Tony Tetuila, whose mother died during the week has recounted some beautiful moments they shared, as he described her as his pillar of support.

In his chat with Saturday Beats, the veteran singer who has hits like ‘My Car,’ ‘Omode Meta,’ but to mention a few, disclosed that his mom always knew he will succeed and ensured he lived long enough to witness his destiny, after he got poisoned as a kid.

Tony Tetuila said;

“God just wants me to be alive till date and that is why I did not die when I was a kid. I was poisoned as a kid and after that, I had leg injury. Who knows maybe they wanted me to become a cripple but God did not allow their wish to come to pass. When my mother told me the story, she said that there was a time I could not walk and I had to crawl on the floor with my chest just to move.

“My mother said all of a sudden, I stood up again. She told me that she always knew I was going to be known all over the world. She said that was why I was attacked as a child. I forgive whoever disturbed me when I was young. I had since forgiven them. I thank God and my mother for the gift of life.

“My early days were rough even though I am from a fairly comfortable family. However, no matter how wonderful your background is, once you are from a polygamous home, there is really nothing you can do. I just believe that my being alive today and what I eventually turned out to be in the society is destined by God. There were people that were richer than my father but they eventually lost their lives, however, I just believe everything was destined by God. Regardless of how holy you act or seem, there are still some people that would say bad things about you but I have learnt how to turn the bad things people say about me into prayer.”

Recounting his growing days in a polygamous family, the Tony Tetuila said;

 “I can never marry two wives. I cannot have a child outside of my marriage. I have a wife and three children. I have admirers who compliment me every time I step out but I make sure I do not get carried away because two wives equal more problems. Two wives, two troubles; there are girls that would admire you but do not allow that to get into your head or else you lose your respect,” he said.

Waje's former assistant, Yvonne Imongan, has called out the singer who penned down a post to young people seeking success.


Waje in her post had stated that young people think that success is all about wearing makeup, smiling, and taking photos, however the struggle is real and not as glamorous as they think. The singer also disclosed that in the last 3 months she has worked with 4 personal assistants, and they all thought that the job was about taking photos while complaining that the job was stressful.

Nairabet Owner, Akin Alabi has dropped a tweet on apology and revenge and it has long gone viral on Twitter. 

According to the betting platform CEO, when someone doesn't apologize when he or she offends you, it is okay to revenge. The Nairabet Owner further added that revenge doesn't have to be violent, but the message behind it should be not allowing people see you as someone that can easily be roughened up.

Akin Alabi concluded his post by stating that people often claim they will rather forgive an offensive act, not because they really want to but because they are weak. He tweeted;

When someone offends you and he doesn’t apologize, it’s okay to revenge. Don’t allow anyone guilt trip you into letting go. It will make you look weak and more and more people will try to take advantage of you. Revenge!

Sometimes, people won’t know they have offended you. You can point it out to them you don’t like what they did. Most times, they will apologize. If they don’t, then you can wait for the right time to revenge.

Revenge does not mean it has to be violent. Sometimes it can just be as simple as a tweet. The message is don’t let people see you as someone that can easily be roughened up. It’s not because you want to be wicked, it’s for others that are watching.

I know many people will say they will rather forgive. They say so not because they really want to forgive but because they are WEAK. So before you say you will forgive, check yourself. Is it that you are WEAK or you really want to forgive?

Uche Ogbodo is the latest celebrity cover for Rainbow and NicsonAfrica Magazines, August and July edition respectively.


Coming through with her white 'charm' and rose for Rainbow Magazine, Uche Ogbodo talked about reinventing herself, being relevant in the movie industry for over 13 years and losing weight for her boyfriend. According to actress, 'sometimes to keep something you truly love, you have to do something you have never done before'.

'I have never really opened up about what pushed me into loosing weight and reinventing myself to this point where am loving myself everyday. •My boyfriend' she added.

