Thanks for the insight. It's gets interesting with this twist. Essentially, I'm trying to avoid paying tax on the funds. The contract was awarded in Nigeria and payment needs to be made to the workers in Nigeria in USD. I'm unable to transfer from my Nigerian USD account while here as per CBN/Forex issues in Nigeria. Having the funds taxed will be a huge burden on me as 80% is meant for workers - my profit would have been lost to tax and transaction fees. If I decide not to declare the income to the HMRC, what are the consequences? Or what alternatives do the advise to receive and send USD without being taxed in the UK. Thanks Estroller: |

No, I've not encountered any issue with withdrawing at the ATM with a Nigerian USD card. My singular concern is the exchange rate. Which is marginal compared to directly receiving the funds in USD. NB: Use a bank ATM as against a random machine when withdrawing to avoid unnecessary withdrawal charges. My withdrawals at bank ATMs have been billed for $3, while random ATM cost me $30 or so. Hope that helps. vanod: |

If I receive money from a US company into my Revolut USD account will it be taxed by HMRC, as per it's linked to my NI? Just finding ways to avoid the money being paid into my Nigerian USD account due to all the USD transfer and withdrawal wahala. Also trying to avoid the funds being taxed or poor exchange rate over the ATM. Your insights will be appreciated. 1 Like |

Thanks. I've explored World Remit earlier but couldn't see the feature to receive funds on their app. Guess they're only into outflows. Plus Nigerian USD card isn't working on it. Just did a trial transaction on Revolut USD account. Fingers crossed till next week. Thanks all the same. Amarathripple0: 1 Like |

Does any anyone know a platform to receive and send USD to a Nigerian USD account. Wise has stopped sending USD to Nigeria. Chipper cash is trash with poor customer service. Send can't receive. Thanks in advance |

At an average daily rate of £7.50, it's high. Even if your house is all electric - power, heating and eating - you shouldn't be paying that high. Either there's a debt on the bill or the energy rating is between band E - G, abi person don tap your light . For context, I stay in a one-bed flat. Prior to the current weather, my electricity (pre-paid) was £30 per month and gas was £31. Now, I'm doing £40 - £50 for electricity and £46 for gas (cooking and heating). Both are still under £100. Even if it's only electricity you're using for power, heating and eating, £250 is rather too much. MrMash: |

Channels TV streams on YouTube 24/7. NTA streams live on YouTube for major network news. A friend uses the DSTV Now app to access the Naija stations in the UK. But she uses VPN. Hope that helps. missjekyll: 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Getting a sponsorship job on a Tier 4 and transitioning to Tier 2 isn't exactly the discourse. The possibility is common knowledge. Was asking hustla to confirm if his classmate's still maintained the Tier 4 or switched to Tier 2 upon the 20hrs job. It's a build up on previous conversation. EDIT: I see you responded to my initial post which I modified just befor you responded. Guess I wasn't too clear in the initial post. Apparently, we're on the same page. Amarathripple0: |

You can try, but companies won't most likely sponsor anyone on student visa. The option would be to stop your studies and switch visa. For your classmate that got sponsorship for 20hrs, did she change her visa type or she was still on Tier 4? I believe one can't hold two visa types concurrently. For Tier 4, it is what it is: 20 hours work allowance per week. Defile the rule at your own peril. The system is structured to ensure that students having their finances covered for them to focus on their studies why allowing 20 hours per week to experience the labour market and make some money. I bet every student know this but try to wiggle it out. In all, patience and diligence will always win. hustla: |

First, you can't work full time on a student visa even if the company wants to sponsor. You'd have to switch to a PSW visa after your studies to work full time. It allows you to get a job - sponsored or not. Once you have a job on the PSW visa, you can then discuss sponsorship with your employer who by then would recognise your value to their coy. hustla: |

Creatives no dey use CV, na portfolio we dey use. It's the experience, impact and result that counts not the duration. Even for CV, you necessary don't have to put all your career touch points on the paper just the most valuable or applicable to the role in question. *Maba OR Bama. mizGene: 1 Like |

Are you in or out of the UK? If you're in already, You might want to tone down on the request for sponsorship at the interview stage. Secure the job first, deliver value and negotiate to your advantage. Some jobs are quite clear on giving sponsorship, for those you can raise it with them at the interview stage. For those that do not state so, you can let it slide at the interview stage. jadepinkett: |

