Nigerian singing sensation Tems has scored her first Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 debut with her appearance on American rapper Future’s new jam “Wait For U.” The song also features Drake.

“Wait For U” is one of the songs on Future’s latest body of work “I Never Liked You,” and sees the prolific rapper land only his second Number 1 debut, while it earned Drake his tenth. The album also currently occupies the Number 1 spot on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

As for Tems, the singer adds the No. 1 to her growing arsenal of hits. “Wait For You” becomes her second top 10, after Wizkid’s “Essence” landed as No. 9 in the chart during October 2021.
Tems has previously enjoyed a co-sign from Drake on his latest album, “Certified Lover Boy,” which was released late last year.

“Wait For U” actually samples Tems’ Open Mic live performance of her 2021 song “Higher” and has been streamed a total of 40.2 million times, with 7.9 million radio airplay audience impressions and 6,400 downloads sold in the April 29-May 5 tracking week, according to Luminate via Billboard.

The song’s accompanying chivalric-inspired music video was released on May 5 and is currently sitting at No. 3 on YouTube’s trending music page with 6 million views and counting.

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Ifu Ennada is not letting anyone decide on what she chooses to wear publicly.

The reality star took to her Instagram story slamming trolls who made comments about her recent fashion choices.

Making reference to a black sheer see-through dress posted on her Instagram page, the actress warned a particular troll who advised her to wear more clothes to back off.

Ifu advised the follower to block and unfollow her rather than get frustrated over her posts.

The reality Tv star also stated that only broke people with miserable lives troll others.

According to her, rich people are too busy to engage in trolling and writing terrible things about others.

Davido shared a snippet of an unreleased song, a potential collaboration with American pop star Chris Brown, as both were seen dancing to the new tune in a viral video that recently surfaced the internet.

The DMW founder has since been teasing new music, while work continues on his forthcoming fourth studio album.

Davido has worked with Brown a couple of times in the past, firstly on the hit track “Blow My Mind” in 2019 and the more recent “Shopping Spree,” (2020) which also featured American rapper Young Thug.

Both collaborations were from Davido’s second and third studio albums, “A Good Time” and “A Better Time” respectively.

It’s a never ending cycle as more issues keep coming to light between Nigerian entertainer, Korra Obidi and her Los Angeles based husband and chiropractor, Justin Dean.

Recall, the singer recently accused her estranged husband of stealing her 5000 dollars, money she claimed was mistakenly sent to their joint account.

Shortly after, the father of two reacted to the theft allegation, terming it as an “accident”.

I’m a very busy person. I will return the money, okay? It was an accident, a bonafide accident,” he said on his Instagram live video.

He also addressed those that reached out to him on child support for his children, stating that it would be decided in their court proceedings later in August.

Dean announced his decision to divorce Obidi two months ago.

Platnumz and Adekunle Gold duet telepathically on the record, with popular Nigerian director TG Omori recruited for the video.

“Sona” would see the Tanzanian powerhouse release two official videos in little over three weeks, after the premiere of “Wonder” on April 18, also directed by TG Omori.

This time last year, rising Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter Victony was going through what is probably the darkest period of his life, after a ghastly motor accident took the life of his friend Doyin and left him and a couple of his other friends with severe injuries.

He had barely finished revelling in the acclaim and fondness his first project Saturn – EP earned him when the fated incident took place. The album’s intoxicating 6-tracks had announced Victony’s preeminence, and fast-forward a few months after the accident, his collaboration with DMW star Mayorkun became one of the most played songs on Nigerian radio. Mayorkun may possess proprietary claim to “Holy Father,” but it was Vicotny’s hook and vocals that made it an earworm.

“If I had died in that accident, life would’ve gone on, and everybody would’ve forgotten about me,” Victony tells Apple Music, following the release of his latest body of work “Outlaw-EP.”

“My music would live on—but life goes on, right? He continued.

The irony of life means no one can have it any other way. The world cannot pause for anyone, so why not own precious time?