Robbers said to be dressed in SARS uniform, have reportedly robbed a man of his N5million in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

Twitter user @ikwerreman who shared the report disclosed that the men who wore SARS uniform but with no mask on, trailed the man from the bank where he made the withdrawal. Read his tweets below;

Nigeria’s ambassador to South Africa, Ahmed Ibeto has resigned ahead of the 2019 general elections


Ahmed arrived Nigeria from Pretoria on Sunday and on Monday morning, he handed over his letter of resignation at the Ministry of External Affairs. The former Nigeria’s ambassador to South Africa renounced his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress afterwards, and crossed over to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

Though it couldn't be confirmed if the envoy saw President Muhammadu Buhari before returning to Minna on Monday evening, however it was gathered that Ahmed Ibeto was a deputy governor of Niger State on the platform of PDP.

Punch reported that the Ibeto who has left Minna for his home town of Ibeto in Magama Local Government Area of the state, was received by over 1,000 supporters on his way to Ibeto. At Ibeto, it is expected he will officially resign his membership of the APC and assume PDP membership.

The former Ambassador who was a member of the PDP until the primary election of the party in November 2014, during which he lost the governorship ticket to Umar Nasko, a former Chief of Staff to ex-governor Babangida Aliyu, would join governorship race immediately he registered with PDP.

In 2014 after he resigned his membership of the PDP along with thousands of his supporters after complaining about “the injustice” melted to him by the then ruling party, he was the vehicle on which the incumbent APC governor rode to victory, leading his campaign to all the 274 wards in the state.

Also, last year, he was was appointed an ambassador and posted to South Africa by President Muhammed Buhari.

Ibeto was a former Deputy Governor of Niger State, 2007 to 2015, former member, House of Representatives, 2003. He was also Senior Special Assistant on Protocol Matters to the governor of Niger State from 1999 to 2003.

A security expert identified Tunde Adeparusi, was injured after he was hit by a bullet allegedly fired by policemen attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos, strayed on Friday.


The security expert was on his way to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Friday, when the bullet shot by cops chasing some suspects around the airport tollgate, pierced his car and hit him.

It was gathered that one of the policemen was said to have resorted to shooting, when they were challenged for breaking the barrier at the tollgate. Speaking to Punch's correspondent, the security expert explained that he was waiting at the tollgate to pay a gate fee when he was hit by the stray bullet.

“I was at the airport tollgate on Friday around 12.35pm, waiting to be attended to. I noticed that on the exit side of the tollgate, one vehicle sped past, while another speeding vehicle broke the barrier.

“After occupants of the vehicle noticed that they have broken the barrier, they stopped.

“Argument ensued between workers at the tollgate and the occupants of the vehicle who were apparently policemen; and before we know what happened we heard gunshots.

“They started shooting when the workers at the tollgate challenged them. The officer who shot was inside the car shouting that the workers allowed the suspects they were chasing to escape, threatening that he would shoot, and he eventually released some shots.

“At first, I did not know it was a gunshot, but I noticed that something pierced through my window side and the glass shattered on my face.

“One of the tollgate attendants shouted, ‘They have shot this man,’ not knowing that it was me they were referring to until I saw blood on my face.

“The policemen thought I was dead, one of them came out of the vehicle to pick up the empty shell and they drove off.

“I came out of my vehicle and I was taken to a nearby hospital. If not for God, I probably would have lost my life on Friday" he said.

He added that the CCTV footage revealing the face of one of the policemen, was released to Bisam Police Station where the case was reported to. However Joseph Alabi, the Police Public Relation Officer for the Airport Command said he was not aware of the matter.

A welder, Sunday Clark, who plotted the abduction of a businessman, Mr. Adewale Kazeem, has been arrested by operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad attached to the Rivers State Police Command.

The welder who is a member of a notorious kidnap gang, had earlier in December 2017, gone to Adewale’s house on invitation to carry out a welding job for him. However after the work invitation, he acted as an informant to the gang to kidnap a businessman, Kazeem, a resident of Rukpokwu in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Clark who was among the five gang members paraded by the police, told newsmen that he brought one of the leading members of the gang to the place where Adewale was residing and pointed at the house. According to him, he was not among the abduction team but was only given N40,000 after ransom was paid.

