Media personality and host, Bolanle Olukanni has advised women to be friends with a man first before they consider dating him.
According to her, true colors come out quicker when people become your friends first before dating.

Warner Bros. Pictures on Monday 27th December released a second trailer for their upcoming superhero film, The Batman, and the new trailer has caught the eye of anticipating fans, revealing how star casts Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz take to their respective roles of Batman and Catwoman.

We’ve seen Halle Berry, Michelle Pfieffer, Anne Hathaway, and Eartha Kitt give us their take on Catwoman over the years, but now, it’s Zoë Kravitz’s turn. The Batman will hit theatres in March 2022, and is directed by Matt Reeves, who’s best known for his work on Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Paul Dano, Colin Farell, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and John Turturro will all appear alongside Pattinson and Kravitz, among others.

The new trailer, subtitled The Bat and The Cat sees Pattison’s Batman take on Dano’s Riddler in Gotham City. As Complex notes, the legacy of Bruce Wayne’s family appears to be the main plot mystery of the forthcoming film, with vengeance and quest for justice a major driver of Batman and Catwoman.

While preparing for her role, Kravitz revealed to Empire in a recent interview that she had a lot of physically demanding work to do. “We watched cats and lions and how they fight, and we talked about what is actually possible when you’re my size, and Batman’s so much stronger than me.”

“What is my skill? It’s being fast and tricky. So we did some really interesting floor work that incorporated different kinds of martial arts and capoeira and a kind of feline, dance-like movement.”

Of course, Batman is the central character of the movie, but viewers are already enamoured by the High Fidelity star’s sultry portrayal of her character, with some even saying that she “outshines” Pattinson in his starring role.

The third and final instalment of British actor, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy has hit a new milestone for revenue generated. The John Watts directed blockbuster released in theatres on the 17th of December, and has received staggering praise from moviegoers and critics.

Spider-Man: No Way Home in the 10 days it’s been running worldwide has crossed the $1 billion mark, and is now the highest grossing Sony film of all time in the United States, albeit without adjusting for inflation.

It’s $1 billion crossing means it is the first theatrically released film in the COVID-19 era to reach such impressive numbers. Another Marvel release, Avengers: Endgame holds the record for the fastest film to reach the $1 billion mark, after only 5 days of its release. It’s also the highest grossing Marvel film of all time. However, there’s still a lot of time for Spider-Man: No Way Home to try to play catch up.

Commercially, Spider-Man: No Way Home is already a huge success for Marvel and Sony. The billion dollar grossing had pretty much become the standard for their theatrical releases, and factoring in COVID-19, it’s arguable that the film is over-performing.

Veteran Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale celebrated her 58th birthday on Sunday, December 26, and was in good company, with several friends and colleagues within and outside the industry turning up to show love and support.

After about 18 years, The Matrix franchise returned with a third sequel of the original 1999 movie, this time subtitled ‘Resurrections’. Firstly, the original Matrix movie revolutionised the cross-world of sci fiction and action movies. It was never a movie for the average moviegoer to see and appreciate or understand all its brilliant thematic ideas and components.

Of course, an explainer animated anthology series, The Animatrix (2003) was created to solve that problem, bridge the gap, and help fans find deeper meanings and connections to the devices explored in the original movies. However, it probably took only those with a keen interest in understanding and appreciating Lana and Lily Wachowski’s intellectual property to actually see the origin story, which released a few months before Reloaded and Revolutions respectively.

Although after almost two decades, many would say that Warner Bros is plain hustling, it’s true but it’s not a bad attempt. Resurrections, beyond ostensibility, resurrects the franchise; expanding the original IP and setting fans up for potentially more content to come.

The film’s most critical triumph presents itself in the seamless and lossless transition to the modern and new Matrix even with Reeves and Moss returning; an audacious reaffirmation of why The Matrix (1999) blew our minds without leaving room for disbelief or doubts. Critics will have a lot to say about Resurrections, but observe how it’ll never be plot holes taking the film to its low point- and that’s because Lana Wachowski leaves room for absolutely none.

