So If i pay people money to slit your throat, i am doing a good thing because i'm providing employment abi?

You do not seem to get the (obvious) point. Why is he giving out Federal Civil service jobs? What authority does he have? What due process?

Jesus said "Give unto Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser" as a way to spur his disciples to obey legal authority and pay taxes. There is a code of conduct and rules governing the employment of workers into the civil service. None of them include advertising solely through a church and having a 'man of God' give out such jobs.

Just stop it jo..dont you understand? This is NJA! Where Pastors are worshipped like Gods and can do whatever they want without question, or do you not know that?

Why does it surprise you that this pastor was able to give out Federal Civil service jobs and anyone who questions why a religious figure was able to hand out federal jobs is deemed as insane, crazy + the ones who always complain. This is NJA oo!

There was no shortage of such personnel in the Nigerian delegation. It's not as if they had to remove a prof or economist in order to let Peter Okoye in! You do not know the exact role played by PSquare, or the thinking behind their invitation. And have made no inquiry. All you've seen is a picture, and seen their faces at the summit and thought, ''they shouldn't be there, they're musicians''. Stop thinking like a programmed ROBOT.

How isn't she? What ''qualifications'' are required?

You only see ''mediocrity'' in it because you see the name Nigeria attached to it. If the Americans had done the same thing and won global plaudits for their 'inclusiveness' etc, you would be here drooling over them. It's Nigeria so you think you can talk down at us. Aren't you smarter and wiser than the rest of us combined including our 'clueless govt'?

Is the UN also ''clueless and medicocre'' in appointing actress Angelina Jolie as its goodwill ambassador? She even attends G8 summits and pallies with world leaders:

http://news.sky.com/story/1076845/angelina-jolie-joins-hague-at-g8-in-london

If she can do stuff like this (ie extend US cultural hegemony), why can't P Square do the same on behalf of Nigeria?

If the US doid the same thing, I would also disagree with it. I would have said Obama's crase don ripe...

Thats why I said, can you imagine Jay Z being part of an economic delegation to some forum? Of course not, and it is right like that.

Why should Kelly Rowland be a voice for young people? I'm quite confused at that statement. If you're just going to pick random celebs, what about..mhm I dunno Justin Bieber?..Actually, he would even be better than Rowland.

Theres no 'talking down' involved here; the Nigerian government sent a musician as an economic representative to a World Economic forum and you are trying to defend this stupidity by the government.

I don't really agree with the hiring of celebs by the UN. However, they are good in some capacity, namely in creating awareness of various causes. Some charities use celebrities to propagate a message; the Red Cross used some Youtube star to promote the idea of first aid.
However, this is an economic forum meant to discuss economic policy and trade between various African country. Psquare should NOT be there as a representative of the Nigerian government and economy. If you want to have a representative from the entertainment industry, it should be someone who can discuss the impact of governmental policy on the entertainment industry. I suspect that Psquare cannot do this.

But carry on spouting rubbish.

Get rid of that mentality. Everyone can learn from everyone. Nigeria is well within the remit of dynamism required of an emerging nation, by being pro-active, adaptive, and creative in the eliciting of international attention as a growing economic, cultural and entertainment hub and destination on the African continent. Investors take all sorts of elements into consideration when deciding which nations to invest in, and as an emerging country, you go in with your best shot. The US does not NEED to do all this, as they're not in the position of an emerging nation seeking an expanded field of investment partners. Then again, the Americans may just see what Nigeria did that and think - especially if they have a pro-active Secretary of State - ''why not go with Kelly Rowland to the next G8 summit as a voice of the younger generation?''

Everyone can learn from anyone. But when its about a government funded delegation to an global economic forum, I would expect the government to send people who are well knowledgeable in the area. Professors, economists, business leaders etc..not musicians.

The Kelly Rowland thing is also stupid. How is Kelly Rowland qualified to be a voice for the younger generation?

you are trying to justify mediocrity just like many Nigerians justify many mediocre things the government does.

