understand ) and www.thatsall while we are still where we are.

There are certain things I know you could have done and I don’t know why you didn’t do them.

First, you became popular in Nollywood because of the media. We watched your movies and watched you on Tv and that’s how your fan base increased.

Now you coming back from Nollywood to become commissioner of Culture and Tourism should know that to promote people’s Culture is through the media and then people start coming to see what they have being seeing on TV, internet and any other plateform.

Culture and Tourism working hand in hand sir but you neglected these things.

Sir you didn’t even bother to asked why there is no other Television in Delta State other than DBS and DRTV that most Deltans don’t want to talk about because they feel if you want to know about Burials, that the station you should be looking.

But do you blame them, is it true or false that the content DRTV have more are Obituaries advert?

Why are we even having only DRTV in Delta state? Why no silver bird or other Private own tv stations just as we have in Edo, Port-harcourt etc. Its an open secret that government are preventing them so that they won’t over shadow DRTV.

Ok, if that is the case, why don’t Government upgrade DRTV to international standard? Don’t tell me we are too poor not to afford it because we all know that billions flow into the state every month apart from Tax. So don’t go there.

It show there is something you are not telling us. *SUSPICIOUS*

Secondly, I saw on the papers with the headline ‘RMD PLANS RETURN TO NOLLYWOOD’ and am like which of the nollywood again na. Sir you know you are Nollywood and Nollywood is you.

You had a perfect chance of turning our Movie industry DOLLYWOOD here in delta state in something great but you ignored it sir. You know we have great talent and potentials here waiting to be tap but nothing was done.

Sir it was under your Tenure that Movie producers starting coming to Asaba to shoot movies and even up till now. Asaba is now the best location right now. Some actors and actresses have temporarily or permanently relocated to Asaba.

But we have not being able to tap into that area. This is a new opportunity to partner with these people in other to expose our up and coming act.

To make them stay, Government would have build a film village in Delta state. Sir, Udu L.G.A where you come from have enough land to do and that would have being a major achievement for you and the government.

Udu people would have being grateful for that. That would have fit into the much talked about DELTA STATE BEYOND OIL but you blew off that chance.

All through your time in office, you could not initiate any Carnival Celebration.

Just like we have the Calabar Carnival, A Warri Carnival would have make sense. That would have changed the face of Warri for ever. Oh, I guess you forgot. if different streets in Warri can host peaceful Carnival at night with fun fair, then Delta State Government could have done better.

I was watch your interview on Channels recently in TRAVEL GUILD. You were talking about Delta State Tourist Potential and Location but in reality there is no tourist Center here.

Like in Calabar, We have TINAPA, OBUDU CATTLE RANCHE among other Tourist Destination put together by Government.

As far as OBUDU CATTLE RANCHE people still travel from different part of the country just to relax. President Goodluck Jonathan at a point went there to relax.

Sir can you point anywhere in Delta State you can go and relax? Not to talk about the Governor. Its a shame that 7years after.

The Delta Leisure and Mandela Garden you spoke about are just on paper and you won’t be around to see it come to reality because after your tenure you will going back to Nollywood.

If you want to enjoy, you can travel round the world enjoying Tourist site but no one in your state.

Sir I was watching the C.D of WARRI AGAIN concert and I saw you laughing and enjoying yourself seriously. But sir, why don’t you pause and think for once why there are not much Warri comedians performing?

Have you bothered to ask why they only provide two slot out of over 400 based warri comedians?

Is it that the warri base comedians are not funny enough or they can’t make people laugh?

Are the organizers having personal issues with WARRI COMEDIANS?

Sir, these are question we think you should be asking your friend AMAJU.

Sir what happened to MADE IN WARRI concert you started before coming to government? Only you can answer that shall.

Sir its been a lengthy letter and I hope you read it very well like a block buster movie script.

I will like to end my letter here but I won’t stop until I let you know that of a truth, you FALL OUR HAND.

It is the combination of all these things that most Deltan are saying UDUAGHAN did not perform but they fail to pick out those commissioners that made it a failed government.

I, like Most Delta Entertainers have moved on hoping that the incoming government will look at our direction and do the right thing.

WARRI is the home of entertainment and should be treated as one.

Its a pity I come from a country where if you dare speak the truth, you are label as a REBEL but we owe it as a duty to speak out so that people should start doing the right thing. Even as we share the National cake, we should remember the Cake is for everybody.

Sir if you think all what have said is just my own personal opinion, send some neutral persons into the street, you will be shocked with the kind of feed back you will get.

Sir in Shun Bebe voice, someone asked me, Who RMD help? i nor go lie i couldn’t answer him

The End.

I am worried sore for the safety of the kids. Pls let's all drop this blame game for another day and help in which ever way possible to get this kids back, safe and alive. #FindTheOrekoyaKidsSafeAndAlive.

