The gay rights activist said he was diagnosed 15 years ago but began taking medications 10 years ago and he’s been living a healthy life. He went on to advise followers to take a test and begin medication if it comes out positive.

He went further to reveal that he decided to take the test when his boyfriend died from the disease, according to him he knew he was at a greater risk of getting the virus but shame and fear did not allow him go for the test even his friends knew about it but shame and stigma wouldn’t let them go for the test and get treatment.

Coca-Cola billionaire entrepreneur, Alkiviades ‘Alki’ David has been ordered to pay $11 million to his former employee in a sexual assault trial.

Alkiviades ‘Alki’ David, whose family business is the Leventis-David group which owns the Coca-Cola Hellenic bottling plants, was sued by Chasity Jones, a 42-year-old former employee who claims she was fired for refusing his sexual advances.

On Friday, a California jury awarded Jones $3.1 million in compensatory damages and a further $8 million in punitive damages for committing sexual battery.

The $11 million total is one of the biggest payouts from a sexual harassment suit, according to Jones’ attorney Lisa Bloom.

Imo State Police Command department of Special Anti-Robbery Squad has shot dead a dismissed police sergeant, Martins Nwoke, for alleged involvement in several kidnap cases.

Nwoke and one other were shot dead on Saturday at Hospital Junction, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, during a gun duel with the SARS operatives.

Southern City News gathered that the dismissed cop had gone to the area to sell a vehicle they snatched from one of their kidnapped victims.

Mariam Nabatanzi a 39-year-old mother of 38 children gave birth to twins a year after she was married off at the age of 12. Five more sets of twins followed – along with four sets of triplets and five sets of quadruplets.

Three years ago, however, the 39-year-old Ugandan was abandoned by her husband, leaving her to support their surviving 38 children alone.

It was just the latest setback in a life marred by tragedy for Nabatanzi, who lives with her children in four cramped houses made of cement blocks and topped with corrugated iron in a village surrounded by coffee fields 50 km (31 miles) north of Kampala.

After her first sets of twins were born, Nabatanzi went to a doctor who told her she had unusually large ovaries. He advised her that birth control like pills might cause health problems. So the children kept coming.

It was reported that no fewer than 21 people dead in a road accident in Jigawa and Rivers states.

According to PUNCH the Jigawa crash occurred in Zandam Nnogogo village, in the Gwaram area of Jigawa State.

It gathered that the victims were returning from a wedding when the incident happened around 11.30am on Tuesday.

It was also confirmed that the victims were among 42 passengers travelling in an 18-seater bus.

The front tyre of the overloaded vehicle was said to have burst, as the driver lost control.

The vehicle reportedly somersaulted several times before bursting into flames.

While 19 passengers were burnt to death, 23 were reportedly rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.

The Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdul Jinjiri, said most of the deceased were mostly women and children who were reduced to ashes.

France have said she will invite architects from around the world to submit designs for rebuilding the spire of Notre-Dame cathedral that was destroyed in a devastating blaze, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said Wednesday.

The goal is “to give Notre-Dame a new spire that is adapted to the techniques and the challenges of our era,” Philippe told reporters a day after President Emmanuel Macron vowed to rebuild the cathedral “even more beautifully” within five years.

Thousands of Parisians and tourists watched in horror Monday as flames engulfed a monument that has symbolised Paris for nearly a millennium, toppling the spire and gutting a large part of the roof.

No sooner had firefighters extinguished the flames than pledges of donations towards rebuilding it began to pour in.

Within 24 hours, the pledges had reached more than 800 million euros ($900 million), with French business magnates and corporations jostling to outshine each other with displays of generosity.

A married teacher, who has been on the run after he was accused of defiling his students, has been arrested.

The former teacher of Isolog Group of Schools, Agbole Akute, Ogun State, Adebayo Gbadebo, was arrested on Monday night after the school officials mandated to produce him, did so.

Namukhula, a 28-year-old woman who gave birth to five babies last month has died on Sunda after two of her babies, both boys, died last week while under special care at the hospital.

The 28- year-old woman identified as Evaline Namukhula gave birth to the quintuplets in Kakamega area of Kenya.

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) chief executive Wilson Aruasa, said Ms Namukhula complained of chest pains and persistent headache on Saturday night and doctors put her onantibiotics and conducted a blood clot test.

