Point 6 is extremely important.

Many people with disease conditions that have symptoms resembling covid 19 such as heart failure, pulmonary edema in those with advanced kidney failure, etc are being turned back from hospitals due to fear of covid 19, basically sending these patients to go and die at home. A pity.

Well you said “undulating” which is used to describe smooth transition and this I think is normal. Maybe “erratic” would be a better word. Moving from 50 to more than double of that and maybe back down to zero might be due to unavailability of testing materials and hence inconsistent testing like you correctly said.
Yeah you're right,

Thanks

Are you trying to sound smart, tell me what pattern you are expecting and examples of countries without flunctuating data.
I know they can't be getting exactly the same numbers of cases daily, but due to inconsistent testing, it is strange to get 50 something cases for days in a row, swing to 170, to 90, to 179 then back to 40 something. There was even a particular day(s) no case was recorded for Lagos state. We can't even plot a graph with those kind of figures to determine if the curve is flattening or whether a peak has been reached because the numbers keep swinging between extremes.

I think it is due to inconsistent testing sha, maybe they test 500 in one day, and the next day they test 200, this is just my opinion anyways, as i don't know the average number of tests Lagos state carries out daily.

If you have a contrary opinion or information, you are free to share if you so desire.

Lagos results are terribly inconsistent, i wonder how they do their testing sef, the numbers just keep swinging erratically.
Meanwhile NCDC claims they will achieve 2 million tests by June, and as at today, they've done 33,970 cheesy

Health / Re: Coronavirus Numbers After 50 Days Of A Strict Lockdown In South Africa by Lorazepam(f): 10:47pm On May 16, 2020
TMKsouth:

There's quite a comprehensive approach but of course everyone will differ on whether it's enough.

1.Some monthly grant payments for the poor have been increased considerably for the next 6 months such as child grants, disability and pension payouts.
2. An unemployment grant has been introduced for the first time to citizens and legal foreign nationals of N7000 per months for 6 months.
3. Food packages have been distributed to needy households.
4. Homeless people have been put up in shelters.
5. Government spending $26 billion dollars to cushion the economy and help companies pay salaries.
6. Moratorium in place to stop landlords evicting residents and businesses.
SA doing quite fine then.
Thank you

NoIgboSoundTueh:
Dr chikwe ihekweazu has done a poor job in handling covid 19 cases in nigeria.
Despite being given an open cheque by PTF
and receiving numerous grants and donors amounting to several millions of dollars from various international bodies and countries he has done a not-so-impressive job as NCDC director
His worse crime is Nigeria mediocre testing capabilities.
He possesses Good diction and handsome features and other tools not needed to combat coronavirus.
He may have a decent career as a medical doctor but he has failed so far in handling this pandemic
Hope you know the money was donated to the FG and not NCDC. Our abysmal testing capability is largely in part due to lack of labs and even the labs that we have don't have enough equipment or manpower to process thousands of tests daily. Imagine atm, across Nigeria, there are only 25 labs capable of testing for covid 19, and up to 15 states or more do not even have a testing centre to test for covid 19.
Even Lagos with a population of 20m just has 4 labs and cumulatively, they are probably able to process just about 500 tests a day, whereas in US a state might have up to 100 labs with adequate infrastructure able to process thousands of tests daily.
Its not NCDC job to be building labs, setting up machines in the labs or employing the qualified people needed to man these labs. Our lack of infrastructure is due to severe failure of the govt over the decades to invest in healthcare leading to the severe decay, rot and handicap currently observed in the Nigerian health care system.