Wasting no time to express the darkness within his heart “Outlaw-EP” opens with the eponymous Ktizo produced “Outlaw,” highlighting his acceptation for being a self-imposed outlaw. Nothing incriminating, just his unconventional style and journey to superstardom.

“Saturn-EP” had been deeply suggestive of a turbulent mind masking behind a sweet voice, with lines, rhymes, and metaphorical expressions reminiscent of rappers. But only alpha Outlaws (Outlaw is another name for Victony fans) will know prior to now, that Victony was originally a rapper, citing American legends Drake and Kendrick Lamar as major influences.

“Lonely ass boy so me is a favourite pronoun,” he sings on “Outlaw.”

On the shallower “Chop & Slide” he sings of a love interest who wouldn’t commit to nothing beyond pleasures, whereas he’s down for something more serious.

Speaking about the track, he said: “I don’t even know why I wrote about that, honestly, because I haven’t even been in such situations. But I’m very, very imaginative with my writing.” Again, highlighting his penchant for being radical.

On the P.Prime produced “Apllo” which is one of the project’s two lead singles, Victony flexes his vocals over samples from DJ Clock’s ‘Pluto (Remember You),’ a record he claims has always been stuck with him from childhood. The track is perfect for escapism, especially given its Amapiano appeal.

As the curtain folds on “Apollo,” Victony’s lyrical rawness reaches peak on “All Power” – a potential club banger littered with scampish lyrics like “Theresa thief my heart oh/ And run away oh/” and “Ofe Nsala you cook, e done done./”

In Eastern Nigeria, where Victony hails from, Ofe Nsala is a renowned cuisine, a cultural soup delicacy. It made its way into Nigerian pop culture as a slang for describing something very delicious, after popular Nigerian musician Duncan Mighty—also from Southeastern Nigeria—included it in his chorus during his guest appearance on DMW’s 2018 smash hit “Aza” featuring Davido and Peruzzi.

Pretty much like “Apollo” and “All Power” “Jolene” is upbeat and dance-inviting. Producers Ktizo and Hoodini had to import a choir to the studio to sing part of the chorus (Victony tells Apple Music), paving the way for the enchanting acoustic effect that’s heard throughout the song.

On “Soweto” Victony gives composition credits to Tempoe, and sings about a girl he wants to woo, without really caring if she feels the same way. It’s Caribbean rhythm, embellished by soulful flutes and whistles make the record standout.

Finally, “Kolomental,” the last track of the project and the second lead single closes off “Outlaw—EP” in similar fashion “Outlaw” set it off, deeper lyricism with echoes of melancholy and emotional turbulence. The track paints a part picture of what the singer has been through in the last couple of months.

Overall, “Outlaw-EP” is another promising project from one of Afrobeats’ insanely talented prodigies. It’s not as diverse and as rich as “Saturn,” as Victony leans towards more party anthems in a bid to charm the typical Nigerian music listener.

Although he’s shown over the years he can be quite the polymath, time will tell whether this radical creative transformation — sacrificing his deep lyricism, and sharing more of his personal experiences — for the rather vain musical expressions, would pay off.

A$AP Rocky’s highly-anticipated video for “D.M.B.” is finally out.

Back in 2021, Rocky and Rihanna were reported to have been shooting a movie in his Bronx hometwon of New York.

That creative synergy has turned out to be the visual for the rapper’s new single “D.M.B (Dats Mah Bi**h).”

Although Rihanna doesn’t feature in the song like we first expected following the teaser video earlier shared by Rocky, the billionaire Fenty CEO co-stars as her partner’s leading lady in the video, which was also directed by Rocky.

In the cinematic clip, described as a “ghetto love tale,” the real-life couple plays ride-or-die lovers who stick together despite the circumstances. They hold each other down through good and bad, including when Rocky goes to jail on several occasions.

They also get married, donning a pair of grillz that say “Marry Me?” and “I Do.” In a scene of art imitating life, fans hold up signs that read “Free Rocky” as they walk hand-in-hand down the street.

