Brushless: Do they need to be traditional rulers. If you cannot give respect within your fold, how do you want the politicians to respect you? Op says the oba's greeting to the ooni was traditional. I am supposing there's a mode of greeting the Oba traditionally reserves exclusively for other monarchs not shared by any other dignitaries. |

Glo just exposed itself to unfair competition against MTN.
Same data price with MTN which has better and faster data speed. Wrong move. |

YelloweWest: English is a group identified by language not by geological location or political affiliation.
The watchword is LANGUAGE!
Let me paint a picture for you: supposing you an your father were in Lagos and conversing in your language and a stranger identifies you as English by the LANGUAGE you speak, how silly will it look explaining you're not English but you and your daddy speak the language as the only cultural language of identification!
Do your own words make any sense?? Talk true make devil shame Before English became a global language spoken by people of different races and cultures, it was spoken by a group of people known as Englishman or Englishwoman indicating a man or woman native to England! You many need to consult your dictionary here. Igbo as a language and people is still limited to the native inhabitants who speak it as their first language of identity. Bwahahaha! You tried but logic is deep. |

Ikechukwuni6: Because ijaws have been claiming igbo territories in Rivers state even with the community pushing them off.
Likewise they've been doing the same thing to other tribes that had the mistake of allowing ijaws back their rusty boat in their lands.
Therefore, As a land thieves, you'll always ready to fight for the land you are stealing.
The bold is my concern as well. I need evidence from ijaws that this people are ijaws and not another of their land grabbing attempt before I mark them off as ijaw. Ijaw has always claimed all costal cities in southern Nigeria, from Anambra to Ogun. But that is another matter entirely. |

YelloweWest: Whether biafra or not. We are not Igbo or at least we are no longer igbo. Finito. You can't say you're not Igbo. Igbo is a group of people identified by language. Not by geographical location or political affiliation. The watchword is LANGUAGE! Let me paint a picture for you: supposing you an your father were in Lagos and conversing in your language and a stranger identifies you as Igbo by the LANGUAGE you speak, how silly will it look explaining you're not Igbo but you and your daddy speak the language as the only cultural language of identification! You're very emotional and very smart too. |

Ikechukwuni6: Dude none of us are aware if ogu-bolo truly are ijaws. Did you see any ijaws provide any evidence to back up their claim..
If you have been in this forum long enough, you would known that is how ijaws are. They did the same exact thing during discussion about ndoki and egbema. Literally even when people quoted the community in question, they still till this very day maintains those people are them. Recall few weeks ago the urhobo actually had a protest over ijaws claiming one of their territory.
Like I said before, believe ijaws claim of any land with a grain of salt.
The Ogu-obolo could well be igbo or even after ethnic group that is neither igbo or ijaws until proven otherwise.. I can't understand how this debate snowballed into the argument of ijaw settlement. My concern are of igbo-speaking people in Rivers who bear Igbo names and whose villages and communities are Igbo in name too. |

YelloweWest: Fine I agree Igbo denial came after the civil war. We want to maintain it that way. The only constant in life is change .
So we have changed. We are no longer igbo.
Are u satisfied now?? Or do I want to force me to be Igbo?? [ majekdom2: Yes, Tobi is yoruba. My point is, the Igbos are not to say which ethnic community is theirs or not. On records, ikewere and ijaws are not Igbo. It's there in the law. Just as it was with Russia and some part of Ukraine. Fight for the"igbo nation" that's in the law not try to claim people into your cause who's talking about Biafra? Please slay the Biafran dragon tormenting your thought process. I speak not of Biafra. I have long since suspected you guys have a phobia for anything Biafra. And your fears just managed to spill out of your last posts. I have not Biafra in my mind when I state my mind here. Even if Igbos in Rivers claim their Igbo heritage, they can still opt out of Biafra movement if they so wish. Denying your heritage and history is bad for the posterity of your children. It is worse than what Europeans did to the entire Africa. |

YelloweWest: Look you guys need to drop this history shìt and deal with the present. After all its not my ancestors that might have migrated from Igbo land that will vote in the referendum!!! I don't care what names we bare or where we migrated from, the present day Ijaw, Ikwerre, Etche, omuma Oyigbo man etc from rivers state all in one voice or at least the overwhelming majority say they are NOT Igbos! That's what counts! If you want to keep tracing roots pls take it all the way back to the time of Adam and Eve! Ok you have admitted you have no clue already. Thanks. You were the one who traced history to say your ancestors married Igbos and all, yet your villages and names are Igbo! If you knew they intermarried Igbo then you should know who they were before the marriage and what language they spoke. Every honest Nigerian knows Igbo denial by Igbos living on the borderlines came during and after the civil war |

majekdom2: so people that bear Rotimi, Tobi in Rivers have their roots to yoruba I guess Rotimi? Rotimi ? The past River's governor? You care to specify his parentage lineage? Why are you drawing singular cases in the face of overwhelming instances where villages and communities bear Igbo names? Is Tobi a Yoruba name? |
Politics › Re: Is Ogu-bolo In River State Igbo Or Ijaw?: See Towns And Village Names by lezz(m): 10:32pm On Apr 26, 2017 |
Ikechukwuni6: The ijaws in Rivers have claimed Ndoki and Egbema despite the community saying they aren't ijaws. They equally claim Opobo despite historical evidence such as jaja of opobo as well as an opobo politician claiming igbo. Likewise they've done the same thing for other ethnic groups land in delta, Akwa ibom,, cross rivers,,etc. Therefore, do not be surprised if ogu-bolo ended up not being ijaw. Right now, I'm waiting for someone to provide evidence from the community in question saYing they are,Ijaws before I believe this people claims. Good. Igbo or Yoruba isn't a nationhood or racial identity. it is specifically a people identified by a given language which is known as "Igbo". So anyone speaking a dialect of Igbo or Yoruba or ijaw historically without a trace or proof to have spoken something different in the past is only leaving in self-denial. If your name and father's name and that of village and community is Igbo or Yoruba or ijaw then you're definitely ijaw or Igbo or Yoruba. |

YelloweWest: We married into and married from Igbo. We traded with Igbos and had other relationships. I don't know exactly how we took on Igbo names but for the mere fact that we say we are not and don't ever want to be Igbo, isn't that enough??
I expect you people to say these are not Igbo communities and not try to claim us by force! In Delta North, there's a very tiny community , oral history says they emigrated from Yorubaland. They are not up to 1/10th of the population but they speak their dialect and bear names similar to Yoruba despite the prevailing majority of igbo-speaking community in their mist. So what is your language and names before the Igbo intermingling? |
Politics › Re: Is Ogu-bolo In River State Igbo Or Ijaw?: See Towns And Village Names by lezz(m): 10:07pm On Apr 26, 2017 |
majekdom2: colonialism or education is not the only reason a group may bear names and have a similar language. Business relationship may and a whole lot. Rivers is not Igbo! Of course rivers isn't Igbo because Ijaw is there as indigenes as well. Stop speaking in general terms. The only reasons Africa beer names are cultural roots and colonisation. |