The MTRH boss said she suffered from pulmonary embolism, a blood clot, which blocked blood vessels in her lungs.
Immediately after the scan, she vomited, started sweating and had difficulty breathing before collapsing midday,” Dr Aruasa told the Nation.
she was taken to the semi-intensive care unit, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Her two boys died last week while under special care at the Eldoret hospital. The remaining three girls are doing well and under special attention by nurses”.

The five babies were born on March 10 at the Kakamega County Referral Hospital and were referred to MTRH for specialised care after they developed breathing complications.

An Auburn University gymnast broke both of her legs after suffering a horrific landing during competition this weekend.

Samantha Cerio who is set to get married this June was making her first pass during her floor routine at the Baton Rouge Regional on Friday when she fell on the blind landing.
The crowd gasped as Cerio, a senior on the team, attempted a handspring double front but fell to the mat and screamed out in pain.

'I think she may be hurt,' one of the competition's commentators said as doctors ran to help.

'It looked like that ankle came down very awkwardly and she is obviously in some pain.'

Cerio reportedly dislocated both of her knees and broke both of her legs.

She was carted out of the arena on a stretcher with air casts on both of her legs as the crowd gave her a standing ovation.

‘It was pretty tough to watch,’ Auburn coach Jeff Graba told NOLA.com. ‘She’s a trooper. The last thing she said was, “Go help the girls.”‘

Cerio later took to her Instagram page and said that Friday had been her ‘final night as a gymnast’.

After 18 years I am hanging up my grips and leaving the chalk behind. I couldn’t be prouder of the person that gymnastics has made me to become. It’s taught me hard work, humility, integrity, and dedication, just to name a few,’ she wrote.

A fresh medical graduate of University of Lagos who just did his convocation three days ago was stabbed to death by some robbers last night.

According to reports, Dr. Urueye Stephen aka Sarutobi, a House Officer at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital was walking along Idi Araba road where LUTH is situated when he was accosted by the robbers who stabbed him before carting away his properties found on him.

A Nigerian sailor identified as Romeo Nwabueze and his crew members has revealed how they discovered a charm that was allegedly made by a Nigerian lady named Temitope to control her suppose husband named Ramon Abiodun and his mother Baisat inside a wooden casket. The charm according to Romeo was dumped in the sea.

According to the sailor who discovered the charm, the lady put her picture and that of her husband in a miniature casket and did same thing for her mother in-law. Also in the casket was a written note. Purportedly, this was done for them to increase their for her.

Nigerian Prisons Service warders, attached to the Ibara Prison in Abeokuta, Ogun State, are currently under interrogation for allegedly plotting with some convicted inmates to carry out different crimes, including defrauding members of the public and escaping from the correctional facility.

According Punch Metro some condemned robbery inmates had, in connivance with the warders, allegedly contributed about N15m for the planned jailbreak.

It was learnt that the plot was on when the police discovered it.

Sources told PUNCH Metro that two senior prison officers had been arrested in connection with the incident.

The officers, were said to be undergoing interrogation.

It was further learnt that about N600,000 and some documents had been recovered from the suspects by the police.

A source said the suspects were taken away by officers of the Zonal Intervention Squad, Obada Oko, Abeokuta.

He said, “The whole thing started after the police got a series of complaints of fraud from some members of the public. The calls were traced to the prison. In the course of investigation, some prohibited items were discovered in the cells, including phones.

“The police went further in their investigation and discovered that there was actually a syndicate in the prison and some warders were involved. This was what led to the discovery of the planned jailbreak by the condemned inmates.”

Another source identified some of the inmates allegedly involved in the plot as Olatunji Adeleke and Oladele Ilesanmi.

Three students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, (FUTO) were found dead at at a hostel on Tuesday, over an alleged drug orgy. The fourth student, a female, is still unconscious at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Owerri.

According to reports, the students were found at Sunshine Castle Hostel, Umuchima at ihiagwa Community, Owerri North LGA, Imo state on Tuesday. They four of them had been reportedly taking a mixture of tramadol, codeine, vodka and India hemp.

Two of the students reportedly died instantly while the only lady amongst them and another male student were found unconscious and immediately taken to Federal Medical Centre Owerri and placed on life support there. The male student later died at the hospital, leaving only the lady unconscious.

Reports claim they were all found naked, one was with a bathing soap in his hand, the other lying on top of the lady. The room was filled with bottles of codeine, packets of tramadol, India hemp and vodka and other drugs.

Police men arrived at the hotel on Wednesday morning to take away the dead bodies and also arrest the lodge caretaker. Currently most occupants of the lodge have vacated the premises for fear of being arrested.
