babasolution: There's shrinking press freedom in NIG under this democracy and it can get worse,
A king can be deposed besides, even the worst monarchs have fear of their own people unlike democracy were a political ruler can always pass the buck How many monarchical country do you know that the king was deposed in the last decade purely by the citizens not with no external support? If you find any, How is such country fairing economically as of today? Even if you think the press freedom is shrinking in NG it is still way better than any monarchy in the world including UAE & Saudi. |

babasolution: Democracy has been demystified in Nigeria, it really doesn't look like the best form of government for Nigeria.
The biggest issue of democracy is that it gives room for a lot of excuses,it makes politicians unaccountable especially for Nigerian democracy.
Many political office holders can easily make excuses for themselves and pass the buck.
Governors will blame the presidency, presidency will blame governors, lg chairman will blame governors,
Governors will blame legislators, legislators will blame judiciary and vice versa.
At the end of it no one can be held accountable
I think if we had a monarchial style government, the ruler or rulers can be held accountable for their failures.
And if they don't remedy these failures a revolution can easily occur as everyone will be focused on the ruler.
However, this can't be practiced in NIG, unless NIG breaks up and every tribe is ruled by its own royal family.
Democracy has failed in Nigeria. Politicians are just catching cruise Toying and joking with their positions because they know they wud never be held accountable.
Many politicians in top spots don't deserve were they are, they are just ruining a nation without consequences. I have some questions! 1. How will you hold a KING accountable? 2. Who did you support during the last election? 3. Do you think there is press freedom in a monarchy system? |

Don't write off Fubara. He will plant a strong headed stooge at the House of Assembly to checkmate some members loyal to Wike. Bluntemperor: You are not getting it- because we are talking about food for all Nigerians,so whatever that can drive the Price down and make it affordable for Nigerians,is highly welcome! • I once Suggested to President Tinubu: • to allow Massive Rice Importations - in view of the CBN- failures to get Farmers Money through the Anchor Borrowers Money Unaccounted- running into NTrillions, according to Reports, because of Fraudulent Manipulations Activities, from CBN Past Management,so Farmers have no money and therefore there are no Seed Plantation and No Foods for Nigerians! A hungry Nation, are angry People! •Added to this is the Criminal activities of Bokoharam, Kidnappers, the Terrorists-chasing away the Farmers and destroying their Farmlands,Houses and Properties, especially in the Northern Nigeria! Security is a Must for Farmers! • The best Short term Solutions is to Imports Rice ( which the CBN Management have done,by lifting the ban with )other 42- Other Items and Subsidized it for the next 3- yrs and the Nigerian Government - should now seat down with Federal and State Agencies, and Farmers Co-Operative ,on how we can have good Food Surplies and Surplus on a Longer Term and Exports some to other Foreign Countries to earn Foreign Exchange Currencies- Short term and Long Term Measures must be embraced by Nigerians! • So far, CBN have not given the nods that it had lifted the Ban of these Items- as Nigerians are not hearing from the Agriculture Minister- who are those Importing the Rice- for Nigerians to hold them Accountable,as nobody is talking to the Masses- when do we have the Rice and others in Nigeria, even the Customs Officials are stopping and arresting those bringing Rice through Idi- Iroko and othe borders,as if they have not read the Orders to Import Rice, etc! Meanwhile Nigerians are hungry! •Dr Adesina-of AfDB-did this ,while he was an Agriculture Minister then under GEJ and even have Open -Wallets - for Farmers- to Fund their Farms,so since the Minister left Nigeria,so what went Wrong with Agriculture Sector? Who do we hold Accountable in Agriculture Sector now? Good idea! IMO it does not appear as if we have comparative advantage in rice/paddy production compared to corn/meat---lets focus on the areas we are certain of results. |

