After the controversial ending of HBO’s hit drama series Game of Thrones and the announcement of the spin off show House of Dragons, fans of the Westerosi universe have been on the edge of their seats waiting for premiere of the new show.

With several stills to numb on from the most anticipated series and with the premier date drawing closer each day, early review from critics who have seen the first six episodes of the show’s first season finally make it to the press, and they’re nothing short of great.

House of Dragons is the first show to arrive post-GOT and is set two centuries before the birth of Deanerys Targeryn and the events of the Game of Thrones drama. It tells the story of the ensuing conflict between King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and his junior brother Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) after Viserys appoints his first born daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) the heir to the Iron throne.

The trailer for Blood and Psalms, Showmax’ “biggest and most ambitious African drama series” has been released. Blood and Psalms is an upcoming fantasy drama series from creators Layla Swart and Jahmil X.T Qubeka (Yellow Stone) in conjunction with Canal+. It is expected to debut to subscribers of the Showmax streaming service on 28th of September; ahead of its anticipated of that launch, the show recently dropped its first official trailer.

Renowned Nigerian Hip Hop/Rap kingpin M.I Abaga has released his highly anticipated fifth studio album entitled The Guy. The highly collaborative album consists of 12 songs, spanning a total of 40 minutes.

Nigerian genius musician and singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known by his stage name Rema, keeps proving himself to be one of the next hallowed superstars.

Nigerian superstar Fireboy DML recently released his third studio album to much success. The album is debuted on this weeks edition of the Billboard album charts.

Playboy makes it debut at #129 on the Billboard 200 charts (a curated list of the most popular 200 albums by Billboard magazine) for the chart week dated August 20th. The decision to include some international appeal has bore fruits, this comes after the album sold 9K in the US which earned Fireboy his debut on the chart.

Playboy also makes a debuted at #4 on Billboard World Album Chart which is Fireboy’s highest charting project on the chart.

Fireboy will be hoping to build on this achievement and continue to climb up the charts in the coming weeks.

Netflix’s premier African reality show ‘Young Famous & African’ has been given the green light for a second season by the streaming service.

The show’s co-creator Peace Hyde shared the news confirming the shows renewal on her Instagram;

“The Love for ‘YOUNG, FAMOUS & AFRICAN’ Africa’s first @Netflix unscripted original series has been incredible! Thank you to each and everyone of you all for the love and support. Well it’s official! Season 2 of #YOUNGFAMOUSANDAFRICAN is coming!”

Young Famous & African’s seven-episode first season was received positively by subscribers of the streaming service with many tuning in to get a peek into the private lives of some of African’s A-list entertainers.

Set in Johannesburg South Africa, the show features the likes of Khanyi Mbau, 2Baba, Annie Macauly-Idibia, Diamond Platinumz, Zari Hassan amongst others.

There is no announcement for the release date of the second season as of now.

Nigerian music legend, 2face Idibia aka 2baba has debunked the rumours making rounds that he has impregnated another woman.

In a statement released by his manager, Efe Omorogbe, the music star stated that the rumours are false.

2BABA: PREGNANCY REPORT IS FAKE NEWS. It is understandable for fans, friends and concerned members of public to get curious and seek to know why @official2baba posted an apology to his wife, @annieidibia1, family and management a few days ago,” part of the statement read.

We would like to put it on record that the “why” is exactly what was explicitly spelt out in the same post – the pressure of almost a quarter of a century of superstardom and a wish to focus on making music without the burden of high expectations of a role model.”

The music star’s management advised the public to disregard all of the gossip.

“Reports of him getting anyone pregnant are totally false and malicious and we urge well-meaning media platforms and members of the public to completely disregard such. It is fake news,” it appealed.

Many would recall that this fictitious banker character has been repeatedly getting e-pregnant for @official2baba every two or three years since 2014. There is no iota of truth in this allegation. – Now Muzik.”

This is coming few days after 2baba shared a lengthy post on his Instagram page where he tendered a public apology to his wife, Annie Idibia, for hurting her.



The music star also apologised to his kids, family and management for being an embarrassment to them.

Nigerian music superstar Kizz Daniel held a press conference on Wednesday, August 10 to demystify the circumstances surrounding his recent arrest by Tanzanian police.

As we reported earlier, the singer is on a mini-tour of East Africa and was billed to perform in front of a 3K Tanzanian audience on Sunday, August 7 but failed to turn up, hence the arrest on Monday, August 8.

