moodswing: I disagree. Goodluck Jonathan is educated yet he he's about to grant Boko Haram Amnesty.

Obama is highly educated, yet he pitched tent with homosexuals.

Idiocy has become part of human existence, and that's the major cause of bad leadership.

? eh?
You really want to compare the potential granting of amnesty to a terrorist group thats killed hundreds to support gay rights?
Politics / Re: Transparency International Disowns Transparency In Nigerian Organisation by livethinme: 3:29pm On Apr 14, 2013
some of you amaze me.

So even though TI Nigeria used the name and logo of an organisation, because they didnt say they are affiliated with said organisation, that somehow makes it okay?

eko ilee:

The abuja stadium is still a mess unless you have pictures to show us stating its current state.

That's even irrelevant, the question is, why was the stadium neglected and let rot .? why? where was the government? where was the sports ministry.? where was football federation.? After spending billions on repairs, It's still going to be neglected all over again because the sane lazy, corrupt and incompetent people are still in charge.

You sure the money went on repairs?

This point is that these stuff have not really existed over the years. Most of these stuff are really starting from scratch. That is one credit people dont give to the current FG. People comment like they have been in power forever. Most of these projects they have started are less than 2 years old. I am waiting to personally critic the new portal. I dont expect it to be wow, but I do expect it to be functional and to provide the right information and services. If it provides the services as listed in the announcement and it works well, I will commend them. I dont care much about the aesthetics. But if the function and services dont work, I will give them the stick.

You mean a website for the federal government?
Webmasters / Re: Nigeria Has No Functional Official Web Portal by livethinme: 6:02pm On Apr 12, 2013
thelastPope:

It isnt about defending them. It is about round pegs in round holes. Just because you critic something doesnt make you right. I dont like the website, but the criticism is wrong for 2 reasons:

1. They just announced they are launching a new web portal on the 16th. If you have to criticize, then that is the one to critic when it is launched.

2. Main govenrment websites are never designed to be sleek and elaborate. It isnt an entertainment site. Each agency is responsible for their own web portal. All you need is some kind of synergy. That is why I posted the USA government website. It isnt sleek and isnt so elaborate. Each agency have their own portals. Only some central issues are handled on the main government website.

So there is nothing wrong with criticism, but this thread is unnecessary. If anything, a thread to critic should be opened after the launch of the new portal. Criticism against government isnt the new intelligence like some of you think. lol

1. Sure, and we should critic the new one as well. However, this doesn't stop us from criticising the current website....which doesn't exist.

2. I agree with you, it doesn't have to look nice (although I think it should), it should contain relevant information thats user friendly and readily available. Thats the problem though..there is no website.

Saying that we should wait until the launch of the new portal is unfair because millions of naira are still being poured into the maintenance of these federal websites. Even if a new one is about to be launched, a skeleton service should still be available for people who require information.

Not true at all. Most of you just spew wrong information.

http://www.usa.gov/

That is the American government site. Doesnt pay host to all other sites. It is actually a simple site without any flare. Each department has a responsibility to promote their own site

And this one is for general info about the workings of the gov. Its a failure, stop trying to defend them.
How many millions of Naira have been diverted to improve federal governmental websites? Clearly there are incompetent people within the responsible ministry.
Culture / Re: Interesting Images From Precolonial And Early Colonial Africa by livethinme: 10:46am On Apr 12, 2013
The most annoying thing is. Tell me, what is Nigeria doing to preserve pre-colonial culture?
We talk and talk and talk and act patriotic and against west etc..
But WHERE can you find such relics in Nigeria?
(BTW Im sure that they exist, but where can you find them?..are there internet sites etc)
Are there are well known Nigerian archaeologists etc..?

dangaye: What is so special about English langauge that my southern folk love to cherish so well most often to the detriment of their African langauges?
The Hausa people always prepare to respect their culture by preserving their native langauge rather than subjecting themselves to imperialism to use the Colonists langauge. That is why th British Government always respect them. Because anybody that abandones his culture, that person has lost his identity.

