This is the typical dishonest musical chairs you people play here that i have decided to no longer bother to engage in. At least 5 times here i have asked for clear peer-reviewed irrefutable proof for evolution... rather than post that, you mumble on about how evolution "remains one of the most tested theories in the science world"... a world you are not a part of neither do you understand. You then go on to ask that i provide evidence that evolution is lacking as a scientific theory? I mean... seriously?

The very fact that you cannot provide the scientific backing for your "theory" is sufficient evidence that it is grossly lacking!

and 10 times I have shown you peer reviewed scientific journals about evolution.....what did you do?

You put your head in the sand like and ostrich and claimed "NO EVIDENCE HERE"

Because one needs to be a professor to invent.

you're lying and even you know that. America is unabashedly a christian nation... religion did not fail europe, it simply moved to the background because things actually work there. I must say the reason religion is so prevalent in africa is because that is the opium for a population that is largely poor, destitute and in need of something to numb the pain of an existence of misery.

and why do you think religion should have minimized corruption in nigeria? What are the atheists doing?

America has a lot of christians but it remains a secular country in which irreligious people are now enforcing that secularism.

Religion failed Europe.

I'm happy that you have admitted that religion thrives on suffering, illiteracy and poverty. Not for advanced societies. Thanks

Is that why you struggled to go beyond page 1 on your laughable thread asking atheists to provide examples of discrimination? grin My friend get real.

Even your fellow christians have corrected you on your dishonesty and denial of atheist discrimination by religious people in Nigeria.

I have never met such an "ostrich-head-in-the-sand" denier like yourself.

Even just go to the thread asking if religious people would allow their children play with the children of atheists.....some christians were appalled by the bigotry of their fellow christians on that same thread. Some christians refused to let their children play with atheist children, calling atheists "satanists", "evil", "dangerous influence".

That is just a small sample of what we face as atheists.

Religion didnt fail England (where you hide your head), the United States or Germany. Perhaps a more honest conclusion would be that there must be something inherent in the nigerian culture that has stymied growth for so long. It may not be due to religion alone.

grin grin grin

Slave trade, Nazism, wars, patriarchy/lack of women's rights, blasphemy laws, hindrance of scientific advancement........

Religion failed Europe and that is why they restricted it with secularism.

As you can see, you cant get away with much religious nonsense in the west.

I never said that religion is the only reason Nigeria is bad......I only said that it has failed Nigeria. Had religion been true/useful, it would have reduced/minimized the corruption- but it has made it worse......

Its simple mob mentality that i have come to expect. We've gone over 3 pages and not once has anybody even bothered to say... here is a scientific peer-reviewed article providing irrefutable proof for evolution. All i read is the same yawn-inducing faux outrage that anyone dared question the hallowed myth called evolution. It surely cant be that hard to shut me down with the information no?

lol.....

IT IS IRRELEVANT IF EVOLUTION IS TRUE OR FALSE, YOUR GOD AND RELIGION STILL REMAIN UNSCIENTIFIC AND MYTHOLOGICAL DESPITE THE VALIDITY/INVALIDITY OF EVOLUTION.

Evolution remains of of the most tested theories in the science world. I am yet to see any anti-evolutionist provide any solid disproval of the theory.

there are fossils and dna evidence. I dont know what more you are looking for. You just want to be a dishonest tool.

Please, cite the evidence that evolution is lacking as a scientific theory.

For your information, Nigeria is not over populated. A country is not over populated just beause it's population is higher than that of most countries.

A country can have a nominal population of just 2 million people but still be regarded as over populated. It would be very ignorant of anyone to define Nigeria as an over populated Country just by looking at the nominal value of it's population. Know your Economics!!!

Anyways, I don't quite understand how you see my post as supporting a country to be over populated.

One can see that this poor fellow is clearly mired in great portracted conflicts with his mind,... and it's hard to say which side is winning at any given time.

His only hope is that he is young and might find himself someday.

That you take this this pitifully tangled mind seriously, perhaps as your young acolyte, bespeaks much about your own mind, O' eloquent sire. cheesy

lol.....I was just laughing at the the foolishness.

Uyi is one of the most confused souls here on NL (alongside bolaino) when it comes to beliefs. Christian to deist to atheist to spiritualist to deist to new age christian.......

