ivandragon: I believe the government can access satellite images. It can assign teams that monitor images for specific areas. That way, once the monitoring team notices a deviation, they can send ground teams in.
Another way might be line of sight beacons. The drainage ways can be lined using motion sensor light beacons. Once the line of sight is broken, the office would be alerted so they know exactly where an encroachment might have occurred. While I’m not sure these ideas are workable I appreciate that you made efforts to suggest a possible solution. Perhaps the second one will work in built-up estates that had already existing infrastructure’s to support the light beacons. |

ivandragon: I don't think employment of such large numbers is needed, though I agree with you on the difficulty of monitoring.
This is where innovations are needed. And yes, mass education and transparency would be vital. I’m curious can you cite examples of such innovations that does not require boots of the ground? |

I said that the honorable commissioner came up with that excuse just to wriggle himself out of the quagmire. Simple What do you mean by wriggle? |
Politics › Re: Exchanges Between A Demolition Critic And LASG Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab by lionshare: 6:56am On May 08, 2024 |
ivandragon: The commissioner is right.
There is no need sensationalising the matter. Even common sense should tell one not to build close to a drainage line much less on it.
The government officials too have to be more proactive. Immediately construction starts, demolition the building and charge the owner and contractor for damages and violation of the law.
Don't wait until the building is completed. There’s not much government can do because supervision and monitoring is almost impossible unless you want govt to employ another 30-50k people monitoring property development. However, govt needs to provide mass-education and ensure a transparent and open process. |

Bobloco: That's just an excuse the honorable commissioner gave to wriggle himself out of the quagmire.
Did he investigate to find out why a house given building approval will be demolished after sixteen years by the same government that gave the approval? No difference between you and the critic! Criticizing without critical analysis of the validity or otherwise of your submission. |

MEEVEET: Because of inefficient transmission system, and ineffective bill collection system
Band A people pay far more percentage of bills
It's a very complex issue
If I was minister of power
We would creat 109 industrial zones across every senatorial district... Some zones can give theirs to other zone of they dont have the land
Then we pipe CNG to this zones... At least pipe them to the 6 zones so that state governors can pipe to their people
If we can get industries off the national grid 90% of heavy industry that's would create more space for house holds
2 ) all prepaid meter must be on the pole.. It looks simple but once it's not on the pole it can be manipulated How do we guarantee the safety of the pipelines under a PPP? |

MEEVEET: Obviously you have difficulty comprehending basic English statements
But
1) anyone who can't afford generator cant obviously afford to pay for 24 hours light... That's a known fact
But I was specifically talking about businesses.. But yeah same apply the numbers don't know
2) maintenance of generator, plus gas supplies cost accounted for its still cheaper than national grid electricity in nigeria 100%
3) notice pollution from gas power generators are very negligible and you can always get sound proof ... Most manufacturing machines make for more noise than generators
4) yes gas turbine are designed to work for months none stops... You can always maintain them during public holidays... Even if you get 3 generators it would still be more economical than power grid
5) price of 250 is not the issue but but ratio of price... If CNG price goes up obviously price of national grid electricity goes up too na... 70% of the national grid electricity are produced from CNG also... So what exactly is your point
Is price of electricity static?
I won't be caught dead supporting APC if anything you are closer to their policy than me
Basic problem with Africa is you want to do what the West is doing now... Not what they did they they didn't have constant electricity
There were gas pipeline to homes and industrial areas before constant electricity was a thing... I'm sure u didn't know that God bless you. Most people don’t think through these things electricity cannot be the issue for the size of our economy. However I’d to know if most of the gas turbines are powered by CNG why is the national grid more expensive compared running cng-generator? |

Kepukepu: BVAS and IRev election method is one of the easiest to rig. Any party who's in charge of INEC backend team will win the election.
Most tech people here will agree with how easy it for a backend guy that in charge of database can perform CRUD operations on it and can actually use it to manipulate database.
It's simple, buy INEC backend and do some little rigging work on the field, you will win. If APC can just get 20% of the actual vote, the backend guys will do the remaining.
A tech person will understand what I mean.
This is why I am not even going to waste my time to vote in 2027 These are at best mere assumptions —no logic on how the so called back end rigging will be done. If you do a shoddy job at convincing the people and forging a united front you’ll get the same results. If you’re asked to provide proof of 2023 rigging you’ll start another assumptions series. It’s cold hard numbers not fantasies. |

alizma: Well I appreciate your response but I still want you to understand that; 1. If you must step out to express your dissatisfaction, you have to step out with clear terms of request. 2. Most of our problem are as a result of our actions. The Nigerian government tried to improve on our agricultural and protect the interest of the farmers by banning imported rice, our people hijacked that privileged and today local rice is not affordable for an average Nigerian, the Naira nose-dive sometimes in 2021/2022, since then, Nigerians, especially the celebrities started trading on dollars, they buy dollars that they don't need for travel or purchase, keep it under their pillows and sell when the Naira crashes further, how many youths are talking about crypto currency or gold trading now, the focus is no dollar. 3. If we hit the streets and government decided to act, the moment EFCC picked somebody, people from his area will not focus on whether he is guilty or not, the question will be that is he the only one, why are others not arrested? 4. When dollar was going up, we saw how prices went up but the reverse was the case when dollar crashed against naira, was it the government that was selling garri, onion, yam, tomatoes etc, ? Finally even as you step out to protest, if you jump too much and your phone drops out of your pocket, sope oti lo, He don go |

There are more that 100 businesses that offer products and services in a moderate beach without any investment interest not to talk of 200 million dollars investment.
When a company of these size goes down, a lot of other smaller businesses that offers complimentary businesses and services go down.
The smaller businesses may have 5 to 10 employees but when you multiply it by the number of such businesses, you will understand the after effect of such businesses going down. Do you have a problem with comprehension? |
