People, if you have a name issue, go and swear an affidavit or get the Nigerian Population Commission Certificate to accompany all your documents.
Some of us that have long and short form names learnt the hard way. God bless my form madam in JSS1 who told me to use ONLY the name I used in primary school.
To a foreigner, CHUKWUEMEKA and EMEKA or OBIANUJU and UJU are two different persons.
nony43: Oga let me gist you the latest, if you are applying for a student visa abroad especially in the UK, the inconsistencies in your names has already denied you the visa. They will tell you that Degi and Adegi are not the same
I blame both APC & INEC for not detecting the irregularity during their so called thorough screening.
Had that issue too. They told me "EMEKA" and "CHUKWUEMEKA" are not same person.
But I swore an affidavit since Secondary School which I always attach to all my documents.
Gnaeusmagnus: One fun incident from my secondary school days.
On two continous assesment tests for a certain subject, I used my full name, and then my first name and surname for one subject. The teacher spotted that and called me and said that I should use just one set of names for all tests from now on, otherwise it could become a habit to the point that I would be having different names on my documents in future...
I suspect that's what happened to the Bayelsa APC deputy governor candidate. I believe all those coeritifcates of his are genuine. The problem is he kept on 'changing his name' or using different spellings of his name, or irregular spellings of his name in between schools. He should have stuck with the name he used in primary school onward.or the one he used in writing WAEC.
When seeing what the man is going through, I feel like hunting down that old secondary school teacher of mine and thanking him for some really good advice.
P.S The affidavit he filed only made matters worse IMHO...affidavits in Nigeria have been so bastardised that people filing them for legal and legitimate purposes look bad by comparison. Affidavit must have been something of a red rag to the Supremes.
Same thing almost happened to me. My teacher in Junior Secondary told me to use the name I used in primary school.
Sometimes I write "EMEKA" and other times "CHUKWUEMEKA"
Psalme91: thank you very much for the words of encouragement, I also have 4 daughters and pregnant with the fifth. this baby supposed to be our last ,cause of financial problems, that's why my husband is not happy
You worry a lot. I can count so many families with all girls, and they are doing very well.
Don't give yourself high BP because of something you cannot control.
ogbuefi677: The north sowed wind, they are now reaping whirlwind.
I have been paying bandits = Hell Rufai. Declaration of state of emergency is declaration of war against us=Borno elders forum A fight against boko haram is a fight against the north= Sheikh osama buhari
They thought they were doing Westerners and Southerners. And in all of these, Buhari has refused to sack his fulani service chiefs
Mynd44: Nigerians have always asked if it's right for a police officer to search mobile phones during a routine stop and search exercise on the road.
The Lagos State Police PRO, Dolapo Badmus has told us the answer.
In her words she said:
"Your phone is private, it's your private property because people do alot of private stuffs on their mobile phones so it's wrong. Police officers have no right to do that except there is a reasonable ground to do so".
Although this has always been a matter of public records, officers of the Nigerian pokice have acted like they don’t know and even when citizens that tell them, they are harassed or beaten
The problem with Nigerians is, when they see police maltreating someone, they will stay afar and be watching. Las Las, they will bring out phone and be taking pictures.
If Nigerians can be their brother's keeper by intervening and helping victims, we won't have to complain like this.
Youthleader22: What she had done almost 1 week now when the challenge was hot... the coordinators of nairaland really need to sit down to discuss the use of this forum... I’ve gradually been having lack of interest on this forum and have since embraced twitter. Nairaland used to be very interesting and informative but right now I don’t know what the so called moderators are doing... this forum need a real checkup. A real one.
Me too. I have embraced twitter more than Nairaland.
Coldie: If not for the fact that Nigeria as a nation disappointed big time, an average black American girl is supposed to be jostling to date or marry a Nigerian man.
ThemanS: Hello Nairalanders, I will be traveling to the Southern part of the Country for the first time in my life. I was born and raised in the North Central, Plateau state to be precise.
I will be traveling to Aba to buy some goods for a Client, initially I was planning to move to Port-Harcourt, then from there enter Aba and Onitsha after I'm done with shopping I will move back to Port-Harcourt and take a Bus back home.
Now the issue here is I have never travelled to the South, a lot of people here are telling me that there's no security, even lodging is not safe because EFCC might raid the lodge anytime. And the Streets are also not safe.
Pls Nairalanders in port and Aba should recommend a good and safe area for me. I was told keke and bus drivers don't usually speak English na so so language dem dey speak.