On the modalities for hiring a maid online or even any unknown person at all, I share the sentiments of most or the writers here.

Who hires a maid online in Africa (except probably in Southern Africa)?

Who leaves kids who cannot express themselves with total strangers in the season of do or die, RITUAL Driven electioneering campaigns?

Who hires a 23yr old maid without prior knowledge of where She/he hails from? Who puts up notice requesting for donation to help rescue kids from kidnappers?

Are we not giving the kidnappers extra information to commit more heinous crimes?

Where is the police in all these?

Where are the network service providers in all these?

As for OLX, why blame them? The maid did not put advert, the family did. OLX does not know who accessed the information placed on their site.

We are talking about children here, let's help find the kids and then we visit all the matters arising from this our adopted 'oyinbo' lifestyles.

Dear NLers, I need all the advise I can get as I am prospecting for a used car. I want a Corolla of the 2004 - 2008 models, but was shown a Nigerian used CRV 2004 which seems to be in good condition at a reasonably fair rate.
I am a first time buyer and need to know about the CRV brand as compared with the corolla sedan models. I do not have 'plenty' of money for this venture and trust NLers to provide me with simple guides to assist me in making the best decision with the little money I have.
I will appreciate all meaningful response as I want to go car inspecting this morning.

Thanks all.

Where these are not possible, where can I get a universal modem to buy in Lagos and how much does it cost?
Politics / Is Buhari The Tender Shoot From The Side Of The North? by lekwas: 4:14pm On Mar 30, 2011
In 1998, precisely on the 14th of June Pastor Bakare preached a message where he said the person that will rule Nigeria after the Abdusalam led transition government will be a Cyrus with the heart of David, a tender shoot from the side of the North. I don't know if anybody on this forum listened to that message and if we can get the full text of that message on this thread.
I had cause to review the thought of that message in the last few days and seeing that Pastor Bakare is Buhari's running mate, the question that came to my hear is: Is Buhari that tender shoot from the side of the north?'

This is the closest excerpt i got from that message:

Following General Abubakar's appointment as the Head of State after the death of General Abacha, Pastor. Bakare declared to the nation. Thus saith the Lord; "Abubakar is Saul". According to him, " if General Abubakar will yield to God and serve according to the will of God, he will become the midwife who will be instrument to the birth of David. Through him, a new nation will emerge. But if he has the fear of death and continues as he has said with programme of General Abacha, he will fall with his Armour bearers".

It will be good if we can go back in time to listen to that message and review it for this season.
Politics / Re: Lagos State Governorship Debate On Stv by lekwas: 2:44pm On Mar 29, 2011
@ metrixauto, I don't think you watched the deputy governors debate, if you did you will not agree any less with the SAN that those women were most uninspiring. For me I would have been thoroughly disappointed if no one of them raised the question of whether the deputies were fit for the position of Governor.

That said, the lesson is for our women to polish up their acts, it is not enough to demand for 35% affirmative action when the women who get picked to fill those positions are nothing but charlatans and mere rubber stamp at best to mislead Nigerians into thinking that there is gender balance in government. For a medical doctor to be chosen by her party simply on the grounds of being a medical doctor shows the importance placed on the position they are vying for.
Politics / Re: Lagos State Governorship Debate On Stv by lekwas: 10:13am On Mar 29, 2011
Guys, that was debate to watch. I had no iota of doubt that Fashola would outshine the others given the quality of their deputy governor aspirants.

My best moment was when the woman SAN asked them the criteria on which they chose their deputies and also in the event that they are to be replaced for whatever constitutional reason if 'those women' were fit to be governors in their stead? I felt sorry for Fashola as it was clear that that was the Achilles hill of his second coming. Though it was clearly evident from the debate last week that those women were not just 'uninspiring' they were simply unintelligent. I wish he could actually do something in that area.

As for the others, dem no get anything to sell, buy or to offer.
Again I observed that BRF was very clear in making us understand that he was only accountable for the things that happened in the last 4 years without answering questions that will take him to preceding administration, that for me is worthy of note, we can judge him purely on merit.

As for Agbakoba, I will not blame his visible irritability at the responses from the other candidates, Lagos has progressed beyond what they had to offer, if they are representing states like, Kogi, Ebonyi, Taraba, Jigawa and the likes one can question his reactions, but coming from Lagos i am sorry if I was in that panel I would have walked out on them because their actions and responses were too pedestrian for the advanced level of the Lagos politics

All the same, I think I liked what I saw, that is what I will call a debate, (tackling your opponents from the points of his/her weakness) GEJ/PDP learn from this and don't shy away from debates.
Politics / Re: Who Is Watching The Lagos Deputy Governorship Debate On Stv by lekwas: 3:44pm On Mar 25, 2011
@ enyojo, kudos. That was a fair analysis.
I saw the debate, was disappointed at the candidates fielded, 'cos i thought they should have better people in their parties. I used to think Adefulire was not 'as' intelligent, but she beat me to it with the amount of information she had at her finger tips, she seemed better equipped than the others if we are to judge by their performances. I quite agree with her on a lot of issues she raised, i can testify to her activities as commissioner of women affairs and poverty alleviation, just did not believe she was this articulate or so it seemed.

for the PDP and NCP reps, they were truly blinded by party politics and thus jeopardized their opportunity to sell their party agendas. if only they answered the questions that were put to them straight without trying to cast aspersions on the incumbent, Lagosians would have had a choice, they rather told us the obvious without giving us a better alternative.