“I did not join them the day they operated at the man’s (Adewale) house, but they only gave me N40,000 after they collected ransom from the man.

“I know the man (victim) and his house because he gave me a welding job to do in his house. I was still on the job when I brought in Tony (Tony Raphael, one of the kidnappers) and pointed to the house.

“Although Mr. Adewale paid me my money after doing the job for him, it was the devil that pushed me to plan with my gang to kidnap him. I beg for forgiveness,” the 36-year-old welder said.

Also confessing to the crime,  20-year-old Chigozie Onuigbo from Ikwuano, Abia State, who is a member of the gang, told newsmen that they went Adewale’s house at about 7pm on December 24, 2017 and met him where he was resting.

“We went to his house with a black Ford Ranger van with a revolving security light so that no one will notice that we are kidnappers.

“We met him (victim) resting and we took him to Omademe in Ikwerre Local Government, where we tied him to an iron. We don’t know the amount that was paid as ransom because our leader, who collected the money, did not tell us" he said.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr Zaki Ahmed, who paraded the suspects whose name he gave as Tony Raphael, Ifeanyi Okoye, Chigozie Onuigbo, Emeka Nwaiwu, Chinedu Isia and Sunday Clark, said that they operated with an unregistered police colour Ford Ranger van, which was among item recovered from them.

Punch reported that he said that the gang members were apprehended on June 18 and 19, 2018 during a sting operation by men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

“The suspects, who usually operate in a police van also wore black jeans and T-shirt in police colours with the Ford van also in police colour bearing revolving light, have confessed to numerous kidnapping operations.

“They confessed to kidnapping one Adewale Kazeem on 24/12/2017, the kidnap of one Chief Emmanuel Ogbuji of Igwuruta town in June, this year, abduction of one Ikechukwu Okorie and also robbed him of his Toyota Camry Spider, which was later recovered.

“Also kidnapped by the gang is one Mike Nagwu of Eneka road in Port Harcourt. Exhibits recovered are police accoutrements, Ford van with revolving lights, black T-shirts and some pairs of jean trousers and two pump action guns" he said.

The APC Senators defection announcement was made by  Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, during plenary on Tuesday. Among those who indicated interest to defect were Dino Melaye, Barnabas Gemade, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Lanre Tejuoso, Suleiman Hunkuyi, Abdullahi Danbaba, Mohammed Isa Haman and Nafada Usman Bayero.

UNIZIK students, who lost one of their colleagues over the weekend after he reportedly slumped while playing basketball, held a peaceful protest over the incident.

It was gathered that the school’s management did not allow the students to hold the protest in the school premises, so they took the protest down to Anambra Broadcasting Service and further stated that they want their school clinic to be properly equipped.

Salawa Abeni, the Nigerian veteran singer who disclosed few days ago that she escaped a robbery incident in her home, has disclosed that men still pester her for love despite turning 57 recently.


The veteran act who said she learnt to treat such men with respect while turning them down, said in an interview with Saturday Beats;

“Men still pester me for love but I am always very careful with them even though you cannot know which one is good or bad from mere appearance.

“I mentioned it in one of my songs that if I laugh too much, they will call me a prostitute, if I frown too much, they will say I am proud. But it is good to be very diplomatic with them and not to be rude to them.”

Salawa Abeni who also raised an alarm over the rising spate of broken marriages especially in the entertainment industry, said that every man or woman needed a companion; therefore people must make their marriages work.

 “The truth is that every adult male or female wants to be in a happy marriage. They should note that two wrongs can never make a right. One has to be cool-headed and patient.

“Those in the entertainment industry need to take things easy. While they make others happy with their talents, they must also make themselves happy by building good homes.”

Queen Salawa Abeni walked down the aisle with Sir Kollington Ayinla, in the 1980's, however their marriage spectacularly crashed leading to name calling on songs. The couple however got back together, after years of separation according to Vanguard.

The former lovers reunited at Fidau celebration and burial ceremony of the Queen Salawa Abeni 's mother in Epe.

Saidi Balogun, has pointed out that the fake life most Nigerian celebrities are accused of living, are caused by fans.