Following his release from custody on Tuesday, Kizz Daniel apologised to the fans during the press conference. According to the Buga singer, the mishap began when his luggage was forgotten in Kenya by the travel agency responsible for conveying him to Tanzania.



He shared that all efforts to address the situation failed and that he communicated the situation to the show organizers. Daniel apologized for his absence and what seemed like a neglect and disdain for the fans.

To compensate them, Kizz revealed that he will be performing free of charge Friday, 12th August 2022.

Serena Williams, in her latest Vogue magazine feature, has revealed that she’s now ready to retire from the game of Tennis.

“I have never liked the word retirement,” says Williams, admitting that the decision is as difficult for her as is the rest of the world.

Going on to reveal the reason for her impending retirement, Serena said:

“Olympia says this a lot, even when she knows I’m listening. Sometimes before bed, she prays to Jehovah to bring her a baby sister. (She doesn’t want anything to do with a boy!) I’m the youngest of five sisters myself, and my sisters are my heroes, so this has felt like a moment I need to listen very carefully to.

“Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017. But I’m turning 41 this month, and something’s got to give.”

“I have never liked the word retirement. It doesn’t feel like a modern word to me. I’ve been thinking of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something very specific and important to a community of people. The only person I’ve really gone there with is my therapist! One thing I’m not going to do is sugarcoat this. I know that a lot of people are excited about and look forward to retiring, and I really wish I felt that way.”

About her early days in Tennis, Serena Williams said:
“If you watched King Richard, then you know that when I was little, I was not very good at tennis. I was so sad when I didn’t get all the early opportunities that Venus got, but that helped me. It made me work harder, turning me into a savage fighter.”

The Williams family (Serena, Venus, father Williams, mother Oracene, and other sisters) were the focus of the Academy Award-winning movie King Richard. According to multiple reports, Kizz Daniel has been freed from the custody of Ugandan law enforcers after allegedly being brought in for failing to honour the terms of a planned concert agreement.

We had earlier reported that Daniel was allegedly arrested for failing to perform in front of a sold out 3000 crowd venue over the weekend. He was reportedly picked up on Monday, August 8.

In a video conference call with media personality Daddy Freeze, show promoter, Steven Ukah revealed that Kizz Daniel, who is on tour of Eastern Africa was paid $60,000 for the performance.

Ukah further shared that the Buga singer refused to perform because his luggage which contains his clothes and jewelry was yet to arrive from his previous itinerary.



The promoter added that Kizz Daniel refused to accept all the clothing offered to him by stylists in Tanzania. Likewise, all pleas that he should perform fell on deaf ears as Kizz insisted he won’t perform without his clothes and jewelry.

Now that Kizz is out of police custody, fans will be hoping to hear his side of the story and the events that led to the Ugandan mishap.

The 24-year-old lawyer received a strike last weekend for physically attacking her co-level two housemate Ilebaye.

In a heated moment of anger, Beauty violently throw off Ilebaye’s cap and wig, cursing out several words at her after the Saturday night party.


In a fresh rift yesterday, the pageant queen threw a fresh jealousy fit over fellow housemate, Groovy dancing with level one housemate, Chomzy.

Sources tell E! News exclusively that the former couple recently broke up after their nine months old relationship, and decided to “just be friends”.

The insiders shared that while the pair have “a lot of love and respect for each other,” they found that the long distance and their demanding schedules “made it really difficult to maintain a relationship.” The split occurred sometime this week.

Davidson has been spending part of the summer in Australia working on a movie. While Kardashian continues to raise four kids North, Psalm, Chicago and Saint, with her ex-husband and rapper, Kanye West.

The socialite begun dating Davidson back in November 2021, months before she filed for divorce from West.

Ghanaian music star Gyakie has released the visuals to her top R&B hit single ‘For My Baby’ which is one of the singles off her follow up EP ‘My Diary’.

Gyakie in this latest outing puts on show another dimension to her personality as she brings the single to life through a painless exciting and pleasing to the eye dance moves with a male vixen.

Collision Course, a 2021 theatrical movie by The Man of God director, Bolanle Austen-Peters is set to debut on Netflix this September.

The movie synopsis inspired by the 2020 EndSARS protest reads:

“Collision Course is a heart-thumping story told in 24 hours about the lives of a law enforcement agent and an aspiring musician. It explores the seedy underbelly of rogue law enforcement officers and the painful and atrocious results of their actions as they collide head-on with the struggling musician and the conflicted member of the police force.”