It’s a little bit less green from what we used to know from the original Matrix trilogy. Disappointingly, there are also less choreographed fight scenes in The Matrix Resurrections compared to the previous films, and there’s limited time to get to know majority of the new characters. However, if this was a shot at rebooting and reawakening Matrix loyalists, all in all, this was a successful and timely attempt.

It takes a red-piller to realise the Matrix, but it also takes a blue-piller to be living happily in the Matrix; being controlled like a mindless zombie. These choices extend to the real world appreciation of The Matrix’s intellectual property ; will you swallow the red pill and follow keenly, or will you stick with the blue pill and breeze through the franchise like the average moviegoer? The choice is yours.

Few weeks after announcing their reconciliation, twins Peter and Paul Okoye of the famed Nigerian music band P-Square were back performing on stage at the Livespot Festival in Lekki, Lagos.

The musical duo had been officially separated since 2017, and went on to release respective solo albums this year after several singles. However, fans had been anticipating their reunion, and earlier this year, different video footage appeared online, showing either of the brothers hanging with the others family.

On November 18, Peter and Paul celebrated their birthday together, confirming they had squashed their long standing feud, a move that was met with lots of excitement from fans and well wishers of the multiple award winning band.

P-Square opened their 2021 Livespot Festival with their 2005 smash hit ‘Get Squared’, donning similar outfits and treating the fans to their signature dance moves. They also performed several of their other hits and were joined on stage by the likes of J Martins, Timaya, and Flavour.

Nigerian singing sensation Fireboy DML linked up with British musician Ed Sheeran on a remix of his globetrotting smash hit ‘Peru’.

Peru remix was released on the 24th of December, and has amassed over 450K views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.

The song’s impressive performance brought it to the attention of the Peruvian government, who have encouraged their citizens to listen to the song, teasing that hit song may have been inspired by the country’s name.⁣

Music sensation, Fireboy DML has come through with the remix of his hit single “Peru”, featuring English singer, Ed Sheeran.

Released today, the tune was accompanied by energetic visuals that see the Shape of You crooner sing in ‘pidgin’, while trying out some Nigerian moves.

The original version of the smashing single which was released back in July had attracted global attention and also enjoyed massive airplay.

Speaking on the collaboration in a press release, Fireboy said;
“It has been a dream knowing Ed Sheeran is a fan of my sound and having him jump on a song that was inspired by me traveling the world,”

Nigerian comedian and singer, Kenny Blaq has unveiled a first-look at his debut Netflix release, a comedy special titled ‘In My Room’.

Distributed by Blue Pictures, the comedy special which was shot in Lagos will see Blaq reflect on his Covid-19 lockdown experience, riffing on airport customs, his love life and more.

Over the years, there have been some impressive Nigerian records resulting from musicians taking shots at each-other, or even at other celebrities in a song. As many will agree, beefing/dissing is a fundamental musical culture, especially in Hip Hop and will never go anywhere.

So, whether you consider them to have been the pursuit of clout or commercial success, below top 10 diss songs in the history of modern Nigerian music, ranked in no particular order.

Igwe – Kelly Handsome

“Maga Don Pay” had earned Imo state singer, rapper, and record producer Kelly Handsome some prominence and a loyal fan-base when the smash hit debuted in 2008. But while Handsome was mainly dominating parts of Eastern Nigeria- home to the Ibo people and the Igbo language, Mo’ Hits Records and Dbanj were pretty much the name on everyone’s lips. No one could have guessed Kelly Handsome would have a bone to pick with Dbanj and his crew, targeting them with a diss song titled “Igwe.” “Igwe” was a follow-up to an earlier diss record, a satire of Wande Coal’s hit song with Kay Switch “Who Born The Maga.” In the record, Handsome accused Mo’ Hits of abusing his culture and traditions, declaring himself the original Igwe (King). People still think Dbanj and Don Jazzy’s 2008 hit song “Igwe,” where the DB Records’ boss joked he was honoured and made a chieftain when he visited Igbo land was the cause of the dispute. And perhaps it was.