The respected movie producer and actor who stated that the only thing those in the movie industry owed fans was to always produce good works that address certain societal issues, added that many entertainers, unable to withstand the subtle pressure, involve themselves in all sorts of unacceptable things just to keep up a good appearance.

“It is always better to be yourself. I am myself, I don’t believe in the saying that you are addressed the way you are dressed. I believe that people should be judged based on their intellectual prowess and not by their appearance. I can ride okada from Lagos to Ibadan. I believe in doing what makes me happy" Saidi Balogun said.

Nollywood actress, Liz Anjorin who is one of the actors with a stake in the business sector, in a new interview disclosed that Nollywood may collapse soon.

According to the actress who converted from Christianity to Islam few years ago, the activities of pirates coupled with the lack of investment in the sector might soon lead to its collapse, and the fear of not being stranded should that happen, pushed her into creating other sources of income to survive.

Liz Anjorin who also debunked rumours of being financed by a Sugar Daddy,  stated that all her wealth came from hard work and creativity.

“I decided to put in more hard work and create multiple streams of income after realising that the movie industry will soon collapse.

The most painful thing you can say to a very hard working person is to look for their trouble. An average hustler is aggressive in nature. A real hustler doesn’t eat, I hardly eat. I wake up 5:00am every day.

“I feel your colleague should be your family. If you have issues with anybody, you can call them and discuss them. It’s just a normal disagreement that can happen between two people. Through her statement, I realised that she was pained. I don’t believe in talking down on someone because the person spends his or her money.”

A Ghanaian policeman identified as Fredrick Amanor, has been spotted in a video which has gone viral on social media, wrestling with and ruthlessly assaulting a nursing mother in a bank.

The yet to be identified lady, who had gone to the Midland Savings and Loans to withdraw, reported a little late after banking hours and was asked to leave. The woman who was clutching to her baby, reportedly pleaded with the bank officials to allow her make some withdrawals.

However for daring to make such appeal,  Frederick Amanor Skalla, was asked to send her out of the banking hall and he did that in Rambo-style. Starting with an umbrella, the policeman allegedly hit the woman and her baby several times in the head before he started slapping and punching her.

Not even the tears of the weeping child, will stop the policeman from continuing with his assault. He pummeled the lady and threw them out of the banking hall. However an updated report on the incident, allege that Frederick Amanor Skalla who was arrested over the incident, is currently at the Police Headquarters awaiting possible prosecution for indecent assault.

Nigeria's Presidency has reacted to a communique issued by leaders of some socio-cultural organisations led by the Northern Elders Forum, who accused Buhari’s administration of incompetence in handling the security situation in the country.


The Presidency who came down hard on leaders of these socio-cultural organizations, described them as selfish leaders who felt alienated after a transparent and accountable system “halted their disproportionate survival on resources of the state.”

The statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on behalf of the Presidency, said it considered the communique “as the shedding of crocodile tears by selfish leaders.”

Urging Nigerians to ignore what he described as the unholy alliance by the groups, Garba Shehu alleged that the groups were only stepping up their assault on the All Progressives Congress administration as it expands its national dominance and moves closer to securing an outright victory in the elections next year.

“The Presidency notes with dismay that the refrain about President Buhari not doing anything about security in the country had turned into the number one fake news item being peddled in the media.

“The Presidency refers all the purveyors of falsehood to a State House press release published a few days ago and signed by the Special Adviser to President, Femi Adesina, which clearly outlined the government’s major achievements and initiatives in tackling security challenges from January to July, 2018.

“The press release which was titled: ‘Combating Insecurity in the Country: Lest We Forget – Presidency’ listed out ongoing security operations: (1) Nigerian Army’s Exercise Ayem Akpatuma covering Benue, Taraba, Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Niger States launched in February to tackle cases of kidnappings, herdsmen/farmers’ clashes, among others; (2) Nigerian Air Force establishment of three new Quick Response Wings (QRW) in Taraba, Nasarawa and Benue States respectively, and deployment of Special Forces personnel.

