Goddex: Atleast, Jay-Z and beyonce sing and perform.
They are entertainers. 150m could be viewed as investment
because a chunk of it could be recouped.

Fashola paid 500m for Kim Kadarshian who does not sing nor
dance nor perform. She only put up a less than 45 minutes
appearance, talked for three minutes after which she jetted out via a
waiting plane but yet pocketed 500m of lagos taxpayers money.

Oh really? Tell me what kind of investment?

(Actually in 2006 why did they come to Nigeria? -for a concert?)

PapaBrowne: Anybody that believes Saharareporters would believe anything.
The article has only one purpose: To distract from the news that Fashola paid 500,000 USD for Kim Kardashain's visit.
2006 is 7 years ago. We really cant be bothered about that right now. We've seen worse, like the 2,2 billion naira 150 seater hall in Abuja.

The news of the day is Fashola's $500,000 on Kim Kardashain and it would be fool hardy for Sahareporters to try to distract us from that reality and prevent us from asking Fashola the right questions.
What? It was Fashola that did it?

The west have proven that they only care about their interest and they use the back of countries like us as stepping stones to the top. We must know and engage with our "real" friends in the world.

Click out of here and check out a couple of threads and you will very likely find the likes of Rossikk frothing from the mouth on why Nigeria isn't a failed state.

Should I be surprised at that though considering its Nigeria?

Imagine, no one even asked the man if he wanted his bloodied face all over the internet. No matter, who cares? Its all about making sure you get your 'fix' and then as you say telling people what happened, showing them your picture then saying may God help us, nja dey, going to church and praying having not lifted a single finger to help the man in pain when you were at the scene.

And then some fools on here tell me that Nigeria has morality, whilst the west is losing hers. Please.

Afro_Blue:

One has to wonder why the FG or state government awarded the road contract to foreigners, and why didn't the company employ 9ja workers?

Nigeria foreign workers abducted in Bauchi state

At least six foreign workers have been seized and a security guard shot dead by gunmen who attacked a construction company site in northern Nigeria, officials say.

One of the workers seized was Italian, one was Greek and two others Lebanese.

But UK officials could not confirm a report that another was British.

No-one has admitted the abductions but the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, has staged a series of attacks in northern Nigeria.

A security guard was killed as the attackers targeted the workers' camp at Jama'are in Bauchi state.

Correspondents say it is the biggest kidnapping in northern Nigeria in recent times.

The kidnapping of foreigners and wealthy Nigerians is common in the oil-rich Niger Delta region, in the south of the country, and has become a lucrative trade for criminals.

Oil workers and other foreign nationals are often targeted because companies pay high ransom money to secure their employees' release, correspondents say.
Police station attacked

Lebanese foreign minister Adnan Mansour said two of those held were from Lebanon.

An Italian and a Greek national were also abducted from the site run by Lebanese-owned firm Setraco, the foreign ministries in Rome and Athens confirmed.

Another of those seized was a Filipino, a union leader at Setraco told the BBC.

The Italian ambassador in Abuja said, "Italy's absolute priority is the safety of its compatriot," Ansa news agency reported.

A UK foreign office spokesman said it was investigating reports of a Briton being kidnapped.

The raid was preceded by an attack on the local police station, when two vehicles were blown up, in the town of Jama'are, some 125 miles (200km) north of the state capital, Bauchi.

The attackers then moved on to a camp belonging to Setraco, killing a guard and seizing the workers. Setraco is currently expanding a major road in the area.

The state capital has itself been attacked several times by Boko Haram, which wants to impose Sharia (Islamic law) across Nigeria.

Earlier this month, nine polio vaccinators were shot dead at two health centres in northern Nigeria.

Some Nigerian Muslim leaders have previously opposed polio vaccinations, claiming they could cause infertility.

Boko Haram has emerged as one of the most prolific militant groups in West Africa, carrying out a large number of low-level attacks but also some more sophisticated attacks.

Some companies prefer to send their own workers to African countries rather than hire African workers. You see this a lot with the Chinese companies I think

As for boko haram states just bid farewell to road const. N other infrasture dev.
You know there are organisations like doctors without borders that sends doctors to various places to aid with the administration of healthcare. Some of these doctors know that these places arent the safest but go anyways because of I guess a sense of duty.
btw I dunno why nigerians always see this as Europeans..u do realise that there are many Asians in nja as well?

Any finished work to showcase?....so we see the standard of work done. The 2nd to last pic; is it the 'finished' product?

They should do 'quality/world class' work on Aba roads; and this includes- underground drainage, sidewalks, street lights, traffic lights, road markings, road signage, planting of trees/shrubs for improved ambience, daily sweeping of dust/dirt gathering on the sides and weekly clearing of open gutters (as i see in some of the pics shown), etc-etc-etc.

Aba is the goose that lays the golden egg, and deserves nothing less; it should be presented in the best possible way and (with the coming of 24 hour power supply) could easily be the most attractive city for investments/commerce in the entire country within 10 years.

World class?..you mean how roads should look like in the 21st cen.?

This depends on which side of the coin you find yourself! Unfortunately, majority of people find themselves on the poverty side where countless regimes of corrupt governments has failed them miserably.

Nigeria for instance, the first lady is getting 4bn to build a 'mission' building, when there are countless impoverished people all around the country.

Misplaced priorities, over-reliance on religion
, greed and ignorance is regressing the continent. Regress? I mean stagnating its developments.

Too bad.

Nigerians arent willing to accept the fact that a massive over-reliance on religion is a problem.
