Symphony007: cheesy:Ddon't worry dear!! I feel your pain. If your country was'nt paying peanuts for the gas your president won't come cap in hand to plead with the commander in chief of the federal republic of nigeria to repair that pipeline. Countries who pay good money for products will fire diplomatic cables to their supplier and demand repairs not your president who comes on all four like a dog to the table of his excellency, dr. seun0622: I am quite surprised the way many folks here paints the whole picture about north Korea. FYI, nuclear weapons are acquired in order to earn respect from other nations. The use of it is always the last resort because it has far more devastating effects. I wish you people would read the history of north Korea and stop listening to CNN propaganda. North Koreans have lived with too many international sanctions for a very long time, this has made them truly independent, tho with few allies. This is a country pushed to the wall. Few months ago when they launched nuclear weapon laden Satellite into space, that action sent a warning signal to the whole world especially America. If you think the young leader of NK is joking, take a closer look at those within his cabinet, they are mostly people that worked with his late father . No country dares threaten America without an almost immediate military response but NK has done this for the last few months now but all America could do was do a test flight of their bombers over the Korean pacific. NK is not just threatening now, they have the said weapon and i m sure further provocation might make them unleash it.
so so funny by saying no body dare threaten the United States. FYI the united state is not a ten year old child dat gets angry and beat the younger bro because of sum noise making.

Pataki: First of all, being a king is not just all about servitude and waiting to be pleased. Being a king/man is more importantly about making her happy at all times. If a man is not ready to give everything to make a woman happy, such a man is not ready for a lasting and loving relationship.

Secondly, women are not emotionally selfish. In fact, women express their emotions and feelings far better than men do. A woman does not know how to hide her feelings in most cases. They are the most easy to read object in this world if you are truly in a relationship.

Thirdly, let to appreciate that changes are bound to occur in a relationship. And only an open man will accept that come what may happen in a relationship, he would love his woman selflessly and maintain a loving communication flow with her. Simply because when all chips are down emotionally......you would know how to turn you woman back on to the first love you saw in her.

Politics › Re: Military Chiefs Angry With Boko-Haram Amnesty by loswhite(m): 12:24pm On Apr 05, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: Typical of SR. Is this not the same SR that has been the mouth piece of Boko haram all the while? SR is the NUMBER ONE propagator of the activities of Boko haram.

Since the Boko haram mayhem started, no suggestion of possible ways of ending the crisis has emanated from SR. Not even one. All we read is criticisms of any strategy adopted by govt.

What do I expect next from SR? I expect SR to blast us very soon with a news report with a headline like "Boko haram rejects amnesty". Watch out!

The conclusion that can be drawn from the attitude of SR is that they want the crisis to continue. SR is profiting from the crisis.

Even if the president had said no to amnesty to Boko haram and 99% of leaders from that region are suggesting amnesty as the way forward, it is only wise and sensible for the president to give amnesty a try. Otherwise, leaders from that region would accuse the president of being insensitive.

Again, if the leaders of the north are clamouring for amnesty, and the govt bends backwards to consider amnesty, the onus will be on the leaders in the north to persuade Boko haram members to come out from hiding and embrace amnesty.

And Why should military chiefs be enraged over amnesty? I'm sure the foot solders that die daily in this conflict wouldn't mind amnesty if that will bring peace.

Though, I'm skeptical about whether Boko haram will accept amnesty and peace but the leaders of the north know better. In any case, if the govt eventually grants amnesty and certain elements of Boko haram remain recalcitrant, then the president would be justified in using maximum force.

Furthermore, elements of Boko haram that remain recalcitrant after amnesty will lose a measure of sympathy they currently enjoy from some segments in the north.

Consequently, any subsequent action of the govt will enjoy greater support and cooperation in the north.

However, the security forces should be very vigilant even if the govt goes ahead to offer amnesty. This is to avoid the sect re-grouping within the period.

But my attitude has always been, if amnesty will bring relative peace and allow us to move on as a country, why not? If asked to choose between amnesty leading to immediate relative peace and another 5 to 10yrs of fighting and killings, which will you choose?
how will amnesty bring peace? Don't u think dat it will send message to ppl to become militant and @ d end of day there will still be no peacew
Jokes Etc › Re: Jonathan Grants Amnesty to Boko Haram by loswhite(m): 8:15pm On Apr 04, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: Amnesty has always been on the table, just that the president said the time was not ripe for amnesty. If the northern leaders can convince boko haram leaders to come out from hiding and negotiate with govt, then amnesty may be offered on certain conditions. If amnesty will bring peace, why not?