Religion / Re: African Tradition, The Origin Of Problems In African Christianity by logicboy01: 9:46pm On Sep 27, 2014
paxonel: we understand that missionaries who brought christianity to africa, most of them were touts in London streets whose purnishment for commiting crimes in London was to come to africa to do missionary work.that means, they never had university education.
Also,African tradition and culture had values that were antagonistic to ethics. For instance, the man who is the head of his family will suppress the opinion of everybody in the family (including that of his wife ) such that, nobody will have the boldness to protest even when he is wrong.it has always been like that before Christianity came to Africa. (a replicate of the situation where church members are not bold enough to protest even when pastors are doing wrong because they were made to believe that if they venture to protest, the holy spirit will be offended ).
Because these missionaries were not educated and needed africans to accept christianity by all means , They were forced to teach Africans a faulty doctrine that, once saved is not always saved (a doctrine that contradicts Romans 6:10 which says For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God) which pastors are still teaching till now, which do not preach grace and correlate with the faulty ungracious values of African tradition making it widely acceptable in Africa (yet the teachers says they believe in grace )
With all the devotion to God it is strange how

Britain normally sent criminals to new colonies.

Funny how many african christians forget the bold

striktlymi: Looking at it from the Christian perspective, I believe it is wrong not to want kids in holy wedlock. Marriage is not 'contracted' strictly for companionship.

Couples are expected to be open to the possibility of having children during the conjugal act. This is not saying, one is not permitted to plan the family size, if done appropriately.

^^^

This is the kind of foolishness ruining nigeria. Our country has one of the highest birth rate and has been the most populous African nation. Our federal government's proposed housing scheme can not even accommodate 20% of the population.

YET SOME CHRISTIAN/MUSLIM NIGERIAN WILL CLOSE HIS/HER BRAIN AND OPEN A FOREIGN MIDDLE-EASTERN BOOK TO CLAIM THAT IT IS GODLY/RELIGIOUS/NECESSARY FOR COUPLES TO HAVE CHILDREN. Your country is overpopulated based on resources. As we are talking, children in the thousands are dying from lack of medical care or feeding in Nigeria. Our orphanages are badly understaffed and underfunded.

Yet, you insist that a couple should not ignore having children (even if they want to). The "christian perspective". I dont blame you. I blame that nonsense holy book you call a bible/quran. I am sure these same holy books mention famines. Famines that saw children and women starve to death.

Religion has truly killed the brain of many Nigerians. I just hope my plans go well. I will soon relocate back to Europe. As far way from religious fools as possible.

in addition, what can an atheist phd in science achieve in a country where there are just few people like him probably 0.something%,
science needs a lot of funding for researches and experiments which can only be provided by the government,
what possibly can the few atheists phds do when the house and senates is filled with scientifically illiterate people?
what can they do? when 90% of the population dont know the usefullness of science,
what can they do? when biology teachers and lecturers are teaching creationism instead of evolution to children and undergraduates, (some graduates in biology and related fields dont even know anything about evolution)
WHAT CAN THEY DO? (i can keep on mentioning reasons why they cant do anything, thats why most of them are useful and doing well offshore)

that is why nigeria is lagging behind in medicine, engineering, life sciences.

Thank you.

your response makes no sense to be honest. You and your ilk say that religion is to blame for Africa's backwardness... well where are the atheist phds to show us what we are missing? surely all the phds cant be religious no?

I mean, taking your own analogy at face value... your cousin could also have said that majority of the members of his class also failed and he is sure religion is the cause. Well why hasn't he passed his own exam to show us how a lack of religion improves his ability?

Well, I am very sure that atheists phds are generally smart people and they are keeping their atheism on a low key in order not to be killed, ostracised or discriminated against by you and your religious ilk

Other than that, atheist phds have contributed the best literature to nigeria (Soyinka, chinua achebe)
Atheist phds are fighting for human rights (leo igwe)

OlaAjia:

Uyi's problem is that he seems to consider evolution a belief. Evolution is not a belief, it is a scientific endeavour to rationalize the origin of life. There are alternative postulations out there, but evolution, in spite of its many inaccuracies, is the best fit approximation. Even, you need not be atheist to accept the basic postulates of evolution. Likewise, you needn't accept the basic postulates of evolution to be atheist.

The bold is the genesis of many christians.

It would surprise Uyi Iredia that many of his fellow western deists accept the theory of evolution which he so despises.
Religion / Re: Atheism A La Nigeria by logicboy01: 8:23am On Sep 27, 2014
UyiIredia: The theory does. Atheism finds its basis in materialism (the belief that the material universe is all that exists), religions believe otherwise. To then parrot what atheists like you are saying and have me believe that the two aren't like bread and butter is to be silly. Sure, there are some atheists who without doubt or some who criticize the theory but I've noted it to be very little to be negligible. For you, to say there's will be no evidence for God inspite of evolution tells me you haven't studied these issues. How do you explain life without evolution? You are a living thing and you need an explanation for your presence. Then there's the fact that it's either creation or evolution. ID is creation-centric and aliens still leaves the question open.

Lets agree that evolution is false.

Note that evolution does not explain the origin of life.

The origin of life is still unknown. So how does evolution being false lead you to God?

I will still be an atheist without evolution because there is no evidence for God. Just because I do not know the origin of life or how humans came about, it does not mean that I should start believing in some creator God.
