A soldier father in east China was left disappointed when his own son couldn’t recognise him after he came home from a 10-month deployment.

Officer Kang of the People’s Liberation Army recently returned home for the Chinese New Year holidays and planned to give his son a big surprise.

However, the boy, aged around four, started crying and running away as soon as the ‘strange man’ approached him on the street outside his home in Binzhou, Shandong province.
The Heart-breaking footage filmed by the mother shows the boy running away from his father and saying to his mother: ‘You’re lying, you’re lying, he’s not my daddy.’

‘It’s your daddy! Look, it is your daddy!’ the mother can be heard saying to her son, her voice breaking up.

Another clip shows the boy walking past his father without a word.
We actually wanted to record the moment my son and my husband reunited,’ Mrs Kang told Beijing News. ‘We never expected him to not recongise his own father.’

She added that 10 months was probably too long for the child to be separated from his father.

Despite constantly talking to his dad via FaceTime and looking at his photos, the boy still couldn’t recognise his own father when he stood in front of him.

‘Maybe he looked different in real life than in his photos. And that probably scared the him,’ the mother said.

Eventually, the mother had to Facetime her husband in the middle of the street to ‘prove’ that the man in front of them was no stranger.

‘He finally recognised him in the end,’ she said.

‘He eventually gave his father a big hug in the elevator. We were all crying,’ she added.
Many net users were brought to tears by the heart-breaking homecoming.

‘I can’t imagine what the father was going through at that moment,’ one user commented on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

It’s very difficult for a boy to grow up without his father by his side,’ another said.

‘A big salute to our soldiers for serving our country!’ one comment read.

Experts say that a parent leaving for military service could greatly disrupt a child’s development, especially at a young age.

‘Kids often experience more anxiety,’ said Dr Michael Faran, a psychiatrist, retired colonel and chief of the Child, Adolescent and Family Behavioral Health Office at Army Medical Command.

Some studies suggest about 30 per cent of children will have difficulties as a result of deployment, according to a report in the US Army publication.

‘There’s an increase in depression and anxiety. There can be a decrease in academic performance. In some adolescents, there’s an increase in use of drugs and alcohol. And there has been more gang activity reported in some teens,’ Dr Faran noted.

The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Sanai Agunbiade, has said the state lawmakers will do their job despite protests against the planned impeachment of the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

The House leader, Agunbiade, while insisting that there was no crisis in Lagos, stated that the Assembly was only carrying out its oversight function as enshrined in the constitution.

He spoke on Wednesday while responding to a crowd of Ambode supporters who had stormed the Assembly at Alausa, Ikeja, to dissuade the lawmakers from removing Ambode from office.

Recall that The House of Assembly on Monday, had accused the governor of gross misconduct and allegedly spending from the 2019 budget which has not been approved.

The lawmakers had given him seven days to respond to the allegations or risk impeachment.

The protesters, who gathered under the aegis of the Lagos People’s Assembly, carried banners with different inscriptions depicting their agitations.

The leader of the protesters, Declan Ihekaire, said the group was a coalition of civil societies protecting the rights of residents of Lagos.

50-year-old cleaner, Ayuba Apagu, was on Thursday docked by Police at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged theft of his employer’s generator wire valued N25,000.

According to report, Apagu who is working as a cleaner with a first generation bank was allegedly caught by the security personnel attached to the bank.

The defendant, who resides at No. 4 Yaya Hassan Adeshina St., Idimu, Lagos, is facing two counts of willful damage and stealing.

He said that the defendant thereafter stole the generator terminal cable worth N25,000, a property of the bank.

Akhaluode added that the offences were committed on January 14 at the bank’s Oba-Akran Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos branch.

A man and his lover have been arrested and charged jointly with the murder of the man’s wife.

The deceased, Mary Kamangara 39, and mother of two, was last seen on Saturday around 11 am when she left her residence at Safari Park Gardens to Kahawa Sukari in Kenya where she operates a hardware shop.

Her body was later recovered on Sunday at Courtesy beach within Juja sub-county with visible head injuries. She had a deep wound in the head which police said was inflicted by a blunt object and bruises on the hands.

Arwasa said the two suspects Joseph Kori Karue (the decease’s husband) and Judy Wambui Mungai (the man’s girlfriend) are believed to be behind the killing of the woman.

This is after blood-stained clothes were recovered from Wambui’s rented house at Four Ways estate along Kiambu road.

The police said the blood-stained clothes collected from Wambui’s house will be taken for DNA analysis.

Both suspects were not represented by a lawyer. The two will be held at Juja police station in Kenya until February 13.

Angel Poole, 25 lady has been jailed for starving her baby to death. The young mother starved her two months old baby so badly that it died weighing less than when it was born.

Angel Poole, 25, from Birmingham, Iowa, was sentenced to 10 years in prison last week after an autopsy found her son had been ‘markedly malnourished’ by the negligent mother.
Two-month-old Judah Wessels tragically died in July 2016 weighing just 5lbs (2.3kg) – half the weight of a healthy infant of the same age and 2lbs less than his birth weight.

Eight days after he was born, doctors found baby Judah was healthy and well-fed during an examination.

But the court heard how over the following weeks, Poole missed several appointments with medical staff and told police she ‘never got round to it’.

Weeks after his birth, Poole called 911 reporting that Judah was struggling to breathe – and he was pronounced dead in hospital shortly afterwards.

