BusinessEniola Adenuga And Damilola Fight Over Athena, Their Child’s Custody by Letenwam(op): 9:16am On Jun 22, 2018
Telecommunications cum business mogul, Mike Adenuga's son, Eniola, has been enmeshed in a dirty custody battle with his ex-lover Damilola.

Punch gathered that on Friday, May 18, 2018, Mike Adenuga's son who was accompanied by some policemen to pick up his daughter, Athena at her school in the Lekki area of Lagos State, was accused of allegedly abducting the three-year-old.

Eniola reportedly refused to release the child to her mother ,despite a court order which reportedly granted him access to the child only on weekends. The custody battle between Eniola and 25-year-old Damilola, began shortly after they welcomed their daughter.

In September 2017, a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court gave an interim order, which awarded custody of the child to the mother following disagreements between the duo and their families.  While Eniola was given unrestricted access to the child, he was, however, asked to pick her every Friday and return her to the mother on Sunday. The arrangement was said to have been running smoothly until on May 18 when the father allegedly took Athena from school.

Falana and Falana Chambers, which is representing Damilola, said Eniola’s action was “tantamount to abduction" in a petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi. The law firm explained that the violation of the court order could result in a breach of the peace, urging Imohimi to bring Eniola to book.

The petition read in part,

“On Friday, May 18, 2018, our client dropped off Athena at school (Marymount School, Rachael Nwagwu Street, Lekki) around 8.30am, as usual. About 2pm same day, our client returned to the said school to pick up her daughter. To our client’s dismay, the school told her that Mr Eniola Adenuga in company with some mobile policemen came to the school and forcefully took Athena away without her school bag.

“Our client immediately called Mr Eniola Adenuga to find out why he took the child away without her consent, contrary to the order of court that our client remain in custody of Athena and access given to Mr Adenuga every week from Friday to Sunday in company with Athena’s nanny.

“Mr Adenuga did not take the calls or respond to message sent to him by our client till date, safe for his one sentence response that he had taken Athena. Till date, our client does not know the whereabouts of Athena and has confirmed from the school that Athena is not in school.

“Our client is distressed as the conduct of Mr Eniola Adenuga is likely to cause a breach of public peace.”

A family source also alleged that Damilola was traumatized, following the incident allegedly orchestrated by Mike Adenuga's son.

“The arrangement was that the mother picked the child from school and Eniola takes her from the mother. On that day, the mother was told that Eniola came to the school and took her.

“Since that time, the school authorities said they had been sending her homework to the father through email. All efforts the mother made to reach him had been abortive. The only time he responded, he merely said he had switched custody to himself. We are talking about a three-year-old girl that has never been without her mother for this long. The mother is a pharmacist who has her own source of livelihood" the source said.

While Damiola confirmed the incident but declined further comment, Eniola, when contacted on Tuesday by Punch's correspondent, promised to call back.

CrimeLekki Doctor Flogs, Orders Nurse To Kneel Down by Letenwam(op): 7:03am On Jun 22, 2018
A Lekki Doctor identified as Emmanuel Okolo, has been accused of assaulting a nurse, Dorcas Adeyera in an incident which occurred at Awoyaya Hospital and Maternity Centre, Ibeju Lekki.

The assault stemmed from the treatment of a patient rushed into the medical facility in the early hours of Monday. The Lekki doctor who blamed Adeyera for admitting the accident victim without his consent, reportedly summoned the 23-year-old into his office and ordered her to kneel down.

However when the nurse refused, the 35-year-old doctor was alleged to have dealt her several slaps and also flogged her with a belt. Recounting the incident in her report to the medical director of the hospital, Adeyera disclosed that she was humiliated by Okolo.

Her report read in part;

“Around 2am, there was an emergency outside the hospital. I stepped out to have a clear look at the patient, who was said to have been involved in an accident and already fractured a bone in his left leg.

“The patient was conscious and alert; no obvious respiratory distress, but seemed to be in severe pain. I went back inside the hospital to notify the doctor on call, Dr Okolo Emmanuel, and immediately went back to move the patient inside the hospital.

“On getting there, I noticed that my colleague, who is a registered nurse and midwife, had already offered the patient a stretcher and the man’s relatives were trying to get the patient on it. Then, I noticed that the patient and his relatives were Hausas, and the people that brought him in a car were just helpers. Immediately they dropped the patient on the stretcher, they zoomed off.

