all4naija: The tracks from those artistes album would have been much appreciated and who used to play them among your parents. Thank you.
My mom played Sony Okoson and Christie Esien Igbokwe. My dad introduced me indirectly to Mandators and Bob Marley.
These songs usually wake me up very early in the morning when I'll be getting prepped up for school. The memories never fade.
Just some months back, I went on the Internet to look for some of these songs and couldn't find them. Nigerians don't preserve her heritage very well o.
I couldn't find "Ever Really Like My Person" by Esien Igbokwe online .
It took me more tenacity and skill to get "Seun Rere" online.
Mandators is even worse to find online. The music stores don't have these albums except in mixed compilation with other artists.
all4naija: Human memory is a powerful ability that can bring back the past, both in happy and in sad times and ushers us the calmness of our present life. Sometimes with anger and sometimes in joy. That scintillation of who we are like the brightness of the faraway star yet we ponder what it is as it displays before us. It has been able to distinguish us, by far, from other earthlings and remind us of the past worlds with burst of emotions filling up our colorful sky and brings out the other sides of us. It becomes a literature we coax ourselves to read of what we can be able to gather to learn, filling us with the strength that often swells within us in every narration. Sometimes it comes with warm internal tears. The emotions we really are to life.
Nevertheless, memory of a childhood is what this thread is all about as we get older. Looking back at our parents how they have aged and knowing fully well one day they will be eternally missed. Not only that it defines the meaning of life by taking their place also repeating the same circle of life. Nature has done us so much good and memory is one of them we can arguably say is as interesting as life itself.
For those of you who love your parents, post songs that remind you of them while growing up and how them impact your life.
This thread is dedicated to our parents. It is meant to bring back old memories of growing up as a child through listening to songs they play that make you love them the more each time you listen to the songs.
1) City Kind Of Girl by Dan Seals - My mother used to play this track .
3) Meet Me In Montana by Dan Seals - My mother used to play this song and it brings me a lot memory. It makes me love her the more each time I hear it.
Andy kim: Good morning; Bob Marley : Redemption Song; Sony Okoson: Fire In Soweto; Mandators : Give Us Redemptions; Esien Igbokwe: Seun Rere; and so much more that makes today's music seem dead.
FighterPilot: Bwahahahahahaha… how pathetic are you?
In the battle of Bangui, SA special forces deployed hornets and they were involved in the direct action on the front lines of a fiece battle, Dammy. I enjoy it when I always crash Igbo's flat head
FighterPilot: Lionel is as illiterate as the whole Nigeria. How will one blind man ever guide another? You are as well a lay person in military equipments.
Your illiterate mate as I tested him could not tell a simple answer that SF vehicle is a collective term used to describe rapid deployment reconnaissance vehicle and LA tactical vehicles. Nigeria does not have any of such specialised vehicles other than they converted what was not initially meant for such from various platforms many which were civilian vehicles.
patch up your leaking emotions, phoney pilot. I haven't even started with you and you're already squealing like pig who lost his mom.
Lionel asked you to back your claims by providing a source where S.A has deployed your so called SF vehicles in combat and you have failed.
You represent the backwater educational reality of South Africa. Dummy dum_dum
FighterPilot: That is truly cherry-picking exercise to influence people to believe your one dimensional views. Special forces have various tasks and are not only restricted or limited to clandenstine or secret missions only.
Bin laden was killed on a stealth or clandenstine mission. Special forces perform various tasks including supporting firepower at the front ranks. That's why their specialised vehicles are always armed to the teeth with rockets and heavy machine guns. You should pay me for giving you these lessons.
Lastly, Shekau was never killed by Nigerian special forces because they never existed. Nigeria special forces have less than one year of existence. They were officially established late last year and became fully functional this year 2015.
Please give up the special forces horse_shit. Lionel has totally hammered you to coma. You're a dummy.
JiggamanGh: No dude it was mostly due to low water levels at the dams.
Do your research. Is there for you to see.
What research? Vain banter and denials as usual.
I needn't venture far. Did you digest the post? I did. Here's an excerpt for you. And deductively, it answers all the questions any honest mind can ever ask.
Please read:
Wireku-Brobbey told a Ghanaian news medium that contrary to expectation, the constant power supply in the country is not dependent on the incoming power barges from Turkey. He said, “The problem for us not the arrival or non-arrival of the power barges. As we speak the government owes Nigeria over GHC100 million, which we are yet to settle, and that is the problem that should concern us.”
Currently, Ghana receives in excess of 140 million standard cubic feet per day of gas from Nigeria. The supply, although not enough, has greatly enhanced power supply in the country over the past few weeks.
JiggamanGh: Kanji what? You are retarded. The gas provides less than 15% of ghanas energy. Most of our energy comes from dams in Ghana and others are wind and solar
Less than 15% ? Really? Yet your last load shedding and power crisis was as a result of gas shortages from Nigeria. You always go about telling weak lies. Your central bank governor has also hinted ghana's economic reliance on Nigeria due to ghana's dependence on Nigeria 's gas.
Nigeria, during the Obasanjo first administration, built the gas pipeline through which this gas is being supplied to Ghana for Ghana.
Just learn to say thank you and shut up. Your defence is lousy.
PunkyVeer: Hmmm, wrong door. Can't help you with that one. On that nauseating note, let's call it a wrap.
I do better than Zulus, you can bank your money on that. I'm a West African of the Nigerian specie; your DNA is wired to wait for me
But I think south Africans always feel the need to proof something always. In the military thread and several others, they needlessly throw in pictures as if their lives depend on it.
PunkyVeer: How else are you supposed to back something up/clarify something to a distant audience without pictorial evidence? Unless you have an active 3rd eye, I don't see any other way. And besides, that's strange because all you hear on NL is "Pinshure or..." But when we do just that then again it's a problem. What is it you want?
Nothing momentarily, other than a good south African _fuck. Heard there are lots of hipsters in zulu land. Who's to say I can't scheme one virtually.
Twaci: Its a new day, an added year to the beautiful, jovial and smart sweetheart who in her own little ways do not fail to put a smile on my face, our faces.
With this year comes more blessings, fulfillment, riches, love and ofcourse, longevity. Happy blessed birthday (in arrears) dear and may all your heart desires be granted to you according to God's Will.
all4naija: Somebody like that Vinshu will love her husband so much not to make a little mistake that will allow him divorce her. Claiming feminism on the pages of virtual world is easy not in the bedroom. Go on Vinshu! Bwahaha...
I notice how she careful dodges question or references of her husband. Don't mind her.
All these Internet faceless feminist who are stuck fish in the real world would be forming something else online.