While in July she appeared to blame her baby’s death on a brain injury and said the charges against her should be dropped.

Embattled Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has issued a note of warning to the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lanre Issa-Onilu, to let the Imo State chapter be.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is the All Progressives Congress candidate for Lagos State governorship election, has said that he started considering running as governor after his children convinced him that he has all it takes to occupy the office when it was clear that the incumbent have lost the support of the party members.

A 20-day-old baby girl was buried alive for three hours in northern India but miraculously survived after locals heard her cries and dug her out from the cold earth.

Police say the parents had buried the baby on the instructions of an occult. The occult allegedly told them their baby was possessed by evil spirits.

Residents in Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh in northern India heard the cries of the infant on Friday evening, when temperatures had dropped to just 37F (3C).

Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, of Bauch is on hot seat as six political parties and their governorship candidates have formed a coalition with the aim of defeating the state Governor.

The delegation was led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and an elder statesman, Alhaji Bello Kirfi, who announced the development at a press conference which held on Sunday in Bauchi.

The governorship candidates in the coalition are those of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bala Mohammed; People’s Redemption Party, Prof Ali Pate; Advanced Congress of Democrats, Baheejah Mahmoud; Green Party of Nigeria, Adamu Jumba; and People’s Democratic Movement, Ahmed Iliyasu.

Kaduna state Governor and former FCT minister, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai says he knows that 67 per cent of Christians in southern Kaduna will not vote for him in the governorship election even if he picks the Pope as his running mate.

Military base in remote northeast Nigeria, was attacked by Boko Haram fighters setting fire to shelters for those made homeless by the conflict, military and humanitarian sources told AFP Tuesday.

The attack which happened in Rann, some 175 kilometres (110 miles) northeast of the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, began late on Monday afternoon and forced civilians to flee.

It followed a pattern by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) faction of Boko Haram that has called into question government claims the group is virtually defeated.

A similar attempt was made to take over a military base in Magumeri, 50 kilometres northwest of Maiduguri, on Sunday, a local community leader said.

Rann currently hosts some 35,000 internally displaced people (IDPs), according to the International Organization for Migration.

It has been repeatedly hit in the conflict, exacerbating already dire humanitarian conditions on the ground.

A military source in the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, said the attack began at about 5:20 pm (1620 GMT) on Monday.

“The terrorists took over a military position in Rann following heavy fighting,” he said on condition of anonymity.

Poor visibility because of seasonal Harmattan winds hampered the deployment of air force jets, and troops were forced to withdraw, he added.

The Nigerian Doctor has been declared wanted by the Nigerian Army for allegedly launching a global fundraising scheme with the aim of generating money to provide food for troops in the North East.

In a statement released this morning, the Army says the fundraising is fraudulent as the Nigerian soldiers sent to prosecute the war against Boko Haram in the North East, do not lack food nor logistics. The Army says it is working with INTERPOL to also declare him wanted.

The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a fraudulent and criminal fund raising by one Doctor Perry Brimah, a Nigerian in diaspora, tagged “Global Campaign To Provide Food For Nigerian Soldiers Fighting Boko Haram”. The criminal embarked on this fund raising venture ostensibly to defraud unsuspecting members of the public especially the international community to fund subversive activities and personal life style. Borno State stakeholders have attacked the Governor of the state, Kashim Shettima urging him to come out clean and say what he knows about the insecurities in the state.

The Borno Stakeholders Foundation, the umbrella group for concerned stakeholders from the three senatorial zones in Borno state, made this call on Tuesday the 2nd of January 2019 after the Governor stated that the increasing rate of inscurities in the state is becoming alarming.

The group said it was unfair for the governor to mention that the Buhari administration hasn’t done its best in area of security in the state.

Shettima Ali Adamu, National President of the group, who made this observation in a widely circulated press statement on Tuesday , said Shettima has refused to make life meaningful for the people of the state, despite the availability of resources at his disposal.

He said, “For instance, the issues of unemployment have consistently remained on a high, thereby giving the hungry youths more and more reasons to pitch the tent with the Boko Haram group.

A 27 year old Muslim doctor has been sacked from a Cleveland clinic after she posted on her Twitter handle that she would purposely give all Jewish patients the wrong medication.

The young doctor, who has been identified as Lara Kollab, of Westlake, was a supervised resident. Kollab posted in a January 2012 tweet. “Hahha ewww… ill (sic) purposely give all the yahood the wrong meds…”

“Yahood” is Arabic for “Jew.”

On Monday, the Cleveland Clinic released a statement Monday after the tweet was discovered and that the Muslim doctor had been posting anti-Semitic sentiments on social media.

Dino Melaye, the lawmaker representing Kogi West senatorial district in the upper legislative chamber, has again raised alarm over plan to arrest him.

had reported that Senator Dino Melaye had alleged that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris had ordered his arrest, adding that the police boss will also inject him (Melaye) to death.

But reacting to the allegation, the Force Public Relations Officer, Acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, in a statement on Wednesday, denied that there was a plan to arrest Senator Melaye or kill him.

He described the senator’s allegation as “hate speech aimed at putting the force into disrepute before members of the public.”

However, Melaye who is presently in Mississippi, again raised the alarm in a post on his Twitter page on Friday.

According to him, all entrances to his house has been secured by the police.
