I thought the Lagos state dress code for public servant was a well-worn issue. Not to mention the numerous dress restrictions by The Nigerian Law School, Churches, banks which are fashioning dress codes to promote the dignity of the human person.

A few years ago, Senators Eme Ufot Ekaete, Ikechukwu Obiora and others, sponsored a Bill at the Senate to Prohibit and Punish Public Nudity, Sexual Intimidation and Related Offences in Nigeria” otherwise called Indecent Dressing Bill or Indecent Exposure Bill.

What exactly dont you understand.
-that cause began time?
-that time serves as a distinction for effect?
-that time measures the durations of events (cause and effect in this case) and the intervals between them?
-that time itself is an effect of a cause?

Your argument is all in favour of an infinite universe. Be more precise pls. Let me take your questions.
Time is used as a starting point for an effect/response in the case of a finite universe.
Stephen Hawking in particular has addressed that even if time did not begin with the Big Bang (an infinite universe like you have proposed) and there were another time frame before the Big Bang, no information from events then would be accessible to "us" (you), and nothing that happened then would have any effect upon the present time-frame. Time preceeds matter, yeah. At a period in time, there was no matter, yeah. What was time used to differentiate between? Simple. TIME STARTED. I mean, since there was no matter before time, what difference could time measure but the begining of matterhuh.
I see your infinite matter theory as nothing but speculative physics. Employ validity, provide a sufficient cause for your infinite matter theory.
I appreciate and respect what you do, man. using the very logic these atheists bring to defeat them. Kudos.

Atheists look for one or two reasons to doubt the existence of God while ignoring the millions of reasons to believe He does exist.

I really understand your write-up. I wrote those things because of the people that were saying others should not join Police Force. If we keep on discouraging the faithful people from joining the force, the sector can't reform itself. So, we need serious minded people to cull the corrupt officials in order to have Nigerian Police that is less corrupt and discharge their duties according to the rule of law.

Alright so why are your guys complaining about about girls that are looking for ready made guys? Stand by and help out......that is just like a trap option so why are they still complaining?
I wasn't complaining. I just responded to a tiny part of your submission. There's a difference between playing the man in a relationship and being a supportive wife/fiancee to being a parasite.

I believe every man would complain about the parasitic nature of a woman in any relationship. The parasitic type of women believe and act accordingly - that they are entitled to the good things a man can provide because they are females. They use their sexuality as a bargain.

The supportive wife helps her man morally and financially when he is down - if she has the wherewithal. But how she goes about doing it is the difference between playing the financial man in a relationship, which kills off the spark in the relationship, to providing support which challenges the man and nudges him to appreciate the woman.

When you provide finance and food stuffs to him constantly and he tells you he is "hungry", you have started baby sitting him and acting like mother hen. That will never challenge him to provide for you or be a man.

Believe it, He will ponder more about impressing a girl who demanded 200 naira card from him than you who is just a mother figure in more younger form.

Ok. All these guys that are always talking shit. I have been with my bf for quite a long while now. Since we met, I have been funding him with money and foodstuff as he always claimed that he is broke or hungry. Being my first but longest relationship, I adhered to this advice of 'be a helper not a golddigger' but in return he has mocked me by using this money to buy credit for other women and other such goodies. In our long time of sticking through thick and thin, he has never taken me out,. And now that he has graduated before me, I see no 'reward' in sight. Instead, it's as though he's saying 'shebi u thought you had enough to give me right? ' mocking me. Some fellow girls have blamed me for the outcome, saying all this happened because a woman is never meant to help a man out.

In this case you guys should absolutely shut up. You know why? You claim you want helpmates but if you find such a woman you mistreat her. Then you will go for a gold digger with curves all the same.
Obasonjo had wives before he became president. Women who stood by him in his tough times, but he went for Bleached and beautiful Stella who just came to sit on the throne other women worked for. How many stories do we hear of guys who marry a woman with nothing and when the going gets good they discard this woman to bring in a younger one ? I have seen these stories all around me ! In real life! When a woman sticks by you una take her to be a fool, so everyone , all d guys here should stop making needless noise. It's either men don't know what they want or they just love to complain. Abeg park well cuz we know the ending of all these rants even if a woman should stand by you, it's not as if you will appreciate it. We all know that in reality the girl who stands close or spends for his sake is seen as the fool.
#drops phone.
Sorry, you weren't playing the help meet then; You were simply the man in the relationship.

And darn right, many guys - the decent ones too - fill find you less intriguing when you do that.

