Due to western invasion, we mostly loose connection with our local dialects and have embraced foreign languages thereby relegating our mothers tongue. Research has shown that with this speed, before the next 50 years our mother tongue will be spoken by very few among the elites in Nigeria.

That's why Prince Osisioma Foundation team in collaboration with Anambra State Broadcasting services went around town interacting with people on the streets and asking them various questions in their mother tongue.

We encourage all to embrace their language be you Igbo, Hausa, yoruba, igala, ibibio and so many other languages in Nigeria.

Renowned Nigerian philanthropist, Founder and President of Prince Osisioma Foundation, Prince Dr Onyeka Nnadozie Eze (Osisioma Gburugburu) is plus one today, 9th January 2020.

Prince Onyeka Eze (Osisioma Gburugburu), a happily married father of four children (two sets of twins), hails from Ukpo, in Dunukofia LGA, Anambra State, Awka.

Back in 2019, he made national headlines when, through his innovative non-governmental institution Prince Osisioma Foundation, he made sustainable impact on humanity by renovating prison cells for inmates at the Awambia Prisons in Anambra State and empowered them with money, food, skills and trainings.

He also has, on many occasions, made countless donations to motherless babies, orphanage homes across Nigeria to share gifts, relief materials and donations that will further promote humanity in Nigeria.

December 2019, he distributed 500 bags of rice to widows in Nigeria.

He also has over 500 students on scholarships in various tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Prince Dr Onyeka Nnadozie Eze is a devoted and committed humanitarian, who has several projects to alleviate suffering and further promote the value of human lives through skills acquisition and empowerment in Nigeria.'

He founded his foundation, Osisioma Foundation, which today serves as a platform for youth empowerment, education, harnessing talents while “promoting self-reliance and self-fulfillment as well as reduction of unemployment in the society in 2015.

When he was asked during an interview what his aims and objectives for setting up Osisioma foundation were, Prince Onyeka Eze replied:

We wish to lend a helping hand to the less privileged and also create youth Empowerment.

Friends and well wishers have sent countless congratulatory messages to Dr. Eze, stating his several life changing projects on education, social change and empowerment.

The Season 6 of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) bumper reward scheme tagged FCMB Millionaire Promo, has come to an exciting end with the grand finale draw.

At the end of the promo, which ran from March to October this year, another set of 16 lucky customers of the Bank emerged as millionaires by winning cash ranging from N1million to N2million.

In addition, 2,560 others won LED televisions, generating sets, decoders, tablets and smart phones.

The winners emerged through electronic selection of all qualified customers at the colourful grand finale draw of the promo held at the four regions and nineteen zones that make up FCMB across Nigeria on November 27, 2019.

It had in attendance officials of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Consumer Protection Council, thousands of customers of the Bank and other top dignitaries. The first draw of the promo was held in May this year, followed by the second in July and the third in September.

At each of the draws, 644 qualified customers won cash of N1million and other exciting prizes.

Nwachukwu Chigozie emerged winner of N2million at the South-East & South-South regional draw held in Umuahia, Abia state, just as Yetunde Olubanwo got the reward of the same amount at the South-West regional draw in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state.

The winners were unanimous in commending FCMB for sustaining and boosting its support to customers through various empowerment opportunities, including the millionaire promo.

The 2019 edition of the COPA Lagos Beach Soccer Tournament, sponsored by First City Monument Bank (FCMB) came to an exciting end on Sunday, November 3, with a commitment by the Bank to sustain its support to initiatives that promote youths, sports and overall national development. This marks the eighth consecutive year that FCMB has sponsored the tournament.

The assurance was given by the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Bank, Mr. Adam Nuru, at the closing ceremony. According to him, the Bank’s intervention in the area of sports using COPA as a vehicle is aimed at developing the minds, body and abilities of the populace, especially youths to contribute significantly to the growth of the country’s sports and tourism sectors.

The FCMB MD said, "the COPA Lagos Beach soccer tournament provides a platform to bring our customers, Nigerians, soccer fans, families, local and international soccer beach players and other stakeholders together in an atmosphere of relaxation, excitement and bonding, very important factors for healthy living and nation building. This tournament has become one of the most exciting events towards the end of every year. We will continue to remain a strong supporter of initiatives that will create opportunities and equip our youths for a bright future’’, Mr. Nuru, said.

The 3-day soccer, music and other entertainment fiesta, organised by Kinetic Sports Limited, was held at Eko Atlantic Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos and featured the national beach soccer teams of Nigeria, Brazil, Senegal and England. There was also a Club Challenge involving three Nigerian Clubs, namely Pepsi Football Academy, Kebbi Beach Soccer Club, Gidi Sharks of Lagos and Ghana-based Sunset Sports Club. In the national teams’ category, Senegal emerged champions after winning all three matches to secure nine points. Nigeria came second with six points, Brazil was third with three points, while England was fourth with no point. In the club challenge, Sunset Stars of Keta, Ghana, took home the trophy. The Most Valuable Player of the tournament was Lansana Diassy of Senegal.