I Wan Finish Timaya – Nico Gravity

Perhaps the funniest and lightest beef song that’s ever come straight out of Naija. But it makes our list because of its directness and raw lyricism. Nico Gravity didn’t hold anything back, calling Timaya out on all fronts, before going on to give him advice. Well, wherever Gravity is today, he’d have swallowed his words given how successful and influential the Dem Mama boss is today. The hook too- Golden!

Beef – MI

Kelly Handsome dominated one of the most exciting periods of beefing in the history of Nigerian music. Whether he was doing it for fun, clout, commercial success or because he truly had a problem with the artists he was taking shots at remains a mystery until now. But he gave us plenty to remember. However, many will say he bit a little more than he could chew when he chose to add MI to his list of targeted artists in his rap song “Catch Me If You Can.” While the record was mainly targeted at Handsome’s arch-enemies Mo’ Hits Records, he did have a swipe at MI’s debut album “Talk About It,” referring to MI as short as a reply to the Choc City rapper’s claim he was sitting on top Naija hip Hop. Everyone was pumped to see how MI handles the diss, given that Mo’ Hits never really indulged Handsome all the while, and the result is one of the most talked about diss tracks in the history of Nigerian music. Till now, people tout this record to be Kelly Handsome’s career waterloo, given that we didn’t really hear much from the rapper/singer after its release.

Hit Em Up – Warri 2Pac feat. Warri 50Cent

Talk about ranting in Hip Hop and this is probably the hardest rant diss record you can get. Rappers Erriga and Yung6ix had put Warri on the map with their music, but these guys showed us exactly why you don’t want to cross a typical Wafsider. Asides perfectly mimicking the great 2Pac Shakur, this track probably contains some of the rawest lyrics you’ll ever hear in a diss track just like the original “Hit Em Up”, calling out several big names including Mode 9, MI, Ice Prince, Erriga, Banky W, 2Shotz, Rugged Man, and even accusing Wizkid of wearing pampers. Sick!



Telli Person – Timaya feat. Phyno and Olamide

Although not targeted at anoter musician, “Telli Person” sparked a trend after Phyno appeared to have fired warning shots at then Instagram celebrity Hushpuppi. Phyno and Hushpuppi’s feud had resulted from the now convict accusing the rapper of flaunting fake jewellery. Phyno fired back in the record. The record would have even made more sense if it had been released in the wake of Hushpuppi’s controversial downfall plotted by the FBI.

The Plantashun Boys saga is one that will probably go down as the most serious and most controversial beefs of all time as far as Nigerian music is concerned. Although this song was supposed to be some sort of “I have moved on” message from 2Face to his former band members Faze and BlackFace, it will go down, ironically as one of the biggest diss songs that made the rounds. It later prompted a response from Faze. It’s a typical example of how the tone and choice of words can lead to the misinterpretation of a message. However, without the record, we wouldn’t have had Faze’s wonderful, evergreen track “Letter to My Brother.”

Talk about different personalities and temperaments. When 2Face dropped “See Me So,” his intention was to try and broker peace between him and his estranged Plantashun Boys family. However, Faze’s “Letter to My Brother” showed 2Face exactly how to preach peace from the heart. This song, although was the brainchild of quarrel, will forever remain one of Nigeria’s most classic records, and deserves to be in the hall of fame of Nigerian music, if we ever have something like that in the near future.

Distractions – Vector feat. AQ

Of course, the history of beef in Nigeria will be incomplete without Vector in it. We later heard AQ didn’t even know Vector had planned this record as a diss track to fellow rapper Reminisce. As usual, Vector displayed why he’s considered one of the best rapper’s in the game, with punch lines that hit hard and his trademark wordplays.


