The Ogun state police command have arrested Keji Osunjirin pictured above for setting his wife, Fatimo, ablaze because she disobeyed him and attended a family party he had instructed her not to attend. Some neighbours said Keji had a quarell with his wife hours after she returned from the party.
He left the house and returned with a jerry can filled with petrol and allegedly poured the petrol on his wife and lit a match stick. When he realized his error, he rushed her to the hospital, unfortunately, Fatimo died from the burns she sustained from the incident.

Fatimo left behind a little girl.

When interrogated, Keji said he did not attack his wife with the petrol which he said was meant for their generator.

Family release shocking horror bite photos of mother 'eaten to death by rat in care home'

4A RAT gnawed a sleeping pensioner’s arm as if it were “corn on the cob”, the woman’s daughters said last night.
Screaming carers found bedridden Pamela Hudson, 75, lying in her blood-soaked nightie following the attack in council-run sheltered housing.

Horrified daughter Jan Derry told how she and sister Sallie Wilkinson first saw Pamela’s injuries after she was admitted to hospital.

They last night gave us permission to publish shocking images showing the wounds after council bosses again refused to accept responsibility.

Jan, 48, said: “We want the world to see these pictures so this can never happen again.”

She went on: “When we got to hospital they were wiping blood from mum’s wounds. They put a bandage on, but the blood soaked right through within the hour.

“When you looked at her arm there was no top level of skin in sections. It was not just a bite, it was as if it had been chewed off.

“As if you were eating a corn on the cob and you gnawed along it.

“People were coming in to see her throughout the day. They’d never seen anything like it. We just kept crying every time we looked at her.”

Pamela, who was transferred to a privately-run care home but died three months later, told one carer: “It was a rat, brown. I kept pushing it away but it kept coming back.”

But her words, images of her injuries and vital medical details were ignored by council bosses. They said they could not be sure what caused her injuries, even suggesting a squirrel was to blame.



Chiefs gagged Pamela’s daughters, warning of legal action if they revealed contents of an official report into June’s attack at York’s Glen Lodge.

But speaking of the photos last night, Jan said: “We hope the images will prompt action and somehow things will change so that our elderly are better cared for.

“If it can happen to my mum it can happen to other people’s parents. We’re all going to be old one day and deserve the very best care.”

Great gran Pamela also suffered dozens of bites on her hands, chest and face. She was left in terror after June’s attack and her daughters say she remained haunted by it until her death in September.

Sallie, 52, revealed she burst into tears after rushing to the hospital to be at her stricken mother’s side. She said: “I was just shocked. I couldn’t believe it when I saw her.

“I couldn’t get over the injuries — it was complete shock. I couldn’t understand what had happened to her.”

A doctor at York Hospital told the sisters: “We think she’s been bitten.”

Sallie, who works with disabled kids, went on: “I wasn’t thinking of a rat, so I asked her, ‘By another resident’?

“She said, ‘No, by a rat or mouse — or mice’. It floored me. The doctors said you could see the teethmarks.”

As nurses treated her, Pamela woke several times and brushed at her body, saying: “Get that rat off me.” Jan added: “The thought of how many times she was bitten is awful.

“We fear it may have got trapped in the bed with her and just kept biting and biting. We don’t know, and never will, if it was one or more.

“There was no way mum could have fought off a rat. She was too frail by then and weighed just 5st.”

Baffled carers had gathered Pamela’s sheets and put them in a bag for hospital doctors to examine.

Supermarket worker Jan and Sallie, both from York, went through it and were stunned by the nightie.

Mum-of-three Jan added: “It was covered in blood. It showed what she must have gone through.” The sisters want a full public inquiry.

Divorced Pamela, who has a third daughter, Penny Murphy, 48, moved into Glen Lodge in 2007 and lived in a first floor self-contained flat.

But in recent years she had grown increasingly frail, become bed-ridden and lost the use of one arm. Jan said the once-jovial gran “lost interest in living” after the attack.

York City Council revealed the findings of their investigation to the sisters last month. Jan said: “They just said, ‘We are sorry, we haven’t been able to come to a conclusion’.

“They refused to believe what mum told them. She was not lying.

“We pointed out to the council she’d told them it was a rat. They accept she was bitten but said they were not 100 per cent what it was.

“We just want an apology and for them to accept responsibility.”

Martin Farran, director of adult social care at York Council, said: “It is with regret that, despite extensive efforts by professional experts, environmental health and independent inspectors, we’ve been unable to determine the exact circumstances of how the injuries occurred.”

The Tory and Lib Dem-run council has slashed its budget for adult social care for the past five years.

Leader Dafydd Williams said they had tried to come up with a 2016 budget to reflect residents’ priorities but cautioned money was tight. He said: “As Government grants diminish so does our capacity to spend on anything other than the basics like stimulating economic growth or protecting vulnerable people.”

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt called the photos “appalling”. He pledged to launch an investigation alongside Communities Secretary Greg Clark. Mr Hunt said: “Whatever the social care provider, people have a right to expect the highest standards.”

TO be savaged by a rat in your own bed, when you can’t escape or call for help, is the stuff of nightmares.