What is obvious in the last few weeks is that the military is now TRUELY on top of the situation, considering the number of attacks that have been nipped in the bud. Even Yobe has been quiet for sometime now.

Nonetheless, the govt has NOT offered amnesty to boko haram at the moment. The battle is still raging at the moment. Amnesty MUST be preceded by an announcement of cease fire. That is yet to happen.
so after d second amnesty anoda group will come up and start the killing again abi

cap28: Yeah i agree with you - the policy makers in washington are very intelligent - they knew that they had to tie the US dollar to a valuable commodity that every nation in the world needed and they used crude oil. But the problem now is that many nations of the world have also discovered a way to get around this system and there is no way the US will accept for China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, India, Brazil and North Korea to continue to transact crude oil sales in an alternative currency as this will ultimately destroy the US dollar. Therefore it is actually a foregone conclusion that if the US wants to remain the world's superpower it will have to go to war with China and Russia.
if that war comes now then the US hav a slight advantage but if it comes in 5 to 10 years then there is a problem for US cos with the improvement of the brics China and Russia will have enough support to wage the war. On the other hand with time US will hav to device a way also shud in case the petrodollar falls out then dey don't go up in hyperinflation so u see dat they nid time cos a sudden fall of petrodollar is catastrophic so if I'm US president I will do d same to protect it till I have alternative

cap28: Sorry but i have to bring up the petro dollar angle because that is the source of america's power. Most people do not know this and think america's power comes from its ingenuity and its belief in freedom, justice and democracy. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Also North Korea is on that list because it refuses to buy oil in dollars not because it has oil, you dont have to have oil in order to trade in oil.
I agree it is a source of their power but I will also give them credit 4 dat kind of negotiation cos it is serious brain work dat they did since the dollar gold pegging was falling and with dat they were able to beat Russia in the arms race. Afghanistan is also a strategic location in terms of resources also, so dat cud b d reason they were invaded by d Russians and US with d help of Saudi Arabia funded the Islamic army to push the Russian out thereby creating so called terrorist organization. Truth b told it is a battle of supremacy and nw I get ur gist on North Korea on d list

cap28: I can't beleive you could make the above statement without being ironic - i mean seriously! you think that the united states spent millions of US tax payer's money to go to war based on some "perverse daddy issues"
how about the fact that Saddam started selling his oil in euros dont you think that had something to do with it?

You are one of the few remaining people who still beleive 9/11 was carried out by a group of arabs - i mean have you even attempted to think about it in your mind, dont you think that it defies all logic to beleive that a handful of saudis armed only with box cutters could singlehandedly outwit NORAD, US intelligence, the US airforce, US air traffic control, the Pentagon and the US national security council - those arabs must not only be terrorists they must be super human!
Also if we are to beleive your story about the involvement of the saudis - why was bin laden's family allowed to leave the US the day after 9/11 ?

if the Iraq war was not about oil - what was it about?

No you are talking about the OPEC embargo which is totally different and which was carried out by the arab OPEC countries to punish america and its allies for supporting israel during the Yom Kippur War of 1973, the arab OPEC countries also wanted to redress the unfair trading agreements that they had with many western oil companies who were able to buy oil from them at rock bottom prices. this is a totally different issue and it was only after the embargo had been lifted that the US then came up with the idea of crude oil purcahses and sales being conducted in the US dollar, this was done in order to take away power from OPEC and transfer control of oil prices to the US.

The above makes no sense - the US dollar has never been stable and was definitely not stable as at the time it became the only acceptable currency for trade in crude oil- as a matter of fact the dollar had been depreciating in value very badly by the early 70s and this is why Nixon decided to take it off the gold standard and transform it into a fiat currency. And to say that the US dollar is stable now means that you have been living undr a rock for the past 10 years, if it is so stable why are the BRICS countries now using their own currencies to trade with each other?
do u think it is because of stability dat d brics nation r using their own currency to trade? So many things involve dat u don't knw and u will knw dat in d next decade

cap28: I am going to make the assumption that you are not very intelligent.

Once you gain a more indepth understanding of how the US operates and the fact that it is an empire whose sole objective is to retain and maintain its position as the world super power, then and only then will you begin to understand the whole concept of the petrodollar trade system.

Your ignorance has completely blinded you to the fact that the US has a vested interest in keeping crude oil as the sole source of energy, i have asked you a few times to explain to me why the US invaded Iraq and i still havent received an answer.

Also if you can, answer the following:

Why did the US do a deal with Saudi Arabia in the 1970s stipulating that all purchases and sales of crude oil be conducted using the US dollar?
so what is wrong with sumbody maintaining their empire and status as world power. Won't Russian and china do d same or if u r d president of Nigeria and we hav dat status won't u negotiate deals dat will favour us as a nation. And wat is wrong with d deal with Saudi Arabia d other member saw it as a benefit do they join or is it America dat threatened OPEC to join d deal. do you think that the US will allow other nations to invest in renewable energy when its very survival is dependant on keeping nations hooked on crude oil?