“Back inside the hospital, Dr Okolo, who had been to the emergency room, saw the patient being carried towards him. He suddenly got angry and asked why the nurse didn’t allow him to see the patient first before bringing him into the hospital. He pointed at me, blaming me for it and said I should get out of his sight, which I did immediately; only for him to get angrier and ordered the patient to be taken out of the hospital as he was not ready to attend to him.”

Adeyera said she left for the pharmacy after asking the patient to leave the premises, after the Lekki doctor instructed her to ensure the order was carried out.

“I left for the pharmacy with the hope that the patient’s relatives will source a means of leaving, only for the doctor to come in a few minutes later and dragged me into his office.

“I was shocked and tried to remove my hands from his hold; but he was too fierce.

“In his office, he told me to get down on my knees (kneel down) to which I declined as it was against the ethics of my profession to do that in uniform. He gave me the first hard slap and repeated his order; I refused and called my colleague for help.

“I tried to get out of his office, but he dragged me back and reached for his belt and started flogging me until the security men and my colleague came and tried to hold him. He said I was rude and he was not my age-mate.

“I tried explaining to the security men what had happened, but he did not allow me to speak out. He reached for the sphygmomanometer and was about using it to hit my head when the security men took it from his hand and another round of slaps on my cheeks followed. This time around, I fell on the floor and he started punching me,” she added.

However when contacted on the telephone,  the Lekki Doctor declined comment.

“I cannot speak right now; I am with my lawyers,” he said.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Chike Oti, also confirmed that the incident has been reported, as he also added that the police were looking for the suspect.

The Oyo State Police command have arrested a robbery suspect, Yemi Lawa, who claimed he attended a church vigil in the Alakia area of Ibadan, Oyo State, but left soon after the programme began to burgle a house.

The robbery suspect who was paraded alongside 23 others at the state command headquarters in the Eleyele area of Ibadan on Thursday,  by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude was accused of  entering the house through the bathroom and stealing stole laptops, mobile phones, documents and Automated Teller Machine cards.

“About 10pm on June 6, 2018, Lawa, 25, broke into the residence of Ajayi Gbadebo in the Alakeia area of Ibadan through the bathroom and stole laptops, mobile telephones, ATM cards and vital documents.  Following a report lodged at the Egbeda Police Division, detectives swung into action and commenced discreet investigation. The diligent investigation led to the arrest of Lawa and recovery of all the stolen items" the police Commissioner said.

Confessing to the crime, the suspect said he was looking for food to eat when he broke into the house but ended up stealing the items recovered from him.

“I went in through the bathroom door and saw the laptops on the chair and took them. I knew that the house was always shut, so I went there at night. The church I attended is beside the house. I attended a church vigil, but left to rob the house.

“I was hungry, so my intention was to grab some food in the house and eat. I studied public administration and graduated from a polytechnic in 2014. I have since then been looking for a job without success" he said.

The State Police PRO Adekunle Ajisebutu, who also spoke to newsmen also noted that not all those who attended church vigils did so for religious reasons.

He said,  “Some robbers join the congregation to carry out unholy activities.”

CrimeDriver Arrested While Praying For Forgiveness After Stealing N10m Goods by Letenwam(op): 5:56am On Jun 22, 2018
The Lagos State Police command have arrested a factory driver, Dominic Nege, for reportedly stealing goods valued at N10.3m.

The driver's trouble began on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, when he was sent to deliver 143 crates of beer at Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos. The suspect reportedly switched off his phone and diverted the goods which belonged to Rabel Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of International Breweries.

All efforts to locate him proved abortive and the case was reported to the police. Parading the suspect, the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi said operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad arrested the suspect in Benue State.

He said, “Efforts to arrest the suspect paid off on Monday, June 11, 2018, when he was traced to Makurdi, Benue State. During interrogation, the suspect led detectives to the Sangotedo area of Ibeju Lekki, where the Mitsubushi truck, with number plate, JJJ 873 XJ, was abandoned after he had disposed of the goods.”

It was gathered that when Nege’s employer checked his profile, it was discovered that he falsified the information he gave, including that of his guarantor. The driver who confessed to the crime, said he lost his peace after diverting the goods.

“I was arrested inside a church in Benue State. I was in the church to pray for forgiveness and confess to the pastor because I did not have peace of mind.

“I sold the crates of drink by going to people’s shops. I told them that the company had organised a promo. I sold one crate of beer, which cost N1,900, for N1,800. But those who bought five crates were given one extra crate.