Set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series tells the story of a turbulent period for House Targaryen, one that set sibling against sibling and dragon against dragon. The point of contention: who should rule on the Iron Throne, of course.

House of the Dragon arrives three years after Game of Thrones aired its controversial series finale. Although some fans might be skeptical about joining on this new adventure lest it ends disappointingly again I’m confident the franchise still has enough goodwill to inspire a legion of watchers when it eventually premieres in August.

Rema released the music video for “Are You There” on May 5. “Are You There” is the 11th track on the singer’s debut studio album “Rave and Roses.”

It is one of the rather more conscious records on “Rave and Roses,” with Rema flexing his lyrical skills, talking about the ills in his home country Nigeria.

The music video for “Are You There” is directed by on-fire director TG Omori, who’s artistic expression of the song is near perfect.

Rema portrays the outlaw who wouldn’t give in to police oppression and brutality, as he looks to inspire more people to be like him.

The video also shows the massive divide between Nigeria’s uppersclass (mostly politicians) and lower-class, as they celebrate and lavish money while the masses suffer in penury.

This would be the 4th out of a possible 16 songs to have a music video via “Rave and Roses,” after “Soundgasm,” “FYN,” and “Calm Down.”

Bad Comments was released in cinemas in 2021 and starred Jim Iyke, Ini Edo, Osas Ighodaro, Patience Ozokwor, and a host of other Nollywood stars. The story followed Frank Orji (Jim Iyke), an established actor, who decides to get back at the people responsible for initiating a smear campaign against him in the digital space. The movie saw favourable goodwill at the Nigerian box office and was recently selected for the 17th edition of the Harlem International Film Festival in New York. It was also licensed to Amazon Prime Video earlier this 2022.

According to Jim Iyke’s 6th Sense film production company, the sequel The Crusader is underway and principal photography is slated for July 2022. This project is in conjunction with film and tourism boards in Dubai, Dar es Salam and Lagos.

Whether this Bad Comments sequel will debut in cinemas or Amazon Prime Video hasn’t been addressed yet. Time will tell.

This year’s edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is slated to hold on Saturday, May 14th, and the organizers have finally unveiled our hosts for the night: Ik Osakioduwa and Bonang Matheba.

Announcing the AMVCA 2022 hosts, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels, MultiChoice Nigeria, Busola Tejumola, said:

“We are excited to have Bonang join IK as co-host for the eighth edition of the AMVCAs. They are both extremely talented and have attained continental acclaim, having hosted some of Africa’s biggest shows. Together, they will keep the crowd entertained on the biggest night to celebrate African film and TV stars”.

This isn’t IK Osakioduwa’s first rodeo at the AMVCAs. On making a return to the familiar stage, here’s what the ace presenter had to say:

“I feel honoured to be hosting the AMVCAs again. I’m also really excited about the decision to honour the social media content creators with a category of their own. Trust me when I say, without a doubt, this year is going to be another amazing outing for the African film industry”.

Speaking of her AMVCA debut, Bonang expressed her excitement, saying:

“It’s been a long time coming. It’s always such an honour to host live productions, and I think after COVID, we haven’t had the opportunity to be outside to have these big, big productions with live studio audiences. So, it’s lovely to have all of that back. It’s also an honour. Any single stage I get to step on is an honour. I’ve always wanted to work with IK. I am a huge fan of his. The AMVCA 2022 is slated to be an 8-day event culminating in the award gala night proper on May 14. Here’s the run down of what to expect at the ceremony:

The opening night is on Saturday, 7 May.
Followed by a first-ever AMVCA runway show on Sunday, 8 May.
On Monday, 9 May will be Young Filmmakers’ Day with movie screenings and panel discussions by students of the MultiChoice Talent Factory academy.
Africa Magic will host industry stakeholders for a special Content Market Workshop on Tuesday, 10 May.
And a pan-African food festival and cultural day on Wednesday, 11 May.
A Digital Content Creators’ brunch to spotlight the growing popularity of online content creators will hold on Thursday, 12 May.
Followed by a special gala for nominees on Friday, 13 May.

