A cart pusher identified as Yakubu Abubakar, reportedly killed a 49-year-old labourer, Sunday Godwin during a fight in the Orile area of Lagos State. The labourer, an indigene of Bayelsa State was stabbed in the neck at Eleganza Plaza, Alaba Suru, Orile by the cart pusher for pestering him over a N200 change. The suspect who carried some loads for a firm around the plaza which Godwin worked with last Saturday and was reportedly paid through the deceased, was supposed to give N200 change to Godwin, but he refused. It was gathered that after requesting for the change from Abubakar to no avail, an argument eventually broke out between Godwin and Abubakar over the change which degenerated into a scuffle. However after the cart pusher stabbed Godwin in the neck, he fled the scene leaving the victim in a pool of blood. A trader in the area, who identified himself simply as Yusuf, said Godwin was rushed to a private hospital in Orile, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. “Abubakar was a cart pusher while Godwin worked as a labourer in a firm around Eleganza Plaza. On that day, the firm asked Godwin to get a cart pusher to join him in carrying some loads. When they were done, Godwin paid him. I did not know how much they agreed on and the amount he paid him, but I learnt Abubakar was supposed to return N200 change. “The man (Godwin) asked for the change but it appeared Abubakar was not ready to return the change. After a while, Godwin insisted that he wanted to collect the change without any further delay. That was how an argument started between them. There were some pieces of broken tiles in front of a shop where tiles are being sold. Abubakar picked one and stabbed Godwin in the neck. He bled to death before he got to the hospital while Abubakar ran away” the trader said. The policemen who were deployed to the area, arrested five persons for aiding the escape of the suspect and a manhunt has been launched for him. https://lailasnews.com/cart-pusher-kills-labourer-over-n200-change-in-lagos/ lalasticlala

Nigerian billionaire kidnapper, Evans who is still undergoing trial for the crimes he committed, has been accused by one of his victims, James Uduji of giving him tetanus injections for seven days to treat the gun wounds he sustained during his abduction. According to the businessman, he was abducted on September 7, 2015 by four armed men on his way home from his factory at Agbara, Ogun State and Evans drove the Lexus 470 SUV. Evans who is standing for two separate charges, bordering on conspiracy to kidnap, kidnapping and attempted murder, stood for trial alongside Joseph Emeka, Ugochukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba in the first charge. Uduji also told the court that the kidnappers later called a doctor on the telephone who treated his bullet wound at their destination. Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth is a year older today and Banky W took a walk down the memory lane as he celebrated him on his big day. Banky W who thanked Basketmouth for being a true friend through his cancer battle wrote; Almost a year ago, I was recovering from Cancer surgery in the US. It was a trying time for me.. for weeks I could barely move, I had tubes running out of my back draining blood, I was on so many pain meds and even then EVERYthing still hurt like hell. And one day out of the blue, Basketmouth called me to see how I was doing. He knew I was in the US but I hadn't told him about the surgery. We'd been friends for a long time, so when he sensed something was up, I told him what I was dealing with. Now at the time, he was on tour, while also visiting/caring for his family.. but as soon as he heard the details, he insisted on coming to visit me the next day before flying to Texas. He asked if I needed anything and I said no, but he kept insisting that there must be some groceries in Momsie's house that were finished, or something that I needed from the store that he could bring. He wouldn't take no for an answer so I said okay, pls bring me a bottle of apple juice. My brother got a friend to drive him almost an hour out of their way, and showed up at the front door with like 3 months worth of apple juice. I kid you not. The bottles were MASSIVE. And then he sat with me for a couple hours, before his flight. We talked, he made me laugh, we compared testimonies and war stories, and just spent time catching up. We encouraged each other, and in a period where almost every day was incredibly painful, rough and downright depressing, he was an unexpected ray of sunshine that made me feel so much better. So today I want to thank him for being my friend especially when I really needed one. Sometimes, that strong person who everyone leans on, needs someone to lean on too. He's one of the most gifted & accomplished entertainers I've ever met.. but more importantly, he's one of the kindest. May God bless you and reward you for all you do for others. May your back never be weary from the loads you bear. May your children be greater than you are. May the rest of your years be the best of your years. May your show at EKO HOTEL ON THE 29TH AND 30TH OF SEPT BE SOLD OUT. Honoured to call you my friend. Happy birthday bro. PS: Go get tickets to his show. Nigeria's Speaker House of Representative, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, who sat for a chat with Daily Trust, disclosed that he hated politics, noting that betrayal and backstabbing were the two major factors that clouded his mind from joining it. Yakubu Dogara who revealed why and what lured him into politics during the interview, added that he was never interested in it. “It will surprise you to know that it wasn’t entirely a deliberate choice on my part to go into politics. I was never interested in it. As a matter of fact, I hated politics with a passion because of the betrayal and backstabbing involved. I’d already cut my teeth in the private sector, comfortable in my skin about the future having made some investments that were beginning to yield tangible returns. With that in mind, I thought I needed no career in politics, because of my belief then that those who had a chance of making it in other endeavours shouldn’t have anything to do with politics. Therefore, I had zero interest in politics, generally, much less running for an elective position”, he said. On his plans after the end of his tenure as a speaker, Yakubu Dogara disclosed that he has lost interest in planning the next phase of his life. “I’ve lost interest in planning the next phase of my life. Therefore, my answer to your question is very simple: my training brings me a lot of opportunities for service. When I am done with speakership, I will weigh the opportunities available to me for service and the one that will result in maximum impact on others is the one that I will embrace without equivocation. It is not about what I want to do, but how can I deploy my talents and gifts in ways that will have maximum impact on others. I have no other plan" he said. https://lailasnews.com/i-was-never-interested-in-politics-i-hated-it-yakubu-dogara/

