Politics › Re: Tinibu Moves To Cripple States With State Police Policy-cadman Spize by lionshare: 12:06pm On Mar 14, 2024
cadmanspize:
Tinibu is hellbent on bankrupting this country in every corner possible?
.
Why would this man relegate responsibilities to struggling states without doing so with funding? What kind of reasoning is behind that? Cluelessnes?
.
Do not misquote me, but one thing is certain: Running government with propaganda & ill-hastly conceived policy is a recipe for destructive failure.
.
You can't rationize such poorly conceived step. Just after depreciating naira by 300% you're now relegating responsibilities to the struggling states_shying away from responsibilities like a typical clueless leader who is now confused of what to do with power after grabbing, snatching & running away with it.
You asserted that he allocated new responsibilities without extra funding, yet the allocation from FAAC to states has surged by more than 100% compared to the previous year, attributed to the removal of subsidies.

Only a Nigerian like you will see political office as space for reward and loyalty.
I am not surprised at your comment given that you support Trump who
epitomises all the worst attribute of a Nigerian politician.
Please refrain from displaying immature behavior; all political positions revolve around interests, which may involve rewards, punishments, or any personal interests of the decision-makers. This principle is sacred regardless of the jurisdiction.
Politics › Re: Why Revolution Is Difficult In A Liberal Democracy by lionshare: 11:50am On Mar 06, 2024
It's great to see so many hypotheses being proposed, but it's equally important to test them to validate their accuracy. If you truly desire a revolution, it should begin at the local or state level. If you're unable to enforce any significant change at your local or state level, it's quite illogical to expect a revolution at the national level.

You alleged that 60% of manufacturers have closed down their factories, but there has only been a 15% decline in total manufacturing output. This seems inconsistent and leads me to believe it is a disguised attempt to persuade the CBN to reinstate those contracts.

Last year while working on a project for a client, I stumbled on a piece written by PwC, an advisory for African markets....the Nigerian situation is so terrible, that I could not hide. I drop it here anonymously.....

On the forex situations, I encourage him to go get 20,00,000 NGN and buy USD, that within three months he will cash out Big time doing nothing! Smart guy, he did accordingly and just sold his last batch of USD, making a hefty RoI.

You see, inflation is good for those with cash, and very bad for those without!

Well, as usual those with corn in Their back pocket called me all sorts of names....well I'm glad the few corn in their pockets is gradually running out, then they will taste the power of bad leadership!

Elections truly has consequences!
Naira depreciation is bad for everyone including those hedging by stockpiling USD as long as you live & spend in naira.

I was able to do my capturing after visiting for the third time. The capturing was smooth and fast as I went for renewal. Once the setbacks are removed, the system will function well.

From my discovery, most of the delays were intentionally done by the officers. If you did physical registration, you have higher attention than online registration. I was there by 7:30 and captured by 4:00pm; and that's after the general boss came and saw my face along few others that did online and was like "I have seen these faces since morning". Out of anger, he took us directly into the capturing room and asked for our files. My file was just sitting there with vetted written on top. But anyway, thank God for everything.

The passport would be ready for collection in 3 weeks time.

Lol. It’s not that simple. The total deal is 2.4 billion dollars. 1.3 is the first payment, the rest will be paid upon certain deliverables being transferred. They also take up the liabilities of SPDC so it is not as straight forward as you think. But in the end, I agree with you that 1.5 billion dollars for rehab of a refinery is a lot
Irrespective of the cost of repairs we urgently need to sell down our stake in the refinery if we are to make significant headways towards energy security.

At the end the day, everything about Nigeria is about personal, tribal and religion interests.
if you cannot find a personal connection then there is no interest----which is what politics is all about--purely interests. I find it ridiculous when people say politicians are selfish even if you goal is actual social-progress it is still selfish.

what sort of unbalance news is this? Currency depreciation is a two way street while some will lose when reporting their revenues in USD those with USD will have huge gains when converted to LCY. This is the reason for the huge earnings of the banks last year.

Why should a telco do that?what's now in it for them?
Also, you need some certain devices to access Netflix, will the telcos also provide that? Then why?over N50 movie?nah...
You can only take piracy out of business by law enforcement,no other foreseeable way.
What asaba does is the best thing for this market,
Produce as cheap as possible, distribute faster than the pirates and sell at similar price points and move to the next content.
Nothing else.
All these bougee ideas are dead on arrival.
You can’t take piracy out by law enforcement same way you can’t take out drugs out by law enforcement. The only guaranteed way is to eliminate the demand via reducing the cost of accessing the original films by the people. Why would I want to buy a CD when I can watch same movie for less than the cost of the CD?
Piracy is the reason we’ve many poor actors and actresses who often have to resort to public donations to survive especially when they’ve health challenges. The pirates takes all the money while the movie-makers & actors only gain fame without significant income.

As for the telcos, the guaranteed income stream is enough motivation. Lastly, there’s nothing Bourgeois about the idea because currently Netflix does not charge same price in Nigeria compared to US or UK.

You need Serious data to watch Netflix in the first place, poor masses can't afford that.
Not to talk of devices you'd need to access the Netflix,
Smart TV,WiFi box,data,etc...
It's not the Netflix subscription but associated cost.
So you see, piracy and asaba movies lives on...The 2 industries will exist concurrently, serving different markets grin
I think this is the point I was trying to address with the N50 per movie suggestion; the stakeholders like netflix can partner with the telcos to offer movies for a specific amount per movie data-free. This strategy will take piracy out of business and deliver more revenue for stakeholders which leads to higher quality & more income for everyone in the long run.

That second question is not necessary. It's clear who he supported. Only one set of people are dense enough to make such braindead proposal as the op. So, how do you make a monarchy work in a multi ethnic setting like Nigeria, when you're already complaining about democracy in that same setting? I find it hard to believe an adult will have this absolutely low level of reasoning as the op. Lemme just assume it's the pain that brought such level of "reasoning".
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Pls lets maintain decorum

UAE and Saudi are doing well, if they start doing poorly, you will see the monarchy deposed,Thailand is an example, the monarchy though not deposed yet but was shaken
None of these countries you mentioned allows press freedom as you have in Nigeria. Think through your suggestion, Nigeria is better off with a confederal-democracy like Belgium, Switzerland & Canada. Weak center, Strong regions/states will accelerate development and eliminate most of the problems inherent in the current setup.

As a fallout of the civil war the center became super-strong to ensure no component units has the capacity to engage FG in any confrontation or breakaway but I think that era is long gone. Despite the seeming unending tribal clashes we are too interwoven to wage any inter-tribal war or breakaway.

Wow!!! They have coverd the lacuna........Alaba..... by using cinema and other means to get back their profits. Good job.
Congrats to her!

Netflix needs to create a sort of cheaper pay as you go plan(like watch a movie for N100 or N50), this way we can discourage piracy.