Michaeljones36: China pegged their currency to the dollar, so I have no idea what you are talking about.
No one is forcing them to buy US treasury bills either.

I don't know what the rest of those countries want to do. They all earn 'petro dollars' as foreign exchange, because they want to. No one is stopping them from trading in Euros. (look up petroeuros and the use of British Pounds as petrocurrency in the North Sea). The US dollar is a stable currency. No one wants to risk massive exchange rate fluctuations.

Lastly, Russia is the world's largest oil producer. If they wanted to trade in other currency, nobody could stop them.

[quote author=12 inches!]Finally!!! Someone with a like-minded mentality and sees the bigger picture. The U.S has so much nuclear warheads it entered a nuclear arms disarmament agreement with russia (the nation with the second largest stock pile.) That is just the amount each country has declared not to forget the ones they have in secret for the rainy day that are undeclared. War is not a matter of the number of troops anymore. One successful target is enuff to destabilise a nation. We all see the great havoc ordinary Al-Qaeda caused America using simple aeroplane terrorist attack strategy. Now imagine a successful ICBM attack on the pentagon and other secret key U.S military installations we know nothing of. It's not the amount of stockpiles owned by each country but the effectiveness of the technology that will enable the safe delivery of the nuclear warhead to its target. Don't be too quick to forget is it iran now (not too sure) that redirected a U.S drone to its soil using hacking technology so they can study the drone. Also remember that NK is not a open society like the U.S. Communist state.Very Secretive. This is what scares the U.S. Only God knows what kind of nuclear technology they have been developing. shymexx: All the nations on the UN security council have the might(most esp. China and Russia) to do that, but most times choose to abide by international laws...

By saying "might is right" that means slavery, colonisation, and Nazi Germany's annihilation of the Jews were right, no?? That might be true during the medieval ages... However, it has no place in the modern world after a new-world-order was signed by all with the created of the UN, post-world War 2...Which means you're going against the ethics of why the UN was created... and the UN charter that describes every independent country as the same under international laws... Also, every country's sovereignty must be respected at all times...

Might is right would definitely make Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, and the Serbs' invasion of Kosovo right, no?? If so, why did the UN Security Council support a resolution to help the weaker countries in this context by using Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter as a pretext for that??

Article 51 of Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter:
"Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. Measures taken by Members in the exercise of this right of self-defence shall be immediately reported to the Security Council and shall not in any way affect the authority and responsibility of the Security Council under the present Charter to take at any time such action as it deems necessary in order to maintain or restore international peace and security."

^^^^Perhaps NK is exercising its rights to self-defence with US' B-2 nuclear bombers and its never ending military exercises near its borders..
they did not just choose to abide by international laws , They are bidding their time. They all have interest in building empire so they have interest in controlling the energy in Middle East and they will view every other nation as their subject as soon as they succeed. So neither US or Russia or china is better cos they will fight 4 their interest. Early 80 Russia invaded Afghanistan and US supported d Islamic army to push them out so u see it is a battle for the regions energy .

I guess no body in this trend has ever heard about the ''shanghai pact'', just check it out. That is the military pact between china and Russia and their allies. this was setup to counter the NATO pact. Ever wondered why it took 2 months for NATO, to attack Libya, but can only cry foul with Syria for almost 3 years now. I guess none of you here really know why we have north and south Korea today.During the last Korean war, the Americans and her allies fought the north Koreans, but they were defeated by the Chinese at the yellow river. It was a very famous battle called '' yellow river attack''. in one day the USA and her allies of about a hundred thousand soldiers came against two millions chinese soldiers. The USA ran and left their guns for real, read your history. The USA assumed the north Koreans where just a push over, but after that attack they realized that in reality they where actually fighting the Chinese. That was why the USA decided to immediately sue for peace by splitting the country into two. If the USA even dears to drop a bullet in north Korea, they will be up against the Russians and the Chinese. This yellow river incidence was a shocker to the power of the USA, this lead to General mac Arthur of the USA, to suggest the USA nuke China. President Truman had to sack Mac Arthur for this statement.President later said '' we are fighting the wrong war, the wrong enemy and at the wrong time''. He was referring to China/Russia.
since u r good in history u will Agree with me dat d Russia and china don't want to fight war with USA js as much as USA don't want to fight with them either. The truth is there will be too much to loose. In the end it will be called Pyrrhic victory
