Hello nairalanders I need you all help... I suddenly lost my sense of smell and taste about 3days ago.... I am not having any chronic catarrh or any nasal problems... What could be the cause of this please? Now whatever I eat don't have taste in my mouth, even if a house is burning I can't smell it too... Please help me on how to get rid of this ailment... Who else has experience this? I need your advice please
Sudden loss of smell and taste is a symptom of covid 19, go and get tested. Happened to my friend, and he eventually tested positive for the covid 19, and those were the only symptoms he had.

If youre in lagos, book for coronavirus test in NIMR Yaba, better safe than sorry, and wear masks around and distance yourself from people as much as possible, so in case youre positive, you wont infect others.

Ghana has effectively done around 100,000 tests to get less than 10,000 infections. Nigeria has not even done 20,000 tests yet..so just imagine how many infections Nigeria will discover if we conduct 100,000 tests!

As at today, It is even 150k tests they've done, while Naija is on 23k grin
Nigeria has recorded about 117 deaths while Ghana is on 18deaths
Ghana is obviously doing and faring wayy better

You will take him for physiotherapy and speech therapy, with time, he may be able to recover lost functions, and yes, the drugs will be for life, just as the doctor said, to prevent a repeat and more severe stroke and to reduce chances of things like heart attack and kidney disease

It will be better to try and find the money and remove it as soon as possible. Its not always a good idea to leave growths like this that keep growing, because of possible associated risk of malignant transformation (i.e can become cancerous). Not trying to scare you though.

Politics / Re: Pressure Mounts On Buhari To Lockdown Nigeria by Lorazepam(f): 11:18am On May 07, 2020
Lockdown what?

Instead of advocating for more widespread and rapid testing, more health infrastructure, more PPEs for health workers, its lockdown they are shouting up and down, as if lockdown alone has helped any country.

Countries that are beating the virus did a combination of lockdown and widespread testing, and some countries sef never went on a full lockdown but were able to keep the virus in check with widespread testing, quick isolation and treatment of infected individuals.

The lockdown Nigeria did was a sham. Just about 10k tests were carried out in a space of 5 weeks, and provision for citizens welfare was severely inadequate, which turned many of us in Lagos to part time vigilantes to protect ourselves from scallywags.

As long as testing is still low, deaths will contine to climb because asymptomatic people will keep spreading the virus to the elderly and those with underlying conditions. Prolonged lockdown without testing makes little sense.

This Lagos matter don tire me sef.

Something is really going on in Borno state, which has 116 cases, 0 recoveries, and 14 deaths already which is the second highest number of deaths in the country after Lagos.
NCDC and FG should look into the matter urgently and do something about it.

Men donate equal amounts of x and Y chromosomes but in the end the woman’s body decides which chromosomes survive more than the other. Some women have higher acidic pH internally and the Y chromosomes do not survive long in acidic environments, thus the woman’s body will be selective for mostly female children. Also, the X chromosomes for girls do not survive well in alkaline environments, thus the woman’s body will be selective for mostly male children.
Wow didnt even think of it that way,
Thanks for educating me, will read up more.