“So people showed interest and ordered for some crates on credit. I even gave a man about 89 crates of beer on credit. He later paid me N30,000" he said.

Also confirming the arrest of the driver, his boss Jacob Audu, said he employed the suspect out of pity.

He said, “We asked him to transfer products from one of our warehouses to another one. After about three hours, we didn’t see him. We suspected something was wrong and reported to the police.

“I helped him because we are from the same state. Despite what he has done, I will continue to help people. He is just another confused young Nigerian that thinks that stealing is the best way to the top. But if he gets out of the system with a reformed mind, I can still give him a second chance. But for now, he should be charged to court as a deterrent to others.”

CrimeFive Tenants Defile, Impregnate Landlord’s 12-year-old Daughter by Letenwam(op): 7:56pm On Jun 11, 2018
Two men out of the five tenants who reportedly defiled their deceased landlord's 12-year-old daughter and got her pregnant, were arraigned before an Lagos State High Court in Igbosere on Monday.

Speaking at the trial of two of the suspects, 30-year-old Shaibu Isiaka and 34-year-old John Obah who were brought by the police before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court in 2014 on a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful sexual intercourse, the prosecution witness, Sergeant Afeez Idowu, who was led in evidence by prosecution counsel Mr Adebayo Haroun, told Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya,  that the girl in company of her mother identified Isiaka and Obah among the five men who defiled her on separate occasions.

Idowu said:

“The girl said that whenever she was sent to buy things like sweet, the first defendant Isiaka, usually asked her to keep the change and that whenever her mother was not around, the first defendant would have sexual intercourse with her on her mother’s matrimonial bed.

“She said that Obah, the second defendant, was the first person to defile her. She was 12 years old when they defiled and impregnated her.”

Though the suspects pleaded not guilty, however Idowu disclosed that the tenants, without coercion, admitted the crime at the Police Divisional Headquarters at Oworonshoki.

Idowu added: “During investigation, Obah admitted that he had sexual intercourse with the victim, he also claimed that when he discovered that she was having sexual intercourse with the first defendant and his brothers, he left her.”

He further told Justice Ogunsanya that Isiaka also admitted that he and his brothers, who were squatting with him, had sexual intercourse with the girl.

Idowu added: “When we discovered that the girl’s stomach began to protrude, the police gave her mother a letter to take to a hospital, where a test confirmed that she was pregnant.”

A five-month-old baby girl, Rachael Karungi, who was kidnapped by a troupe of chimpanzees, was reportedly rescued by members of the Kyamajaka village, Muhorro town council, Uganda, on Sunday.

The mother of the little girl, Oliver Kemigisa who confirmed the incident which she said occurred a few minutes after 5pm on Sunday when she was preparing dinner at their home, told Newsvision that she had left the baby with another baby in the verandah, while she moved a few meters away to cook.

The lady revealed that after she heard the babies crying, she turned around and saw over 20 chimpanzees surrounding the babies. According to her, one had already picked Karungi and the others also aiming at the three-year-old boy as he cried. Kemigisa said she wrestled with the chimpanzees for the boy as she raised an alarm. She managed to save the boy, but the primates ran away with Karungi.

“When I saw that they (chimpanzees) wanted to take my other child, I became firm and fought them. That is how I saved the boy,” said Kemigisa.

She said that Karungi was taken into the nearby bush, but residents turned up immediately and began chasing them. The animals had hidden the baby in the grass after removing the skirt she was wearing.

When the baby was discovered, she was unconscious and was immediately rushed to Muhorro Health center III where she is currently admitted. She said that on a daily basis these chimpanzees traverse the area in search of food and they usually chase people.

This is coming after it was reported that a newborn, who was sleeping under a mosquito net at his home in eastern India, was scooped by a monkey who carried him away. The mother told authorities that she watched helplessly as the animal invaded their home over the weekend in a village in Banki, Odisha, and took her days-old son, according to Agence France-Presse.

PoliticsNigerians To Pay More For Cigarettes, Alcohol From Today by Letenwam(op): 5:32am On Jun 04, 2018
The new excise duty rates approved by President Muhammadu Buhari in March, will come into effect today as consumers of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (cigarettes) are expected to pay more from today.

Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun said the new excise duty rates will spread over a three-year period from 2018 to 2020 in order to moderate the impact on prices of the products.

