Politics / Re: Yoruba Youths Flay Tinubu Over Remarks On Olakurin’s Killing by Lightening: 3:14pm On Jul 16, 2019
RockHard:

Tinubu is obviously more intelligent and mature than your likes whom are given to bigotry-based sentiments. The deceased's brother that you are quoting contradicted the driver (also a witness of the unfortunate crime) who said the attackers were 'masked gunmen'. So the intelligent response to a situation such as this is to await results of investigations before making any blanket accusation. That is how intelligent people react to situations such as this. Unfortunately, people like you are not really interested in getting the real culprits of this crime, be they 'fulani herdmen' or not, because you are already sold on the culpable herdsmen narrative. I am more interested in Buhari solving the problem of insecurity ravaging the entire nooks and cranny of the country, than a jaundiced and political 'herdsmen' narrative that fails to deal with the root of the problem because even 'herdsmen' aren't the only ones that are into the banditry, armed-robbery and kidnapping trade. A holistic approach and solution is what we should be seeking instead of this herdsmen-boogeyman conspiracy madness some of you are wallowing in.

Stay there and be waiting for a holistic approach that will never come while Fulanis herdsmen begin the second phase of the occupation which is renaming your communities. Ndi ujo.

They are the chief security officers of their states only in name. The whole security apparatus belongs to the federal government headed by an old ethnic and religious bigot.

I think this is where the OPC should come in and run the fulani herdsmen out of the West.

As for Fayose, he got what he deserved. He was an absolute failure as a governor. EFCC went after him because he is corrupt and not because he stood his ground on herdsmen issue.

If he was a good governor, people will rally behind him for leadership. How I miss Gani Fawehinmi. God rest his soul. He'd give Buhari fire for fire. Today, it is safe to say Yorubas don't have a credible leader.

What of Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagagban Borgu 1 of Nigeria? What a blasphemy!

Staro:
Time has come for Yoruba to react, says Gani Adams

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, said the Yoruba nation had been pushed to the wall by the killer herdsmen who he said invaded the South-West.

Adams, who is also the leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, said in a statement on Saturday that the time had come to react, saying they should not be blamed by the time they start reacting in their own way.

The Aare Onakakanfo said, “Yoruba race is not at a loss as to what to do to put a complete stop to the atrocities of the Fulani herdsmen, but we have continuously issued statements to call the attention of the entire world to the development in the peaceful South-West.

“We only want the whole world to know what has been done and being done to our people. They should be aware of the actions that preceded our reaction when it eventually comes.

“We are not bereft of ideas on how to stop this criminality on our land. It is just that we should not be blamed when the reaction comes. We are like the proverbial goat that it being chased. When it gets to the wall, it will certainly react. We are at that stage now.”

It's time we all go our separate ways..

Life used to be a sacred thing in the past, but with this Fulani man as our president, killing has been a game, life has been a toy!

If we continue this way, we'll all wake up to nothing but the entire south overthrown by the northerners all armed.

They do not value family, life and property so why won't they kill others?

The North has always been a problem to the south, we can't continue like this, we have our culture, values and ethics but forcing an alien way of life on us is a way to colonize the south, behold they are advancing each day.

I'm a Yoruba guy and I wish we go our separate way!

Life is sweet!

Good morning good people of the South!

Yoruba want to be president in 2023. Will they sacrifice that ambition for presidency, which is at a grabbing distance, just because one more random person was killed? Let them persevere even if more people are killed. It will be worth it in the end because with power, they can then restructure the country for good.

Politics / Re: Fayemi Pays Salaries, Allowances Of Fayose’s Appointees by Lightening: 8:48pm On Jul 12, 2019
olajay86:

The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has paid the outstanding salaries and allowances of members of the State Civil Service Commission and House of Assembly Service Commission who were appointed by the immediate past administration of Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

Governor Kayode Fayemi disclosed this while presenting cheques covering their outstanding remunerations.

He thanked the appointees for their meritorious service to the State.

Fayemi, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Biodun Omoleye acknowledged the understanding and patriotism of the former appointees while serving with his government, wishing them well in their future endeavours.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the outgone chairman of the House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Tunji Odeyemi appreciated Fayemi for being kindhearted, saying Fayemi’s gesture is uncommon and devoid of personal vendetta.

Odeyemi said that the appointees had earlier thought that Fayemi would remove them from office since that was the norm but the governor was law abiding and retained them in office.

“We are most delighted for an avenue like this. I must confess that this opportunity we are having today is very uncommon. When a new governor or government comes on board, what they usually do is to remove members of commissions and boards appointed by their predecessor not minding the laws establishing those commissions.