Well for the ANPP woman she did well, i would not agree any less with early comments on her unbiased position and ability to draw a line between reality and political obsession. Who knows, that may earn her a portfolio in the new dispensation.

generally to all Nigerians, this is time to ask the right questions and demand for the right answers, there will be no need crying over spilled milk. Lets vote right.

@ ruba Slipa: Sorry, the date was wrong- The correct date is Wednesday October 13 2010.  That done, without meaning to engage in any form of bantering with you, I think you are one of the irrational few on NL who only seat down, amuse yourself by picking holes in other peoples commentaries. Whether they be 'cradle robbers', 'rapists' or downright perverts, they should be exposed and dealt with. How do you see a situation where the laws of 'the of the land' do not guarantee the safety and security of her citizens? If people decide to take the laws into their hands, in order to make a point, will that mean I am a hypocrite? I was thought that change could either be gradual or drastic. Either way, there is change. If that will make the responsible authorities take action when these cases are reported then something has been achieved. I'd rather a few depraved minds be used as scape goats in order to achieve change for the general good.

To further enlighten you, any sexual activity that does not conform to what is generally believed and accepted as normal is a perversion. The boys in question are children and have been lured, cajoled or hypnotized by the abuser, so I do not get what you mean by you first commentary. That these perverts are everywhere and do these things everyday does not make it right.

The question here is not who is involved is the act in itself, it does not have to be a woman or girl, the fact that a child who did not consent willingly (off cause children can not consent under any circumsatance) is involved makes it a worthy cause to focus on.

I am sure the rally will go well and I will surely report back to this forum on the outcomes and more. If you are in Lagos, and you are not ‘GAY’ or fall into any of the categories of abusers mentioned above, find time to be a part of the rally. (This is a special invitation to ruba slipa)

It is good to know that Nigerians and Lagosians are ready to take the battle against pedophiles, child sexual abusers and all sexual pervert to the next level. This is not to encourage mob actions, but if a few of that will spark up the necessary political will to address this issues head on then we are on the path to change. I know that change does not just happen, people can make change happen, let us be that change. There is a Rally/Walk Against Pedophiles and Child Sexual Abusers in Lagos State. Date: Wednesday 13, September 2010 from Allen Round About to Alausa. Let your voice be heard, and take some time out to speak up for our children.

People, i dont know how many of us are observing the rate at which spousal murder, abuse of teenage and under aged girls by close relatives (in some instances fathers) have increased? A very recent case in point was one i read in the National Life Paper sometime last month of a teenage girl who the father has been sexually abusing since she was 14. The mother was aware but pretended. Since then I have observed with dismay the reported cases of several other young girls who have been violently abused either by known or unknown persons.
Please I want to use this medium to appeal to Nairalanders to join in this non aggressive campaign to end all forms of violence against women and young girls.

Na wa for all of una wey dey emphasise on virginity. Can you recall how many times you have made an innocent girl loose her virginity by telling her it is old fashioned and that a man needs a woman who knows what it means to satisfy a man? We just come on this forum and try to sound idealistic. Its just unfortunate how unrealistic we could be sometimes. What about making the woman feel like she is being too 'strong willed', in control and probably too articulate simply because she insists on 'no sex' before marriage? Well my own on this is follow your mind, what is good today may become bad tomorow. Just pray you find a stable woman who will not change like shifting shadows. If you find her time will tell if she makes a good wife or not. All the best to all you who are still searching.

Guys i do not understand why anybody should fight over this topic. Its all about our individual opinions and it does not have to use foul languages. now to the topic; Nollywood stars are just like everyone of us. for those of us seating in as judges on this topic if we have the privilege of being video recorded at an event we may not sleep for nights, talking more of being on air for a 15 minutes talkshow. think of this stars who spend the most of their time on set, in front of cameras and lights, it may affect the way they perceive the world around them and also give them a bloated ego of who they really are. but that's to say the least, they are just humans, some are our friends, neighbours or even enemies.
but i have met some who are really cool. talk of Stella damasus-Nzeribe, Kate henshaw-Nuttal, Foluke Daramola. for the men, i cant really say, you know this Male thing.
but i think, some of our actors and actresses are trying, they may not be world class yet, but they will get there