Ace Nollywood actress, Ebube Nwagbo, who is set to launch her new clothing line, has stated that she won’t rush into marriage just to please people, even though she wish to walk down the aisle soon. Ebube Nwagbo who maintained that her upbringing and fear of God has helped her maintain a controversy-free life in an interview with Saturday Beats, added that venturing into business and reading several insightful books had not only helped her become a better woman but also a focused professional. On managing marriage pressures, she said; “The pressure of marriage comes but I am happy for the type of parents and family members I have. They all understand that marriage is not a decision I have to make in a hurry. I try to let everybody know that deciding who to marry has to be done right and at the appropriate time as well. I have learnt to deal with this pressure by not allowing whatever people say to bother me. As a person, I try to be the best that I can. I come from a very strict Christian background. My parents always tell me never to forget where I am coming from and I never forget that. The training they gave me has helped in shaping the woman I am today. Being a star comes with a lot of pains. There are people in the society who want to control your life and make you live in a certain way. But the truth is that you can’t please everyone. Sometimes you have to be yourself and this could be misunderstood. It’s a price we have to pay for being in the limelight.” The actress was linked to Kcee before now, a relationship the singer confirmed. Nolllywood actor Yemi Adeyemi a.k.a Suara in a new interview, recounted how far he has come in the Nigerian movie Industry and his relationship with his father. In the interview with Ademola Olonilua, Suara who recently turned 70 disclosed that his father opposed his acting career at first, but pulled back after he got his first car and apartment. Here are excerpts from the interview with Suara below; We learnt that some herbalists came to pray for you during the week. Don’t you think that it would contradict the fact that you are a Christian? It would not contradict anything. There is a difference between religion and culture; in the same way, there is a difference between ambition and intention. I do not have problems but I have faced challenges in life. What are some of the challenges you faced? One of them is that I never had the intention of marrying more than one wife even though I have never kept more than one wife in my house. However, I have three women who have children for me. When I was younger, an old CAC pastor who is from Ilesha, Osun State, told my father that I was going to marry more than one wife and I would be a ladies’ man. I did not want to have more than one woman in my life; neither did I capitalise on what the pastor said but every other thing the man said came to pass. When things were very tough for me, there was a pastor I went to meet and he told me that the answer to my problem was in the roof of my father’s house. I went there and saw my father’s oracle and it had been there for decades. How come you fell in love with acting when you were as young as six years old at a time when there were barely television sets in Nigeria and only travelling theatre groups entertained the public? My father wanted me to be a policeman because of their daily routine but I loved drumming. We used to have a teacher who taught us home lesson and the only reason I always attended the home lesson was because of entertainment. If we had a drama in December, we would have begun rehearsals since January. When I had my first stage performance, I did so well that people told me I was a genius on stage. They all appreciated me but my father was very angry with me. His maternal grandfather was the Aromolaran of Ilesha. My father vowed that none of his children would become a beggar as that was what he called entertainers. He knew that I loved drumming but he refused to allow me to follow my passion. The ironic thing is that he was the one that made me fall in love with drumming because every Sunday, drummers would come to our house to beat the drums for him and he would interpret what the talking drums said to me. Later, he said he did not want me to become a drummer. Did he ever give you his blessings as regards your career? Shortly after I finished from the University of Ile Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, and began to work at NTA, I was given a car. I went to my father’s house and he was the first person to enter my car. He asked where I got the vehicle from and I told him that it was from doing drama. I made him sit at the back of my car and he was almost prostrating to me, asking me to forgive him. I explained to him that it was a very lucrative career especially if one went to the university to study it. I made him realise that as I left the university, I was on level 8 step 2 and I was given a car. I took him to my apartment as well at GRA Agodi, Ibadan. When he saw the way the apartment was furnished, he was overwhelmed. He was very happy. When he saw my picture with Wole Soyinka, he shouted and asked me about my relationship with the professor, then I told him that Soyinka was our head of department. He asked again if acting was very lucrative and I answered affirmatively. From that day, he became my friend. My father would come to pay me a visit on a Friday and would not leave my house until Sunday. All the other siblings were envious but I did not mind. There was a year I participated in a drama, Omo Odo. In the play, they beat me a lot. Although most of the beatings were scripted, my father was concerned for me after watching the play and he said that they could kill me. After a long while, anytime my father and I discussed about how he opposed my career path, we always laughed. https://lailasnews.com/my-father-apologized-for-opposing-my-acting-career-after-my-first-car-and-apartment-suara/ mynd44

Forty-one alleged prostitutes, 99 per cent of whom are Nigerians, have been arrested by the Weija District Police Command in Ghana. They were arrested around a place called Choice, where several drinking joints operate at night, according to Chief Inspector Diana Eninful, who led the operation. She said the police received several reports from residents in the area about the activities of the prostitutes, which have turned the vicinity into a haven for drug peddlers and armed robbers. Based on the complaints received from residents in the area, the police surveyed and subsequently arrested 41 of the prostitutes, most of whom Chief Inspector Eninful said were Nigerians aged between 18 and 25 years. Eninful added that the prostitutes, sometimes intentionally accuse passers-by of refusing to pay them after allegedly having enjoyed their services, and, so, pounce on such innocent people with the help of their gangs of pimps – a situation she said has brought insecurity to the whole neighbourhood. Fourteen men were also arrested by the police for allegedly soliciting the services of the prostitutes |