TheGift: They can peg all they want, they can never peg the laws of demand and supply. The scarcer the product, the higher the price. 20,000 bags, for a state of 20 million people and the highest consumers of rice? You do the math. If you want them to do better first acknowledge the efforts made thus far, if every state can produce 40K bags of rice this yuletide life will be better. Its okay to say its expensive & inadequate but admit the positives which includes jobs provision amongst others; that is how you ensure incremental development. Even as individual you will pay more attention to someone who is willing to acknowledge your efforts while making suggestions on how to you can do better than someone who castigate you all the time. |

LordAdam16: I asked you to tell me the exact amount NNPCL remitted to the Federation Account. You're giving me a shitty, inaccurate estimate.
We don't sell our crude at the exact average brent crude price. That figure you shared does not account for PSC deductions. It also does not account for oil swap liabilities or other obligations of the NNPCL.
You just take figures at face value and go on the offensive without understanding what it is you're talking about.
NNPCL resumed remittances to the Federation Account in June of this year after 18 months of zero remittance. https://www.thecable.ng/nnpc-payment-of-n123bn-to-faac-shows-were-moving-in-right-direction
That's what I'm asking for. Tell me what they remitted for September 2023.
Do you have trouble understanding the English language? Read that writ again and identify who said the loan funds will be disbursed this week.

Now if you'll excuse me...
-Lord Here is a link to oil receipts in September 2023 https://businessday.ng/energy/oilandgas/article/nigerias-crude-oil-revenue-soars-by-%E2%82%A6274bn-in-september-on-improved-output/?amp=1 I asked for a source of your acclaimed leak you provided an article which reference a public statement by the president. Perhaps you need to read through the article; how on earth is a statement credited to the president still a leak? Referring to me as ignorant is quite ridiculous but as long as it does not reduce my bank account it’s just tantrums. Since you’re the learned one kindly provide proof of a leak that does not reference the president. I mean can you call a public statement by policy makers a leak days after their statement. |

Our inflow from crude sales is fuzzy. How much we're producing. The discounts. What percentage is earmarked for pending obligations (like the crude oil swap agreement). All of those are hard to make out if you're not an insider.
-Lord You have no business discussing this topic if you do not know how much oil we are producing. There is nothing fuzzy about it our production has been marginally increasing for the past few months. Again you are pushing your opinion with no fact. |

Business › Re: CBN Begins To Clear FOREX Backlog by lionshare: 6:43pm On Nov 02, 2023 |
LordAdam16: They leaked to the press that they'd receive funds this week from foreign lenders and start clearing the backlog. They made this inaccurate disclosure because they had to stem the drop in the parallel market.
If this week had ended without any action on the backlog, it'd have led to a surge next week. That's why they're tapping into the reserves. Preliminary reports state they took out $1B.
I guess they'll stagger it every two weeks or thereabout until they receive the funds which they'll then use to plug the leaking reserve. Meanwhile the downward pressure on rates will hold. Ensuring a near-term band of 900-1100.
All of this is contingent on those funds coming in before the end of the year. If they don't, we'd have a negative net reserve and rates will crash with a vengeance. It'd have been great if the Dangote Refinery had commenced gasoline refining. But while it may yet kick off before the end of the year. It'll take a while to ramp up. Most of our crude is earmarked for export to secure prized $.
The CBN is trying to restore belief and confidence in their capacity to meet institutional obligations. To that end, this is helpful.
-Lord You claimed CBN leaked the news to the press yet the both BAT & Wale Edun mentioned it during the NESG event recently. How is that still a leak? How do you know for certain that the anticipated funds are yet to come in? Please provide proof otherwise you are only assuming! Why are you implying your personal assumptions to be fact?? |

July - August - September = 31 + 31 + 30 = 92 days Total debt (internal & external) = N54.13tn + N33.25tn = N87.38tn
National debt accrued daily = N87.38tn ÷ 92 days = N949,782,608,696
So my fellow country people, what this thread is trying to tell us is that, for the past 92 days, Nigeria as a country has been accumulating a daily debt burden of Nine hundred and forty-nine billion, seven hundred and eighty-two million, six hundred and eight thousand six hundred and ninety-six naira ONLY (emphasis on the ONLY at the end of that string letting you know there is no KOBO value in that figure)