Also speaking on the tournament, the Group Head, Corporate Affairs, FCMB, Mr. Diran Olojo, stated that, ‘’beach Soccer has become more popular in Nigeria, riding on the Copa Lagos tournament. We believe that our sponsorship of the event in the last eight years, has helped to raise the profile of the game going by the large turnout of spectators and dignitaries that watched the football matches and participated in other lifestyle events associated with it’’. 

Apart from the excitement FCMB built around the football matches, which went a long way to make the tournament fun-filled and memorable, spectators and other guests had the opportunity to experience the unique banking services of the Bank. The fan zone of FCMB was a beehive of activities with various games and rewards for winners, courtesy of the Bank. There was a music concert organised by FCMB that featured popular hip-hop musician, Mayorkun (real name Adewale Emmanuel), and other top-rated entertainers.
 
Commenting on this year’s tournament, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos state, expressed excitement at the growing status of beach soccer in Nigeria and the support provided by corporate bodies like FCMB.

Atiku and Buhari have been  found missing from tonight's Presidential debate, which they were expected to partake in alongside 3 other candidates. 

Just before the national anthem was performed by Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo, three other Presidential Candidates; Kingsley Moughalu, Fela Durotoye and Oby Ezekwesili were the only debaters spotted. 

This is coming after Atiku who just returned from the United States, stated that he won't be participating in the Presidential debate if President Buhari who held political rallies in Niger and Plateau States today is absent. This disclosure came after Prof Itse Sagay claimed that Buhari won't be gaining anything from debating with other candidates, he described as motivational speakers.

President Buhari almost slumped at the Kaduna rally for his 2019 re-election yesterday, few days after a similar incident played out in Kogi State.

According to political columnist, Prof. Farooq Kperogi, Buhari who had a couch as his aid this time is showing signs of 'dementia'. He wrote as he shared the video;

Seun Kuti in a new Instagram post, slammed parents attending political rallies while their kids are at home due to ASUU Strike. Seun Kuti who stated that a hijab crisis in a secular school can create more outrage than the closure of our university, wondered if parents attending political rallies while their kids are at home due to ASUU strike are mad. 

He wrote; 

“Your children aren't attending school but u are attending political rally. Are you maaaad?

Until we are ready to serve our children and not just raise them, we shall never understand national development. Davido who sat for an interview with DJ Abass in London, disclosed that he doesn't know who Kemi Olunloyo, a comment that got the attention of the controversial journalist.

A 20-year old man, Sadique Ahmed, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for killing his friend over a sewing machine. 

The man who stabbed his friend and fellow tailor, Babangida Umar, 20, in the neck for using his sewing machine without his permission, reportedly committed the said offence at Zango area within the Bauchi metropolis.

Speaking to a Punch correspondent, the father of the deceased, Umar Mohammed, said he was at the market square when one of his children broke the sad news to him.

“I was sitting with my friends at the market after the Sahur prayers on Saturday, when the younger brother to the deceased ran to meet me and told me that I should come home because Sara Suka (political thugs) had killed Babangida.

“On my way home, I met some people carrying him to the hospital; so, we stopped a tricycle and we rushed him to the hospital. But I believe at that time he had died.

“Honestly, I was not happy at all; I was very sad when I heard the news. My mind was really troubled but I accept it as destiny.

“The boy, who committed this act, is my son’s friend until a misunderstanding happened between them" he said. 

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kamal Abubabakar, who confirmed the incident which occurred on January 5, 2019, said three suspects, including the prime suspect, had been arrested in connection with the incident. Others arrested in connection with the crime are Mamman Adamu (25) and Adamu Isa (18).

Bukola Saraki’s residence was reportedly attacked by political thugs, reportedly working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State on Sunday

The Agbaji Ilorin family residence of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, was attacked by the thugs who allegedly opened fire on residents of the area, wounding at least 11 persons in the process.

50 cars parked at various locations within Agbaji Quarters was also destroyed by the thugs, and it was learnt that a similar incident occurred last Thursday at Agbajiole and Pakata areas of Ilorin metropolis.

According to eyewitnesses, the armed APC thugs led by Yahaya Seriki and Musbau Esinrogunjo stormed their area at about 11:30am, and shot sporadically into the air to scare people away. 11 people who allegedly sustained injuries from gunshots, were taken to General Hospital, Ilorin and a private medical facility for treatment.

President of Agbaji Development Association, Alhaji Musa Olanrewaju Yusuf, said;

“The APC thugs came around 11:30am and shot sporadically into the air. In fact, they were provided cover by the DPO Adewole Division of Police. At least, 11 people received injuries from gunshots while about 50 cars including that of Imam Aliagan were destroyed.

“The thugs also carted away four motorbikes and stole money and jewelry from shops deserted by their owners”.