Talking about the Netflix streaming premiere, director Bolanle Austen-Peters wrote:

“We waited and waited and waited but we always get the best time. After so many awards and festivals, we are finally releasing. This movie means a lot to all of us. It won Best Movie, West Africa for a reason. The actors nailed it and the story is well written by James Amuta.”

Collision Course stars Daniel Etim-Effiong, Bamike ‘Bam Bam’ Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, Kelechi Udegbe, Bimbo Manuel, Chioma Akpotha, Kalu Ikeagwu, Ade Laoye, Kenneth Okolie, and Gregory Ojefua, to mention but a few.

It premieres on Netflix on September 2, 2022.

Fineboy Bella also shared a score board image in the tweet detailing some of his achievements since his breakout in 2020.

Details on the title of said new single wasn’t shared or a timeline for us to expect the album. We as fans are hopeful that the album should come pretty soon.

Fast-rising Afrobeats act Magixx has released the visuals to his single ‘Shaye’. The Mavin signee released the video on Tuesday, 2nd August 2022.

Shaye’ is an Amapiano song with all the catchy elements needed to create a single that appeal to consumers. The visuals follows the feel good content the song offers and Magixx can be seen enjoying some cheap thrills as joins his friends and they embark on a mission of using his song and some liquor to spread happiness.

Ace cinematographer Olu the Wave directed the video in an unspecified location in Lagos, Nigeria.

Shaye’ is off Magixx’s sophomore EP ‘Atom’ which he released 2nd July, 2022. The four-track EP offers listeners a dive into Magixx’s talent.

Tom Cruise is one of the greatest action stars of his generation. With a career spanning almost four decades, Cruise has played characters across almost all genres you can think of; from rom-com to SciFi action, to legal drama, he’s done it all. I’m not going to sugarcoat it; condensing this illustrious career into a Top 5 is difficult, but I’ll do my best to represent some of the best movies of his career in this article.

Without further ado, in no particular order, here are my favourite movies by Tom Cruise:

Top Gun (1986) & Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Top Gun further cemented Tom Cruise’s career after his big break in Risky Business (1983). The movie trails the Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School where the best of the best train to refine their elite flying skills. When hotshot fighter pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise) is sent to the school, his reckless attitude and cocky demeanor put him at odds with the other pilots, especially the cool and collected Iceman (Val Kilmer). But Maverick isn’t only competing to be the top fighter pilot, he’s also fighting for the attention of his beautiful flight instructor, Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis).

36 years later with an unwavering demand for more by fans, Cruise returned to dominate the box office with a long-awaited sequel. Currently, Top Gun: Maverick is the highest-grossing film of 2022. That says a lot about the star-power Tom Cruise still wields.

Rain Man (1988)

Starring opposite Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise plays Charlie, a selfish automobile dealer, who kidnaps his autistic brother Raymond (Hoffman) and tries to manipulate him into giving up his inheritance from their late father.

It’s a soulful and enduring drama that helped expires Cruise’s range as an emotional actor.

A Few Good Men (1992)

It’s almost impossible to make a list of timeless legal dramas without mentioning A Few Good Men. 30 years later, this Tom Cruise-starring drama about a lawyer defending two US Marines charged with murdering a fellow Marine continues to thrill first-timers and loyal (re)watchers.

Mission: Impossible film series (1996 – )

The Mission: Impossible film series is Tom Cruise at his finest and most daring. It’s in a SciFi category of its own and, 26 years since the first movie, shows no sign of slowing down.

Honourable mentions: Minority Report, Collateral, Edge of Tomorrow, Risky Business, American Made, Jack Reacher, Knight and Day, Interview With The Vampire, War of the World, The Color of Money, and Magnolia,.

Jerry Maguire (1996)

Sports agent Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) tries to get back on his feet after being fired from his job. However, the only client he has is Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr.), a disgruntled football player who wants a better contract.

The new Head of House, Hermes has listed five level two housemates for possible eviction after some minutes of consulting with his fellow level one housemates.

Although several names received the most attention from his fellow level one housemates, Hermes went with his guts and nominated Cyph, Phyna, Christy O, Amaka and shockingly, his roommate Khalid.

According to the HOH, the reasons for nominating the five housemates were purely strategic.


At least one of the housemates put up for eviction is expected to leave the house come Sunday.