You modern women know so little about men.

For those of you that are abusing police personnels, aside from extorting money from motorists and other illegal activities. These people are really trying their best, despite the fact that they are under paying them.

Kudos to the Nigerian Police Force!!!
At Bolded: the salary structure of the Nigeria police is higher than that of civil servants in Nigeria. What I find most shocking is that majority of the officers who do routine road blockade, stop and search and routine extortion are primary 6 and WAEC holders who are pentionable and will be entitled to gratuity for life.

But they aren't grateful. These are stark illiterates with dark souls that have no compassion or pity. They lie more than criminals and are worse than armed robbers.

As a motorists, I know the soft evil of this robbers in uniform. Can any Nigerian motorist tells us the exact documents you're suppose to carry for identification?

The answer is no? The nigerian police makes sure of that. Even after the PRO of police headquarters published the list. The officers on the road demands a different thing.

I have paid for and renewed vehicle documents that are suppose to be for commercial drivers and much more.

I have paid for my own investigation and arrests and fuelling of police vehicles to procure criminal matters of misrepresentation with the police seizing the sum and forcefully taken 10 percent, despite that they are allocated fuels and they distribute it to their DPOs and other high ranking officers.

The Nigerian Police needs to go back to school. They are a disgrace. Begging money openly in street without shame.

I believe you created it to instigate a Ghana vs Nigeria e-war as per your usual comments on this forum but instead it became an igbo vs Yoruba e-war. There are better ways to show the strength and power of Nigeria then this senseless bragging. I would rather be interested in what Nigerians are doing for Nigerians as a whole to benefit our Country and economy and not whether Dangote has his company in 16 african countries. Does that affect or benefit the average Nigerian?
There is no doubt that there are some Nigerians doing well all over the world and the fact that they operate in other countries does not mean that Nigerians or the whole Nigerian population now controls the economy because trust me that is not the case. Just because there are lots of Lebanese companies in Nigeria or foreign nationals in top position must they beat their chest and say they now control our economy.

This is a very silly thread and we both know it.
My lost and found ever-only-nairaland crush! !! grin

Wherever have you been! That's not the way to welcome a lost love kiss

Trust me, I am for Ecowas. Inter trade and free movement will do well for the economies of the subregion.

2010 Nigerians medium to small scale traders had problems trading in Ghana. Why? The Ghanaian government imposed a 300 thousand dollars limit before a foreigner can trade. Also the said foreigners are to employ at least 10 Ghanaians.

Nigeria on her part has a long list of trade prohibitions on Ghana . This had mandated the Ghanaian President in April to say that Nigeria's list of trade embargoes is hurting the entire economy of the subregion.

This is a thread that calls for a celebration - not just in the Nigerian perspective but also for West africa. We are over 300 million people. Think what commerce boost this could give if we all are to engage in inter trade and commerce.

Ghana economy and population is next to Nigeria in the Sub region (although in a distant 2nd) but the beginning of strong economic ties and intercultural links is the beginning of the true spirit of ECOWAS as envisaged by the founding fathers wink wink
Car Talk › CAUGHT: Volks-wagen Falsify Diesel Engine Emissions Rate by lezz(op): 10:27am On Sep 22, 2015
Volkswagen’s chief executive was under withering pressure Monday as an emissions-testing scandal erased more than €13 billion (around $15 billion) from the company’s market value in a single trading session.

The stock plunge followed revelations that the German carmaker had rigged U.S. emissions tests for about 500,000 diesel cars. VW CEO Martin Winterkorn apologized, acknowledging that his company had “broken the trust of our customers and the public.”

But saying sorry wasn’t enough for investors digesting the financial and reputational implications of the scandal on the world’s top-selling carmaker.

Volkswagen’s share price plunged a stunning 17.1 percent Monday in the first trading since the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the violations, reaching a near three-year low of €133.70, after tumbling more than 20 percent earlier in the day.

VW has halted U.S. sales of the affected vehicles and pledged to cooperate with regulators in an investigation that could potentially lead to $18 billion in fines against the company.

This case also could test the U.S. Justice Department’s initiative, announced Sept. 9, to hold individual executives accountable for corporate wrongdoing.

The EPA warned VW that it may refer the case to Justice for enforcement, and noted that in addition to corporate fines of up to $37,500 per vehicle, individuals could be fined $3,750 per violation of the Clean Air Act, which could theoretically add up to $1.9 billion, given that half a million cars are involved.