Yet incredibly, this actually happened to a gran in care recently.

It would be wonderful to believe this could never happen to another older person. But can we be sure? The honest answer is “No”.

Our care system is under so much pressure that no one can be 100 per cent confident an older loved one will always be cared for as well as they should be.

This is mainly because the money the Government is putting into care has been going down.

At the same time, because we are all living longer, there are more older folk — so there’s not enough to go round.

Most people want to live independently for as long as possible and only go into a home when they have to, often because of dementia.

This means care home residents are usually highly vulnerable.

Hazards include the risk of abuse or neglect — we’ve all read about the court cases.

The vast majority of care home staff do a good job, often for a pretty low wage. They could usually earn more on a supermarket till.

So as long as we don’t invest enough into care for older folk we run the risk of more horror stories like this and that’s shameful in a country as wealthy as ours.

Surely every pensioner deserves good care.

A 29-year-old businessman, Oluchi Ajimowu, is being held by the State Department for Criminal Investigation, Yaba, Lagos, for his alleged involvement in the death of her wife, Priscillia Ajimowu.


Priscillia and Oluchi lived with their children in the FESTAC area of the state.

The police are working on two theories; that Oluchi smashed the wife’s head on the floor, or the 23-year-old mother of two poisoned herself after being frustrated by her husband.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Oluchi had locked the deceased in her room on November 29, seized her phone and went out with their two children. It was gathered that Oluchi on arrival met his wife foaming in the mouth.

Their correspondent learnt that Priscilla, a nurse, demanded to be taken to a hospital, but her husband allegedly declined, and gave her palm oil instead. He reportedly videoed her for about 40 minutes after which she gave up the ghost.

It was gathered that prior to the incident, Oluchi had subjected the deceased to inhuman treatment for the four years they spent in South Africa. Oluchi came back to Nigeria four months ago while the wife arrived on November 27, two days before her death.

It was learnt that Oluchi wrote “for sale” on the house shortly after the wife’s death.

The couple’s first child, seven-year-old Ella, told our correspondent that there was a pesticide and a drink in the room where her mother was on the fateful day, adding that her father was “not nice to my mother” while they were in South Africa.

She said, “Dad used to shout at mummy and beat her and she would be crying. That day (November 29), we left her alone in the house. Daddy took the keys and mummy’s phone and locked mummy inside.

“When we came back home, daddy packed outside, locked us inside the car and went inside. After that, he called us to ‘come, come and see your mummy on the floor’. Mummy was saying, ‘Take me to hospital, I’m tired’. He started videoing her. He gave her red oil, but she spat it out. Her body was cold.”

The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Stella Ayobo, said her daughter had planned to visit her on the fateful day, but later cancelled the visit.

The mother said Priscillia had not been happy since she got married to Oluchi seven years ago. She added that Oluchi had shortly after his wife’s death reported at the Aguda Police Division, saying a friend took poison and died in his house.

She said, “Four years ago, they went to South Africa. She always called me to report how Oluchi maltreated her.

“She came back to Nigeria on November 27. She visited me on November 28 and promised to visit me again the following day, being a Sunday. But that day, around 8am, she called me that she would not be able to come again and promised to come with her children on Friday.

“Around 8pm that Sunday, her husband called me that she had been vomiting since morning and I told him to take her to a nearest hospital. He later called me and said it was a poison she took. I told him to bring her. By the time she brought her, she was dead. We took her to a hospital and the doctor said she had died.

“He went to the Aguda Police Station to report that a girl visited him from South Africa, took a poison and died in his house.”

The mother urged the police to investigate the matter to a logical conclusion and give justice to the family.

Priscillia’s elder sister, Mrs. Emenike Dorcas, said Oluchi had convinced her sister to come to Nigeria under the pretext that he would open a chemist’s for her.

“I reported the incident to the police at Satellite Town and Aguda divisions. Policemen at Aguda were surprised when they eventually knew the truth of the matter,” she added

The deceased’s uncle, Francis Ayobo, said the suspect was not remorseful after her wife’s death.

He said, “It is so surprising that the wife was dying and the husband started videoing her. The videos were more than 40 minutes. He sent it to Priscillia’s sister in South Africa. By that time he would have rushed her to a hospital for treatment.

“I noticed that about three other guys were in the background of one of the video because somebody was giving her water and she was foaming in the mouth. Those things should be questioned. He was handed over to SDCI on Wednesday.”

The Lagos State Police spokesperson, DSP Joe Offor, said the Aguda Police Station arrested the husband and handed him over to the Satellite Town Police Division.

He added that he would get back to our correspondent with more detail.

LAGOS—Lagos State police command, weekend, arrested eight persons for allegedly murdering one Akeem Ajanaku who was attacked at Enu-Owa/Ido Olowu area of Lagos Island.


The suspects, identified as Animashaun Akeem, Qudus Atakoro, Abduramon Onisemo, Muritala Oyejobi, Tabiu Mujib, Iyaniwura Idris, Tayo Oladimeji, and Segun Adeyemi, were arrested by the police at the scene of the murder, while others escaped.