In Nigeria, i have noticed that once you have money you can have as much women as u want. It's same everywhere but it's crazy in nigeria. And by women I aint talking about hos or runs girls. Im talking about supposed good girls, and girl from well brought of homes and even sometimes wealthy homes, well educated who you should tink shud naturally marry for love or future prospects. It's jst and observation. Nigerian women give a whole lot of priority to finance when picking a patner maybe due to the situation of the country - nepotism, corruption, materialism. Maybe if more girls married for love they would marry ealier. Ever noticed that guys that marry young ( say 24- say 28) are usually from very wealthy families?

The kind of things I see some nja girls say on fb -share a pic of an iPhone 5, oh my future hubby will love me with this, i dey think..mhm nja girls for you

If you go round African countries today as i have been to quite a few you will be shocked and amazed at the popularity of PSquare and Aki/Pawpaw. Today in Africa we export more of entertainment than oil (just top of my head, no proof to back up). On a visit to kenya 2 years ago from the airport the moment i spoke they knew am Nigerian and they started speaking pidgin to me which they picked up from movies and music. I see a Nigeria Entertainment industry contributing massively to the wealth of Nigeria just like Hollywood is doing in America but first we must pass the 2015(dooms day predicted by CIA).

Koolking: Most Nigerians are just too sentimental to consider issues rationally. Policemen got killed in the face off between Ombatse youths and the police. I can tell you, it is this obvious attitudes of "i am the law, and not the law enforcer" of our uniform men that got them the gift of graves in Nassarawa. They seem to gloss-over their true callings - peacemakers and law enforcers. Be a mediator, look for a way to quell the fire and not stoking fire. They see their guns as steroids and they feel they can always achieve their aims with gun intimidations. I am a strong proponent of our security overhaul if we are serious about protecting life and properties in Nigeria. It is high time the police are made to realise they are to serve and not be served. Security will continue to be a mirage unless Police are friends to the public not in words but actions. Enough of these wanton bloodsheds.

Yes!! I always think to myself sometimes, do they think about what they are saying?

I am a Christian too saved by grace but I am disgusted by the average Nigerian Christian. With all the churches constantly popping up in all nooks and crannies of Nigeria, yet the average Nigerian is materialistic, money greedy, a tribalist bigot, a religious fanatic, aggressive, arrogant, pompous, dishonest, corrupt, filled with lust, discriminatory, bribe takers, cultists, drug traffickers, loud, and the list goes on.

Even the bible warns of Christians who are constant hearers of the word and never doers. Why do you think Christ said that not everyone who is calling on him Lord, Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven? With all the churches in Nigeria yet the whole world knows that the average Nigerian is corrupt to the bone. So what are the pastors doing? Are they sleeping?

And then when the Pastors say this in the church they will nod in agreement, without even knowing that its them he is talking about

mhm interesting. Churches in the UK are considered Charity as well....not in the strictest sense obviously, but its pretty much assumed that as a Church you will take part in charitable tasks within your community. Something thats lost on loads (not all) of Nigerian churches, who do things to benefit the church and not God.

What? im not asking him to boast about anything. Im saying, what has he done to help his community? And you cant even answer that question.

Even some of the African churches in London have programs to help the poor.

Urgh. Christianity is not something that is meant to be hidden. Is it meant to be open and inviting for all to come and experience what God has. Its meant to be a light in the darkness, not some sort of house that is closed off until you enter.

I have no problems with pastors expanding and preaching the word of God. I do have problems with people like who you blindly follow and do everything they say. Pastors in Nigeria are seen more as Gods than as Pastors and that is a problem, particularly because they mess around in politics/with politicians. Heck' we have situations in the east where a Pastor in a village can say that a child has the spirit of wizardry in him and said child will be promptly excommunicated from his home.

Another thing. Imagine, look at the state of Nigeria. Look at the state of its moral values. Unless you're going to defend Nigeria and say that everything there is in tip-top condition.
I understand the need to expand, but why dont these pastors try and improve the morality in Nigeria, which is pretty much non-existent. Or why dont they invest in programs to empower young people to find work, programs for the poor etc..or even use their influence in politics to convince the lawmakers to actually give a dam about the country (if they already do then fine).
This is one of the reasons I laugh when some Nigerians say that although the west is doing better economically, at least we have our morals LOL

Oh and I dont need/want more of this God dey attitude which has plagued our nation since kingdom come.