Most "professional rolling stones" change jobs because of boredom. They're explorers, creative and innovative. The best thing for them is to become a consultant, working on different projects per time instead of having a fixed 9-5 job all year. That way, they maintain freshness and dynamism in professional practice. Given that the UK labour market steeped in favour of the employee, you can always negotiate your way around. Objectively analyze your options and go with the best. You can move around within the NHS. corpershun: 1 Like |

UK net migration hit 504,000 in the year to June - the highest figure ever recorded, The Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimates. The rise is driven by people arriving legally from outside the EU and the resumption of post-pandemic travel. Reception of Afghan and Ukrainian refugees and people from Hong Kong are other factors. The government has promised to cut net migration - the difference between the numbers entering and leaving the UK. Today's figures will intensify debates over the role of overseas workers into the UK economy and wider labour market - weeks after Home Secretary Suella Braverman said she wanted to resurrect a repeatedly missed government target to reduce net migration to below 100,000.

Absolutely. I'm interested in reading your serial job change story. I'd like to think I'm a serial job changer as well. An employer once saw my CV and called me "a rolling stone" during the interview. He said he knew I'd leave them soon. Three months down the line I left. Exploring new territories and roles is always exciting. LagosismyHome: 1 Like |

Let me share my experience on probation and annual leave/bereavement. I'm barely 3 months into my first job in this UK. Currently on a six-month probation but I have a pro-rated annual leave just before my company's calender year reset. Given my Naija experience, I literally saw the probation-phase leave allowance as a bait So, I wasn't going to use any as per sharp Nigerian. However, I noticed my british-born colleagues had almost used up the leave even at the induction phase. Life sweet. Long story short, me sef request for some days leave this month just to flex and it was granted despite the short notice. Annual leave requires 6 weeks notice in my company but I requested barely 2 weeks to the date I wanted and it was granted. My manager simply looked at the team's calender, noticed no one else would be on leave for those days, got clearance from his own manager and granted it. It's people over processes and rules. My partner told me of a colleague who's cat died and the manager gave her one week to mourn. So, I see no reason why they'd deny some days off to mourn and honour your dead. With my little experience about the labour market here, bereavement is a huge stuff. They're big on Work-life balance and family. I'd say the employee is the king in this market. It's the other way round back home. OP just needs to speak to her Manager. I'm almost certain they'll give her a week or more if she requests. Actually, being on probation shouldn't take out your access to leave. If that's case and they won't give you time off to mourn and honour the dead, then you need to run from that company. 1 Like |

Sheer sentiment and emotion aren't needed here. Speak with facts and objectivity. Wait, how did marginalisation and racism enter this conversation sef? I advise you read up more on those words. Every country has had a fair chance to compete at the WC. The better ones are there now and only the best will win. Why bash others for their option when you have the space to present yours? Last week, the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme was confirmed. It's under the UK's Youth Mobility Scheme visa: https://www.gov.uk/youth-mobility/eligibility This scheme will allow 3,000 Indians (18–30 year-old degree graduates) to come to the UK to live and work for up to two years. -- I'm excited for Indians. They're winning on liberating their people for global excellence. Just wish Nigeria will learn the dynamics of social development, poverty reduction and opportunity generation for its citizens. 2 Likes

Here are the economic implications of the Autumn Statement: https://www.creditladder.co.uk/blog/Autumn-Budget-2022-What-does-it-mean-for-tenants Economic downtimes are a great opportunity to evolve. Okay. Thanks. Yes, I have other records. My score has been 422 since June. Got the card to boost my credit score. Really hoping it'll give it a push. I realised my report/score aren't available on any other credit agent except Clearscore. It's also available on TransUnion. Is this anything to worry about? Solumtoya: Thanks, Baba Lexus. Hiya! Biko, how long does it take for one's credit card details to reflect on the credit report? It's almost two months since I got Amex card and I've been using it but nothing has been reported on my credit file. Meanwhile, I'm only able to see my credit report on Clearscore. Experian and CreditKarma didn't produce any data for me. Thanks |

You can buy the training material and practice question packs on Udemy. Watch loads of videos - YouTube. Read other materials. Pay for the exam and write it in the comfort of your house. I did this and passed the PSM I at the first attempt with barely two months of inconsistent study due to work and travelling. All the best. |