According to her, the Nigerian government had granted a grace period of 90 days to all manufacturers before the commencement of the new excise duty regime in that sector of the economy.

The Minister who noted that the upward review of the excise duty rates for alcoholic beverages and tobacco was to achieve a dual benefit of raising the government’s fiscal revenues, and reducing the health hazards associated with tobacco-related (cigarettes) diseases and alcohol abuse, also added that the new excise duty regime followed all-inclusive stakeholder engagements by the Tariff Technical Committee of the Federal Ministry of Finance with key industry stakeholders.

“The Tariff Technical Committee recommended the slight adjustment in the excise duty charges after cautious considerations of the government’s fiscal policy measures for 2018 and the reports of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund’s Technical Assistance Mission on Nigeria’s fiscal policy.

“The effect of the excise duty rates adjustment on trade and investment was also assessed by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, and it adopted the recommendations of the TTC.

“Furthermore, peer country comparisons were also carried out showing Nigeria as being behind the curve in the review of excise duty rates on alcoholic beverages and tobacco" she said.

The minister added that the current ad-valorem rate would be replaced with specific rates and spread over three years to moderate the impact on prices, to curb the discretion in the unit cost analysis for determining the ad-valorem rate and prevent revenue leakages.

Punch reported that under the newly approved excise duty rates for tobacco, she said in addition to the 20 per cent ad-valorem rate, each stick of cigarette would attract a N1 specific rate (N20 per pack of 20 sticks) in 2018; a N2 specific rate per stick (N40 per pack of 20 sticks) in 2019 and a N2.90k specific rate per stick (N58 per pack of 20 sticks) in 2020. The new specific excise duty rate for alcoholic beverages cuts across beer and stout, wines and spirits for the period 2018 to 2020

CelebritiesSunday Oliseh Said I Was Too Soft For Super Eagles – William Troost-ekong by Letenwam(op): 10:26am On Jun 02, 2018
Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong who made his debut for Nigeria in 2015 and has gone on to make 19 appearances for the Super Eagles, in an interview on Thursday disclosed that former Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh had doubts about his ability to play well for Nigeria when he was first called-up to the team.

According to 24-year-old Williams Troost-Ekong who was pivotal as the Super Eagles became the first African team to qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup after forming a solid partnership with German-born defender Leon Balogun, said he was disappointed when he was told by former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh that he was not physically capable of playing in Africa.

“There were a lot of doubts over me because I did not play for a big team in Holland before my first call-up. Then, on top of that, being ‘Oyibo’, or half-white, you have to prove yourself even more.

“My partner at centre-back (new Brighton signing Leon Balogun) is half-German, half-Nigerian, so he is the same as me. After a game, he (Oliseh) said we were too soft to play against African players. That upset me, because one of my traits as a player is that I am someone who does not back away from anyone. I am not the most skilful, but I know what I am good at.

“I think that’s part of being from different countries, different cultures. It’s not nice when people try to use that against you. I identify myself as being Nigerian as well, and I feel at home in the team. Not once have I ever looked around and thought ‘this is not for me’. But it spurred me on. I have played against African strikers since then and no one has bullied me. I have proven my point" he said.

William Troost-Ekong earlier this year became the third African player to commit one per cent of his salary to charity as part of Juan Mata’s Common Goal project. He is born to a Nigerian father and Dutch mother. His fiancée is in England – expecting their first child.

Politics'don’t Contest Presidency Till After 2019' -buhari Tells Youths by Letenwam(op): 5:33am On Jun 01, 2018
Just after signing the 'Not too young to run' bill, Nigeria's President Buhari who had already indicated interest in seeking a fresh four-year mandate in 2019, made an appeal to Nigerian youths  at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Though the age limits for senators and state governors were not reduced as originally proposed by the sponsors of the bill, however it reduces the eligible age for those seeking to be members of the state Houses of Assembly and House of Representatives from 30 to 25 years; and those aspiring to be President from 40 to 35 years.

However President Buhari told Nigerian youths who might be eyeing his seat, to postpone their campaigns till after the 2019 presidential election.

“I am confident each one of you will transform Nigeria in your own way – whether through the media, agricultural enterprise, as economists, engineers, or as lawmakers in your states or at the federal level, or as state governors – and even someday, as President. Why not?

“But please, can I ask you to postpone your campaigns till after the 2019 elections!” Buhari told the excited youths who thronged the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa to witness the signing of the bill.