Nothing really, its only the lingua franca of the world
Politics / Re: Why Don't We Have BBC Igbo Or Yoruba Service by livethinme: 7:44pm On Apr 11, 2013
parki: because Igbo and Yorubas are more enlightened and even though we speak our native languages, a najority of us understand and speak English perfectly. So we don't really need it. Hausas on the other hand need it do because only a few of them can understand or speak english Language. That's just my opinion on why we have BBC hausa and don't have for the other tribes. I may be wrong.

The reason has been said a million times already. You're just trying to bad-mouth Hausas

Sports / Nigeria Withdraw From African Nations Championship Qualifiers by livethinme: 2:15pm On Apr 11, 2013
The Nigeria Football Federation has withdrawn its team from the 2014 African Nations Championship qualifiers due to financial constraints.
Nigeria were set to play Ivory Coast in Calabar between 21-23 June, in the tournament for locally-based players.
The NFF's Emeka Inyama announced that the withdrawal was taken by the football authority to cut costs.
"We have a lot of financial commitments and we have to look at the competitions in order of importance," he explained.

Your argument on mutual consent is flawed! Consent can be gotten by persuasion in all three instances I gave. It still doesnt make it right. Homosexuality is an aberration in all aspect. Human body is not designed for it. It causes serious medical conditions, most of which are sadly being suppressed by the media.

I didnt know Animals could give permission to have something rammed up there..
Foreign Affairs / Re: Margaret Thatcher Is Dead by livethinme: 3:18pm On Apr 08, 2013
naptu2: I remember that she diplomatically rejected the Emir of Kano's gift (a horse).

I remember the poll tax riots of 1989 (boy, that wasn't funny).

British Leyland, British Airways/British Caledonian, Jaguar, etc were all owned by the government before Mrs Thatcher's privatisation programme kicked in.

Basically, her idea was to cut government spending and shore up its finances by privatising state owned companies, increasing taxes and cutting benefits for the poor.

Her measures boosted businesses and the rich, but were unfavourable to the poor. Mrs Thatcher said that the effects of her policies would trickle down (I.e when the rich and businesses get more money, they'll employ more workers and also buy more stuff). Someone (wish I could remember who) responded that, in Thatcher's plan, the rich are like a horse eating something, while the poor are waiting for what will trickle down the other end of the horse (the anus).

Didnt she cut taxes for businesses and the rich?

Okija_juju: On Judgement day, All Mentally challenged persons (Ndi Ara) are all heading to hell.

REasons;

1. The Bible attributes Madness to demon possesion so I dont think a Demon possessed person will enter heaven.

2. Heaven is a happy place for cool Christians. NO NDI ARA ALLOWED.

Wait so all mentally challenged people are demon possessed and therefore will not enter into heaven?

mens dept: It was the same Bill Clinton who did for us what we, the so-called giant of AFrica, a country of over 150 mill could not do for ourselves, that is, democracy.

Bill Clinton was one of the best governors in America (unlike GEJ is Bayelsa) and was a great president, even till date he's well received in his country, where people instead of just copy copy like Nigeria, get their hands dirty if need be to protect their rights.

Yet we in Nigeria expect to have constant light, good roads, and world class soccer stadiums and airports, yet we cant drag out those pastors owning private jets nor generals like IBB and beat them the way we do petty criminals on the street. We dont want to have a serious revolution like all those countries that we run to for vacation or visa, yet expect our government to overnite be transparent.

GEJ can pardon yet can't progress his country like other men for their people.

NOT THE PASTORS, YOU CANT TOUCH THE PASTORS OOOOOOO
They are sacred private jet owners, do you not know?

It clearly isnt a deterrent since thieving still happens. This whole I love to see a man naked, khai I dunno. If they beat the crap out of him then okay..I guess its better than when they used to burn them
