samefiok:Nope! Stockholm University first out of four semesters school fees is about $7,000, and you need to pay it from Nigeria before you start talking about all the other stuff |
omonla10:Ofcourse, I am only talking about the body. That was what I did. Any of them that read it saw what they were looking for, unless you cannot connect all the courses. |
omonla10:You can just write one that fits all |
Those paying fees from naija, use Form A, follow up, meet the manager, know someone in the bank, they can be annoying in processing this due to delay. Tell them you have a deadline, call them everyday, don't rest until they send you "Telex copy" because even if they debit your account, dem never still send am. No consider black market o. Most importantly, start processing it on time because they may tell no allocation, or cbn has not sent allocation for the week. |
HeyHey:Oh great, my pieces of advice will certainly be helpful to you. Congratulations. |
Whatever advice I give here, it is only based on my experience living in Stockholm city, I have not lived in any other city yet in Sweden. |
HeyHey:Every skill. Get your driver's license handy (some jobs they just ask for it even though it's not really driving). Learn to operate forklift and have the license (very useful), IT skills (universal I guess). Yes, apply for your family. |
Yeah. The Resident permit card you will be issued is your work permit in Sweden. |
HeyHey:I've made some lengthy posts and they all got deleted. If you want to come with your family, prepare for them as you preparing for yourself, unless the money in your account won't be enough to handle all. The reason is, when you get here, it will be more difficult getting their application filed. The simple reason is that you will need a personnummer to do that then. If you are outside Stockholm, I learnt it's easier, but in Stockholm I came in on 29th of October, and applied for my personnummer on 4th of November, it was issued end of february. You know what that means. |
For the people with family, it is better you apply for your family. When you are here, applying for them becomes dependent on you having personnummer and having the right size of accommodation for the family (you know what that means). For people outside Stockholm, i learnt it comes more quickly, but it took me about 4 months to get. I came in 28th of October, visited the tax office on 4th of November to apply for it, but it was issued end of February. It took another 3 weeks or 4 so to get my Swedish ID card. But you would want to consider the money in your bank account if it will be able to take care of all according to Swedish Migration requirements. And also, if it is convenient to pay the application fee for each, 2,000kr for your wife, and 1,000kr each for little children (I don't know for grown children). Again, Resident permit is work permit here, and that is what Sweden issues to students. If you are staying less than 3 months in Sweden, then you will be issued visa, and that does not permit you to work. So, anytime employer asks for your work permit, just show your Resident permit. Many employers won't want to employ you if you don't have tax ID, some do (I started working before I got my tax ID). The same thing with the banks. Some banks will outrightly tell you they can't deal without personnummer or cordination number (like Sedbank and Nordea), but others will consider (Handelsbanken and Danske) with plenty wahala. But SEB will deal and regularise later. But for SEB, I visited them in November and they gave me an appointment for February 24. I thought I would never go back to them But by february 24th, the other banks were still going back and forth. I had to go back to SEB and they opened the account immediately. Only that I couldn't have a bankID and swish. But as soon as I got my ID card, I went back to them and all was regularised. But I learnt that all these are easier outside Stockholm. in summary, for the family guy, na now I just dey apply for my family. Apply for them now if you can and would want them to be with you here. Then you can travel alone initially and bring them over whenever it is convenient. I hope this doesn't get deleted. |
My posts are being deleted here |
HeyHey:Hey, I just noticed Nairaland deleted the post. Even the one I sent yesterday. DO they have a new rule I broke? Get your kids passport now and apply together for everybody, it is easier. I realised I could only do that from here only when I have personnummer. And my personnummer took about 4 months to be issued (Stockholm matter, I learnt outside stockholm it's quicker). It's not up to one month I got my Swedish ID card. You can get their permit, and then bring them later. But the money in account that should take care of them needs to be considered as well. The Resident permit is work permit. |
HeyHey:sorry, I noticed I couldn't post anything here yesterday. If you ask me, that's not any good deal. It simply means you working 3 hours per day to have a hostel accommodation. If you will be in stockholm, mba! That time is enough to make enough money to pay your rent (5k) and feed yourself. But if you are using it to just get an accommodation before you come in, well, that doesn't sound ok. No be say the accommodation na better one sef. Wait o, na job dem dey offer you and the only payment is an open hostel accommodation? |
I got Nivea lotion and poured some little oil in there, it's been serving. |
subcbouy:Are you in Sweden? The study permit issued to you as a student is work permit in Sweden. I hope people are not mistaking work permit to mean Permanent Residency. For those coming to Sweden, if a potential employer demands for work permit just give your Resident permit, and that is it. The only thing you need to be fine is getting your personnummer (tax ID), many employers wouldn't want to deal without that. But still, some will do. |
HeyHey:I don't understand the 3hrs thing. You do housekeeping for 3 hours daily or what? |
Warning to anyone coming to Stockholm, there are some accommodation scammers on Facebook. If you have anyone around, make sure they check the place before you pay. Anyone who tells you he/she is advertising for someone else, and can only send you pictures, or requests for your email to send you pictures, or passes your phone number to the "landlord" or gives you the "landlord's" number, and the area is Stockholm, then it is 99.999999% scam. |
CaptPlanet:All schools should come with Student Resident Permit, that's what swedish immigration issues to prospective students studying for more than 3 months in Sweden |

Further, don't mind the wait time. Register and join student Union, then register with sssb and start shooting. But accommodation sure pass for Facebook, sssb accomodation is cheap. Also, you can register with some housing agencies (costs between 200 and 400kr per year). Also, bostad.blocket.se Sorry, been away from NL for a while. Which school? Congratulations. |
HeyHey: |
Animera moving ahead |
Yes na, why treat her that way. And to think that most of them carrying out the act are either adulterers or potential adulterers. But, whatever the case, sue her if you think she has done anything wrong. It worries me most times to see that the men who commit adultery are hailed while their sin partners demonized. I hail westerners on matters like this. I stand with Mrs Obiano on this. |
Taah, he didn't commit any suicide |
I just ate eba during lunch in the general dining hall/kitchen. Classmates were like, "what is this?". I tell dem say na eba with egusi soup, Nigerian food. I need to express myself jor. Let them deal with it. I cannot come and be eating dry food all the time, road still far abeg. |
US embassy Abuja has stopped relative interpretation services, they now have professional interpreters. Meaning, only the interviewee is now allowed to enter the embassy, even he/she cannot speak English. |
GAPPLE:Aw, sorry I never lived in Abuja. I can even remember the hotel we stayed in, Yes, we were two. But I don't think that mattered cos na bolt you use go eventually. |
Hahahaha, reduce money for where? Go to France na |
ZingyRacy:Coconut oil, does that small fine? I'll search to see if I can get any of those. Thanks a lot. |
Cream experts talk to me biko |
Hi All, I'll appreciate your advice. I just relocate to a cold region from Nigeria not too long ago. Back in Nigeria, I was not using any cream because I hate sweating. But here, I need to use cream to heat up my body. When I just arrived I bought nivea lotion. I need a cream that smells fine and will not bleach my skin. I thank una in advance. My skin color? Chocolate. |
