texazzpete: Just stop it jo..dont you understand? This is NJA! Where Pastors are worshipped like Gods and can do whatever they want without question, or do you not know that? Why does it surprise you that this pastor was able to give out Federal Civil service jobs and anyone who questions why a religious figure was able to hand out federal jobs is deemed as insane, crazy + the ones who always complain. This is NJA oo! Thats all. |

Rossikk: If the US doid the same thing, I would also disagree with it. I would have said Obama's crase don ripe... Thats why I said, can you imagine Jay Z being part of an economic delegation to some forum? Of course not, and it is right like that. Why should Kelly Rowland be a voice for young people? I'm quite confused at that statement. If you're just going to pick random celebs, what about..mhm I dunno Justin Bieber?..Actually, he would even be better than Rowland. Theres no 'talking down' involved here; the Nigerian government sent a musician as an economic representative to a World Economic forum and you are trying to defend this stupidity by the government. I don't really agree with the hiring of celebs by the UN. However, they are good in some capacity, namely in creating awareness of various causes. Some charities use celebrities to propagate a message; the Red Cross used some Youtube star to promote the idea of first aid. However, this is an economic forum meant to discuss economic policy and trade between various African country. Psquare should NOT be there as a representative of the Nigerian government and economy. If you want to have a representative from the entertainment industry, it should be someone who can discuss the impact of governmental policy on the entertainment industry. I suspect that Psquare cannot do this. But carry on spouting rubbish. |

Rossikk: Everyone can learn from anyone. But when its about a government funded delegation to an global economic forum, I would expect the government to send people who are well knowledgeable in the area. Professors, economists, business leaders etc..not musicians. The Kelly Rowland thing is also stupid. How is Kelly Rowland qualified to be a voice for the younger generation? you are trying to justify mediocrity just like many Nigerians justify many mediocre things the government does. |

kama1210: right, the US -the world's strongest economy, should copy from Nigeria on economic matters. If you think that including musicians in economic delegations to economic forums is a good thing, then well Nigeria is really lost isnt it |

gbokukueba: This is for all of you that objects these entertainers being on the Nigerian delegation. For the record i am not a pro GEJ but i think the idea is noble. If you go round African countries today as i have been to quite a few you will be shocked and amazed at the popularity of PSquare and Aki/Pawpaw. Today in Africa we export more of entertainment than oil (just top of my head, no proof to back up). On a visit to kenya 2 years ago from the airport the moment i spoke they knew am Nigerian and they started speaking pidgin to me which they picked up from movies and music. I see a Nigeria Entertainment industry contributing massively to the wealth of Nigeria just like Hollywood is doing in America but first we must pass the 2015(dooms day predicted by CIA). USA exports more entertainment than Nigeria. Should Brad Pitt and Lil' Wayne be on economic delegations in the future? |

Koolking: Most Nigerians are just too sentimental to consider issues rationally. Policemen got killed in the face off between Ombatse youths and the police. I can tell you, it is this obvious attitudes of "i am the law, and not the law enforcer" of our uniform men that got them the gift of graves in Nassarawa. They seem to gloss-over their true callings - peacemakers and law enforcers. Be a mediator, look for a way to quell the fire and not stoking fire. They see their guns as steroids and they feel they can always achieve their aims with gun intimidations. I am a strong proponent of our security overhaul if we are serious about protecting life and properties in Nigeria. It is high time the police are made to realise they are to serve and not be served. Security will continue to be a mirage unless Police are friends to the public not in words but actions. Enough of these wanton bloodsheds. Yes!! I always think to myself sometimes, do they think about what they are saying? |

idnoble135: mhm interesting. Churches in the UK are considered Charity as well....not in the strictest sense obviously, but its pretty much assumed that as a Church you will take part in charitable tasks within your community. Something thats lost on loads (not all) of Nigerian churches, who do things to benefit the church and not God. What? im not asking him to boast about anything. Im saying, what has he done to help his community? And you cant even answer that question. Even some of the African churches in London have programs to help the poor. Also look, you say he doesnt have to boast, yet THE DEPUTY PRESIDENT IS GOING TO BE AT THE LAUNCH. Like I said, only for himself and his church. |

idnoble135: Really? Okay then. Can you tell me some programs the man has funded and been part of? how has he influenced policy to better the working class/poor and those who are out of work? I'm not saying dont receive prophets at all. I'm saying dont blindly follow them, just because they say they are prophets, doesnt mean they are. You know that and im sure when your pastor said it you were nodding in agreement. |

idnoble135: Urgh. Christianity is not something that is meant to be hidden. Is it meant to be open and inviting for all to come and experience what God has. Its meant to be a light in the darkness, not some sort of house that is closed off until you enter. 2 Likes |

idnoble135: I have no problems with pastors expanding and preaching the word of God. I do have problems with people like who you blindly follow and do everything they say. Pastors in Nigeria are seen more as Gods than as Pastors and that is a problem, particularly because they mess around in politics/with politicians. Heck' we have situations in the east where a Pastor in a village can say that a child has the spirit of wizardry in him and said child will be promptly excommunicated from his home. Another thing. Imagine, look at the state of Nigeria. Look at the state of its moral values. Unless you're going to defend Nigeria and say that everything there is in tip-top condition. I understand the need to expand, but why dont these pastors try and improve the morality in Nigeria, which is pretty much non-existent. Or why dont they invest in programs to empower young people to find work, programs for the poor etc..or even use their influence in politics to convince the lawmakers to actually give a dam about the country (if they already do then fine). This is one of the reasons I laugh when some Nigerians say that although the west is doing better economically, at least we have our morals LOL Oh and I dont need/want more of this God dey attitude which has plagued our nation since kingdom come. 21 Likes |