Judas the Rat – Vector

Twitter was the genesis of Vector’s beef with MI, and yeah, most fans consider them the undisputed supremos when it comes to Nigerian Hip Hop. And rightly so, when you consider that Mode 9 is an underground artist. As far as quality goes, the MI and Vector saga served fans premium diss records to sink their teeth into. Many still consider it a commercial antic by both rappers, especially after Vector claimed in an interview that the beef helped him sell more records. Well, beefing is a culture in Hip Hop and will never go away, and this one certainly raised the bar.

The Viper – MI

One of the songs birthed by the MI vs Vector saga. Much like Jay-Z’s “Take Over” diss track to Nas, this record is touted by many experts as the best diss track ever recorded in a studio by a Nigerian artist. Many people were interested in seeing how MI would handle Vector’s call-out, and boy did he hold it down! MI and Vector have since buried the hatchet, going on to appear on this year’s Hennessy Artistry Cypher.

The documentary, titled BBNaija: The Fame, The Fans, The Frenzy, will go behind the scenes of production of Nigeria’s most watched reality TV show.

A brand-new and first ever Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) documentary will premiere on African Magic this coming November, organisers have revealed.

The mini-documentary titled BBNaija: The Fame, The Fans, The Frenzy produced by ID Africa’s The Bang Studio will premiere on Africa Magic in November.

Njideka Akabogu, Big Brother Nigeria’s Lead Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 27. She said the documentary would go behind the scenes of Africa’s biggest reality TV show, detailing truths about the show’s production.

Akabogu also noted that the documentary features some of BBNaija’s most popular ex-housemates, including Bisola Aiyeola, Mercy Eke, Ozo, Laycon, Nengi and Alex Asogwa.

“Also making an appearance in the documentary is the show’s infamous series producer, Kayode, who answers some of the most difficult questions that fans have asked over the years about the show and camera times for the housemates who have passed through the show.”


“BBN: The Fame, the Fans, the Frenzy tells the untold story of the show and examines its impact through the eyes of relevant stakeholders, with appearances from the host, crew and organisers of the show, which has grown to become the biggest Big Brother franchise in the world,” she said.

...I'm in a long distance relationship with this extremely beautiful and intelligent girl. We met in 2009 back then while i was in technical college cos her school is in the same compound as mine.

It was truly a beautiful start till we started drifting apart because i wasn't having time for her anymore. I will spend the day with my goons moving from one bar to another and one jungle to another till the relationship finally hit the rock.

Then in 2012 i decided to get serious with my life so i had to relocate to another state due to constant temptations and peer pressures.
Our paths crossed again in 2016 when she added me up on Facebook. I asked about her current boyfriend and she told me the guy cheated on her and married her friend. She also asked about my current girlfriend of which i sincerely told her that we broke up because she was a lesbian. So fter a couple of chats, we immediately realised that we missed each other and so the relationship was rekindled again though we were not in the same state.

This girl luvs me to bits and i do too! She even suggested that we do a blood covenant that we will stick to each other till death but i refused, not because i'm having bad intensions but because i saw it as unnecessary.

The problem here is lately she has been talking about settling down latest by next year and with the way she is saying it, i know she is not going to change her mind. But honestly i don't see myself fit for that because i'm still hustling to make ends meet.

Lately i've been thinking of how to end the relationship the earlier the better without hurting her so she can be able to meet another guy that is ready to settle down but it seems her luv for me is growing more and more intense to the extent that she is trying to work her nysc to the state I'm residing so we could be together.
I've tried to cut off communications by switching off my phone during the day time so that she might begin to lose interest but anytime i switched it on i will get an sms from her telling me of how she is addicted to me!

So i really don't know how to handle this.

I want to stop chatting her up or maybe not spending much time with her (if at all there is any).I have done it tho.But I feel like I have done something very bad by leaving her just like that.She calls but I don't pick,and sometimes when I pick,I wouldn't want to talk too much but instead, I make the call as quick as possible.And When I think about her,it makes me feel like a bad person.


Pls anybody with an Idea in how to tell her I quit!!! pls help