“But you have magnanimously retained us and now paying our outstanding salaries. As far as Ekiti is concerned, from 1999 to date, the opportunity we are having like this has not been very common. We are grateful to His Excellency for this”, he said.

The former acting governor said Fayemi has demonstrated his commitment to treating all Ekiti people equally regardless of their political affiliations and has set precedence for his successor to follow.

Politics / Re: Brave Yoruba Men Of Old! Photo by Lightening: 4:32pm On Jul 10, 2019
Mbeki:
After the Fulanis systematically captured and made Ilorin their territory, they sacked the old Oyo Empire in 1835/1636. They were still not satisfied with their victory; they wished to extend their rule deep into the heart of Yoruba land. Thus in 1840, they set to capture Osogbo, a Yoruba town. The Fulanis, under the command of Ali, the Hausa balogun of Ilorin, laid siege on Osogbo. When the king of Osogbo realized that the Ilorins were too strong for the Osogbo army, he summoned the Ibadans for help. Ibadan immediately sent some auxiliaries to Osogbo under the command of Obele alias Mobitan, and Alade Abimpagun. As this force could not stop the Ilorins, another contingent was sent to Osogbo under a more experienced leader. But still the Ilorins won every battle and gained more ground.
When Ibadan realized that the Ilorins were becoming more threatening to Yoruba land, they sent a large and stronger force under Balogun Oderinlo to crush the intruding forces and Jammas of Ilorin. When Oderinlo and his men arrived at the battlefield, they realized that things had gone worse than they thought. They could not show their faces in the open field for the fear of the Ilorin horses, and for about 20 days after their arrival at Osogbo, they could not fight outside the town thickets. Oderinlo suggested that Elepo, a brave Ibadan warrior was badly needed at the war-front. Elepo had been rejected by the war-chiefs of Ibadan for his actions at the late Agbamaja expedition. As soon as the message from Oderinlo reached Ibadan, the Bashorun wished he could send Elepo to Osogbo but could not go against the wish of other war-chiefs. The Bashorun gave Elepo a cow to worship his god, Ori, and pray for the victory of Ibadan at the war-front.
At the war-front, the Ibadan could not attack the Ilorins during the day because Osogbo was practically in a plain and the Ilorin horses might have advantage of them with disastrous results. They decided to attack at dusk when the Ilorins would no longer be able to use their horses. About 2:pm, the well prepared Ibadan army left the gate of Osogbo for the battlefield. They were to keep a strict watch and arrest anyone suspected to be a spy. About a mile from the Ilorin camp, they halted and arranged the order of the attack. The Osogbo army and the earlier auxiliaries were to handle the center of the battlefield, chiefs Abitiko and Labuju were to command the right wing, Balogun Oderinlo with the rest of the Ibadan war-chiefs were to form the left wing of the army. The Ilorin camp was then attacked at midnight. The watchword was “Elo ni owo odo?” (How much is the ferry fare?). The reason this watchword was chosen was because the river Osun had to be crossed in entering Osogbo from the south, and anyone who could not tell this was likely to be an enemy.
Stampede engulfed the Ilorin camp as the Ibadan army set it on fire. The Ilorins could not offer the slightest resistance; they were smoked with the gunpowder of the Ibadan guns. This attack was a success for the Ibadan. Some Ilorin war-chiefs were captured in the attack. Prominent ones were:

Jimba the head slave of the Emir;
One of the sons of Ali the commander in chief;
Chief Lateju;
Ajikobo the Yoruba Balogun of Ilorin.

They should have sacked the Fulanis Emir in Ilorin too and recover the city. Why didn't they?

He couldn’t take it anymore and took his life. After he died, the truth came out at work and his boss came to compensate him with a promotion at work and a brand new car.

But he received news of his demise. The boss has reportedly vowed to arrest the colleague who made the false allegation.

ruga - Fulani encampment

Definition of Encampment by Merriam-Webster
1a : the place where a group (such as a body of troops) is encamped

encampment
/ɪnˈkampm(ə)nt,ɛnˈkampm(ə)nt/
noun: encampment; plural noun: encampments
a place with temporary accommodation consisting of huts or tents, typically for troops or nomads.
"a Bedouin encampment"
synonyms: camp, military camp, bivouac, cantonment, barracks, base, station, post; campsite, camping ground; tents;
"they planned an attack on the enemy's encampment"

I have always known that RUGA does not mean Rural Grazing Area. It is a Fulanis name. These guys think we are fools.

A divided vote in 2015 and 2011 in Yoruba lands could have equally been interpreted as a betrayal by those who weren't favoured so stop getting too emotional.