President Buhari who described the new law as a landmark piece of legislation that was conceived, championed and accomplished by young Nigerians, added that the day was a significant one for all Nigerians, and most especially the nation’s youths – and the role they play in the nation’s democracy, politics and national life.

“The coordinators of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Movement have now established a formidable legacy – which is that, in our maturing democracy, if you really want to change something in Nigeria, and if you can organise yourselves and work hard towards it – you can achieve it. The outcome of such efforts is this remarkable feat.

“These efforts have resulted in the heroic task of enshrining in law, a reduction of the minimum age for elective offices in Nigeria,” the President added.

The Nigerian President also expressed surprise that that the age limits for senators and state governors were not reduced, as originally proposed by the sponsors of this bill. Punch reported that he said it was an issue that needed to be addressed in future.

CrimePoliceman Guarding Lagos Hotel Kills UNIZIK Graduate by Letenwam(op): 5:19am On Jun 01, 2018
A tragic incident occurred around 11pm on Wednesday, as it was gathered that a Policeman guarding Ileviaoje Hotel in the Ijegun, Ikotun area of Lagos State, reportedly shot dead a 28-year-old UNIZIK Graduate identified as Jude Okoronta.

Before the incident occurred, the UNIZIK Graduate who was waiting for a motorcycle to take him home as he stood in front of the hotel, reportedly had a fight with the yet-to-be-identified policeman, who shot him dead.

An eyewitness who spoke to Punch's correspondent said;

“When the men came out of the hotel, they continued their fight. The mobile policeman locked the hotel gate to prevent people from entering.

“The man shot into the air to scare away the crowd that had gathered in front of the hotel because of the fight. The bullet hit the man that was waiting for okada (motocycle) to take him home.

“The man that died was not among the people fighting. He was hit by a bullet and died on the spot.”

The brother of the deceased on his own part said that his brother who had gone out of the hotel and was heading home when the fight broke out in the hotel, as a customer at the hotel. Paul who accused the management of the hotel of keeping mum over the incident, also accusing the police of seeking to bury the case, said;

“He had been going to the hotel for months now; he was one of their customers. Because we usually have power problems, we also sometimes go there to charge our phones and relax. But he had left the hotel when he was shot and killed.”

“The management of the hotel is trying to bury the case. That was why they called the police to secure the hotel. They want to scare people away so that they can forget about it.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident said,

“Two guys got into an argument and a mobile policeman around tried to settle them. But one of them, called Jude, attempted to snatch the policeman’s gun.

“In fact, they struggled for the gun for a long time. He tried to wrest the gun from the policeman’s hand and the bullet went off.”

He, however, added that investigation was ongoing into the matter.

CrimePolice Arrest Four Men Using Sick People As Beggars by Letenwam(op): 9:43pm On May 28, 2018
Four men who allegedly specialised in using an unregistered organisation to defraud people under the guise of soliciting funds for sick people and the disabled, have been paraded by the Lagos State Police.

The suspects who were paraded by the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, CP Edgal Imohimi, reportedly pretended to be gathering money from the public for the treatment of sick people but eventually diverted the funds they realised.

“On May 27, about 8:00 p.m, an NGO based in Lagos informed the Police about the illegal activities of an unregistered NGO that operates as a body that helps people with debilitating illnesses to raise funds for their treatment.

“Detectives found one Jacob Monday from Obi Local Government Area of Benue State who said that the so-called NGO brought him to Lagos under the pretence that they will assist him in raising money to tackle his health challenge.

“They promised to help him secure fund for a hernia operation but ended up putting him on the streets of Lagos to beg for money for the past three months.

“The worst is that all the money realised from the begging activity was given to the group leaders who lodged in hotels.

“However, painstaking search for the group heads led to the arrest of one of the leaders and three other associates.

“They were identified by the victim as members of the fake NGO,” he said.

Punch reported that the police Boss added that the suspects, would be charged to court as soon as investigations into the case are concluded.

Here's what he wrote below;

For those brainless cells who
couldn’t grasp why I told Linda Ikeji
to forget about Marriage. They don’t make men like they use to. Most young men are just looking for someone to pay their bills. Linda been burnt so many times by useless wayo men parading themselves as prospective husbands. Most good men are already taken. Most men don’t have the confidence to live with an already made Woman. Most women desire a very strong man, who can take charge and take care. Marriage very soon will no longer be fashionable, because most people can’t cope. Marriage is a good thing if you’re lucky, but no be for everybody joor.