Kizz Daniel released a new song “Buga” on May 4. The song is co-produced by Blaise Beatz and Young Willis, with guest appearance from Tekno.

“Buga” is a Nigerian slang that translates to showing off.

Months after news on Nigerian singer and dancer, Korra Obidi’s imminent divorce broke out, she has finally revealed some of the reasons for her marriage crash.

The mother of two disclosed via her Instagram live video while talking to her sister Nancy that her estranged husband, Dean had a problem with her constant use of social media

According to Obidi, Dean stopped complaining once her Facebook account started paying and instead, encouraged her to keep being on social media in order to pay off his student loans.

Obidi’s husband, Justin Dean announced his decision to divorce the singer in March 2022, only a few days after the birth of their second child, Athena.

Nigerian rapper Folatin Falana better known as Falz The Bahd Guy has revealed he has never been in love.

The music star made this known in a recent chat with Instagram sensation, Taymesan on his podcast Tea With Tay.

According to the rapper, he has never said to a woman in a romantic way that he loves her.

“I’ve not been in love before sha. I’ve never been in love, I have never said to a woman in a romantical way, I’m in love with you,” he said.

He further stated that he recently closed the door to relationships solely because he isn’t ready for commitments that could alter his life.

As far as music is concerned now, Burna Boy is hot topic. Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy shut down a sold out Madison Square Garden on April 28, showing all of Africa to the city of Manhattan, New York.

His iconoclastic performance had been preceded by lots of talk about how history is in the making, several interviews, and a visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York, but his 3-hour long alluring staging at the Garden, shows exactly why the boy’s stock is on the rise.

Burna was introduced to an ecstatic crowd of more than 20,000 people by New York’s very own legendary rapper Busta Rhymes, as modern day Afro culture intersected with modern American culture.

The introduction was followed by a sensational performance by veteran Senegalese composer Youssou N’Dour, with whom Burna Boy had worked with in the past.

If his fans were ever going to have one night in space, it was ET, as the MSG vibrated with a gamut of iconic sounds across the sub-Sahara.

Many Outsiders (Burna Boy fans), would have loved to be at the Madison, Burna understood his global appeal and made the live broadcast accessible via YouTube. At some point, over 80,000 people were tuned in.

Although “Twice As Tall” earned Burna his first Grammy after he had elusively missed out the previous year with “African Giant,” the trend-setting records on the former occasionally leads people to conversely describe the two albums, despite “Twice As Tall” being a great title.

They rocked to hits from Burna’s previously released tracks including recent collaborations with fast rising Ghanaian rapper and singer Black Sherif (Second Sermon) and fellow Nigerian singer Asake, who featured Burna on his chart topping “Sungba (Remix).”

The surreal moment, however, came when Burna officially confirmed the release date for his next studio album, which will be his 6th and performed an unreleased song from the project.

Announcing the album, Burna reminded the audience of a QR code contained in their tickets, saying it’s a link to pre order the album, which is titled “Love, Damini.” He continued that the album will drop on his birthday July 2 like he had earlier teased during his recent appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

Following the big reveal of his second wife and son on social media, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has described his first wife and mother to four out of five children, May, as his ‘number one and undisputed.’

The movie star made this known via his Instagram page on April 28th where he posted pictures of his wife May.

Nigerian comedian and host, Anita Asuoha popularly known as Real Warri Pikin is celebrating her wedding anniversary today Wednesday, April 27th.

Since joining the Fast and Furious family as the director of the 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Justin Lin’s name has become as attached to the franchise as most of the stars of the franchise. Initially billed to direct Fast X, the franchise’s swansong, Lin has opted to step down.

He broke the news via the franchise’s official Instagram handle.

“With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X, while remaining with the project as a producer.

“”Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases,” he continued. “On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history.”

“I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the FAST family,” he concluded.

Fast X just started filming last week and with Justin Lin’s exit, there’s no report on what comes next for the bevy of stars currently on set.

Ahead of his performance at the Madison Square Garden in New York, Burna Boy was hosted on The Daily Show by Trevor Noah.