Industry analysts said the VW CEO faces difficult questions in the coming days, particularly when the company’s board is scheduled to meet Friday.

“At the moment, I’d be surprised if Winterkorn can ride this out, but in Germany there’s often a slightly slower process in these matters,” said Christian Stadler, a professor of strategic management at Warwick Business School. If VW were a U.S. company, the CEO would have gone more or less immediately, he said.

The EPA says Volkswagen violated the federal Clean Air Act by installing “defeat devices” — software programmed to switch engines to a cleaner mode during official emissions testing. The software then switches off again, enabling cars to emit as much as 40 times the legal limit of pollutants during normal driving.

For a company to engage in such blatant trickery, top executives must have been informed, said Guido Reinking, a German auto expert.

Winterkorn is an engineer by training who led research and development across the VW group beginning in 2007, and became chairman of the management board the same year.

The illegal software was made and installed in vehicles with 2.0-liter diesel engines during the model years 2009 through 2015, the EPA said. They include the Audi A3, VW Jetta, Beetle, Golf and Passat models.

“It’s almost impossible to imagine that he didn’t know about this special way of programming the engine,” Reinking told German television station n-tv.

Volkswagen marketed these diesel-powered cars, which account for about 25 percent of sales, as being better for the environment.

The EPA has ordered VW to fix the cars at its own expense, but said car owners do not need to take any immediate action. The cars threaten public health, but the violations pose no safety hazards, and the cars remain legal to drive and sell while Volkswagen comes up with a recall and repair plan, the agency said.

Volkswagen also could face sanctions in California. The carmaker had insisted for years that unrelated technical issues or unexpected conditions were to blame for the higher pollution levels state regulators found during regular driving. VW acknowledged installing the “defeat devices” only after the California Air Resources Board and the EPA refused to approve its 2016 diesel models without a better explanation.

German authorities also are investigating.

“The auto manufacturers have to work closely with U.S. authorities to comprehensively clarify the matter,” Michael Schroeren, a spokesman for Germany’s environment ministry, told reporters in Berlin. “We expect reliable information from the car manufacturers so that (German authorities) can check whether comparable manipulation has happened in Germany or Europe.”

Citing unnamed company officials, German news agency dpa reported that key members of the VW board will hold a crisis meeting on the issue Wednesday.

Germany’s transport minister meanwhile said authorities would examine VW models to check whether similar manipulation had taken place in Europe.

“Independent checks routinely take place,” Alexander Dobrindt told Germany’s Bild newspaper. “However I have instructed the Federal Motor Transport Authority to order strict, specific follow-up tests of the VW diesel models by independent experts immediately.”

Volkswagen recently edged out Toyota to become the world’s top-selling automaker, but it has had a difficult year amid signs of faltering sales in the U.S. and China. Its share price has fallen from more than €250.

Toyota had to recall 9 million cars between 2009 and 2011 after some of the Japanese automaker’s vehicles experienced unintended acceleration. That’s far more than the half-million or so that VW is having to fix. The cost to Toyota, including fines, was a little more $5 billion, according to Warwick Business School’s Stadler.

“To some extent the cheating by Volkswagen seems more blatant, but the numbers are lower and there are no fatalities involved,” Stadler said. “This suggests that in the ‘heat of the moment,’ the long-term effect on Volkswagen may be overstated. Sure it will hurt, but maybe not quite as bad as we expect right now.”

Volkswagen’s woes were felt across the European car market Monday. France’s Renault SA watched its share price drop 3.2 percent, and BMW AG ended 1.5 percent lower. Daimler AG, which owns Mercedes-Benz, dropped 1.4 percent.

Also it is needless to say the list isn't an exhaustive account by any means. There was no mention of ABC transport company, or Glo or Dangote or even Oando to say the least.

Okay! What's the mouth-watching part for? Jeez! You need to muscle your people because they are usually out of control. The South African blacks are the most embarrassing people I have ever seen. When you expect them to be civil for coming from a more advanced society the opposite is often the case. That is one of the reasons I am always hard on them.

However, I don't think all Ghanaians are bad but there are more silly ones than the intelligent ones. At least, this forum is a testament to that. Their views are usually myopic and quickly stepping to the opportunity to defend South Africa against Nigeria- when SA is not their country. That is preposterous to say the least. If there are any nations that are so close in West Africa they are Nigeria and Ghana but your people tend to support others against us, doing that to gain Zulus favor. Possibly prevent Zulus from attacking them during the xenophobic activities in that country. Most Ghanaians are cowards!