One of my daughter’s has been a single
mother after leaving a very abusive marriage.
She is the best Mum I know and doing well for herself.
Marriage can only work for two people who
understand that marriage is a lot of
discipline and hard work.
It’s not a tea party.
Even some so called “Men of God” cant hold
down a marriage.

I have managed to survive almost 40yrs
with the same woman, no be sey e sweet like dat,
so Mumu men should
go think about their life.
It takes two to tango.
Leave Linda alone biko. Go face ur life.

Crime'we Rape For Fun' - Naval Officer, Twin Brothers Arrested For Robbery Says by Letenwam(op): 6:47am On May 25, 2018
28-year-old Naval officer Jimoh Adesoye, was arrested alongside his twin brothers, and 12 other suspects by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Oyo State Police Command for robbery and receiving stolen goods.

The State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, who paraded the suspects before newsmen said the Naval officer used his uniform and position to transport vehicles snatched by the criminal gang to buyers.

“The lance corporal often used his position and uniform to transport vehicles snatched by the gang and helped dispose of the stolen vehicles. The gang, which is also on the wanted list of SARS in Lagos and Kwara states, was responsible for the spate of armed robbery and car snatching along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Expressway, Oyo State, Lagos, Kwara and other states in the South-West. Six of the suspects were initially arrested at their hideout in the Ilasa area of Ogbomoso by SARS unit, Ogbomoso, following credible intelligence by the command’s strategic partners.

“The modus operandi of the suspects was to go about kidnapping people, robbing them and sexually abusing female victims.

“The suspects abducted one Rasak Michael and his girlfriend, Rashidat, at the Mobil area on Oluyole Estate, Ibadan on April 31, 2018, and took them to a hotel where they were kept till the next day.

“While in captivity, the suspects took turns to rape the female victim and videotaped the sexual escapade for purpose of blackmail in the future. The suspects also stole the victims’ ATM cards having forcefully obtained the PIN numbers of the cards and unlawfully withdrew large sums of money from their bank accounts" he said.

CelebritiesComic Actor, Saka, Celebrates His 15th Wedding Anniversary With Emotional Post by Letenwam(op): 6:36am On May 25, 2018
Nigerian comic actor, Saka celebrated his 15th wedding anniversary yesterday and his emotions was all out in the post he penned down on Instagram as he took a walk down the memory lane.

Saka who recounted how a lady he proposed to calculated his worth and gave him some conditions before marriage, said;

'I thought I had a pretty good idea of what a woman is. But when it was time for me to find my own woman, it dawned on me that a woman is not a man. In my search, I came across a lady who was edging me on, making me to belief she loved “me”. Well, I decided to propose. She had listened quietly with encouraging countenance on her face. I went on to fantasy on how our “coming together” would be the best thing that could happen to us. Then... "Are you sure you are ready?" "YES" I answered. "Where is your car?" "I will get one soon." "If eventually you are able to get a car God knows when, wont you go to work with the car?" I noded proudly "So when I get married to YOU I Will be jumping on public buses" I read her lips.

She had simply told me that I have to offer Me+ 2cars at least before she could say "yes" I needed no Imam to tell me she wasn't my wife. I decided to face my career and leave “woman palava” until I met this woman who my mind told me had been searching for me. After "toasting” her we became friends. My brotherly friend Gbenga Windapo was the Gardner who kept watering the flower of the friendship. One day a voice came "Hafiz Mumu you no go propose abi na when Jesus come back you go do am" So I proposed. She was silent for some minutes.

I thought I saw her looking me over! Ye! This one too was calculating my worth. My God! What will this one ask? Then... "YES!" I had thought it was a voice in me that spoke in such audible voice. But the assurance on her gentle beautiful face assured me I had heard her voice and I heard her right. She never asked what I could offer before she could agree to be my wife. I remembered then I was living in a “room and parlour” portion in a civilian barrack where we used general toilet and kitchen. This woman stood by me. She has never wavered in helping me achieve my dream, our dream our future! She had taught me what womanhood is. A woman is a divine catalyst for achieving future dreams.
This day May 24th 15 years ago Olaide said YES and became Mrs Oyetoro my darling wife; OLOMI ATATA .May ALLAH grant us the grace to witness many years alive in excellent health and HIS divine favour. ... IT IS WELL' Saka wrote.