Vanguard learned that on November, 15, 2015, at about 1pm, Ido-Olowa/Enu-owa on Lagos Island, was invaded by thugs armed with cutlasses, axes, guns and other dangerous weapons which they used to attack one Akeem Ajanaku.

According to Supol Segun Adebayo, who reported the case at Central Police Station, Adeniji-Adele, Lagos, “the victim, Akeem Ajanaku, was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital by the police and other sympathizers; unfortunately, he gave up the ghost.”

The case was later transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Lagos State Police Command, for further investigation.

Vanguard gathered that investigation is still on going to apprehend other members of the gang who are currently on the run.

Suspects account

One of the suspects, Tayo Oladimeji, explained his role: “I was at home sleeping on a Saturday morning when I heard my mum’s voice asking if I wont go to work. Reluctantly, I got up from my bed and headed towards the bathroom to take my bath when I was arrested.’’

Denying the allegation, Segun said: “I don’t know anything. I was in my shop that Monday when policemen came to arrest me, saying I was involved in last Sunday’s fracas on Lagos Island. The only encounter that I had was when some unknown guys came to me at Oduduwa bus stop and collected my wristwatch.

‘’Immediately I was arrested, I called my parents but I couldn’t reach them and then police also seized my phone and brought me here (Lagos command)this morning. While I was in the police custody, I was told that Major and Paulo called my mobile phone. I don’t know the reason they were calling me.”

She was quoted as saying in Thai “I felt sad, angry even. But I was lucky I still have my husband”. Despite the scars and imperfections, he still takes care and loves his girl. The woman lost her eyes and eyesight. She also had her nose and mouth melted off her face.

A taxi driver, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, on Friday faked his own death in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, in order to evade paying fine.


The incident happened at the Marian Road office of the Cross River State Commercial Transport Regulatory Agency, where many commercial vehicles were impounded for various offences.

Southern City News learnt the taxi driver had faked his own death to avoid paying penalty for violating CTRA order.

The driver was found lying flat at the entrance to the CTRA premises where the scene attracted so
many passers-by. One of the eyewitnesses, who is a commercial cab driver, Mr. Nichola Eyo, said the driver was a trickster. Eyo said:

“He is fond of this act; each time he is caught after violating traffic rule, he puts on such trick. The other time, he removed all his clothes and lay flat on the road when he was caught for violating traffic offence by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps along this same Marian Road.”

The driver caused a gridlock along the road according to another eyewitness, who identified himself as Adamu Benny.

He said, “Though the environment was tense with crowd of onlookers watching to see what becomes of the man. Besides, many cars were waiting to enter while others tried getting out of the premises and this caused a gridlock.”

1) You do not deserve to settle for less in a relationship for the fear of being alone. Perhaps family and friends are telling you to lower your standards and marry ‘any’ son of Adam that comes your way due to the fear that you won’t meet any man in a long time? It’s all hogwash. Great things usually happen just at the edge of giving up. Your own dude is nearer than you think. Just when you think it’s over, something new is definitely coming your way. Wait!

2)You do not deserve a guy who constantly cheats on you while you are dating. Yet, apologises and still goes back to his vomit. Trust me Babe, you don’t deserve him one bit.

3)You do not deserve to be treated with scorn or looked down upon because of your single state. Being single isn’t a sin neither is it a permanent phase of life. Hear this, there is no early or late marriage. Only God determines the appropriate time for an individual. So, if you married in your twenties, that’s not an early marriage. No, you only married at the appropriate timing for your life. And if you married in your late thirties, it isn’t late as well. It was learnt that Olusegun had on June 16, sent a message with a number given as 081446488xx to the lady’s husband, Remi-Louis, telling him to leave his own wife for him or pay with his life.

According to Punch findings, the adulterous wife and Olusegun had been dating since October, 2014 – six months after she moved out of her matrimonial home on Akanbi Crescent, Onitiri area of Lagos.

It was learnt that the mother of three and Olusegun had been living in a rented apartment on Awin Street, Bariga, while a divorce suit between her and her husband was still pending in the state’s high court.

In his statement to the police, Mr. Remi-Louis said, “I received a call through 081762477xx around 8.22am on June 7, 2015. Two minutes after, I called the number and discovered that the subscriber was in a conversation with some other people, telling them that Ogbeni yen ti pe (the man has called). Nine days after, I received a threat message from 081446488xx.”

The message read, “We were calling you but you did not answer. You called our boss a thief when he phoned you. You can’t snatch our chairman’s wife. Your odeisi (charm) against bullets cannot work.

During interrogation, Olusegun eventually confessed to the police that the number 081762477xx belonged to him but denied knowledge of the threat messages.

The charges read in part, “That you, Olusegun Asogbon, between June 8 and 16, 2015 in the Bariga area, in the Lagos Magisterial District, being the owner of mobile phone numbers 081446488xx and 081762477xx used same to threaten the life of one Aderemi Remi-Louis by sending grossly offensive words threatening to cause him harm.

Olusegun pleaded not guilty to the two charges and was admitted to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum by the magistrate. He will remain in prison until he meets his bail conditions.

The case has been adjourned till November 17, 2015, for trial.