The appearance which lasted about 10 minutes, saw Burna talk about his Grammy success, producing Twice As Tall during the pandemic over Zoom, letting his mother Bose Ogulu be his manager, selling out historic grounds like no Nigerian had ever done, and when his next album might drop.

His appearance was met with lots of excitement and cheer from the audience as they applauded almost everything he said.

Burna remained cocky throughout, with Trevor pointing out that that’s one thing he’s come to notice and admire about Nigerians that make them standout from their African counterparts.

He recently sold out the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and followed that up by also selling out the Madison Square– feats no Nigerian had achieved in the past.

Noah brought that up, but Burna was coy over his own achievements, wondering why the “being the first” part is always magnified by the media, who don’t really report when American acts make history selling out other arenas.

However, Noah explained that it’s because people didn’t really imagine that Afrobeats would rub off on American and world pop culture the way it has, and was full of praise for Nigerian artists who have spearheaded that ascension.

Noah even cited an example how Beyonce infused elements of Burna’s music into her own music. Beyonce and Burna collaborated in 2019, on the soundtrack album for Disney Studios animated feature film “The Lion King.”

The “Ye” singer’s sense of humour was on full display, as he went as far as asking Trevor for an actual drink, rather than the coffee or chocolate he offered him this time and the previous time (2019) he was on the show, as they both laughed along with the audience.

Finally, Noah asked Burna Boy when his next album might drop, admitting he’s seen him tease several new records including one with British singer Ed Sheeran. Burna and Ed Sheeran have previously worked together and were recently spotted hanging.

However, Burna, after initially choosing to remain silent, dropped a hint, saying his next album will drop on a day that everyone celebrates themselves.

When Noah admitted he didn’t understand, Burna added that everyone has that particular day that they have to celebrate and that’s when the album might drop.

Not that we’re sure, but it may well be on his birthday. Burna was born on July 2 1991.

Rema joined popular TV host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu in a recent episode of Channels TV’s Rubbin Minds.

On the show, the Mavin Records act talked about returning to school, his new album, how he made the switch from gospel music to trap music, how he met D’Prince, and lots more.

Rema, whose debut album Raves & Roses opened to positive reviews, announced earlier on Twitter that he’d been offered admission into the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG).

When asked what course he’d be studying, he said: “Theatre Arts.” Ebuka also teased the 21-year-old singer, whose slight dig at the currently striking Academic Staff Union of Universities in Nigeria (ASUU) trended on the internet. Rema has been unable to resume at UNILAG due to ASUU’s ongoing strike.

According to the interview, Rema used to sing in his Christ Embassy church and headed the rap nation there. He revealed he made the switch, turning up for performances at political rallies, hitting up bars and lounges just so he could foot the bills at home following the death of his father and brother.

I was still in Benin when that switch happened. A lot of people thought that when I got signed, I started deviating.
No. Actually, life was tough in Benin. I’m not that guy to ask the people in church to pay me because I’m doing God’s work.
Right there in Benin, I started going to competitions, going to bars, lounges, political rallies; just trying to get on the stage and hold a microphone, to at least get sprayed some money to come back home and feed my family, because we were going through tough times.

He also shared how he met D’Prince, the event that culminated in his signing to Mavin Records. Rema reached out to Prince on Instagram, shared a couple of recorded carpool freestyles and he liked and reshared them.

It’s been an intense 3 years for the “Calm Down” singer, whose music has virtually reached every corner of the world. On Raves & Roses, he proved his international appeal, working with several international acts including American Pop and RNB sensation Chris Brown.

Rema’s also worked with many top artists from his home country Nigeria but revealed his intent to work with other fast rising stars like him including Fireboy DML, Joeboy, Omah Lay, stating that they talk and plan collaborations.

And FYI, for those who are wondering, Rema is still single, but is not actively searching and insisted during the interview that he remains very good friends with label mate Ayra Starr, whom he ocassionally posts on his social media, praising her for her talent and positive energy.