“The press release also noted President Buhari’s approval for the establishment of a new Battalion of the Nigerian Army, as well as a new Police Area Command, in Birnin Gwari Local Council in Kaduna State, as part of measures to scale up security in response to the banditry affecting the area.

“We advise Nigerians to read Adesina’s statement if they haven’t yet, or re-read it for better understanding of the efforts to ensure peace in the country.

“It is sad and misleading for anyone to say that President Buhari had not responded to the security challenges in the country.

“No one can honestly say that President Buhari is doing nothing about security. It’s just a fake news item being peddled by selfish politicians with vested interests in keeping Nigerians incensed, and it risks being entrenched as reality if we don’t educate ourselves with the truth" he said.

The beef between the two Yoruba actresses was reignited at an event hosted by their colleague Kemi Korede. It was gathered that Ronke Oshodi-Oke who was the MC, took the microphone and requested for money from the guests which she claims 'is a custom for every MC in Nigeria'.

Taraba Commissioner of Police, Mr David Akinremi, was on Monday injured by rampaging youths in the State's capital. 

Confirming the attack, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP David Misal, said the Taraba Commissioner of Police had gone to the Tudunwada area of the metropolis with a team of officers, to restore normalcy following reports of youths’ unrest.

”He was hit on the head with a stone resulting in serious bleeding before he was rushed to the Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

“Since yesterday, some irate youths, armed with dangerous weapons,including cutlasses, axes and other objects, started disturbing the peace of residents around Tudun Wada and Gadan Boboji areas of Jalingo town.

“Our men were deployed there and normalcy returned.  However, this morning, we got reports that the boys had come out again in large numbers, brandishing these weapons and attacking innocent citizens; the situation was so bad that the Commissioner of Police decided to go there himself with other officers.  

“In the course of addressing the youths to calm them down, he was stoned in the head and was immediately rushed to the hospital,where he was treated of his injuries. “For now, he has been discharged and is taking his rest at home.

“As we speak, a serious operation is going on there to calm the situation and forestall further breakdown of law and order in the area,” he said.

NAN reported that the Police PRO also warned that the command would not sit back and watch people, take the laws into their hands by unleashing mayhem on innocent people.He confirmed that at least 60 persons had so far been arrested.

“I can assure you that the command would make sure that normalcy is completely maintained in the area and the perpetrators of this crime  are brought to book.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on members of the public to always report any suspicious elements to the police promptly, with assurance that their identity would not be disclosed,” he assured.

The Niger State Police Command have arrested a 29-year-old man, Abdullahi Abubakar, for defiling an 11-year-old girl behind ECWA Church, Barkin-Sale in Minna, Niger State.

The arrested suspect lured the victim into his room and forcefully had sex with her on July 12, whie she was on an errand. It was gathered that he had had sex with the victim over three times.

He said, “I love the small girl, she is so beautiful that I can’t let her go without making love to her as she always submit to me and I have been making love to her; At least, I have done it more than three times.

“I don’t know what has come over me but I think I love the girl. I have messed up my life; look at me, 29-year-old man having an affair with 11-year -old girl.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, told newsmen that the suspect would soon be charged to court, noting that investigation had been concluded into the incident. The Police PRO who said the suspect had confessed to the crime and regretted his action, advised parents to monitor their children “especially girls so that those hopeless men out there would not take advantage of them.”

This is coming after a 17-year-old boy, Sunday Omowaye, was arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ court for defiling a 9-year-old girl in church. The accused, a fashion designer who resides at 14, Baale St., Ilaje area in Ajah, suburb of Lagos, was charged with defilement.

The Prosecutor Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offence was committed on Jan. 18 inside a church in Ilaje area of Ajah, Lagos. Ogu said that the accused who worshipped in that church went there, claiming that he went to the church to take measurements of some of the church members.

A 53-year-old Nigerian woman became a mother for the first time, after she welcomed a baby girl after 20 years of marriage. Facebook user Ogundero Dainty Morenike who shared the story, said her aunt has christened the baby girl 'Victoria'. She wrote;
